"That explains the supremely loud bang then."
"I felt like a distraction to take attention away from the front doors where the droids were coming in to be useful. Plus I wasn't going to get the metal security door open on my own. So I blew it open." He said with a small shrug of one shoulder.
Dominik was feeling quite proud of himself, having walked up to the pretty woman and convinced her to hang on his arm for the evening. Then she shot down his earlier joke about beating drooling Mandos away. Right, no jokes like that. Got it. And he was feeling a little bit worse about his performance until she said that she only wanted his attention. Wow, wasn't that an ego boost. He stood a little straighter at that. He still had game. He looked at her and saw her eyes come up from giving him an up-down look, and the wink.
What a woman.
He took in what she was saying about her Nuisance Engines and Droids. Her running her hand down his arm made him want to shiver, imagining one of those things on him. He saw what they did to those gangsters. They were incredibly impressive. He was about to ask if one was taken away and studied, but she answered that question.
"That, is brilliant. No risk of an enemy getting their hands on one."
Then she started talking about explosives and blast marks. He was proud to admit that he had been taught quite well before handling an actual bomb, so no, none had gone off in his face. Then she cut herself off and shook with bottled-up laughter. He quirked an eyebrow as he thought. No accidental explosions, skilled in what he did... either that or... in a joking manner that would get her like this... With her demeanor and how into him she had seemed right off the bat, was she...? He blinked as he thought he understood what she was really meaning. Smiling, he was unsure how to talk like this since he wasn't back in grade school, but tried his best.
Once
Niki Priddy
would turn back, getting herself a little under control, he'd say,
"Nah, I make others detonate, not myself. I'll control when that happens." He gave her a wink back and a toothy smile, hoping she appreciated these jokes as much as she apparently liked making them. And if she meant something else, then his statement was still true.
Niki was proving to be funny, a genius, serious when she wanted to be, and all-around way more fun than he had originally thought when he had walked over with a glass of whatever this drink was. It had been a long while since he had been genuinely happy. Not worrying about who to shoot next, what cover to get behind, what number the explosive timer was on, just... happy to be with who he was with and what he was celebrating. With the short minute or two that he was with her, she had put him at ease and made him smile more than he had the past year. A warning system went off at the back of his brain, blaring that as he was distracted he was vulnerable, that he had to keep on guard.
He drank more of the beverage, and pushed that thought away.
"Want to go raid the food table?" He asked.
