Tier 7 - Expanding The Horizon

Silara Vantai said:
Perhaps a merger of two large companies? I really don't know what would be much bigger than a tier VI, unless it's an umbrella corporation that literally exists to run other large companies.

Hmm, not many folks would actually want to "merge" per se. They like to keep their goodies to themselves.

I'm still very uncertain about this "bidding" war option, as those may come few and far in between, and I'm not sure how that would quantify the ability to be Tier 7. It would be my recommendation to remove that requirement.

An Immense Project in itself can be several threads in the making, about 5 or more development threads just to satisfy the requirement.

Yeah I'm sold. Let's make Tier 7 less about "achieving the same ol' same ol" and more fitting with the theme of brutal nature of capitalism and making other companies suffer for it.

- Make a Tier IV or higher company go bankrupt.
- Cause another company to be reduced in tier.
- Buy out another company's subsidiaries.
- Have a Major Faction seize assets of another company and reallocate them to your own company.
- Commit massive corporate espionage on another company.
- Have a opposing CEO/Company Owner assassinated.
- Cause an economic calamity within the Galaxy.

Have we also considered putting a limit on how many Tier VIIs there can be at one time?

I would like to suggest just one.
I'm okay with this starting out.

Maybe 2, but I'd like to get a better view of the company situation to judge numbers.

We should also somewhat incorporate the corporate warfare aspect into later advancement requirements (starting after a company has achieved tier IV) so we don't end up dropping radically different objectives on company owners out of nowhere.

Okay so this is what we have so far with also what Tef just posted.

So it would look like this: Maybe?

Tier IV to Tier V

  • Sign a contract with two more major factions OR Tier V+ companies.

  • Make an additional three mass-produced products.

  • Complete five miscellaneous threads.

  • Successfully complete a project of sizable proportions.

  • Obtain the sponsorship of a major faction.

Sponsorship is essentially when a sufficiently large major faction decides to back your company's endeavors specifically. This can either be by them giving you a large, direct annual subsidy, signing a long-term contract, and other things that would tie the government of that faction and your company close together.

[*]Begin to build your Capitalist Empire ( at least one of the following) ( Please someone think of some way to make it sound more clearly defined.)
  1. Make a Tier IV or higher company go bankrupt.
  2. Cause another company to be reduced in tier.
  3. Buy out another company's subsidiaries.
  4. Have a Major Faction seize assets of another company and reallocate them to your own company.
  5. Commit massive corporate espionage on another company.
  6. Have a opposing CEO/Company Owner assassinated.
  7. Cause an economic calamity within the Galaxy.

Tier V to Tier VI

  • Sign a contract with two more major factions OR Tier V+ companies.

  • Make an additional four mass-produced products.

  • Complete six miscellaneous threads.

  • Successfully complete a project of immense proportions.

  • Obtain the permanent sponsorship of another major faction.
  • Begin to build your Capitalist Empire ( at least two of the following) ( Please someone think of some way to make it sound more clearly defined.)

Tier VI to Tier VII

  • Sign a contract with two more major factions OR Tier V+ companies.
  • Make an additional five mass-produced products.
  • Complete seven miscellaneous threads.
  • Successfully complete a project of impressive proportions.
  • Obtain the permanent sponsorship of another major faction.
  • Obtain a contract from a Major Faction to aide in the construction a Flagship.
  • Begin to build your Capitalist Empire ( at least three of the following) ( Please someone think of some way to make it sound more clearly defined.)
    1. Make a Tier IV or higher company go bankrupt.
    2. Cause another company to be reduced in tier.

    4. Have a Major Faction seize assets of another company and reallocate them to your own company.
    5. Commit massive corporate espionage on another company.
    6. Have a opposing CEO/Company Owner assassinated.
    7. Cause an economic calamity within the Galaxy.

I think perhaps three out of those options along with previous requirements would be good medium.

Agreed, though I think Tier 5 and above should be our aim.

Hey sorry guys, worked the graveyard shift and am sick but I am up now and see this quick before class.

I do feel the need to point out no one can kill another person's character without their consent or it being truly unlikely they'd live during a fight, and it doesn't seem like there'd be PvP between CEOs going on for the latter. A CEO just doesn't have to accept an rp with bounty hunters or assassins if they don't want to risk dying.

I think assassinating CEOs should be dropped because killing another player character is both unfair and unlikely.

  • Complete a project of sizable proportions.
  • Obtain the sponsorship of a major faction.
  • Complete corporate espionage operations against competitors.
    Reduce a rival corporation's tier.
  • Destroy a rival corporation's facilities or locations.
  • Steal the blueprints or schematics of a rival corporation's products.
  • Assassinate the CEO of a rival corporation.

That's how I'd do it, anyway. I had a whole guide written on tier reduction and corporate warfare. You can read it here.

Yeah, but having to have them complete all of those is a bit much in every tier. Going from one req of corporate espionage item for tier 5, two at tier 6, and three at tier 7 seems more reasonable.

And allowing npc companies as rivials be used for your 2nd through 4th corporate espionage requirements.

Camellia Swift said:
I like allowing NPC companies, because that really does make it fairer when it comes to killing someone off.

Well yes, because it is an NPC.

You can't just kill off a PC. xD And this won't be a ten post deal.

It would have to be a development thread of significant quality.

Would you figure that this corporate espionage deal may have to be a set amount of posts?

60? ( like the shipyard one?)

Or should it just be a series of threads?
