I understand that seals are important, I simply don't think we know enough about Kel Dor physiology or technology to assume that structural damage would render it useless or non-functional. For example, I'm not sure if the mask covers the mouth because the Kel Dor's breath through their mouth or if the tubes that run from the mask to the extra-sensory organs are the important part of the mask and the covering of the mouth and face is more aesthetic. Kel Dors are considered pretty ugly by many after all.

And obviously if its logical, justifiable and not breaking any rules, I'm going to react in a way that doesn't involve my character dropping dead in one move.

He can still evade simply by stepping to the side. Albrecht's method of attack didn't exactly leave much of a margin for error, meaning that the only way that Ki'an will take a hit is if he pretty much stands perfectly still, and since he's already fighting somebody else, that's highly unlikely even for a Form V user.
