Twenty Nights in the Ice is a Long Time

"Those who fear to lose their power are made tyrants by war."
"All who make war are tyrants, Jedi. Even your heart I wonder for. Do you fight for us or for the agrocite? If you have come to secure the ore for your Republic, I will not judge."
―Kit Fisto and Adaroo
A land of frozen wastelands and blizzards, Khorm's entire surface is covered in ice and snow, in spite of the extremely cold temperatures and harsh winds, a walrus-like species, the Khormai, manage to thrive there. They were a fractured species, prone to independance of thought and action, only rarely forming a whole planetary government. But many of them had long been friends of the Mando'ade and while the collapse of the previous Mandalorian governments had left them without direct rulership, they remembered their friends."All who make war are tyrants, Jedi. Even your heart I wonder for. Do you fight for us or for the agrocite? If you have come to secure the ore for your Republic, I will not judge."
―Kit Fisto and Adaroo
Khorm has one truly valuable resource: an ore called Agrocite that, when converted to plasma, could greatly enhance the destructive power of turbolasers. The presence of this ore has lead to generations upon generations of mining into the letha ice, resulting in an there was a massive unnatural network of caves beneath the ice.
The Mandalorian Empire, fresh from it's capture of the Kyber Crystals on Utapau and it's... somewhat more mixed conquest on Dathomir was looking for new directions in which to expand when they received an unexpected message from the Khomari Warlord Ugar Iskaal, leader of the Iskaal Tribe and nominal planetary ruler. The message was simple: following the retreat of the Mandalorians, a group of Khomari raiders had gathered around an outcast Sith named Lord Gorrus, a Zabrak from Dathomir with designs on greater things than being in service to the Nightsisters. These raiders, armed with the Force, had risen to challenge the planetary government until a Khomari Jedi by the name of Verin had returned home to stop them. Verin was at first welcomed with open arms, but it soon became clear that the 'Jedi' was more interested in defeating the dark than freeing the planet.
The two factions grew as more and more Khomari flocked to either banner, desperate to see the end of the war that ravaged their world, even as it escalated step upon step, until now Khom teters on the edge of doomsday. Lord Gorrus has constructed a superweapon from agrocite and advanced technology he claims will be able to bombard anywhere on the planet and plans to scour the surface, while Master Verin has declared that the final battle must be taken to the dark.
The remaining Warlords and tribal rulers have gathered under Ugar Iskaal and are, if not presently loyal to Mandalore, well disposed towards it and currently exceptionally ill-diposed towards anyone who has anything to do with the Force. They were surprised for their emissaries not to be met by Ra the Undying, but upon hearing the situation on Mandalore have agreed to voluntarily join the Empire - and in many cases to join or rejoin the Mando'ade, if only the Mandalorian Empire will save them and their planet from destruction.
The Cuir Rekr did not even need to debate the matter for more than minutes - Mandalore could use willing allies like the Taung of Mykr, never mind willing allies who came with their own military, exo-armour and a warlike warrior tradition, along with the added benefit of Agrocite to enhance kyber-crystal powered turbolasers to arm the new Empire's fleet with.
The call has been sent to every Clan and every verd - a crusade has been called to Khorm to rescue the planet from destruction.
Objectives:
1) Prevent Khrom being destroyed by some insane superweapon.
2) Eliminate the threat posed by Lord Gorrus*
3) Eliminate the threat posed by Master Verin*
4) Win the hearts and minds of the Khomari by showing them the true strength of the Mandalorian Way.
*The capture or death of either individual is deemed acceptable. Lord Gorrus will be repatriated to the Sith Empire, in accordance with Treaty Law, to face punishment or reward there. Master Verin is to be offered the cure in preference to being killed, as he is Khomari. However both have been identified as Master-level Force users and accordingly the death of either target will be deemed an acceptable result.
The encampment of Master Verin occupies a high plateau of otherwise useless arctic wastelands, with immense walls of snow and portable heaters brought in so as to make the area habitable. Every effort has been made to construct the base far from the civilian population centers of the planet, but it sits upon a six way junction of the mag-rail network that serves the planetary economy, leeching life and wealth in the form of 'donations' to feed the war effort.
The area is extremely well fortified and protected by a portable planetary shield generator to prevent orbital bombardment, it will have to be approached on the ground.
The fortress of Lord Gorrus is constructed around the ancient weather control mechanisms destroyed during the Clone Wars, remote and far from any habitable terrain with access only by worm (and the rather suboptimal practice of travelling within their gullet) or by daredevil piloting against hostile wealther conditions. It's something of a ramshackle structure compared to most other forms of habitation on the planet, with much more effort being put into the immense turbolaser emplacement and as yet unlaunched orbital mirror array than providing the combination of slaves, warriors and warlords comfortable habitation - heat is the providence of the powerful who can take it from the weak.
While described as a fortress, it does not technically class as a major fortification - or it wouldn't, if it wasn't on the top of a hellishly remote mountain peak with no access roads.
