SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: The Sparrow's Nest
  • Classification: Hide-Out
  • Location: Lubang Minor
  • Affiliation: Aela Talith, Former Members of The Covenant
  • Accessibility:
The Sparrows Nest is located directly in the middle of a jungle, hidden beneath canopy and trees and tucked just beneath the keel of a mountain. The structure is rather difficult to reach on foot and almost impossible to spot from space.

There is of course a landing pad that a medium sized freighter could land on, but other than that the Nest is actually fairly difficult to find. Though it has no cloaking device, the structure naturally blends into it's surrounding due to overgrowth of the jungle, even the old Consular-Class Cruiser that crashed there is now fully overgrown with vegetation and vines. Finding the Nest is hard, getting to it in anything else other than a ship near impossible.
  • Security:
The Sparrow's Nest was designed as a hide out for members of the Covenant.

When stating this one must keep in mind that most of the Covenant were children, skilled children, but children nonetheless. Most of the structures defenses are long gone, the auto-turrets and turbolasers having long since eroded. What the structure does have however is a set of thick double blast doors and solid duracrete walls. Gaining entry to the structure is nearly impossible unless one has quite a bit of time, or they were a member of the Covenant.
  • Description:
The Sparrows Nest is a small bunker that was originally built by the Republic During the Clone Wars as a listening post. The construction of the Bunker was fairly quick, and unlike many other structures at the time was created with Duracrete instead of the usual durasteel. This was mainly due to fear that the environment would lead to quick erosion and damage to the structure itself.

The Bunker is spacious enough for fifteen or twenty people to live comfortably, with several officers quarters as well as 'barracks' for the common soldiers. The bunker was originally equipped with monitoring equipment as well as high grade sensors, though by the time The Covenant took up residence that technology was entirely outdated.

To the left of the Bunker sits and ancient Consular-Class Cruiser, a vessel that crashed near the old structure towards the end of the war. The vessel was never removed, instead the structure was abandoned at around the time of the Empire's rise. When the Covenant found the Bunker they utilized the Ship as extra space, some of the members taking up residence within and others converting the ancient vessel into a type of sensor array to boost the Bunkers communications and detection abilities.

POINTS OF INTEREST
Landing Platform: Located directly on the front of the Bunker, the Landing pad is the only way in and out of the structure and by now is nearly overgrown with vegetation. The pad itself is large enough to hold a single medium sized freighter or two starfighters.

Directly at the end of the landing Pad is the entrance to the bunker itself. This entrance is a double blast door which is sealed at almost all times. A single control panel sits to the left of the bunker's entrance which was replaced when the Covenant first took over the Structure itself. Though it too appears to be overgrown, the panel is still capable of reading the biometrics of any Covenant member who returns to The Nest.

The Sparrow: Perhaps the most unique piece of The Sparrows Nest is the component that the structure was actually named after. The Consular-Class Starship crashed near the end of the Clone Wars when the Listening Post was subsequently abandoned by the Republic. The ship, known as The Sparrow, remained largely intact over the centuries, it's weapons, shields, engines, and other systems no longer operating.

When the Covenant arrived the Ship itself became somewhat of a mixture between extra living space and a larger radar dish. Some of the more mechanically gifted Covenant members converted the entirety ship into a communications array, allowing The Covenant to extend it's communication and sensor array.

Of course, the other half of this was of course the fact that said members took up residence within the ship itself. The inside of the vessel still sits in reflection of that, with neat rooms and dusty old bedding simply waiting.

Command Center: Located inside of the Bunker itself, the command center is of course the central point of the entire bunker.
From the Command Center one can control the entirety of the functions of the Sparrows Nest. From doors, to satellite arrays to toilets. Anything and everything can be controlled within the Command Center.

Though most of the equipment within is old, downright ancient, much of it has been repaired by and fixed up by members of the Covenant and thus the bunker is still in perfect working order. Even since The Covenant abandoned the Nest much of the systems inside still work, requiring only a quick reboot and a little bit of dusting.

Dorms: Located at the very base level of the Bunker itself the Dorms are a collection of rooms where most of the residents lived.

The dorms are spread into two sections, officers quarters and barracks. These two sections were largely distinctive at one point, though when the Covenant moved in everything sort of blended together. No one ever really had an assigned room, rather whoever got their first could claim whatever they wanted as long as they left it in the same condition that they found it in. This usually meant that everyone got to have their own bathroom at least once while staying at the Sparrows Nest.

It should also be noted that while the Officers quarters were more private, they were hardly anymore luxurious than the barracks.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Bunker that would become The Sparrows Nest was originally constructed as a Republic listening post within the outer rim.

The reason for it's construction was relatively simple, the Confederacy of Independent Systems was attempting to maneuver around the outer rim to gain better entry into fringe Republic systems, and in response various listening posts were constructed on several worlds that could better track fleet movements.

Functioning well, the Outpost was only abandoned towards the end of the war when a small skirmish occurred in orbit.

A transport as well as a Consular-Class ship were attacked by a Confederacy Destroyer and the latter of the two ships crashed on the planet, landing by happenstance just a few meters away from the bunker itself. The death throes of the war were enough to cause the structure to be abandoned, and it sat empty for centuries after.

After the Gulag Plague and everything else, the Bunker was found by the small group known as The Covenant.

Attempting to establish a place of retreat and wanting to ensure their own safety, the Covenant took over the lost bunker as well as the crashed ship. They quickly set to work remodeling the inside and getting everything to work, utilizing their various technical skills in order to ensure the Bunker could be brought back to life.

As soon as everything was finished, they renamed the bunker as "The Sparrows Nest", after the crashed ship that lay besides it.

When the Covenant split up and went their separate ways, the Bunker was abandoned once more. Thus it currently sits in hibernation, waiting for any who might require it.
