What would you like the first event of SWRP 2016 to be?

[member="Tefka"]

The Eternal Fleet returns and the emperor is a descendant of Valkorion, the galaxy must band together to stop the armies of Valkorion less they see everything wiped out.

Kind of like a huge conflict were Sith and Jedi are forced to fight side by side against an even greater threat. Idk if that has been done before though.

Rise of the Corporations

We find a Dyson Sphere and have the Corporations band together into 'Corp Factions' to fight for it. It's like a mini-map game for two months. Any company who participates goes up a Tier. The Corp Faction with the most territory at the end gains access to a Garden World in wild space that is immune to Invasion or Dominion. (Corp playground)

STAR WARS
Something Old and Something New
The galaxy is in turmoil. The REPUBLIC is on the brink of collapse and the SITH EMPEROR
rules the Core Worlds with an iron fist. Spies have received delicate information that the plans
for the ancient weapon known as the DEATH STAR have been found and are in the hands of agents
of the DARK SIDE. Knowing their very existence is in question the LIGHT SIDE forces align and
dispatch their heroes to assure the DEATH STAR plans are destroyed once and for all...
Or something like that...meh

What about something like the Spanish Civil War in space? There is a cluster somewhere in the galaxy, unknown region or wild space, with some resource or whatever that makes it important. The cluster suddenly finds itself in some trouble. The local Vahla population feeling repressed are rising up, the King of the cluster is weak and old and parliamentarian forces seeking more rights for the people are in open rebellion while another dark side cult faction is rising. None of the major factions can dedicate huge fleets to this region because its out of the way, but they all have a stake in what's happening and they all want the strategic ally so they send troops akin to the german condor legion and supply weapons and money and training to local faction forces. From here we take a month or two and we fight an all out campaign over a cluster with a mini map.

And it doesn't need to be all battles either. Maybe the Prince of the sector is trying to stabilize his little fiefdom and the sith send some assassins to end him and the Jedi need to stop it. So suddenly you have a small skirmish with a few people. Maybe there is some courtly intrigue going on where a neutral businessman can be convinced to give his assets to one faction or another?

You could track everything in a thread and judge skirmishes or results to give points and decide a winner at the end. That way its a bit gamey to add to the motivation to post. Because everyone likes to "win" competition seems to increase posting and activity, just look at invasions.

Also it could make for some interesting scenarios. In the Spanish Civil War the British and Nazi's supported the same side and even at times worked together. Then the Americans supported a different faction than the British and the Soviets another. So it could make for some interesting bed fellow as we define the factions.

We could also do most of this with limited staff involvement by crowd sourcing background information and giving the community a chance to help shape and form the event. Maybe through a competition, maybe just through an open submission phase.

Anyways it's an idea.

None...

Give yourselves a break and let the old event's resolution settle in and the members do their own thing before the next big event.
Planning/preparation usually takes months. Just off the cuff, I don't imagine another event happening until near the end of winter/beginning of spring at the earliest.

I like the extra-galactic threat forcing LIght and Dark to work together. Honestly, it's the one thing that is never really touched upon here, but that I always kinda like in my stories. Just how good are you, and can you put aside your ego and dogma to serve the greater good?

It would be fun for some of the most staunch and dyed in the wool characters to actually be forced to be more than a monochrome depicition, and force some substance and actual development into things. Not forced in a bad way or Admins saying 'choose' (as, of course, you can always sit it out) but those participating would be changed irrevocably I'd think. Not something you could ignore a few week after the event.

The Cult of Waru has been thought to be long-dead. Something out of legend, and mostly not even that. Perhaps a note in a Jedi or Sith archive somewhere, or a page in a long-forgotten tome in some historian's datapad. But they've merely been slumbering, waiting for their time to awaken. On a planet outside the influence of any Faction, they've waited, until now.

One by one, entire planets are disappearing. To where? No one knows. But they're about to find out.

Waru is back, only this time he's taking worlds from our dimension into his. Jedi and Sith, Mandalorians, Pirates, Corporations, everyone will need to band together to find out where the planets have gone and why, and most importantly, how to get them back.

We always try for some big, epic, dark story... and it just feels stale at times.

Lets do something silly.

The Gungan Army, lead by Darth JarJar have come through a rift in the universe and are invading Naboo.

For reasons.

Everyone gets to have fun beating up on Gungans and someone on Chaos gets to kill JarJar.

Let's step away from the light vs dark, Jedi vs Sith, shoehorn vs shoehorn stuff for now.

How about a group that wants to eliminate force users from the known galaxy and create their own guerrilla terrorist group, tired of the huge and constant war, and starts a conflict that way?

If that isn't good enough, a droid rebellion?

Or maybe an exogorth invasion.
