Invasion Welcome to the Jungle! [OS - Republic Invasion of Kashyyyk]

Something came over her. It was different thing time, not that powerful urge to slaughter, to kill, it was something else. It was like a press deep on her stomach, a gut feeling, a twisting push. Her body moved without her asking it do, reacting before she could even do anything.

Surah blurred.

She shifted only a few inches to the right, dashing to the side enough so that the VENOM slug did not impact her torso but instead slid along her arm, cutting itself open and splashing acidic bile onto her robe and skin.

The slave howled in pain.

Her hand went to the acid on her arm, laying her palm across it. She fell to the floor, agony surging through her, crumpling onto her knees, face sagging down with hood concealing herself. She clutched at her arm, tears streaming down her face, a wave of something pushing against where she could feel her skin being eaten away.

Strong sobs surged through her body.

Anja struggled against the grip of the soldiers, but these cuffs were obviously preventing her use of magic somehow. When the scar came around he ducked her head as the cloth brushed her hair. What kind of game was this to her?, the Host Lord thought to herself. She knew even if she did attempt the escape, she would need a bigger distraction without the use of the force.

Hopefully [member="Darth Vidar"] would become more useful.

If not there was no telling what could happen.

With the last of those in front of her falling as she took down another republic soldier she smiled behind her mask as she kicked the poor human off her blade. One of the soldiers wounded fired a pistol striking her in the leg her armor stopped it from doing serious harm thankfully few knew she wore armor under her robes. Nothing heavy just to prevent random shots from blasting her apart. She growled and stabbed the soldier ending his life. But as she did from the bridge shots rang out striking some of the troops who came to join her almost. Noting the bridge she moved towards it ordering those with her to follow. So some of the Republic forces still had spine enough to try and fight? Good she thought she could cure them of this swiftly. Moving with her light sabers out she swiped aside blaster bolts as if they were flies in her way or nat’s getting too close. As she approached her movements continued to be elegant while still being deadly and precise.

NPCs
Location: Inside Kachiro City
Controller: Shuduc Macar
Forces: 20 Sith infantry in two squads of ten.
Objective: Take Bridges
Opponents: Republic, Jedi and Wookies

As they followed Macar on orders they fired back at the Republic troops moving to attack them now from the smaller bridge, they knew the large bridge was the objective but if the enemy could just pelt them from a smaller one it’d mean nothing to take it. As they moved forward a few got shot and hurt or killed as they tried to move with the Sith barely able to keep up with her speed and grace. The lucky ones were behind her directly where blaster bolts seemed pointless to fire at.

Corvus watched and listened as the Sith continued to bate her. Lies about Sera and half-truths designed to undermine her faith.
But Corvus was older than her years. She’d been a Jedi since the age of four and knew what was right and appropriate.

“Ever heard of Arca Jeth? No, probably not. Well I’m about to misquote him you see. He once said a place was powerful with the Dark-side…but his Light was stronger. Which sounds a little conceited for a Jedi, but I get where he was coming from.”

As she faced the Sith’s back, she raised her empty left hand, calling on the Force. “Have you ever been to Rhen Var? Very cold. Once frequented by a Jedi turned Sith who became a Jedi again. I met a slither of his ghost once - but that’s not important. Naomi Sunrider is, and she’s connected…but I’m rambling aren’t I?”

“Anyway, she once said that she rests in the Lightside of the Force, that it was her power. For it is powerful.” Tendrils of light coalesced around Corvus' hand and snaked to the Sith in an instant. Calling on Force Light, the Jedi surrounded the Sith with the Light side of the Force. The plan was straightforward - to weaken the Sith Knight’s connection to the Force.

“There is more than one way to defeat the Dark,” Corvus said as she advanced on the young Sith.

LOCATION: Northeastern Branch
OBJECTIVE: B, Destroy stronghold. Get the Jedi away from the slicers, lift anyone who wants off the planet before transitioning to A.

The entire branch quivered under her feet just as her sword ripped through fabric and a bit of skin, her opponent seeming to have heard his companion’s shouted warning that she was coming. There was a pause where they all seemed to stop, to look, to listen as the stronghold was devoured. She found her tether to Gabriel wherever he was on the field – Lord of Pain, Vong-King – and pressed a sense of triumph, pride, bloodlust particular to her towards him. No words as she’d learned that he loathed speaking through the Force, and emotions were easier to broadcast towards a presence she knew better than most. Wherever he was he was not without her admiration, an encouragement in mutual depravity she gave despite the fact he certainly didn't need it, the spider closing to devour him.

But in any case it seemed she’d been overzealous as ‘Xenia’s’ image flicked out to reveal Detox. Oh this she wouldn’t be allowed to live down. Narrowing her eyes she held up a hand, index finger up as if she say ‘sshhhh’. “Not a word Detox, not a word,” she said as she turned away from her Jedi opponent who seemed also to be moving to other things like most of his brethren, slipping Tianzun back in its sheath.

The swarm of movement, Vong tearing apart anything in their path in the frenzy of their violent victory, made it difficult to find who she was looking for but after a moment the real Xenia came in to view. Pressing a finger to her commlink she patched to the same ship they’d dropped from, calling for another small dropship. She wasn’t leaving the battle but whomever wanted to had their out as she sprinted towards Xenia, Cryax & his bodyguard, and the Jedi who’d engaged them.

Patching back over she contacted both slicers simultaneously as she sprinted towards their position, trying to maintain her visual between fighting Vong & Wookiees caught in the frenzy despite their loss. <<A dropship is coming – it’ll take you back up to the fleet if you want it.>> She continued right on past where the real Xenia was taking cover and boldly trying to fry the Jedi with blaster bolts, giving her a look much like she’d given Detox – ‘not a word’.

She was sure there was no escaping the laughs, but for the moment she had things to do.

She spotted a dark-haired woman (Keira Ticon) who seemed to be engaged with the Jedi that had rolled behind the crates for cover only moments before and moved to fall in tandem with her, giving her a nod before gathering the Force and throwing a force-push that seemed entirely disproportional to her petite size at the stacks of transport crates he’d taken cover behind. They were all large and full of war-machines so she targeted just one – the one that would send them all tumbling, hopefully forcing him out of hiding unless he wanted to be crushed.

He could feel them through the inky fog below. A horde of Sith on the beach. Thousands upon thousands advancing toward the Great Tree. Gray eyes caught the distant flash of engines from a Stealth X that suddenly dipped toward the Sith lines. He felt a familiar presence jump out of the Stealth X, even as it spiraled toward the ground. Talon Vosra had survived. Korr felt purpose emanating from the man as he headed toward a dark aura at the tree line.

Ryan Korr grit his teeth and followed the Jedi Master's lead. He launched his last remaining shadow bombs, guiding them through the Waves of Darkness to strike at the Sith on the beach - unwilling to risk one landing too near the Great Tree. Each bomb was individually capable of splitting a Vong corvette in half. Three of them simultaneously hit Vitium, Nephthys and Arcanix's Sith forces on the beach. They exploded into incandescent fireballs that roiled through fog and murk. Those that were not Vong cried out in death, their voices a shout in the Force that reached even him, aloft in the heavens. His heart shuddered, twisting into a knot.

There could be no flying as he neared the canopy. Not even for a Jedi ace. Korr hit the self-destruct and bailed out, springing far away with the power of the Force. The canopy blew of its hinges, flipping over and over. The Stealth X stalled, then dipped nose-down toward the ground, detonating where the beach ended and the tree-line began.

The air this high chilled Ryan's skin. The wind tore at his clothes as he fell. He stretched out his arms, stabilizing himself briefly. Then the canopy came up to greet him. A forest of thick, piercing branches. Korr gave himself over to the Force, twisting and spinning in the air, using bursts of the Force to avoid impact with the larger branches. The smaller ones could not be avoided. They scraped at his face, his robes, his hands, tearing flesh and fabric. After several heartbeat he landed, expelling the Force in a wave beneath him to lessen his fall.

Korr landed in a crouch, breath sawing in and out, heart hammering. Blood trickled from a litany of scratches. Earthen-toned pants and Jedi tunic were torn in places. He rose, tendrils of the suffocating darkness clinging to his form like sable streamers. Gray eyes burned with a sudden white light that burned away the Waves of Darkness like the dawn evaporated fog. A preeminent Force Sight, which pierced the Darkside's mirage, as if lifting back the black veil of mourning. He saw shimmering shapes, beings of power. One of them familiar.

"Corvus!" He called, voice the hard iron tones of a determined man in desperate times.

A hilt appeared in hand in the flash of an eye. The sky-blue blade flared to life. Shadows fled.

"Oh Sithspit," I muttered as the woman collapsed, body wracked with sobs.

Part of me thought, hey maybe those are crocodile tears. The rest of me was too absorbed in the fact that I'd just shot an apparently unarmed woman.

"Don't move!" I kept the rifle trained on her. "Are you allied with the One Sith?'

Surrah didn't move from her place on the floor. Though the scars on her knees were screaming at her and the acid on her arm was slowly biting into her flesh she didn't move.

When the man approached her, she simply sobbed and cried, the agony coursing through her body threatening to overwhelm her. Tears fell onto the wooden planks of Kachiro City. They were genuine tears from a girl who had simply endured too much, had everything taken from her and nothing given back. From a girl who did not even understand her own emotions.

She struggled with herself, her body shaking from pain and emotional duress.

“N-n-n...” Her voice was a heavy raspy stutter. “N-no.”

There was no hint of a lie in her tone, no telling of falsehoods or anything of the sort. She told the truth. She knew no one in the One Sith, she was not affiliated with them or had ever even talked to him. Hell, the only reason she knew what they were was because of the Wookiees and their tales.

"Damnit."

Good job Dak. Shot a friendly.

"I'm sorry. My friend can help heal ya. Bud?"

I stepped back from the woman and moved my rifle to train it on the surrounding area. I caught a flash of tawny fur in the leaves. Wookiee? I saw claws and huge teeth. Nope.

He had been watching the strange girl from the world beside. He was curious as to her placement in this turmoil. He was baffled as to why Dak was compelled to fill her with slugs at a glance.

Surah's relationship to the planet around was...complicated. Panicked. Worried. An illness facing termination from the bloodstream. An off-smelling chick about to be pecked to death by its mother.

Something had got its stink all over her, and now she was filthy with it. She was unnatural.

Color returned to Rain's eyes as Dak garnered the attention of his corporeal form. There was an initial misunderstanding of Dak's calling him "bud," believing the intended definition to be that of a developing flower. Rain's brow furrowed and he finally turned to absorb the dreadful light she was reflecting.

"She is not alone," was all he offered before redirecting his gaze toward the front lines, apparently not interested in becoming afflicted in whatever contamination she had brought.

Panic rose in her.

Friend? He had friends? Friends were bad, very bad. Nemene had had a friend, Evelynn. She had been worse than Nemene sometimes, her worst days had been the stuff of nightmares. Surah shook, and almost reflexively she backed away from Dak, shuffling slightly and scrapping her the skin off her knees and causing them to bleed.

Sobs still rolled through her like a tide.

Then he spoke.

His words washed over her, biting at her.

She is not alone”

Surah didn't know why but the words made her angry, they made her feel rage enough to mask the pain from her knees and arm. The something within her head grew stronger, it pushed at her, bit at her like a gnawing parasite until finally, it overwhelmed her. The sobs stopped, the falling tears and the loud snorting of snot. Her posture shifted slightly, her hands curling on her arms.

Her head lifted, revealing starkly bright Orange eyes.

She lashed out.

Like a wild animal that had been caged for too long Surah attacked. Her hand whipped forward and away from the acid on her arm, throwing out a wave of the force towards [member="Rain"], trying to throw him from his place on the bridge. Then she herself became a blur, sparks flying as her fingers turned into claws.

She slashed towards Dak's face, Sith lightning crackling.

Got no idea what defines a dementia or any other mental illness, but I know that when some chick looks up at you with glowing, orange eyes and a glare like a demon, she ain't on her rocker no more. The rope bridge swung as the lady went all psycho, flinging acid from her wound at Nature Boy, with her bare hands, then coming straight for me. Attacking N.B. (nature boy, ya'll, still dunno his real name), gave me enough time to take one step back and swing the barrel of my CZ-836 toward her.

But by that point she was basically on top of me, swinging with a clawed hand that had literal bolts of lightning crackling off it. I didn't stare too much. My finger squeezed the trigger reflexively.

Crack! Crack!

Two shots at point blank before a clawed hand smashed into my helmeted face. Stormtrooper armor ain't all the joke its cracked up to be, but I didn't have to worry about stereotypes. Mine was made from duraplast, the same sort that the commandos wore. It'd stop a lightsaber for a bit. Claws? No problem. Seemed a lot less of a guarantee when my head got smashed, lightning fried a bunch of important circuits and then I found myself smashing into the side of the tree. Thankfully not flinging over the other side of the rope bridge and off into the nothingness, but still.

"Ow."

Rain’s natural instinct was to ground himself against the earth, transferring the energy down into Kashyyyk itself and using it to support him as it had supported all of its children for…well…ever. Unfortunately, as his bare foot came down, he found he was only able to channel a very marginal amount of the energy projected…the girl’s Force control far exceeding his own. Rain’s dagger was knocked from his hand as he was cast backwards, splayed like a ragdoll upon the rope bridge.

He struggled to his feet in a hurry, dashing back across the bridge to rejoin the fight, clutching his spear in his right hand.

The pain in Cryax’s smoking leg, or what was left of it, throbbed madly. Silver linings, it had stopped sparking at least. Although his limb was artificial, the severing of it was still debilitating to him, and the injured Chiss was finding it hard to focus on well, anything but the thought of getting medical attention soon. There was too much pandemonium around him to figure out exactly what was going on, especially from his vantage point on the ground, but it seemed that the Stronghold had been breached, the Republic army had fallen back, and best of all, the Chiss’s Jedi assailant was outnumbered. With Keira closing in, and Xenia and Matsu nearby, Cryax thought it was safe to concentrate his efforts on getting up on his feet again.

The crime boss was loathe to ask for help, but since he couldn't stand up or walk by himself, he would have to swallow his pride. Hailing a Sith soldier nearby, he gestured to his stump and gave her a pleading look. One could never be sure with the Sith, but thankfully the woman helped him up. He heard a voice of his commlink, Matsu Xiangu informing the group that a drop ship was coming. “Fall back Keira!” he screamed to Keira Ticon. She was so focused on hunting down the Republic Jedi, she could easily miss the rally point if she wasn't too careful.

As the unknown Sith soldier helped him along, Bane caught a glimpse of Matsu blasting the crates that hid the blue-eyed Jedi assailant who had severed his leg. Those crates must have weighed a ton, but the tiny sorceress flipped them over as if she were merely flipping a table. He’d never seen anything like it. Go get ‘em, girl. One thing was for sure, whether or not that Jedi was killed today, the man would pay dearly for taking that leg, cybernetic or not. He reloaded his slugthrower again, and with the help of the Sith soldier holding him up, fired his weapon at the exposed Jedi who, much like a salamander under a log, had been revealed.

The venom splashed across her abdomen. The slug struck her robes, and seconds later the green bubbling liquid began to scar her skin. It ate her skin, biting into her flesh like hot lava. The searing burn spread across her abdomen eating the top layer of her skin almost immediately.

She cried out in pain, but her eyes remained fixed on Dak.

The stormtrooper who had tried to show her kindness, who had not shot her thrice. Her rage was oddly focused on him, and as Rain's blade came flying through the air Surah reached up and plucked it from its place in the sky with the force. The weapon smacked into her hand with a silent thud, the skin on her abdomen thinning and stretching as she did so, the acid biting deeper.

A hiss escaped her lips.

She became a blur again.

Surah moved in the blink of an eye, closing the distance between the reeling [member="Dak Canton"] and herself in a matter of seconds, brandishing the blade backward in her hand and sending a long winding slash towards his throat, free hand reaching out to knock aside his rifle.

The half-seconds he had before re-engaging had been enough to assess the situation.

Without hesitation, he sang, “uisge-adhair,” and slid along the gazebo-thing floor, the rain spirits he evoked minimizing friction’s influence upon the soles of his feet.

He thrust his spear forward at Surah’s free-hand, discouraging her reach for Dak’s gun. Hit, miss, deflection, whatever, he would begin to transition, withdrawing the spear to spin around and slash/sweep her legs from behind.

The knife glinted in her hand. I moved back, trying to tuck my chin, but she was wicked fast. A razor-edge cut through the leather of the body glove, biting into the flesh beneath. A cold sensation of pain spiked into my throat and I stumbled away, trying to shoot her the whole time.

I held down the trigger. Bullets scattered through the wooden gazebo, maybe hitting her, I don't know. Blood didn't jettison from the wound, so I guess no arteries or veins had been cut, but I could feel hot, sticky rivulets traveling down the skin of my neck.

She twisted.

Like a ballerina, she moved, fluid, graceful, but most of all deadly. Before the spear could slice through her hand she dashed away, her leg kicking up and throwing the spear to the side. The red splash of the blade sending a trail on the wooden bridge as she moved back.

Nearly bouncing, Surah retreated several meters back upon the bridge.

The Slave felt the heat of two more spots burning on her.

Her ribs and and thigh were covered in the same acid that was eating at her abdomen. She hissed, and plunged the blade into her own flesh. The acid was slow moving, only getting faster where the shots overlapped. With the skill of a surgeon she used the blood covered knife to cut away at her own skin, flaying away patches of herself with extreme agony.

It had to be done, before the Acid bit too deep.

Flesh piled at her feet, and blood dripped from her wounds, though with a pass over of her hand and a slight application of the force they congealed quickly, halting the flow and remaining only gruesome sights. The patch on her thigh kept eating away at her.

A low hiss escaped her teeth as she finished her butchers work. Agony poured through her. Hurt. Pain. Something that she had never felt before. It was a distant memory, the hurt, she recalled it, she recalled pain like this. It was nearly crippling. A deep shuddering breath left her, and Surah's eyes focused.

That was all the time they had to rest.

A few seconds later Surah once against shot forward, this time lightning sparking from her fingertips, threatening to consume both men, blood trailing behind her.

Forces: 65 soldiers, split into ten man squads. Five alongside Faye Terrik
Objective: Advance to the tree.

While her main forces had gotten the beehives attention, it was Faye who kicked it. The shuffle of feet moved as they scurried to neutralize her. That would be a more challenging task than they'd expect. In their surprised reactions, some had moved out of the cover that had protected them from the main assault. She heard two thumps as bodies hit the ground, one of them was still screaming. An injured and a dead one, most certainly. There were still a good ten to fifteen men above her, she estimated. Then she heard another spine-tingling warcry. She had pissed off a Wookiee.

Faye glanced briefly to see how her unit was advancing on the ropes, and they were nearly caught up to her. The slicer gripped onto one of the branches, as she saw the brutish furball drop below the platform, and clasped onto the wall with a solid claw, before taking a swipe at her. The slash of the Wookiee's claw knocked a chunk of her shoulder armor off, but was little more than a concussive hit to her. The Acolyte gripped her lightsaber and took a lunging motion, the best she could. It had just barely penetrated the beast's flesh, but a more vile, angry cry came from the creature's maw. It was quickly silenced by a swing this time, it was a rough, uneven swing, but it eliminated the threat.

Her squad of five men had been able to make it to the top, and had mounted themselves in a temporary fix with their ropes. They were lifted just enough to be able to see over and to fire their weapons at the enemy. She heard the blaster fire commence and that was her queue. She did not have time to catch her breath, but she instead disignited her saber and clipped it to her side, so that she could climb her way onto the other side of the platform. She peered over it, seeing part of the garrison focused on the troops advancing up the bridge, and the rest focused on the five climbers.

Faye hopped up and ignited her lightsaber, taking no time for dramatic gestures or well-spoken words. Taking them by surprise, she was able to eliminate a handful of them, before their attention was diverted to her. They were trapped, and with blasters ready, they were ill-equiped for Close-quarter combat. Two of the climbers faced an unfortunate end by the time the garrison was eliminated, but it did not deter her.

She looked up, seeing there were still three more levels. A large commotion was up there somewhere, another fight taking place. She took a moment to catch her breath, making sure that the squads were all ready. Some of the forces rearmed themselves with the weapons of the fallen, and with a quick headcount, she had lost thirteen in that last assault. She had 52 men to work with.

Villips, bulbous and plump, spasm their soft messages
"Come to the great tree
Bring death and destruction."
Growls, guttural and grotesque, relay signal
As Legion Yun'Do crowds Yorik-Trema
To send reinforcements to Kachirho
Blood wells from the mouths of the hungry
Seeking recompense for task completed too early
