Suddenly as the fight with the Vong raged on around the border world of Velga, or at least struggle against the Vong given the vulnerable state of GA citizen and military personnel trapped on the world caught off guard by the Vong raid, there came news of more ships detected heading towards the systems. That is if GA had any personnel to spare still watching hyperlanes for incoming ships and noticed the small group of vessels, what seemed to be a frigate and a corvette, using obscure long forgotten hyperlanes to enter the system.

If they didn't notice it for whichever reason, the ships would make their presence known as light flashed at the edge of the planet's gravity well and couple of ships phased into reality, exiting their hyperspace tunnel. They broadcasted friendly IFF transpoder codes of Abregado ships along with newer less known codes. What these codes were would soon become clear as they opened up a transmission to GA forces, using encrypted channels.

An image of a tall being in black organic looking armor would appear, wrapped in black cloak, his head would be uncovered however, revealing a pale light silvery faceplate forged out of Phrik with two red photoreceptors burning their way through transmission with their crimson light,

"GA forces,"

The being begun,

"This is the Iron Lord Protector Above Abregado And Denon on behalf of the Metal Lord Interests, we were in the region and heard you boys had some trouble with the Vong raiders. We know of few droids who would pass up on opportunity of hunting those machine-hating bastards and we will be no different, let us know when you will need reinforcements the most, we have a couple of transport corvettes, some dropships aboard our frigate, and a fighter escort in our hangars."

HK summarized, giving them a brief list of what they brought. Of course the GA sensors would be only able to pick up on one corvette brought in by the droids, that was because the other transport ship the machine spoke of was one of their new class of Eclipse stealth corvettes,

"I also have some droids with me itching to kick Vong ass on the ground or aboard their ships."

Of course it would be a little suspicious what the machines were doing in GA territory in the first place with armed corvettes and a frigate apparently carrying war droids aboard, although they would make movements between their new found territory just next to GA space and Abregado regularly, as the planet with large droid population on it had a cultural significance to some of the Metal Lords and their companions. Still they seemed to have notice the Vong raid and been able to make their way to the fringe of GA territory rather quickly.

But that was a matter they could have probably discussed after the battle was over!

"We have sent request for further reinforcements from any Metal Lords who could be wandering the Deep Space nearby, no promises whether any heard us or how soon they could arrive here however."

Metal Lord Reinforcements

" greetings [member="HK-36"] welcome to the Frey lets kick some Technophobes axles. " Lisa joked performing the same insane highly destructive turn.
but this was doing just as much damage to the fighter she was piloting.
still she had taken at least 10 coral skippers.
" I am going to dammage this Fighter [member="Decker Willo"] "

Jacen didn't argue. There was a fleeting moment where he laid his eyes upon her when she might have expected him to do so. Instead there was just a curt nod and he turned for the other edge of the camps. Jacen hadn't been on the front lines recently. The last few months he had spent more time teaching on Sullust and Coruscant. He had been fighting for almost his entire life. After a mission with Aela Talith that went entirely wrong he had come to the decision that it was time for him to start doing other things. In no way had he intended for Trextan to take up arms in his stead, but that seemed to be the direction things were heading in.

"You know well enough that if a Yuuzhan Vong Warrior sees a lightsaber they'll charge," he said quietly. "Just stick close yeah?" Jacen as pragmatic enough not to argue about her coming, but that didn't absolve him of the responsibility he'd put upon himself.

Jacen took several long strides and short hops to get down to ground level. In some respects it was good that the civilians were moving on foot. Tens of thousands of people could make en masse through these streets where landspeeder traffic would grind to a halt. Unfortunately everyone was going the opposite way to Jacen. Narrowing his eyes his drew on his connection to the Force. He didn't like doing this. Manipulating people's minds like this felt close to the dark side. The crowd started to part before him, gentle touches encourage the crowd to move out of their way.

"Marshal Voidstalker?"

"I'm here. On the move," Jacen replied into his comm. Overhead he saw several military troop shuttles heading towards the front line.

"The Yuuzhan Vong have pulled back slightly. It looks like they're amassing Thralls to send forwards. We suspect they're going to test the defensive line we've put together."

"Does that buy is time?"

"It'll show them how full of holes our hasty defence is and then they'll try and break us."

"Understood. Voidstalker out." He turned towards Kana. He tried not to think about how he would feel if he led her to grievous injury or worse. "Do you know how to recognise a Thrall Herder?"

"The enemy is jamming our communications with the frontline ground units" she told Decker, while realizing that they couldn't keep in touch with [member="Kaiden Rohn"] anymore. "I suspect they may not hold for long"

"The enemy has probably been jamming the communications from the frontline ground units, but not us" the chief engineer reports back in.

"Oh wait, there is a new set of contacts on sensors: one frigate and one corvette" the sensor technician tells her. "The Metal Lords"

"Hopefully they may be distracting the enemy coralskippers"

The timely arrival of [member="HK-36"] and, with him, the Metal Lords, on-scene forced the coralskippers to divert their attention to orbit, especially when [member="Lisa"] did some fancy, dangerous maneuvering with the effect of killing off an entire squadron of coralskippers. Meanwhile, Mynock 2 and Mynock 7, per [member="Decker Willo"]'s orders, escorted the first of those medvac transports as it became full, with the second transport soon making their way out. Perhaps too soon. And then all transports received their coordinates to the point where they will drop off refugees, that is, on Karfeddion. Probably in the orphanage she built on that planet in the wake of the ill-fated Mustafar campaign. The volume of fire directed at the convoy has markedly diminished, while most of the refugees were still being herded, with some order being restored to the thanks to [member="Jacen Voidstalker"]. And yet it was no use arguing with [member="Kana Truden"] about how to fight Yuuzhan Vong. Not when the first two medvac transports were about to soar into atmosphere.

"The first transport is away, and the second should be away in 30 seconds" the sensor technician reported again.

Decker Willo listened to [member="Cathul Thuku"] as she gave her explanation of the ground situation. And the coralskippers seemed to keep coming. Already two of Mynock had taken damage beyond their own deflectors, any of them could end up going down. The transports were still getting hit, and the ground was no doubt not any better. "I can send a fighter to get a look over the ground situation if needed. Just give the-"

His words were cut short, as off to his starboard Decker saw [member="HK-36"] and the other Metal Lord ships appeared. Reinforcements had arrived, and there was no better time like the present. Things had turned in their favor after all. And as if things couldn't get any better, the first transport began it's departure from the system. "Mynock 12! You and Mynock 4 escort the second transport, then get back to the battle once it's out. I will be escorting the third along with Mynock 9" Decker ordered to [member="Lisa"] and Mynock 4. By the time the third transport would be away, then the coralskippers would no doubt be thinned out enough for the need of one fighter instead of two. And with The Metal Lords about, things were a lot easier.

[member="Jacen Voidstalker"] [member="Kana Truden"] [member="Kaiden Rohn"]

" [member="Decker Willo"] permission to call in Farrium squadron. we need all gins on deck." she commed.
" well we need to attavk the main ship"

The prune faced Dressellian commando gazed upon his prey with his predatorial yellow hues. His back was pressed hard against the rock face behind him, his feet and legs aiding to keep the alien perched high upon the cliff edge, south of the camp in the steep mountainous valley. He had been scouting alone in this sector before the invasion party landed and so had fate handed him favoraible odds in this round of initiative. Radio comms were heavy with engagments to the west and fleet action above. East was quiet for now and was being used to evac the refugees. But in the south, wasn't a large Vong force tempting fate in the valley. The terrain itself was reason enough to place all chips on this being the optimal front to engage the camp. But, a small team could make it through while the GA forces were focused and dedicated elsewhere.

"Havoc Actual!!!" The wolfish tone of Romeer seeped into the unit coms as he hailed his squad commander, [member="Kaiden Rohn"]. " Havoc Actual! this is Havoc 5. Contact south, Ten klicks from camp!" He reported "Platoon strength with varied equipment. I will slow them down as much as i can..... Havoc 5 out!"

Was moments like these that the Dressellian lived for. Himself against the world. Wouldn't have it any other way. He looked back down towards the unsuspecting vong. Romeer was a expect in guerilla warfare but the whole aspect to the tactic was destroying the enemies will to fight. How does one defeat the iron will of vong, a species that do not fear death and actually welcome it with violent glee? The answer is, you don't. You just wipe them off the map. With that he thumbed the detonator he had in hand and a split second later and awesomely destructive explosion erupted in the mountain above the Vong. Rock and debris fell upon their mixed lines crushing and barring all in it's path.

Relentless the vong were, though most of their numbers were wrecked in the ambush, they rallied without hesitation and sallied forth with blood lust determination. Romeer respected their determination and feared it at the same time. You had to have a healthy fear of your enemy or one would find himself underestimating and ruined with mistakes. He climbed off the cliff and gathered his gear. Loading a round into his rifle. Time for hit and run tactics to further thin the lines.

He began to sweat, waiting for the thralls to come. The Vong began to scream, a unison deathly chorus of souls intent on nothing but murder. Kaiden grit his teeth and overcharged the blaster, standing out of his cover. The Vong did the same. They had less than a hundred meters between their cover and his position. He aimed towards a Vong warrior, mixed in with the thralls. The blaster shot went straight through his chest, sending the Vong flying back. [member="Roreem"] beamed in on comms, eagerly reporting in. "Havoc Actual copies all, good hunting."He took his hand away from the throat mic, thinking for a moment.

"Be ready to pull back to the line. Havoc-"

Kaiden cut himself off. The sound of a machine gun is jarring. The sound of two is surprisingly much more so. He recoiled a bit as they opened up, not expecting them so soon- and he saw why. The thralls were coming. He pulled the rifle to his cheek. Stockweld. Eye relief. Sight picture. A dead Vong. Another. Then, it dawned on him. He was going be overrun. They were going to be overrun. He couldn't count them. He turned his head, firing another volley that sent two thralls flailing to the ground. Thralls first. Then the actual warriors.

He twisted his head as a blast came near his face. His throat mic was incinerated on contact, and he could feel the burning sensation on his neck and the side of his face. He blinked, unable to process it. Unknown to Kaiden, he had just suffered third degree burns to his face. He twisted his body back, firing rapidly into the approaching horde of Thrall. No communication. Backup wasn't coming- as far as Kaiden was concerned. Kaiden pulled out his sidearm as his rifle ran out of charge and he ran out of ammo. He fired rapidly into the approaching horde, standing tall. If he was going to die, he was going to die on his feet.

The rest of his men shared the sentiment. Life for duty. Nothing but the fight now. Living or dying was secondary. These people deserved to live. These men would give everything to make sure it happened. There were about 200 of them. He couldn't count how many Vong.

[member="Cathul Thuku"]'s message fell of deaf ears. [member="Jacen Voidstalker"] was heading into a fight straight from hell. [member="HK-36"]'s message couldn't be picked up by the comm network Kaiden was using. Kaiden felt alone. But he wasn't scared. If he was going to die, he was going to die defending something. Standing for something. Something he hadn't felt in a long, long time.

" oh Gna this's gonna be fun. me remember the Vong from me old galaxy not the best people. " the huge Abominor admitted his strange vocal tick preventing him from addressing himself as anything other than "Me."
in his boxlike head sat a tiny humanoid being a Loli-li named Gna.
Middenface's caterpillar tracks rumbled as he turned looking at the wreckage.
" Me need another catchphrase. yelling DAMAGE is pretty dull. " he joked charging a line of Vong soldiers.
who were expecting a dull droid sadly Midden was a literal intelligence not an artificial one.
jumping from the top oh the canyon he handed on top of several soldiers.
" [member="Kaiden Rohn"] me sorry did you one to kill one? me can reverse and let you shoot one." he joked as he twirrled his snake like neck to look at the human.
" umm sup? me and [member="Gna Grimwasp"] are new. "

[member="Roreem"]

a steeam of acid passed Gna that was the great thing with being 12 inches tall. shw climbed down from midden who was unleashing a salvo only a mandalorian tank could in to the enemy.
" [member="Kaiden Rohn"] i am Gna combat tech this is Middenface McNulty and is it Lifeday? because i bring ammo. " ahe announced as Middeb turned on jus axis bringing his rear to the unit.
" Sorry for the tardiness we were freshly recruited. "

She remembered facing Reverance on the field, Kana was well aware of who and what a lightsaber brought out of hiding. Her head nodded at Jacen, he might not have noticed but she took him for a man smart enough to understand that she would agree with him no matter what. The crowds parted at their approach when one wouldn’t think it likely that they would. Kana wasn’t one to question it. If the technique worked, it worked and that was the end of it. Questionable ethics perhaps, but in the pursuit of a greater good what did that truly matter?

Eyes set for the skies again and the battles roaring up above. It brought back memories she had rather kept under wraps, but part of Kana had already accepted that every now and then she didn’t get what she wanted. Rarely did, in fact. There was a sense of acceptance of the fact on Kana’s mind that had been there for nearly as long as she had lived. She had made recent pushes for her own benefit to find a place to call her own, but as great as that felt it was a slow process at best. To accept that one was worthy of anything good wasn’t an overnight thing.

So she took the bad in strides, tried to make the most of it. Even now as the galaxy threw her a curveball she could find some solace in knowing that if she was to die she would die in the company of friends, or that once the day had been won she would return to even more friends and continue life on Sulon as a member of the Circle of Healers.

A simple existence, but one that suited her in the end.

“Tall, a billion hundred feet and has an aversion to blasters and lasers…” Kana shook her head. “Thrall herders aren’t necessarily what I fought in the Republic, but I certainly read up on them.”

“What about you, Jacen?” Kana perked her brow and tried to smile at him. Lighten the mood perhaps a little. “Are you ready to fight the big bad void?”

“Make it a story to tell Avalore when we get back?”

[member="Roreem"] [member="Kaiden Rohn"] [member="Kana Truden"] [member="Lisa"] [member="Decker Willo"] [member="Cathul Thuku"]

"Avalore probably doesn't want stories of monsters in the night around the children," he reflected with a chuckle. That sound felt as alien as the Yuuzhan Vong in the current situation. "I haven't actually been around the Homestead much recently. Felt a bit disconnected from events, but needed to keep an eye on Trextan."

Jacen had taken him to Kaeshana. There Trextan had lost his entire right arm and shoulder intervening in a duel between Jacen and one of the dark side users of the Ren. It was at that point that teaching had started taking up the majority of Jacen's time. Avalore had Stali back now. It was likely necessary with the twins and their own child on the way.

"If the herders get taken out the Thralls will make chaos, but at least they won't be moving forwards."

Jacen narrowed his eyes as they reached the edges of the camp. "Things are bad. We need to move quickly." His lightsaber snapped from his belt as he broke into a jog and entered the treeline. Jacen had been a soldier for a decade before returning to the Jedi Order. He knew that determined resignation he could sense through the Force. The soldiers had reached the point where they put the comms down and prepared to keep firing until they ran out of power packs or where completely overrun.

It was chaos in here. Blaster bolts zipping back and forth. he activated his blade just to avoid the Alliance soldiers taking him for a thrall. He could see them and just about sense them through the Force despite the coral. Near mindless drones with coral for armour and weapons. They clamoured forwards looking to crush the thin Alliance lines with sheer numbers.

"We press forwards until we find a Herder."

With the first two transports now away and using the Metal Lords' ships for cover to make the jump to hyperspace, the four fighters assigned to their respective escorts were going back to the atmosphere, where the other transports were being filled. At that speed, these guys were going to be immediately circling back to orbit, whereby [member="Lisa"] and [member="Decker Willo"] would be engaging the coralskippers going after the transports as they chase the transports and their escorts, from behind. And now the third and four transports were ready to take to orbit, taking some hits from stray coralskippers, and, from there, depart to orbit. With the arrival of [member="Roreem"], [member="Middenface McNulty"] and [member="Gna Grimwasp"] on scene, perhaps they may hold out a little longer, especially since Middenface was the only artillery unit on-scene. Meanwhile, the remaining three transports were still being filled using an endless stream of evacuees, with the flagship taking much longer because it was much larger, too. But she could no longer keep track of the Metal Lords, nor could she keep track of [member="Jacen Voidstalker"] or [member="Kana Truden"], in the confusion the whole battle and evacuation caused in the Force.

"Four transports are now away, the flagship is now 59% full"

"How long until the flagship is full?"

"I'd say the final three will depart all at once"

Blue blades. Withered frames gripped their rifles tight in reply. They were enhanced by the approach of the Jedi. The Jedi gave them hope. Resilience. Kaiden looked at the thin defensive lines. The Thralls were thinned out, leaving only one option. These men weren't going to do so hot against the warriors like this. The Jedi was charging forward. Kaiden hopped out of his cover, alone at first. He was at a sprinting pace. They weren't going to die in a fighting hole. They were going to die on their feet.

The first thrall he encountered he slammed with his shoulder. The coral-armor did little against the man's sheer physicality as he sent the Thrall flying. A curb-stomp to the face ended the Thrall's existence. Another Thrall's mortal coil was cut short by a volley from Kaiden's rifle.

Then, he heard it. The shuffling of gear. The screams of the men behind him as they came forward. They were following [member="Jacen Voidstalker"] and Kaiden to their deaths. [member="Kana Truden"] was somewhere, and could feel the pure rage emaninating from Kaiden's line. They more or less copied Kaiden. Thralls were nothing. Men fell as they were cut down. But they were pushing them back. Kaiden turned, holding his weapon with one hand. With the other, he rallied his men with a single cry.

"Kill them! Kill them All!"

The sound of a dozen angry men screaming is a thing to behold. It is another thing to say of dozens of them echoing the sentiment of violence. There was no breaking them now. They were going to die, and buy time for the people behind them. That's all they could do now. Kaiden stormed forward, with nothing but regret on his mind.

" Now that's an order Me can respect sir. " Midden responded hoisting his Particle cannon turret's and turned from [member="Kaiden Rohn"] to fact the Vong.
" lightsaber proof or not being hit with anti vehicle cannons make a point. " hmm he needed to get something to add to his mass those snakes fired acid and that was eating his shell. he would need to eat a few things to eat to replace that. still Gna was safe and while he was a thug the Abominor was one thing. a good person.
" Gna keep those civilians safe."

" Damit. no you organics. the window has not been cleared yet." it was true she counted 93 coralskippers " Ok Farium squadron advance. defend the evac. i want all of you drones to give it your all. " no that wasn't right. so far they were lucky.
they needed rear guns.
" Gun ships aid the fighters. offer cover fire. " she ordered still taking pot shots.
[member="Decker Willo"]

Decker directed his attention to [member="Lisa"] for his go ahead, he felt that soon everyone would be pulling out soon. "Mynock 12, pull up the rear with the evac transports! Stay on them! Take your half of Mynock with you! My half, we must continue holding those coralskippers back until those last three pull out." He opened a comms to [member="Cathul Thuku"], about to tell her what was going to happen when he took a hit that shook his starfighter. It wasn't too bad, but it slowed him down. No doubt a damaged stabilizer, minimal damage. This, he had not expected. "We need to pull out soon, we can only hold off these skippers for a little longer." Even with the added assistance of Farium that Lisa had called in, Mynock could only take so much. He briefly wondered if the ground forces would be able to reach the transports in time.

" [member="Decker Willo"] im sending the Swarm drones to give you cover fire let them act as wing men. " she said hoping.
So far it was a miracle that they hadn't lost any fighters. agenst the tentecle s

HK-36

The Iron Lord Protector (Neutral Good)
"Alright, everyone to positions get our small craft out to support Alliance fighters, scramble our dropships and land our forces, prepare the Knight of the Eclipse and the Greycloaks, keep our War Galley at our rear to protect us from enemy coral skippers."

The droid called out a string of orders which was quickly being carried out by his crew, a jumble of droids and organics working together, since machines, as good they were with their reflexes and hand-eye coordination, they weren't the best at instincts and gut-piloting.

"Yessir!"

Either way, HK turned away with a swish of his chameleon cloak to walk off and prepare for battle.

[member="Decker Willo"], [member="Lisa"], [member="Cathul Thuku"],

The GA fighters would not be left forgotten by their newly arrived Metal Lord allies as a sleek dark ship uncloaked in orbit above Mynock's position, quickly powering up their turbolaser and quad-laser turrets to open up fire and get a drop on the Vong fighters, the Eclipse-class corvette firing off salvos from its various guns into enemy positions as six smaller craft ejected out from its underbelly.

Its fighter complement lighted up with their thrusters and engaging and suddenly darted out into various directions as they extended out their s-foils and stabilizers mounted into large metal wings. The starfighter droids brought in by the Metal Lords revealed their grotesque strange visage, sculpted out of black duranium and durasteel to resemble giant winged lizards of Mandalorian Myths. They were called the Mechanical Dragons, elite heavy starfighters of the Guild of Hammers, used previously alongside Alliance forces on Hoth.

The Droid Dragons darted and tumbled into various directions as their tails coiled and wrapped following the paths of nearby Coralskipped, green crystals at their tip lighting up with arcane power as they launched emerald beams of pure energy that clashed against the Vong craft unlucky enough to find themselves in their way, slashing through their hull and melting path into them, exploding out in colorful long tongues of fire and blaze that just as quickly burned out and disappeared due to the lack of oxygen. Unless they were in atmosphere, then it would just keep burning.

Charging into the enemy positions some of the dragons would fire out volleys of hypervelocity guns from shattergun rotary cannons mounted on their shoulders. The large barrels spinning wildly to life before spewing their deadly strings of small caliber metal pellets fired fast enough to punch clean through multiple TIE fighters.

[member="Kaiden Rohn"], [member="Jacen Voidstalker"], [member="Kana Truden"], [member="Roreem"],

Sound of numerous incoming thrusters joined the chaos of the battle as the GA forces, or what remained of them, begun pushing up against the Vong Raiders. Few dropships broke the skies, headed by a matte black speckled stealth transport, sleek in design, along with a small escort of winged serpentine droid starfighters, Wyvern Drones. The convoy moved in the direction Jacen, Kaiden, and the rest of Havoc were occupying, however they did not showed signs of slowing even as the stealth transport reading the dropships and escort lowered its cargo boy doorway.

The coral skippers used by the Vong fell in on their convoy line, trying to interrupt the various transports only for them ships to begin rattle and swivel in evasive maneuvers as some of the Wyvern droness slithered through the sky and coiled back, heading off to intercept the enemy starfighters and engage them in a bit of dogfighting to protect their conoy.

When the Knight of the Eclipse passed overhead Jacen and Kaiden three beings seemed to jump out, quickly falling down towards them, their black armor glistening in the sun and cloaks flapping on the wind like wings of some sort of avian beast before their jet systems screamed to life, slowing down their descent. Finally the three droids would land, boom, falling into empty spaces among Jacen and other Havoc guys, the black organic armor and its chitinous plates on their cover would pull back, revealing they were indeed droids,

"Hey handsome, you come here often?"

HK nodded towards Jacen before motioning over towards the convoy he just abandoned to fight alongside them on the ground, now heading off somewhere in the distance,

"I have some dropships with war droids for reinforcements and for evacuation, if you have a secure landing zone in the area, otherwise I can get them on the ground if we get one secured."

The plates and membranous flesh layer of his armor would retreat back into its default position forming a mask over his face plate and the two Greycloaks he brought with him for company. The issue with his suit was that it was Vong-tech, shaped pretty much in the same methods the raiders who were now raiding GA territory used for their armor, so there may have been moments when they could mistaken the droid and his honor guards as one of them, thankfully HK and the Greycloaks wore cloaks, and carried lightsabers, magnetic revolvers, other high-tech gadgets most Vong wouldn't be caught dead with, which provided some distincation.

Another side effect was that any and all Vong or those who followed their doctrines, who just saw a droid land while wearing one of their sacred Vong-shaped armor suits would be launched into a bloodlust fury and go after him, which HK didn't had an issue with, as he considered himself immortal, and probably made an opening for his GA companions.

As one of the Vong soldiers, Thralls charged in to bash him with an overhead strike, managing to get close enough, the droid snapped into an Echani martial strike, using fanciful open palm strikes to first disarm the being, breaking his arm in the process with a strong precise chop, then launch him back with a good hit to the solar plexus, forcing him to fall into a couple more of his friends and knock them down as well from the impact of a fully grown organic being launched back into the air as all the air in his lungs was knocked out.

“Well ain’t that the truth.” Kana chuckled with a ‘tsk’ at Jacen’s remark. She hadn’t seen him there in a while, and she in turn hadn’t really been a lot either. As much as she liked the Katarn homestead it was still a place that she saw more as Avalore’s home than her own, and with the children and with Meeri there was simply no real need for her to actively be around anymore. At first it had been an easy way to keep Kana under observation while also providing her with a stability that she had needed for the first few moments when she had been brought back into the circle of her friends. And the kids, as much as Kana tried to love them with only moderate success, was in many regards the main reason she went out on whatever errands Avalore sent her on.

It wasn’t becoming of a forty-something Jedi Healer to envy the loving childhood they were given, yet here Kana were.

Her blade turned on alongside Jacen’s. Didn’t put much thought into the resignation around, but she felt it. Reminded her of the Republic in her last few days amongst them.

“Search, destroy and scatter.” Kana nodded with determination. “I think I can do that.”

The troops were approaching in the distance. A familiar visage from an age she’d hoped had passed. Perhaps it was just one more dance for a tired soldier. She hoped it was but knew better than that. From behind she could feel the way some of the soldiers shone up with renewed vigor.

Broke her heart to know most of them would most likely die.

Eyes scanned the horizon. Scanned the oncoming attack.

“There.” Kana pointed to a distinct silhouette amongst the Vong. “Looks like a herder to me.”

“How do we get to it? Isolate it from the others, or a frontal assault?”
