What would scare you more?

Even if the lightsaber part didn't work... I would want one just so I could, in the middle of a battle, press a button. And the sword i've been fighting with turns in to a bar of superheated plasma. Just to see the reaction of the other guy,,,,

Oh, it would definitely be interesting to see. I feel like a more serious combatant, especially a hardened Sith, would probably just be more confused than frightened by the sword that now happens to be the same weapon he has, only possibly more fragile due to the thinner energy. Still cool to see though :p

It seems to be a jack-of-all trades thing where it's trying so hard to be good at both that it won't be as good as either.

I love how this has turned from what kind of weapons he should use into a debate of swords and lightsabers. Very interesting!

This debate is pointless. Everyone is different, and everyone is going to treat each perspective weapon differently.

For instance, for me, it's longswords. I will absolutely kick someone's ass and their lightsaber while using my Sith sword. But that's because physical swords are what Aynea is used to, and her physical strength is so great, she wouldn't be able to swing a saber any faster than anyone else because a body can only go so fast, but can still swing a slender, weighted blade at just the same speed and force.

Everybody is different. Not everybody is going to be more effective or less effective with one weapon over another.

I don't think the debate is completely pointless, but you do have a major point in that it's about the person and how they use it. That's why initially I was saying he should just go with what he wants, since he can mold his character to be good with those weapons anyway like you! :)

In the end he seems more inclined towards metal-based weapons, so he should go with that. Let the debate die with a mutual respect for our fellow swordsmen and women no matter their choice in a killing tool! XD

Anyways, back to the original question; Sith weapon. It has a greater intimidation factor and more unpredictability.

I use Tarakata with Hakora Cinthra, but it isn't as effective in RP, because people see more able to dodge and find that weakness, but in a reall fight I feel that would be super deadly.

I love all this stuff and I personally want to thank all of you for giving me much to think about.

Yes. I does leave you open, however, if you can use it correctly, then you will never be open for attack. My alt trains with that form to a point where he has done it a good few number of times on Sith, and Dark Jedi. He is known for being very good with a saber, precognition, and telekinesis. That simple combo is very deadly in the right hands.

Once I have my character fully set up.....with deciding between sword of saber and factory being unpostable it has made things a bit difficult, I suggest we RP together and ether fight against one another or with each other.

Plus I can't find someone to fight in the mandalorian area, grrr. I picked one free guy, but he hasn't been on since the 29th

I was just thinking about talking to you to join the Moross Crusade where I can train you to use a sword. As well, our religion is much like the Greek, roman, and a little bit or Norse all mixed into one, just in a star wars background. So since we both want to RP, how about we PM each other?

A sith that is all muscle and 6'8" coming at you with a single lightsaber.

Or

Same sith, but coming at you with a real sith sword that is enchanted with Sith Magic to light on fire when you say a certain word (and only the holder can ignite it.) and a hammer like Thor's hammer, but adapted to Star Wars Universe.
Neither, but the first option definitely sounds more like Star Wars.

Either way, people will do what they want though - and so long as the person doing this has fun, it's all good.

A sword and lightsaber would be the same in terms of speed or only slight difference and the hammer is handheld so it wouldn't really be slow. Thor didn't have the force and he moved that hammer really fast.
A lightsaber is 1 kg on average, for standard size. A sword is 2-4. (That's about 2 pounds for the saber, 4 to 9 pounds for the sword)

The hammer is much heavier than both, and the way it was built was to focus the weight on one end and thus causes an issue with handling simultaneous to a sword.

Anyways, a lightsaber can be deactivated and then re-activated into the gut of someone, a sword can be parried or even cut apart by a saber. The hammer is completely negligible, as someone could merely push on it with the force when you go to pull it back to have it fly out of your hand, or at least make you stumble back or flinch.

Crystals can be increased through alchemy. It's possible, but nobody does it for some reason. As well as the hilt. Look as the Soulsaber. Looks like a standard saber just the hilt is ornate, but once you activate it, everybody within 10 meters is effected either by anger and rage, or power drained and having one massive headache.

So don't say that a saber can not be influenced by the force. That would be incorrect on so many levels.
Nobody does it because everyone assumes that lightsabers are too low-tech and are trying to competitively come up with some ridiculous scheme that presents some form of technology that makes them obsolete. (I mean, look at the amount of cortosis and phrik out there. It's pretty ridiculous, and I own a cortosis coat and mini-dress.)
