The Union Of Fire And Ice

Valae, now that she had warmed up, removed her cloak and hung it up with the others. She attempted to tame back her chestnut curls, self-conscious that they might be a bit wild. But, with a small shrug, she began to move towards the bar. While she didn't normally imbibe, she did think that a hot, spiced cider sounded mighty nice – and she probably would have a sip of champagne before the night was done, just to toast the happy couple.

A friendly voice made her turn.

“Oh!” She returned the smile, “Why, thank you. That's quite a lovely dress that you have as well.”

Canting her head to the side, Valae couldn't help but stare at the young woman with pink-hued skin. She looked so very familiar, and her style of dressed looked familiar, too.

“Joza?” She wondered aloud, and then realized she'd spoken, she blinked. This young woman was not Joza Perl, she knew that... and felt the need to explain. “Ah, I'm sorry. You just remind me of an old friend.” She offered with a sheepish smile. “But, yes, I am excited for the party. The groom is family, after all."

"No I don't suppose she would", he said to his father, regarding his mother, before he left Théo to his thoughts and preparations. Théo pulled in a long breath before puffing out his cheeks and expelling it trying to release some tension building up inside of him. Now alone his mind turned to Ylva wondering how she was coping with all this, although he knew his mother would be there to help her out with her dress her mind on the other hand would be filled with as much distractions as his own. After his father's advice Théo found his boxers and began his dress, the tunic of the attire was a little loose around the torso and that was due to his grandpapa being such a big man in stature but nothing the belt would not fix soon enough.

Once dressed he looked himself over in the mirror, the clothes a perfect match for his day and he could see glimpses of Thrand within his own face, the same glimpses set upon his father's and brother but mostly he could see the Corellian in him as well, gifted to him from his mother. For the final touches Théo for a tie on the table near the mirror and with both hands pulled back his long curly black hair and made his man bun before pulling his cloak, a present from his mother, around his broad shoulders.

He had faced many things in his young life, many dangers and situations that required strength within to accomplish but nothing felt so overwhelming as this day and the days to come after it. He would have his wife the girl he loves and will cherish for the rest of his days, a growing family with [member="Boo Heavenshield"] and with the announcement of a child to come, the day in which he only had himself to take care of were over, but he realised they had been for some time already. But was he ready to take on this new responsibility? He looked himself in the eyes in the mirror and smiled, and without hesitation Théo turned on his heels and left the room.

As his hands rested on the door handle, he drew in strength once more, "Alright Heavenshield, time to face the horde". And he entered the main hall to be greeting by a sea of faces, many people here to join in the celebrations of his and Ylva's wedding. The only hesitation in his stride came when the crowd bowed in respect as he passed them heading toward the front of the room to be in position and he clapped eyes on his uncle, [member="Thyrian Hearthfire"]. "You never get used to it do you", he whispered to him taking his uncle in a warm embrace, and he was happy to have the support with him as he awaited his bride.

Turning and looking over the room of faces, he found the familiar face of [member="Valae Heavenshield"], Nina and [member="Yula Perl"] with her boyfriend. But it wasn't until he spotted [member="Makai Dashiell"] did his smile widen to see his childhood friend standing talking to them and he looked forward to speaking to him after the service. "But where is my brother?", he spoke his thoughts aloud. "Were is that toerag". He asked with great love for his little brother.

Ylva Heavenshield

Guest
As [member="Thurion Heavenshield"] and his Wife, her soon to be Mother-in-Law [member="Coci Heavenshield"] stood before her both, Ylva found herself smiling as she watched the Banner of the Wolf bristle out in the open wind of Midvinter, a crest of her own to bare and no longer of the house of Solveig but soon to be called Ylva Heavenshield...-Oh how such an honor she could not have imagined some few years ago before finding love and family her own.

"It's truly amazing..." She whispered, her appreciation and surprise leaving her quietly though she wished truthfully to spring to them both in embrace those whom were the only genuine parental figures she had been blessed with in her life; her pride kept held her back of course.

"Will you permit me to walk you down the aisle, my lady?".
The somewhat out of place Bride turned to look back at Thurion, a wide-eyed glance of surprise mixed with something of a blank, taken back look flashing across her for but a brief moment before she sought to assume control of herself and maintain her composure as best she knew how. "I would be honored, Thurion...-Thank you" she smiled both in appreciation and a fond respect for the man.

Though it would come as no surprise to others, the longer Ylva spent within the company of those with the name of Heavenshield, the greater admiration and respect grew for what kind and compassionate, yet also a strong family of people that they were. Midvinter held a great many mysteries and places of awe, yet beyond all else, it was the family that she was being welcomed into, that had won her heart and loyalty just as [member="Théodred Heavenshield"] had done over the first weeks they had spent with one another in the Iron Empire's company.

"I dare say, you might keep my legs from buckling and making an arse of myself" she soon added in both a moment of confidence and humor, a little bit of her normal self coming out to get a rise of the occasion despite her anxiety and desire to find the approval of all those present. Those many guests and witnesses to this wedding, those most important to the Heavenshields and likely many of the noble men and women of Midvinter itself.

"Perl? My father knows them. Didn't know she had any daughters. Yeah, best of luck with that, you're going to need it."

Makai flashed a boyish grin, surely not doing anything to ease fears that [member="Vik Velkarson"] might have been harboring. He couldn't help it really - if he had to be scared of a girls family he might as well make others nervous as well.

"No, not from Midvinter. My father fancied a fish and well....here I am. Bit of an odd combination but everything seemed to work out alright. Only a few hiccups." Another boyish grin and his hand reached out to playfully squeeze the other mans shoulder. "Half-Galan, born on Ceto."

Head inclined to the rows of seats.

"We should probably sit down now."

Yula couldn’t help but grin at the compliment. “You’re too kind.” Her mother was the one with the good taste, not her.

For the second time on Midvinter, she heard her mother’s name. It made a little more sense now, knowing that this woman was a part of the Heavenshield family.

“Nope, not Joza. I’m her daughter, Yula.” Her grin became larger, if possible. Her eyes traveled away from her conversation partner for a moment, over the woman’s shoulder where she spied Vik continuing his conversation. Heartened that he seemed to be doing well—not that she imagined he wouldn’t, but he’d been a bit uneasy about coming here—she turned back towards Valae.

“Ooh, so you’re a Heavenshield? Neat!” Yula took a sip from her mug, trying to see where she could place this woman on the family tree. An older sister? Maybe an aunt? She didn’t quite look Valkyri, but then again, who knew. “I’m here with my boyfriend, Vik. I’ve never been to a party on Midvinter before.”

As the bride and groom appeared, Yula raised her glass in a mock cheer—of course, they’d be doing plenty of the real thing in short order.

Thirdas perked up at the mention of his name, having all but given up hope that she would come. As the last of the wedding guests were making their way inside behind him, slowly he rose from where he sat while eyes fixated on the figure of Nida running up the steps towards him. All at once he felt happy and terrified in equal measure, his body tensing up and his heart racing; the latter he had long since gotten used to, for he was always seeking out new adventures his young life had to offer in whatever capacity. But to feel it so strongly just from the mere sight of another was a new sensation, as already he had trouble making up his mind as to what to say to her.

Once she stood before him however, he immediately could not help but smile and even found the courage to brush a couple wayward strands of purple hair behind her ear. "H-hello. I think you look perfect," he assured her even as his cheeks took on a reddish hue for but a moment.

"Hey! Don't shut the doors on us," he turned and shouted at the guards already in the process of hauling the absolutely massive wooden doors. Turning back to Nida, Thirdas offered her his hand along with a somewhat stiff and awkward bow. "Care to join me, Lady Perl?"

Slipping through the diminishing crack of the two doors, even though still wide enough for a grown man to fit through, they soon found that inside there was silence as everyone had found their seats and now only awaited the arrival of the bride. Of course, him being close family to the groom, Thirdas and his companion both had seats reserved at the very front, meaning they would have to pass everyone gathered for the occasion and feel the shame of being late. Not the least of which from his mother, he figured.

Walking hand-in-hand with Nida down the aisle in somewhat hurried strides, but without looking like they were in a hurry, once at the front his eyes found those of his older brother Théo as he stood before their Uncle King. Rather than run up and embrace him, instead he felt it more fitting to offer a bow of his head. No doubt they would all wonder who the young lady at his side was, the mere thought of it enough for him to blush once more and caused his legs to refuse to move.

Thankfully a casual wave from his sister Nina put his mind at ease, as he and Nida found their seats beside her. "Thanks," he whispered. Off to the side stood Arnor, too big to sit on Valkyri benches and would more than likely block someone's view no matter what. Nina didn't say anything, but glanced over to the young Zeltron at her brother's side before returning to Thirdas with a knowing smirk. "Shut up," he gave her a light prodding with his elbow, making her let out a hushed giggle.

Even as they sat waiting in silence, he came to the realisation that he was still holding onto her hand. Not that he felt like letting go.

He had met some unique people off world but this young man was on of the strangest. He seemed to know of the Perls, and his comment had Vik intrigued to say the least, obviously there was a history behind his comment about them or at least Yula's mother. Something Vik had suspected, as most people do have a past, but still this inference had left him confused. Only to be confused even more with his parentage, his father had mated with a fish? the oddest of this comment was written in Vik's eyes but he did not have the time to be able to asking him anything further.

He had never heard of Galans or Ceto but from the context it must be his species and homeland. Vik supposed it explained the scales on the young man's neck. He shook his head in wonderment, at the lack of knowledge he truly had of the wider galaxy. There seemed to be a hush fall over the people in the room, the groom had entered and stood up the front. Vik could see and sense Théo was nervous yet there was a strong sense of determination in the man, he had felt that before it was nothing unusual.

"Yes you are right, it is time to take our places". He turned his sights back to Yula with her companion and he approached them both. "If you would excuse me, I think it time we take our places", he smiled at [member="Yula Perl"] and held out his arm for her to take. After which he bow slightly in respect to the lady with Yula, a young woman who had time written on her face and in her eyes, a wealth of knowledge and wisdom in them in such a young face.

"I hope I have the pleasure of speaking with you my lady after the service", he said to [member="Valae Heavenshield"] as the four of them proceeded to their seats, but not before a near collision with a young man and a young girl hurrying up the aisle to the front.

[member="Makai Dashiell"]

Valae's smile only grew. “Ah, that explains it.” She said with a small chuckle. She did recall that Joza had mentioned having had children. And Valae did have to resist the urge to pull the young woman into a hug, and tell [member="Yula Perl"] that she should call her 'Aunty Val.'

It was true, she was ever so excited to be an aunt.

She gave a nod to show that she was indeed a Heavenshield, having been happily adopted into the family. Her eyes then shifted to the the man Yula indicated was her boyfriend. He had quite a regal look, not the typical Midvinter local, if Val had to guess.

“It's cold here, but you'll like it, I'm sure.” She smiled. Valae then offered [member="Vik Velkarson"] a small bow and a polite smile as he came to collect his date. With her own cup of sparkling cider in hand, she took a quick sip before following the others along to their seats.

From her seat, she turned and gave [member="Théodred Heavenshield"] a small wave and an encouraging grin.

Just the sight of him was enough to make her eyes water again. Valae retrieved the handkerchief from her pocket and dabbed the corners of her eyes. She would keep the tiny piece of cloth out this time, for she had a feeling that she'd need it once the ceremony began.

The Jedi Master entered the hall as he was somewhat escorted to where the event was to be taking place. While he had been here once or twice, This was all still new to him. Midvinter had always been an extraordinary place to him. He had hoped once things weren't so crazy in his life to actually get the time to explore as much as he was able too. Kahne had received an invitation to the wedding and he wasn't going to miss it for anything. The Jedi Master was an old friend to [member="Coci Heavenshield"] and while he had never formally met her husband or children. In truth he didn't need to meet them to know who they were.

Kahne primarily knew the rest of the family through reputation, force forbid something were to happen to any of them. They would be mourned by all Jedi and those associated with the light across the galaxy, perhaps even their enemies.

Dressed as well as he could for the occasion, Kahne nodded to the few that he caught glimpse of, giving them a friendly nod. These sorts of things were needed in the galaxy.

Prior to Coci leaving the bride and her future father-in-law, Thurion noted the look in her eye; full of a youthful love, filled with excitement and the promise of new experiences and sensations. For that brief moment time reversed back to their own wedding day, when Coci were pregnant with their firstborn and their great father Thrand Dawnbringer married them in the Great Hall. It had been the happiest day of his life, surpassed only by the birth of his son. No doubt today would offer the same joys, only to again be surpassed by the arrival of a new life.

Gently he took Ylva by the hand, holding it up in formal fashion as they headed towards the throne room entrance. The doors had been shut once all guests were seated and awaiting the bride, and so now all they waited for was the right moment to enter. "I won't let you fall, don't you worry," he smiled at her, watching her struggle to hold back her nerves. "If it comes to that, I'll make it look like part of the show and scoop you up in my arms." Though Ylva was fierce and fearless by nature, it seemed to him she had finally met her match on this occasion as he felt her hand tremble.

Once the throne room went deathly quiet, that was their cue to enter. "Just a short walk down the aisle, and the worst is over," he raised her hand to his lips for a tender kiss, then signalled for the guards to open the twin doors. Immediately the crowd inside all turned to face the two, and so they were off. The only sound save for the gentle taps of their footsteps were chimes of great bells sounded across the capital; their original intent is to warn the city of approaching invaders, but today their purpose was made joyous and hopeful.

Thurion held his head high even as he passed familiar faces scattered across the many rows, right up until they'd arrived at the thrones themselves. There sat the High King and his Queen, his older brother and his wife, both dressed in full regalia with crown and tiara respectively. Thyrian then stood and descended his throne, gesturing for Ylva to assume position beside the groom. With one last reassuring squeeze of her hand Thurion let go, and went to take a seat beside his wife and the rest of his family.

At first, the King said nothing and allowed the moment to linger, a smirk upon his lips as his eyes darted between the two. "Here we go," he then whispered for their ears only, before lifting his gaze to address the room as a whole. "Friends and strangers, family and loved ones! We are gathered here today to witness the coming together of this man and woman with the blessings of the gods." With another gesture he had the bride and groom face one another and take each other's hands. Thyrian would then echo the words of his father.

"May Odiir grant thee the courage to face any obstacle; May Helm grant thee the strength to overcome them; May Teign grant thee the tools and cunning to prevail; May Éar grant thee swiftness of action and grace in victory; May Runa grant thee the wisdom to not stray from thine path." Only this time, he saw fit to make a brief but fitting addition. "And May the Force be with thee, through every struggle and aspect of thine life."

As the King spoke the sacred words, Thurion found that he had taken hold of Coci's hand where they sat, holding her tightly as emotions grew within him. Combined with the actual marriage of his own flesh and blood, his mind mixed in flashes of his own wedding and images of his father. Believing he had his emotions under control, his outward appearance changed little. And yet tears flowed freely down both cheeks, only realised when his wife would wipe them for him.

"Do you have the rings?" Suddenly Thirdas tensed up as he realised he was up. A quick search through his pockets would reveal the two rings, and quickly he got up to present them to the bride and groom in the palm of his hand, sharing a brief look with his older brother before returning to his seat between Nida and Nina.

"I, Thyrian Hearthfire, High King of Midvinter, first of my house and protector of the realm, hereby pronounce these two as husband and wife, blessed by the gods and the Force alike." Smiling fondly, he leaned forward. "Now, kiss her and make it official!"

Normally, Nida would be nervous when someone grabbed her hand and pulled her along. With Thirdas though, she’d gotten used to his lively nature, finding it endearing. “Oh, I hope I haven’t made you late! I’m so sorry!” She whispered hurriedly as they slipped through the entrance, hand in hand. Nida’s stomach twisted, nervous that she’d get Thirdas in trouble and that she’d look out of place along a celebration where people were in fancy dress.

Then, she nearly collided with a pair approaching the tables. She stuttered out an apology before recognizing pink skin, then a face.

“Nida?” Her sister seemed positively bewildered, something they both had in common at this exact moment.

“Yula?” She whispered back while being pulled in the opposite direction. What was her sister doing here? Did she know the bride or groom? Yula was often off on her own adventures nowadays, so the sisters didn’t keep up as much.

She gave a deep, straight-backed bow as they approached the groom and the King, a little too nervous to give them more than a cursory glance before taking her seat with Thirdas. Being at the table with the groom’s family made her nervous, especially as the only one here she knew was Thirdas, and they hadn’t even been friends for that long! The only other person she knew here was Yula, and after scanning further down the rows of tables, she spied her sister, who gave her a wink. That did something to calm her frazzled nerves, at least. Before the ceremony started, she leaned in to whisper to her date. "My big sister is here."

When Thirdas retuned to his seat after delivering the rings, she gave his hand a brief squeeze as if to say, “Good job”. She’d probably trip over her own feet with a task like that.

Ylva Heavenshield

Guest
"Oh be quiet..." Ylva retorted under her breath to [member="Thurion Heavenshield"], a slight laugh escaping her quietly following his suggestion that he'd scoop her up like some lost and helpless Lady in distress; "You're in danger of sounding genuine..." she added, offering him a slightly out of place glance "-Thank you...". Standing before the closed doors that would lead them into the grand hall, her nerves were as rattled as they'd ever been. In battle, she had the company of adrenaline which kicked into gear and swallowed the anxiety against the excitement and rush of both fear and exhilaration, but this was something entirely different.

Ylva only had the briefest of moments to try and compose herself before the doors opened and the pair of them took the first steps that would lead her towards her soon-to-be Husband. [member="Théodred Heavenshield"], her saving grace, the high-born fool she had fallen in love with and somehow wound up becoming the very same, a noble-woman of Midvinter and now blessed with an honorable Family that she still fell short of believing were her own.

Placing one foot in front of the other, the walk felt as long as the trek they had taken across the winter pass; yet she could see him standing at the end of the isle awaiting her and his goofy smile and piercing eyes set her heart alight, her stomach coming alive with butterflies while all at the same time feeling happier than she had ever been. Especially within the public eye. There were so many Guests, so many faces she didn't recognize and yet some odd ones that she did which made her feel that little bit more encouraged. It was difficult not to turn and look directly at anyone, both not wanting to break her composure but also for the anxiety over the likely thoughts her mind convinced her they were having. Was her dress appropriate? Did they believe she were worthy of her Théodred.

The release of her hand caused her to blink, coming back to and glancing back to her Father-in-Law with something of a sheepish grin, whispering softly to him in thanks before moving to join Théo's side. With her back turned to the crowded room, she made a face that suggested both a threat but too a sense of amusement and embarrassment all the same. He of course would know all too well how she were handling the situation. Just by the skin of her teeth.

"Friends and strangers, family and loved ones! We are gathered here today to witness the coming together of this man and woman with the blessings of the gods.
May Odiir grant thee the courage to face any obstacle; May Helm grant thee the strength to overcome them; May Teign grant thee the tools and cunning to prevail; May Éar grant thee swiftness of action and grace in victory; May Runa grant thee the wisdom to not stray from thine path. And May the Force be with thee, through every struggle and aspect of thine life."
I, Thyrian Hearthfire, High King of Midvinter, first of my house and protector of the realm, hereby pronounce these two as husband and wife, blessed by the gods and the Force alike. Now, kiss her and make it official!"
The words that were spoken sounded beautiful, and with her hands within his, Ylva looked back to Théodred with a loving smile, her gaze full of nothing but adoration and pride for who he was and who she were to become following the day. To be made his Wife under the watching eyes of the Gods, joined together in life by the ever present and flowing Force that bound everything around them. He made it so bloody difficult not to break the cue and move to kiss him first, the desire was there only half way through the King's speech, yet she did her part as was planned and part of the tradition...

Only, the moment that he kissed her would take her breath away. Everyone else would be drowned out, silenced by the moment that his lips touched hers and the emotion lifted her heart in her chest for how she felt for him. Never had she cared for another so much as she did, Théodred Heavenshield. Never before, had she believed that a man could affect her in such a way that her knees weaken by his touch.

[member="Vik Velkarson"] | [member="Théodred Heavenshield"] | [member="Makai Dashiell"] | [member="Coci Heavenshield"] | [member="Yula Perl"] | [member="Thurion Heavenshield"] | [member="Thirdas Heavenshield"]

The conversations around them began and settled down as people found their seats. Right on cue, [member="Vik Velkarson"] appeared to escort her away. “Cold indeed, but it’s a lovely place. It was nice meeting you! We’ll have to talk more soon.” She took Vik’s arm and gave the woman a departing wave. But as she and Vik made for their seats, they nearly collided into another pair rushing to the front.

The glimpse of pink was enough to get her curious, but when she looked into the face of her own sister, Yula was shocked.

“Nida?” She asked incredulously, her sister, it was indeed her sister, returning the same level of disbelief. As quickly as she’d come, she’d been whisked away at the hand by a young blonde man. Yula squinted in his direction, curious and somewhat apprehensive over what had just happened.

She straightened up, leaning in a little closer to Vik as they took their seats. “That was the littlest Perl, Nida. My younger sister.” She whispered, not worrying about keeping her voice too soft with his fine hearing. “That means that my mother is here. Have you seen her? I wonder where she is…she’s going to miss the ceremony.” Yula looked around to try and find her mother, who she assumed would be here if Nida was. Nida never traveled alone, and certainly not to a place this far from home.

For all her searching, Yula couldn’t lay eyes on pink skin and red hair in one. It was doubtful that her mother would try and conceal herself, and she loved parties. Built a whole business off of parties. Where was she? Instead, her gaze finally came to rest on her little sister, sitting up at the front with the blonde boy and looking positively anxious. Also, why wasn’t she wearing a dress? Nida had dresses. So many questions. Regardless, she gave Nida a reassuring smile and a wink for good measure.

Like many of the guests here, Yula watched the ceremony in joyful silence, her head coming to rest on Vik’s shoulder as she watched the bride and groom. Théo looked so proud and handsome, and his bride was a beauty with a fierce air about her. Their first kiss as husband and wife radiated nothing but love.

The waiting had become intolerable, his uncle was no help sitting on his throne awaiting the arrival of the bride with the rest of them. Théo had never felt so isolated and alone at this point, in a room full of people and family and friends, all eyes upon him and he was never so grateful to Thirdas as he burst into the room with a girl and hurried down the aisle, the focus was on him for a short time, and it gave Théo the pause to take breath once more. It was almost immediate the room fell silent, the turning of the door handles that led into the main room echoed loud in his mind and for that moment his heart stopped as he turned his gaze to the end of the aisle.

It is in these moments that all manner of madness runs through the mind, will the doors open to his father only with a face grave with grave news that the bridge has changed her mind, that she fled .. what if .. what if...

And then he saw her and everything vanished, there were no people in the room, no sound save for the rapid beating of his heart against his chest, no need to breath as she was enough to sustain him. Théo knew the beauty of [member="Ylva Solveig"], the wild nature of her face and body, the long red hair set aflame and her heart as strong and brave as any he had ever met, and her capacity to love something she would not admit to and he smiled. Her golden dress flowing around her as she moved toward him, lead by his father and as she neared him he reached out his hand to her to take. "You look stunning", he managed to say to her as she took her position.

The pair turned toward his uncle the King, as he began the service the smile never left his face nor his eyes from she's. He was only snapped back to the reality of the situation when Thirdas approached bearing the rings from which he took and place it on her finger. "You are mine, and I am yours", he whispered so only she would hear. "From this day, until the end of days".

Her trembling hands only mitigated by his own yet he squeezed hers gently pulling her to him and there was no need for encouragement from the King, Théo kissed her deeply with no care as to who would see or what they thought, and far longer than protocol deemed. But when the kiss did finally end, she smiled at her placing her forehead to her's, "I love you Ylva .. Heavenshield".

Like any mother to looks upon her child, Théo was still that young boy that used to get himself and others, into trouble. Even though he stood before everyone in the Hall as a man and now husband, he would always be her boy. His first glimmer of life set upon the stage of war over twenty five or more years ago and at the time she and Thurion did not know it, was visited by the Gods. One could argue they had a hand in it, something was special about him but she realised that none of them would ever truly know, maybe Théo would in time.

His path now on a different course, a father he is and to be again, but that was not all that would be presented to him in the years to come. So proud of the man he had become, still filled with a child's sense of mischief but he is strong of heart and will and a good match for the likes of the lady standing by his side now. Now his wife. She squeezed Thurion's hand not only from comfort for him but herself as well, so much investment they had pledged to their children, such protection that one could possibly give, and yet allowed them the freedom to be.

Théo had grown into himself, not stood under the shadow of the name Heavenshield, but rather forged his own name and stood under his own banner which would see that House prevail in the furture. The strength of blood now aligned .. the stag and the wolf and yet she could not shake the feeling that there was a touch of divine providence in this union. She leaned into Thurion's shoulder turning toward him with a smile before her hand raised to wipe away his falling tears only for them to be replaced with her own, and she could not help but chuckle at their silliness in the situation. Tears of joy they are, almost as much as the joy their children give them when entering the world.

As the newly married couple turned to face those gathered to celebrate with them, she stood next to Thurion as they rose from their seats and were among the first to congratulate them on this day. "I am so proud of you Théo, and you Ylva .. I love you both", she kissed them both before stepping back to allow Thurion is way.

"Your sister?", Vik spun in his place trying to locate the young girl he almost collided with, and that young golden haired boy and he found them up the front just as the ceremony began. They would have to locate them later, but he had not seen Yula mother, no doubt would have sensed her presence if she was here. After they sat, he leaned over to Yula's ear. "No I don't think your mother is here". He whispered, but the conversation was stopped as the King stepped forward and began the words of the vows.

As it progressed Vik's brow pulled inward, the words he spoke of the Valkyri Gods set upon Vik's mind and heart more heavy than he had expected. The truth of it was, he had not expected anything, let alone hearing each of his godly family members singled out with a sense of virtue. It was not lost on Vik that his father Velkar was not among them. He supposed he should not be. Now he truly did feel awkward present here, he lowered his gaze to the floor yet his eyes remained fixed around him, and he noted some of the Valkyri that had spied him earlier looking his way once more.

Vik was every so grateful the service was over quickly and as everyone stood and broke their silence, Vik turned to Yula taking her hand and placing a kiss upon her fingers. His smile forced but he tried for her sake, "I need to get some air, this room is stifling .. I am sorry, I shall catch up with you later". It was a weak excuse, but regardless he bowed his head toward her and left the Hall to find air and solace from the eyes. It seemed the gaze of eyes are still haunting him, just for an entirely different reason.

To thine own self be true ..

How can I do that, when I don't know what I am.

Valae's smile only grew at the sight of her Master escorting the bride. How fortunate she felt, for she was to be here with family now... something her early life had so sorely lacked. And when the King began to speak, Valae pressed the edge of her hanky to her lips. His words were spoken with such eloquence and with a force of presence that she couldn't even wish for. All eyes were upon them, the bride and groom.

Ylva with her fiery mane, was quite a lovely sight to behold. She was a woman of strength, and Valae knew that she must be true of heart – otherwise, Theo would never have given her a second glance. Her chestnut eyes, slightly water, focused on the bride... Valae, for one, was very excited for the chance to know her better.

And Theo, what could she say about him? He looked quite dashing standing there, his own stare focused and sincere. In his tone was love, it was unmistakable. And Valae suddenly felt a great swell of pride and admiration for her friend, her brother.

She closed her eyes for a moment, and made a silent wish for a lifetime of happiness for Theo and Ylva and their growing family. Though she rose with the others at the ceremony's close, she did not move forward quite yet. The crowd was eager, Thurion and Coci among the first to offer well wishes, as it should be.

“Congratulations,” She mouthed the word, beaming at Theo from across the room.

With the ceremony over, guests rose and once again began to mill about. Some stayed among friends, others found themselves in the company of friendly strangers, and other still went to personally congratulate the bride and groom. Even before Vik had excused himself, Yula sensed his unease.

She only nodded to him as he apologized, try to catch his eyes with a look of sympathy. She didn’t know what was wrong, but had an inkling that it was something about the gods being mentioned. Even before the ceremony, he’d expressed his worries over being here, given the physical similarities to his father. A man who was not to be trusted, the stories said.

As much as Yula wanted to run after and comfort him, she didn’t want to draw any more unwelcome attention to Vik. For a few minutes she sipped at her drink, lost in thought, wanting to give him several moments to himself. One part of her wanted to stay and meet up with Nida but…ah, she seemed to be in good hands for the time being. She’d make sure to have a drink or two with her baby sister before the night was over.

Not content to wait any longer, the Zeltron pushed herself up from the table and followed the path Vik had taken. She found an exit in the form of a side door, the warmth and festive noise of the great hall muffled as she shut it behind her.

“Vik…” She approached him, taking his face in her hands. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?” Her face furrowed in concern, trying to search his brilliant eyes for an answer.

Even with all the time Audren was away and occupied with projects, he still managed to hear about the upcoming wedding of Théo and Ylva. Or more correctly, the news was left with a message to him which was forwarded several times until it actually reached him. Despite the fact that he'd disappeared for so long, they'd thought to invite him. Quite frankly, it was unlike most others in the galaxy and very much in character for the Heavenshields. The very least he could do was attend. Regardless of the plans that had already been made or other requirements he had, the schedule was cleared to allow his attendance.

The gift was a bit of a stumbling point. Though he'd spent a decent amount of time amongst Valkyri, that time hadn't been at weddings and hadn't been big with learning traditions. Heck, he wasn't even sure if it would be considered proper to get a gift. Théo at least had been around the galaxy enough to not be offended if it was considered offensive for the people as a whole. There was also the problem about what to get. The young groom was a Jedi Master of his own right and as such already had a lightsaber, in addition to other Valkyri-made weapons. He had a ship, a brewery...there was very little that Audren could provide that the younger man didn't already have. Ylva...he wasn't sure about. He barely knew her, which was really his own fault.

Eventually he settled on a simple gift. It was a crystal rock, not purchased but found. It was no gemstone to carry monetary worth, not clear or consistent enough to focus a lightsaber or other weapon with, not refined enough to serve as decoration in a home. It carried no special powers, no boost to sensitivity or healing or calm. That wasn't to say it wasn't special: though inanimate, it was slightly Force-sensitive. The Jedi Master had simply found it to serve as an effective visual focus for meditation. He could sink into the depths, the internal contours guiding his thoughts in useful directions. Hopefully the two would find it useful as well.

The Sephi arrived on time and slipped into the venue casually. He was seen - it would be impossible to not be here - but nobody stopped him to chat. Everyone present wore formal clothing of some form, and he was no exception. The cloak - required for the standard Midvinter weather - was hung neatly with the others; the place was warm enough to not need it and would only get warmer as more people arrived. Without it, he almost blended right in. After all, he was not the only non-Valkyri in attendance. Nor, to his surprise, was he the only one with pointed ears, though he suspected Aelvar involvement rather than Sephi or another of the myriad elfin races in the galaxy.

As expected, there were more than a few faces that he recognized here at the ceremony. Théo and Ylva were both dressed in simple yet elegant formality, as were the others taking part in the service. No multi-million credit decoration here. In like manner, the proclamation was short and covered the bases of the Force, local deities, and the blessing of mortal authorities. As the newly-married couple turned to face the guests, one made his way outdoors while the others lined up to congratulate the two. It was not anger that flowed through the being but confusion leading to frustration, so he did not intervene. Moments later, as he was in line to greet and congratulate his friends, someone followed the boy outside. He would not be left to stew alone and the primary focus could remain on the celebration of the happy couple.

"Break out the mead!" The High King's command caused a loud cheer among the crowd, for with the ceremony concluded now the merriment was to commence! Casks of ale and mead of every kind were torn open by eager hands, and within minutes tankards and mugs were filled and passed around. Doors were flung open as from the kitchens large trays of meats, fruits and vegetables were carried inside the throne room and placed upon every table. Now that formalities were dealt with, Thyrian stripped himself of his crown and tossed it upon the seat of his throne before joining the festivities.

With all this going on, Thurion had risen from his seat to congratulate his son and daughter-in-law, throwing his arms around them both for a big hug. "Well done, Son. Well done," he whispered past Théo's ear, then placed a fatherly kiss upon his and Ylva's cheek respectively before stepping back to allow Coci and the rest of the family to congratulate the happy couple. Nina had been the first following her mother's well-wishes, pouncing on Théo.

"I am so happy for you, little brother," she beamed a smile at him, before nuzzling into his shoulder and the familiar leather coat he wore. She'd seen it once before, on a very similar occasion decades earlier shorly before her brother's arrival. "Grandpapa would be so proud," she pulled back to meet his gaze, the blue eyes of their father and his father before him. She then turned to Ylva, looking so radiant in her dress. It felt like a lifetime since last she herself wore one, having been either in battle or on the road for so long. Even for this occasion she still wore dark leather pants and a white shirt, albeit without the accompanying dust and dirt. "Welcome to the family, sister," she embraced the bride. "We should go hunting sometime," she added with a smirk, having heard of Ylva's skill. She herself had learnt a thing or two.

Thirdas, meanwhile, had kept a respectable distance with Nida at his side, having never once let go of her hand. He'd never been to an event like this before, and frankly felt a bit out of place. He suspected Nida felt similarly, if not more so. Finally he approached Théo at his mother's urging and put his arms around him. "Congratulations to you, brother," he said gingerly at first, but with every moment he felt more relaxed in Théo's embrace. "And to you, Ylva," he turned to the redhead with a bow of his head. Thirdas then turned and reached out to Nida, bidding her to come forward. "This is [member="Nida Perl"]. She's a friend of mine."

With celebrations now in full swing, Thurion caught one [member="Kahne Porte"] in the crowd and decided to break off from the others. "Master Porte," he greeted him with the traditional Jedi bow, one that was engrained in every fibre of his being. "I am honoured to finally meet you in person. My wife speaks so highly of you, I'm at a loss for why we have not met sooner." He managed to snatch an apple from a passing tray of food and took a large bite. "So tell me, how do you find Midvinter?"
