Using Pirates: Privateers and Letters of Marque

Did I say that? Can I amend it to say "If we're going to hire privateers we may as well make peace with the Mandalorians and also hire privateers?" One of them has a large and active faction, and the others would be in it for the money. Win-win, and more opportunities for more people to harness their dray horses to the Republic wagon. :)

I am very welcome to making peace with the Mandos. And would gladly offer to be an agent of reconciliation. Since I have eggs in both baskets, I have the most to gain and the least partial view. However Mandolorians are not too happy with me at the moment, saying that my actions at Roche made me bad or untrustworthy, despite the fact that I kinda never shot at either side...... *Shrugs* Is what it is.

I like the general idea :) In fact I tried to bring in the cartel pirates as Privateers once upon a time as [member="Sempra the Hutt"]

Not sure that was a good idea considering the brutality that type of pirates used. But if monitored and kept to "han-solo" style sorta crooks it could offer a new level of RP for the faction and make ic sense in a time when the GR sure need help.

Yes, I actually know that. Sorry for causing confusion about it.

What I meant was that if we can keep it within the boundraries of "good hearted" folk it can be a great platform for RP. Sorta using the chaotic good type of alignment. Han solo, robin hood... sort of characters.
They are bandits/criminals but still serve a good cause.

Because if we reach out to pirates and offer them letters of marque we create roleplaying opportunities between ourselves and other factions. We draw attention to ourselves and pique interest. It's not about saving money IC; money IC is whatever people say it is. It's about opportunities to tell interesting stories.

I support the use of privateers. But the real question is when are we going to blow up Alderaan? They are just begging for it "help me help me! Our existence defies canon! Please blow us up jack sparrow!" KABOOOM!! But anyways yes pirates and stuff
