Welcome to the family

Too late for Zandra. She'd been drinking all day long by the time Lorane came across her. She crossed her arms on the table and set her head down.

"Good boy," she slurred, yawning, "Rawn did a'right with you. Jus' make sure ya don't go vanishin' on her or nothin..."

She kept one eye open, watching him. Would he? Disappear? Nah. No way. He was nothing like Calico. Calico had been strong, but what this kid lacked in muscle, he more than made up for in brains. He'd be alright. He'd figure something out. He could be trusted. A good thing too. After Calico disappeared, Rawnie had sworn to kill the man if she ever saw him again. She couldn't imagine what she'd do to Lorane if he up and left.

Her youngest daughter could be pretty scary sometimes...

Lor chuckled as he saw Zandra more or less collapse into a similar position to his. It'd been a while since he drank that much. At least they could both still talk, though.
"On'y van'shin' that happens with us is when we're out of dessert."
Even his yawning felt slurred to him. The thought made him laugh some more.

The older Echani woman closed her eyes. Yeah. She had nothing to worry about. One kid down, one more to go. Who could she hook Corrin up with? She had to do something to get that boy off world for a bit. He couldn't just wander around the village looking sad and lost forever! He needed some adventure!
...For now, Zandra needed some Z's. The sound of faint snoring was all that could be heard from her. She was out like a light.

Again. For the second time in a month at this bar. The owner was used to it by now. Usually didn't bother to move her.

As Lor began to drop off to sleep, he suddenly remembered one last thing he'd forgotten to ask Zandra... Something about Corrin. What about him? How the hell would the drunk Chiss know that right now? Maybe he'd be better in the morning.
"G'night, cap'n gramma."
Yeah. That's what hangover mornings were for. Asking important questions that you couldn't remember while you were causing the hangover.
