Tygara: Fireball Whiskey

Nima Tann

Master of Her Own Destiny
"A competition? Uhh... umm... It just adds to the pressure!" She let out an awkward laugh as she was not so well under pressure, well, if the pressure was outside the battlefield. She didn't know who Varosh was personally, but even the sound of his name told it was going to be difficult! "Well I think it's on, huh?" Shaking her head with a smile, then she returned the gaze to Charlyra. Also, she was glad that it wasn't rude that she didn't ask about the beef! Anyway, her plate was empty now, along with some of the household, so she got up to help Bo take the plates. One could say she liked to be useful. And then, one cheerful Elpsis appeared at the entrance. Nima saw the wink, and she let out an internal sigh but smiled and nodded to her. "Good morning!" She said, then added. "Kept your meal warm, in case you would be late." Elpsis probably understood what she meant! Then Elpsis would quickly get a plate ready for her.

Meanwhile Ice was happy to find someone who would play with him and excitedly played with Tegaea, his happiness could be seen from the never stopping tail!

Tegaea played happily with Ice. She rather liked animals…so long as they weren’t the bitey ones Galina was always bringing home.
“You’re a big strong boy, you take care of Nima, yes?” she said to ice and gave him a hug.

Tempest meanwhile came in and looked rather smug with herself as she got her breakfast and sat down.
“A good morning to all!” she said, putting some spice on her breakfast.

And so everyone had brekfast. Siobhan looked rather amused when Tempest showed up. The lovely Dahomian looked a little sore. As for Elpsis, she sat at the table and wolfed down food. She didn't have anything relevant to add, so this one shall skip her.

Finally, Siobhan was finished eating and got up from her chair. "Riona, sweetie, could you please come with me for a moment?" she asked softly, patting the adorable little one. "I'd like to talk to you, angel." This was totally reassuring and encouraging.

The young girl had finished her second glass of blue milk and didn't think anything of it when Si-Si asked her to follow. Getting down from her chair the toddler went out after her. For a moment or two, she wondered if she was in trouble, a bit of fear struck her but it was brief. She looked around her at the more than lavish home, such a stark difference from Tabaqui. Little did the girl know that her entire life was about to change and that everything from here on out would just be one remarkable journey. A little spark of the future..

Siobhan took the little girl's tiny hand into hers and led her to the living room. There she guided her to a couch and sat. "Sit on my lap, angel," she said softly. Once Riona had presumably settled down, the matriarch stroked her hair. That always helped Siobhan relax, which was why she did it often with her children. "You're not in trouble, sweetie. It's nothing bad."

She took a breath. "I guess you've been wondering about your future a bit, about where you're gonna go. We've spent the last week trying to find your next of kin. I got the test results yesterday. But as it turns out...you're already at home. It's the last thing I ever expected but...Rio, I'm your mother. You're part of my family, Baroness Riona Kerrigan-Alcori."

About half of that went over the toddler's head, and her brain stopped right at, 'home' and skipped to 'mother.' Rio just threw her arms around Siobhan and held her tight. She was quite excitable, didn't care that she was a Baroness or what have you, but that she had a home. Home, she snuggled into her mother's embrace. It had been fact that the girl wondered where she was going to go after she was taken from Tabaqui, and learning that she was already there. Perfect, just perfect in her mind. A home, a family, her heart swelled and she gave her mum a little kiss on the cheek.

Life would now hold a lot more choices for her, and she would have the love and support of her mothers with her. Open arms, to welcome her home, to tell her that she was safe and wanted. Some children never knew these things, and for Rio she would come to do more than just know them. Home, love, family were all hers now, nevermind that they were nobility and wealthy - her world was complete. Who knows where her life will lead her, but from here on out she would have all the love this galaxy could give her.

Elpsis watched Riona and Siobhan leave. She looked a bit puzzled, but then smiled slightly. "They're kinda sweet, ain't they?" she asked no one in particular. She glanced towards Tempest and elbowed her gently. "We're still not having babies. Don't get any funny ideas. Congrats, Tegs, on getting another kid. I can, uh, help with her and the babies." She wasn't sure how the redheaded matriarch felt about the new additions, but the vibes she got via her empathy did not convey unadulterated enthusiasm. The redhead could not blame her. After all, Tegaea had not asked for any of this.

So she looked for a subject change. "I'm, uh, real good at cooking, too. One of the very few useful things I learned at the Temple." Well, actually she'd been stuck in detention and assigned to the kitchen a lot because she'd been a very unruly kid. But it sort of counted. Has this writer already mentioned that Elpsis could not stand Jedi? Probably rather excessively.

Abruptly Riona threw her arms around her mother. Siobhan returned the embrace, holding the little one tightly. "There, there, little angel. You're home," she said sweetly, rubbing the girl's back. "Mummy's here and she loves you so much." For the time being, Siobhan was lost in the sweet moment.

It was true that Riona's very existence was unexpected. It was mind-boggling and something Siobhan could not understand. Her birth had not been something the Countess had asked for, but now that she was here she did not want to let her go. Of course, Siobhan had little idea just how challenging raising a toddler, who'd one day blossom into a young woman and seek to spread her wings outside of the safety of the nest, would be. But one thing was certain, namely that Riona would always be loved.

And so the truth came out.

Riona took it well, though of course it’d be many years before she properly understood the full consequences of what had happened and what it meant.

Tegaea herself was trying to understand it all herself still. She was the stepmother and that usually presented some bad stereotypes. She didn’t want to be the Livia to Sio’s Augustus. Especially not the alleged murder thing.

And so she stepped forward and petted Rio on the head. “You are our daughter, Rio, and we both love you very much. You’ll never be frightened, never be hungry, never be lost again. We’re here for you,” she said.

She even meant it. She was determined to make this work, not just for Sio, but for Riona as well. The child deserved parents and so she would get them.
