The Thread Where HK Lures Humanitarian Organization Into A Trap Involving A Lead Pipe [Rosa Gunn]

"Not a scattergun, a shattergun."

The droid corrected Rosa, turning slightly in his seat to look back at her,

"Scattergun denotes a type of ammunition fired, multiple projectiles at once, shatterguns refer to firing mechanism, magnets which can proper even small caliber bullets fast enough to shatter apart durasteel plates. Usually even a shattergun pistol is able to pierce even vehicle armor, however with shortened barrel and weakened magnetic rails they are able to fire projectiles at non-lethal speed."

HK explained,

"And yes, we can use rubber bullets or something else. While usually magnet firing weapon require ferrous ammunition, shatterguns utilize technology which can magnetize even non-metallic substances, that is why one can fire things like pebbles from it, and we have used them before to fire small projectiles which exploded into tracking dust, so having gas-propelling ammunition is not out of the realm of possibility."

The droid agreed,

"These weapons would also be very small and very light, hold-out blaster sized, and will not fire as fast as other weapons, I might be able to make it burst-action but other than that it is outside of our current technological limitations. I calculate you should visit Abregado sometime soon, it is a peaceful planet,"

HK changed the topic somewhat,

"I came to power there as a dictator, put in my position by the Protectorate after RC 212 attempted to raid the planet and I captured him, bringing him before the Mandalore for his crime against Keldabe."

If Rosa knew Mandalorian history she would probably be able to recall that the crime HK referred to was dropping a nuclear bomb on the city.

"However the Gados are very welcoming to strangers, very passive, they did not rebelled against me and we got along. I developed their industry respecting their planet, in turn they gave me their loyalty. Some people call it the River Planet because of its abundance of river-ways, even the capital city still relies heavily on water canals for transportation."

HK would look back to Rosa then,

"I will sign the Iron Chef's Fine Rations off to you, it will do better under someone who has the time to develop the company and actually use it. Plus it should not be connected to my warmongering any more."

Rosa's tried, perhaps not as hard as she should have, to follow what [member="HK-36"] was telling her about the difference between scatterguns and shatterguns. Something to do with the mechanism? She didn't really know, she understood only that they would be small and light and could be made to be non lethal and that, as a as the Jedi was concerned, was all she needed to understand. Had she not been trying to follow his explanation, she might have missed the abrupt change of subject from weapons to Abregado.

She pursed her lips at the mention of RC212 and the desolation he had wrought on Keldabe she remembered it well, though perhaps not as clearly as this ones other character. Thousands had died. To say, however that such a thing was an isolated incident however, would have been incredibly naive for there d been a hundred, if not a thousand Keldabe incidences in the wars since then. Still, it was nice to know he was brought to justice.

"I shall do my best to find a slot in my schedule to take the time to visit. It sounds wonderful." Then his last sentence struck her, as though it had been delayed somewhere between entering his ears and reaching her brain.

"I'm sorry, what?" she looked at him with wide eyes. "You'll...you're...what?"

Had she been a droid, she was pretty sure her systems would be repeating the message: Error. Does Not Compute.

"I am going to transfer the ownership of Iron Chef's Fine Rations to you!"

HK repeated much louder, looking right at Rosa, assuming that she needed the sentence repeated because she didn't hear right over the sound of the engines, or it was just an effect of that aging thing organics loved so much,

"The company is pretty much in a coma, it has been ages since I took time to find them more contracts or bothered to expand their influences outside of what used to be Protectorate space or sector of the Core around Abregado. They have farms, silos, replicators to make a lot of basic foodstuff very quickly and cheaply, even their own cargo ships, and I have already been running it as a non-profit. It is all ready there, waiting for you, it might even be a while before you will really have to expand their holdings to account for growing demands."

The droid explained, the company after all, when it was first created, was meant to feed the refugees and struggling worlds found within the Omega Protectorate, which were rather large amounts considering the power grew through military conquest and by spreading their influence into Outer Rim and Unknown Regions. With the Galactic Alliance now contained and enjoying a period of relative prosperity, Iron Chef still had the means but not as much demand in their old territory.

"All you will have to do is take the food they are making and bring them with you to the refugees and struggling planets you plan to help, you were going to need to feed them anyway so this will just be a means for the Boolon Foundation not to worry about it so much. Besides, it would be better for me to distance myself from Abregado more, if the First Order reach it and its industry will still be all so nationalized it will all go to hells."

HK leaned in closer to Rosa,

"Between you and me the Alliance are not that good at fighting, they would probably do much better if they actually let me be in charge, but I digress."

Rosa beamed at him, she might have reached to hug the droid but she was unsure how he would react to that. "I don't know what to say other than thank you, Lord Protector." Another company to look after, but the benefits of having it to hand far outweighed the responsibilities of running it. To be able to produce a supply of rations that would meet her demands was a wonderful weight off her mind. "Iron Chef will be a greatly appreciated asset and I give you my word that it'll remain true to its purpose."

The ship shuddered slightly as it passed through Denon's atmosphere, reminding Rosa of the task at hand. "Tell me about this delegate we're going to be speaking with today."

The droid probably wouldn't mind being hugged by Rosa at all, it was so rare for someone to be actually willing to get so close to the machine physically, considering he was usually covered in armor that could rip away skin and flesh with bare touch and even outside that he was covered pretty well in spiky bits. Either way, the ship would shook as they finally begun their descent to Denon's surface, close to their destination,

"I hope you will keep your promise, many Abregado citizens and workers will be counting on you now, not to mention the refugees."

HK pointed out as he stood up, heading towards the exit of the transport, waiting for it to finish landing procedure,

"He is Prime Minister [member="Macharius Solaire"], the leader of Denon Government, or his representatives at least. Hopefully your presence and involvement will ease the tension between Metal Lords and the citizens of our new capital, plus the fact that he would have more outside allies will not hurt either."

Most might have been daunted by the thought that many people were counting on them, Rosa however seemed to take it in her stride. This was what she did best. Whether she was successful or not didn't matter she would continue to work until she was successful. Until the refugee crisis could be managed better, not because she wanted her name to go down in history, not because it wounded her pride everytime she failed, but because it was what was required of her. So may Jedi these days were placing themselves in the line of fire, fighting other peoples wars rather than defending those that truly needed defending. The New Jedi Order fought for the Galactic Alliance. The Silver Jedi Order fought to eradicate the sith...neither of them seemed to notice the destruction left in their wake. It was her responsibility then, to pick up the slack where others had failed to. To place roofs over heads, and provide something in the way of food and protection form those who were most affected. When the rich and powerful waged war, it was always the poor who suffered the most.

She rose smoothly with [member="HK-36"] as the sound of the landing gears reached their ears. The landing was smooth, with only the smallest of jolts that did not require bracing against. "I will do my best to assist you, Lord Protector. The more smoothly these negotiations go, the better it will be for everyone. Force knows we do not need another war."
