Discussion What Factions Would You Like to See?

I like to start threads like these ever so often because I think they lead to some really interesting discussion and maybe even spark interesting ideas for future threads.

Which groups do you think would be fun to see or take part in?

Keep it nice. I don’t want this to be an argument. It’s just supposed to be a fun discussion

I've referenced an NPC called Jang Keek based on BTS's Jung Kook. I have been so tempted to turn it into a PC singer. It would be so fun.

We do have the Haxion Brood which is a crime syndicate but I agree I would love to see more underworld style things.

I think the issue is getting them all to work together. Scum doesn't like to trust other scum ya know!

I think a galactic law enforcement faction would be fun. They could travel the galaxy rounding up criminals , fighting over jurisdiction etc. We could have a long running prison thread going for all the criminals that get caught to write in. Maybe even have corrupt lawyers who try to get the criminals sentence reduced.

In addition to Haxion Brood, there's also the Hutt Cartel, Darkwire, and Code Zero. No shortage of crime factions, be it mob or hacktivist, but doesn't seem to be much interest there.

I love that idea. I really like the prison idea. Surely there is a big prison location somewhere where there could be some grand escape attempts, and/or using the court system? Maybe in there Force abilities and magic's are subdued, giving more of a level playing field and a more difficult chance of escape? I think there should be something along those lines, ha ha! And bounty hunters or some kind of police unit could be utilized to bring the criminals or assumed criminals over there. I believe it'd be pretty neat to write

Anti Force factions.

A new take on bad guys like how the Maw once was or the Brin.

Doubling down on the Brin with actual alien factions.

A mix of all of the above.

Thats not a In-Character issue though. The possibilities for those RP's are limitless. If the Sith can work together then criminals can too. The bigger issue is the lack of Out of Character communication on how to do this.

Also a Policing faction would be absolutely awesome. Id totally play a prisoner character haha

As someone who has all but one character as an NFU, we just don't think about Forcers that often to actually be bothered to make it our entire identity.

Now some terroristic attacks against Force users would be awesome. Blow up a Temple or five...I'd be down to do that without a faction.

I like a lot of the ideas mentioned. Especially crime factions are really cool to me because it's a huge theme in Star Wars. But I think the problem right now is the same as always — you really need someone to spearhead the idea and commit to running such a faction. Not just people who treat it as a side thing.

And it's not always easy to find people who want to run factions.

Chaos's map game has been dominated by FU wars between the Jedi and off brand Jedi vs Sith and off brand Sith from the get go. Every faction has some Force User group and the like.

Hit me with a faction that's tired of the FU control. Hit me with space Qunari treating Force Users like they're mages.

I am 100% on board but I think realistically everyone on Chaos thinks they are The Chosen One so I can't see something like this actually happening.

Someone should make an Amaran or Tiss'Shar Trade League (both are exceptional traders), it would be an awesome faction. I always wanted to work around those, but doing it solo proves difficult. I think this ^ makes a lot of sense too. Its hard to have the manpower to push if the leader just isn't extremely into it.

I'll keep you in mind if I can get one going. The trick fpr any story is having commited writers for it. More often than not people drop from stories like flies and it's really sad. Most especially if there is something really good going.

I agree with you there. That's why most of my characters are NFU's. I have barely written a force user as I'm not that skilled in their tricks or fighting. People say that there is no interest in NFU's, so they ignore them and don't think of them for stories. But I'm always interested! It would be neat if there was some planet or sector where those connected to the Force were somehow unable to enter.
