There and Back Again (The Primeval Dominion of Helska)

STAR WARS
EPISODE ?
THERE AND BACK AGAIN
It is a dark time for the Rebellion. Although they won on Makeb,
the Primeval warlord DREDGE has retrieved the top secret location
of a rebel base on Helska IV. ANJA AJ'ROU, their Host Lord has
has ordered The March to purge the ice-world.
As Bastion, the once Imperial capital, fell into Primeval hands,
The Rebels will have to face a force far more powerful than
the Red Ravens criminal syndicate and their Chiss leader.
Despite their new ties with the Galactic Republics, the Rebel Alliance's
base is left without aid as billions of people vanished across the galaxy...
Above Helska IV, The Primeval's fleet -- under the command of Anja Aj'Rou -- has arrived out of hyperspace. It wasn't too long ago that these zealots had faced the Shadow Dynasty in a contested match for control of the Helska System. Now, nearly unopposed, the Rebel Alliance's base is the target of this onslaught. Their aim: To control the Helska System and eliminate the Rebellion's positioning in their sector of space.

"Host Lord, we've received a signal; most of our fleet will be delayed. Should we continue?", her most trusted officer approached.

Anja thought quickly, "Continue. I want all dropships deployed to the surface; get those ground teams ready.", she ordered.

As that was said her fleet began to move...

THE FLEET
x1 Deliverance-class
x4 Bastion-class
x1 Raze-class

A ghost fleet had emerged from the Unknown Regions and had claimed the once mighty Bastion for it's own. Now fell into it's gaze was the world of Helska, where one of the galaxies most unnecessary invasion in generations had been staged. To say that the Shadow Dynasty had put up a defense at all was laughable. To say it was amicable would be something akin to a bad joke. As the galaxy fell under the terror of a foe who had ventured through the annuals and passages of time, so did another on the bridge of Deliverance-class Heavy Cruiser.

Vilox Pazela was a ghost. Who was he? Where had he come from? How did he know of the Primeval? [member="Anja Aj'Rou"] had come closest to discovering those answers and yet she was no where closer to learning more about the Dark Master and his reasons for being here. Rumors of a following that Pazela sought to create in the ghost fleets that served the Primeval were running rift; and why wouldn't Anja and the lost souls that the Host Lord had collected would not come to follow?

Hands clasped into either of his robes sleeves, the Dark Jedi watched upon the frozen world for second time, waiting for all of this to come to pass. Helska would fall, a scheme would come closer to fruition, but would it come to a realisation?

It remained to be seen.

The powercell being pulled into my 'ol Reliable Blaster rifle felt so good. I didn't have feeling, but it felt like it as there was a tension in the air. We were prepared to make our leap of faith down to the planet below. We were going to take over the planet. After billions of people just upped and vanished, almost all of the forces on the planets were gone. Setting back just about every faction or group out there. Meaning there was a lot of space, and a lot of room to move.

With a BTI-838 Sniper rifle slung over my shoulder, and a few hex grenades being strapped onto my waist, I picked up the helmet for my armor. I was an HRD. Meaning I could still wear armor over my body. It was still female in nature and shape. Therefore I was decked out in the new suit of armor I had. Adjusting everything on there nice and tight, I grabbed my cloak and pulled it over the armor. Still wanting the hood up. It was normal for me.

And I liked it. Walking towards the drop pods, we exited hyperspace. For an odd reason, I felt like smiling. And my droid face tried to as best it could.

"We're here to kark poodoo up."

I can't believe I just said that.....

Mikkel couldn't help but chuckle at what he heard the woman ([member="Wanderer EXO"]) in front of him say that. Loading the box magazine into his K29, screwing his new suppressor onto the end, and chambering a round into the barrel as he walked, Mikkel stepped into the drop pod and sat across from the cloaked woman. Mikkel checked his loadout: K29, E-41r blaster rifle, 4 thermal detonators, 2 flash bangs, and plenty of ammo.

"You ready?" Mikkel asked the stranger.

I moved into the drop pod and took a seat. About to strap myself in when a man sat across from me. Carrying a sniper rifle as well, I looked him over as he asked me if I was ready. Good, he hadn't seen my face. Therefore he doesn't know me. I shook my head at him and strapped myself in. Ignoring him for now, I grabbed a hold of my blaster rifle and checked that everything was ready.

Looking back to him, it was only a few seconds after I decided to act like he wasn't there, I spoke.

"Why would you be asking me that, and why are you still looking at me?"

Admiral Wan Min Brightsky stood on the bridge of Home One. This was her first combat outing as head of the Alliance fleet and she was nervous. She knew that the crews of the Rebel ships were battle hardened combat veterans. They had seen the worst that the galaxy had to offer. She was unsure of her own abilities, but she was damn ready to give the Primeval the fight they deserve. "All Alliance crews, this is Admiral Brightsky. We are about to leave hyperspace above Helska IV and defend our outpost against the onslaught of the Primeval. I won't lie to you: The Primeval are a tough, determined force and they will stop at nothing to destroy our base, take this system, and use it to attack systems throughout this sector. We are on the front lines of the fight against darkness. They will stop at nothing to defeat us. With us are the hopes and dreams of every freedom loving person in this sector. We fight for them today."

"Fighter and bomber crews, to your craft. All ship crews make ready for combat. May the Force Be With Us," Min said into the PA system.

With that, the Alliance fleet dropped out of hyperspace and made best speed to engage the enemy.

The Rebel fleet dropped out of hyperspace to aid their base's defense. This was a surprise; she hadn't expected the enemy to be so reactive. Perhaps she underestimated them but no less she had to act quickly and give out orders to her small vanguard. "I want those Bastion's in defensive positions now, have them trail back and defend the transports. Captain, position Order's End so that our forward weapons are facing them.", she commanded. Quickly the Bastion-classes -- known for their speed -- banked back to protect their Raze-class transports.

"I want our gu-55 bomber sqaudron ready to deploy, keep the gu-20's on standby.", the officers were relaying her messages across the ship and to the other ships in the fleet. The Deliverance-class boasted amongst the fastest speeds for a heavy-cruiser. It wasn't incredible by any ship's standards but the nearly nine-hundred meter vessel was able to turn in the enemy's direction quite quickly, the warhead launchers prepared assault concussion missiles to be launched at the enemy fleet and its forward guns were nearly in range.

"Hold position, fire when ready."

Sannika Brynn

Let me tell you about a Rebellion...
Rogue Three, pilot of Kantankerous Kill, was awakened from her bunk aboard Home One, the Rebel Alliance's flagship. Klaxons sounded and belched at her ears, annoying her deeply. However, this was no drill, and things were not exactly bright and sunshiney on this occasion. Sannika wasted no time diving into her flight jumpsuit and scrambling for the hangar, her small legs carrying her at a tremendous speed and in great style as the sporty, dancing pilot lunged at the ladder of her Copycat: Sprite-equipped Adril-class starfighter--one of the few still in Rebellion service--and lifted herself into the cockpit. A snack bar was handed to her inside her helmet, and she chewed it down really fast as she donned her headgear.

The tukian twi'lek starfighter pilot gave a double thumbs-up, and the deck personnel cleared her ship and backed away after closing the canopy. All engines burst to life after a few seconds, and Sannika Brynn was on her way out the hangar bay.

"Yo! It's Rogue Three. Give me an objective, pretty please." She supposed it might be probable that she was meant to gun for those big ships in the distance.

Mikkel was surprised at the question. Was he looking at her? Realizing that it was a misunderstanding, Mikkel adjusted the helmet of his tactical armor and responded. "Just trying to make conversation. And I wasn't staring at you, I was going through the HUD making sure it was calibrated for all of my weapons."

Mikkel sighed and looked down. It wasn't until after Bastion that he realized just how he had acted. Gunning down civilians and surrendering soldiers, he wondered what had set him off the edge. From the chatter he heard through the comms in his helmet, it sounded like the battle of Helska IV would be on more...even ground.

"You're an Echo as well, right? Haven't seen you around before. Hope this isn't the last time I see you too, if that means anything."

Min looked over the fleet deployment. "Implacable and Inevitable, target the enemy Heavy Cruiser, designate target Heavy-One. Fighters and bombers split: Rogue Squadron and half of the bomber squadrons, target the enemy transports, say again target enemy transports. Other half of our bombers target the enemy heavy cruiser. Second half of fighters split: One half engage enemy fighters and bombers, other half guard our bombers. Antilles and Nova One, I need you to move in and support our fighters engaging the enemy. Once enemy fighters and bombers have been driven off, move into close range and target the enemy Heavy Cruiser. Home One will stay at position designate Alpha-One to provide orders. Good hunting."

As the fleet exited Hyperspace things already looked bad. The Rebels had them out numbered and it looked like they faced a numbers issue. “All fighters launch all bomber crews prepare and launch after the fighters have left. Set the fleet into attack formation Delta eight. Link up communications so all our ships can share comms data to avoid being cut off. Fighters move yourselves to attack the enemy bombers first then strike at the smaller craft to distract from the bombers who will move in to target their carrier. Frigates arm your Mass driver cannons once in range fire at the battlecruisers try to knock out their ion cannons. We need the use these weapons first to by pass the deflector shields they got. After than fire at will and move to strike at the larger ships flanks.” She calmly watched the read out and moved her ships forward “This is Captain Laizoc Auczupew to Prtimeval forces we are moving in to support you here. Lets teach these rebels what a mistake it was coming here.”

Min looked over the statistics of the new fleet assets for the Primeval. "Kriff, kriff," she muttered. The enemy fleet had doubled in size and had some formidable combat assets. "All ships, switch over to encoded Alliance comms on my mark...mark. Fighters and bombers continue designated attack runs, the odds are good that they'll go after you first. All heavy assets, target long range ion cannons on the enemy capital ships and heavy cruisers. Designate targets Heavy-One and Heavy-Two as priority targets. Keep us out of the gravity well of Helska IV and do not let them move us towards the planet either, I won't have us fighting with our backs up against a wall."

"We need to keep out of range of their mass drivers, so keep as much distance as is possible between us and them. Make sure that they don't try to envelop us or straddle us. If they hit us with enfilade fire we're bantha fat in a fire. I'm contacting Alliance Actual to order in the rest of our re-enforcements, I'll be damned if I'll let the Primeval think we're backing down from this. Remember, hit the transports as hard as you can. If we can take them down then their purpose for fighting here is over and they'll withdraw. For the Alliance and democracy!"

"Your Worship, reinforcements have arrived.", an officer announced to her. Anja simply nodded back and looked over the ships that had just arrived; Carnage-class heavy frigates were valuable. Having four of them was a blessing. With this in mind she could change tactics up a bit. Of course the main priority was defense but it would make things difficult to let them get the better of their forces, their experiences fighting the Imperial Remnant and the Shadow Dynasty had bolstered their naval tactics quite a bit.

Anja activated the intercom, "This is Anja Aj'Rou, I'm glad to see you, Captain.", she was referring to [member="Laizoc Auczupew"] , "I want your cruiser behind those transports but once above on the Z axis with your starboard to them, use those flak guns to your advantage.", she ordered. Hopefully the captain would heed her command; with that he was free to utilize his frigates as he saw fit -- to her at least. With the bastion's already in place, they should have a sturdy defense to protect her transports.

"Our sensors indicate that they're charging ion cannons.", the sensory officer announced.

"Divert all energy to the --"

"Create a crossfire pattern with our forward turbolasers, use the spread once the ions fire; shoot in their general direction, we can meet the blast halfway.", she ordered.

There was no guarantee that the strategy would work, it could lessen the ion blast, dissipate it completely, or fail miserably. The captain -- who was interrupted -- was taken aback by the order but the other officers were already complying. If there's one thing any officer hates , it's being talked over, but none would dare oppose the Host Lord in battle.

Well, it seems all but the Rebel Alliance.

As she listened to the Host Lord she Adjusted her fleets movements the Rebels were moving to try and maximize the use of their ion cannons. "All Frigates move to flank split off and go for the battle cruisers two on each ship can't out maneuver two ships from different directions. Fighter squadrons I need two flights to guard the bombers and four to defend the transports. The rest attack enemy fighters and bombers engage at will." As her own Cruiser came under target she already was targeting with her own ion cannons but she knew those needed time so she fired the barrage of turbo lasers at them hoping to force them to break the attack and make easier fodder for the frigates. "Switch in auxiliary power to the deflector shield try to dampen the ion cannons effects as much as possible."

"Aye captain" They replied as the shields intensified though they could only drop off most of the energy several did manage to begin to foul up her ships computers. The good news was it passed in a few seconds and she could soon fire her heavier weapons. All she truly needed though was to hope her frigates got through and could flank and blast the enemy ships with the mass driver cannons. In the mean time she simply fired onward with the turbo laser batteries and her own ion cannons.

Min watched as the fleet began their maneuvering and the fire intensified. "All fighters and bombers, the enemy's new assets appear to be maneuvering towards us so watch your six. They're trying to get into range to hit us with those mass drivers. Corvettes and blockade runners, split up. Half stay with our fighters, the other half make for our battle cruisers. Shield them from the enemy attacks. Use your Concussion Missiles and turbolasers. Draw their fire away from our heavy assets. All capital ships, concentrate ion cannons on target designate Heavy-One. Hit their command ship with as many ion blasts as possible. Once we cripple it, we can switch to Heavy-Two. If their heavy command vessels are removed from the fight, then we cripple their decision-making ability. Don't give them a moment to think! We control this battle, not them!"

Min watched as her battle cruisers and Home One opened fire on the Order's End, a massive wave of ion blasts shot towards the enemy vessel.

Taking a look at the man as he said that his helmet was being calibrated, I stayed silent. Instead, I looked around in the drop pod knowing that this would be one awkward ride.

The engines fired up and began to push out of the hangar bay as soon as everyone was inside and the doors shut and locked. This should be a level playing field. However, that does not mean it would be hard to find a sniping spot. Considering I had a sniper rifle that could fire out to ranges of 1.5 kilometers, I knew that if I got a good spot to snipe from, it wouldn't be hard to just sit there and pick off troops one by one. However, if the Rebels were smart, they would stay outside of my radicle.

Deciding to answer his question, it was only one word.

"Delta."

Clearly making the point that I didn't care if we worked together again or not. Disgusting near-humans.

Verd Skirata

Fancy flyin' and good fightin' make for a good day
Verd Skirata dropped out of hyperspace in his Beskad-Class Starfighter he had recently purchased, which was augmented with his MH-PU18 Hyperdrive Ring and Quickly switched to Rogue Squadron frequencies. "Rogue-7 here and ready to go, Sorry I missed the opening event. Whats the orders for Rogue Squadron?" He asked detatching from his hyperdrive ring and pushing his ship to the max speed towards the battle. Seeing rogue 3 on his radar, he headed towards [member="Sannika Brynn"] as fast as his engines could muster.

Kitsune was on board the Saboath Defender, the ISS Mikoshi, when she received news of another invasion from her adjutant. Again? she thought to herself. Immediately rising from her seat, she paused for a moment to survey the situation before her. A large fleet of Galactic Alliance ships had emerged and threatened their fragile existence.

She stated resolutely, "Immediately engage for hyperspace and position ourselves on the stern sides of the Rebel fleet. We need to land on Helska without damage to the ISS Mikoshi."

The crew immediately nodded and proceeded to jump into hyperspace, and shortly emerging from the other side. They immediately initiated the descent protocols in order to land on Helska.

Further continuing her orders, "We set up base a few clicks from the Rebel outpost. After setting our base up, we will then assist the current assault force, if our assistance is required."

As the Recalcitrant reverted to realspace, Corruck felt a twinge of guilt. He had been the one to reveal this planet's base to Dredge. He very much regretted his decision, but lives had been at stake. The treachery that he had expected had been dished out at the end of interrogation. Corruck hadn't left that planet without a few things to remember it by.

He looked down at where his right arm had once been, now gone. He had a replacement mechanical arm, but in this battle he decided that he would do without. It was probably some form of memory and trying to recompense for his failure. He couldn't read his own feelings, there were too many. This was the planet where he had tested his weapons, but aside from that he cared little for it. The only saving grace for him was that this was the only base he had given away the location of. Even that seemed hollow in his ears now.

He spoke into the comm set to the Rebel frequency. "Home One, this is Recalcitrant. We have entered the system and are preparing for engaging the enemy forces."

He turned to Rathur, who had pulled up a tactical screen of the battle. "What are we dealing with?"

Rathur shook his head as he spoke, "It doesn't look good. They've got a lot of firepower. So far it seems the Rebels are targeting the command ship."

Corruck nodded and spoke into the intercom, "Nothy, aim for the command vessel."

He turned to Sheera at the controls and continued, "Give us a fly by, we need to rejoin the Rebel fleet if we are to be much of a help."

As he turned back to the tactical screen, centered around the Recalcitrant which was farther off from the Rebel fleet and would have to cross through the Primeval fleet to get to them, he heard the first ion rounds flying from the four ion cannons on his ship. It wouldn't be much against a ship of that size, but all the damage that could be done would be better that nothing.

Mikkel could taste the disdain in [member="Wanderer EXO"] 's voice. He gave a quick nod and gave his rifle a once over, just to be sure everything worked smoothly. Looking at the ship's radar, he saw enemy ships engaging their pod. Confident in the gunboats escorting them, he calmly watched the red blips slowly disappear around them.

When the drop pod touched ground, Mikkel jumped out and took a couple soldiers with anti-material weapons. Kindly waving back to Wanderer, Mikkel and his soldiers stealthily made their way to a ridge just under a kilometer from the base, the base itself in clear view. "In clear view over the base, waiting for our men to initiate the first strike. Delta, where are you setting up with that rifle of yours?" Mikkel said over the short range comms.
