When We Meet (Kiara)

[member="Kiara"]

Romeo looked over at her as he picked up the pieces gently removing each piece from the floor. Her words culled at him like a mother softly scolding their child for doing the wrong thing. "I...I think I am searching for who I am. My name is Romeo Sin, but...I dont think that's who I am, not yet. Whoever I am, I am weak, mentally." Taking the glass he placed the glass in what he assumed was a garbage can, and looked at the hermit. "Can you show me to be strong?" Romeo took a few steps towards the hermit, his eyes falling back to a soft violet, to a icy blue. They shifted in color as his mood shifted as well. "Can you show me how to hold back the darkness within?"

"Hold it back?" Kiara watched as her smelter's bin got filled with the glass. Maybe she could melt it... Who knew. "No, but I can teach you how to use it. How to make you become powerful and force it to either fall by your side, or perish to the new you." She crossed her arms and let her eyes gaze the ground boredly. "But a lot of children have wondered to my hut and been offered the same thing. Not many of them can last the full training."

Romeo stood up straight, a new look of determination placed on his expression, accompanied by a glowing hue of hope gleaming from his eyes. Maybe this was why he was here, maybe this person was on the path to his destiny. With a stern footing, his voice showed how solid his rock was. "I can do it." His hands clinched to fists while adjusted weapon his hip. The old symbol of his days within the Jedi, lucky him, nothing stuck within the training they had shoved in his head. The boy knelt before her, bowing his head. "Please, show me how to make the darkness fall to my aid."

Kiara didn't say much at first. It had been a little while since she had a student, and even then they were complete brats. She flung her staff out from it's spot and pushed it softly against his shoulder, then lifted it with a single hand. "You don't own anything anymore. Go walk, return every piece of anything from your body, and come back with a piece of nature for decency."

The hand on his shoulder felt stronger than he expected of the woman. Her words rang true, and he obeyed. Nodding to her, Romeo stood up and turned to the door. Looking back at the hermit, he spoke one sentence. "I gave you my name, but I never got yours." He didn't give her time to answer, instead, he wanted to earn that answer, and was out the door. Jogging, he was already past the root that he called bed, and stopped a mile behind away from it. Removing all that he owned, he folded it on a trunk, and left it there, alerting a droid to come retrieve it for him. Holding his lightsaber in hand, he took a breath, and placed it with the clothes. Now he was as when born. Grabbing large leaves, and vines, he began to tie them into something to cover his lower half. It was not far fetched to say his body was kept in shape, but there was no covering the three scars he had already collected. The large trench that divided his chest was the worse, and the first, then the circle, and slash from his encounter on Dromund Kaas. He had thought those were the beginning of his journey, but he was wrong. Today was the beginning. Fastening the makeshift covering for his lower half on, Romeo dashed back to the hut.

Slowly, he opened the door.

An empty slate. That's what Kiara preferred, several times in her life. Unfortunately you could only get so many, depending on the situation. Kiara spent her last one hiding away and becoming old, learning at such a slower pace than she did. She never thought back when she was in gangs, fights, and learning to become a witch, a Jedi, a Sith, and some other thousand thing, that she'd end up living in a dirt hut tending to lost wonders.
Her eyes flickered back as the door opened before her. Oh, he had muscle. That was a start. If you didn't have that, you'd spend far too much energy. Kiara rose and walked forward quietly, staring at the man with wide unmoving eyes. "Are you ready to begin, No Face?"

Romeo stood straight as the hermit examined her new student. He took a breath at her words, finding the nickname No Face the perfect nickname. He had no face that was his, and thus he had no face. "I am." The droid was probably already picking up his belongings and taking them back to the ship. "I am as I was when I first came to this galaxy."

"Alright." Kiara said plainly, looking to the ground again. Just as it may have appeared she was finished talking, she began again, starting to walk outside. "What happens when something becomes old?" She asked, knocking her thick and heavy staff against young and aging trees as her feet sunk into mud, and the nature became more dangerous and mucky.

Romeo watched the woman, then she moved outside, where Romeo would follow after. Her question was an easy one, "They begin to breakdown. Things in the body stop functioning like they should. They begin the slow process we will all face. Death." Romeo's feet sunk into wet, sloshing mud each time he took a step as he followed the hermit. How was she able to move around so easily in this stuff?

"That's true. They become worn down," She paused to knock on a piece of fallen wood, then pick it up. It looked far more heavier than the poor hermit should be able to handle, but she took it with ease. "Sometimes it can help. As this log is drained of water, I can burn it easier. Such as, when a person becomes old, they can share their experiences and knowledge before they pass." She lodged the piece of wood on her back and continued. "What happens when you are freshly born into the world?"

It was, in a sense something of a trick question. Romeo's answer was right, but not the one the hermit probably sought. He scratched the back of his head as she took the piece of wood, wondering just how powerful the woman really was. Gently, subtly, he reached out to search her through the force, looking for her thread within the Weave. "We own nothing, we are nothing but infants...that know nothing. But, with a fresh empty mind, knowledge can be soaked, and stored so that the cycle of the passing of knowledge can continue." Romeo felt this was the right answer surely as he continued to search the Weave for the Hermit Thread, that was what he was calling it. The Lonely Thread.

"Given either just enough, plentiful amounts, or a moderate serving." Kiara stopped in front of a tree, and felt it once. It was warm, as expected out here, but it was strong. It probably had many years left. She gave it a pat, then continued on through the dense forest. "Consider yourself a sapling with a large trunk. Your bottom roots cannot be changed, but you may find yourself able to gain from it and stretch yourself over it. Now, go jump into the water to your left. You are not to come out until you've had too much to handle."

Each movement she made caught Romeo's attention, a small flashback, less violent this time, showed his older self people watching, observing every move. With those moves he gained knowledge about the person. Then he was back to present time. She wanted him to jump into the swampy waters? A shiver crawled around his body, his skin rising from the thought. Before he did so, he looked at the hermit. "This place isn't just your home is it? This forest is your friend Hermit.." Romeo dashed towards the water, hoping to build up some body heat and a fast heart beat before hopping into the nasty water.

Splash.

It was cold, and muggy. Things brushed against his skin he had no idea what they were. Moss, and other dead flora floated by as he tread the water. Fog seemed to cover up most of him in the water. Already he was beginning to shiver.

Kiara watched with soft eyes as her new student disappeared before her. She adjusted the piece of wood, then set it down and sat on it as she waited. Her mind finished off a few calculations, and readied itself to repair a few more droids, as another piece tried to keep the dark guard around the hut to keep those lesser minds away, keep them fearing. Her fingers entwined as she stared in the waters below.
Who knows how long he could last. She just hoped he knew when to quit.

Still treading water, Romeo continued to stay, the cold slowly digging to his bones. Shivers began to quake the waters around him that his body produced. The test, he wondered, was different. Why was he in this water? Why was he too see how long he could last in it? Maybe it had something to do with logic? If he stayed any longer he could get sick from the wet freeze. Again, something brushed his feet under the water, it felt smooth and slick. That was it, he had enough. Swimming back to shore, Romeo's arms lifted him out of the swamp as he shook his head of black hair of his face. "There's something in the water." He spoke with chattering teeth.

Kiara looked up at him quietly, nodding her head once. Of course there were. There wasn't really a time in the day where there couldn't be. "Then kill it." She responded to his statement. She used to fish by shocking the water all together, and letting the fallen rise up to meet her. It was easier, but not as enjoyable as tackling one with your bare hands and holding it above water before it could get a chance to breath.

Romeo looked at her with wide eyes and a titled head at her suggestion. "With my bare hands?" His head turned to look back at the water, then back at the hermit. "I'm...uh...I'm not sure that's the best idea." But instead of questioning her further he sighed, turned around and drugged himself back to the water. "What am I possibility...killing?"

Kiara shrugged to both his questions and rested back against the bark of a nearby tree. "Have you no other skills to allow you to kill a simple fish? Have you truly no way but to dive into it blindly?" She asked with a voice laced in toxin. "I could kill this entire pond of creatures with a toe."

He took a deep breath watching the waters as he listened to the hermit speak. Did he have the skills to kill a predatory animal with his bare hands? What skills could he use to kill a fish bare handed? Then he heard the painful knowledge of killing the pond with her toe. Romeo looked at the woman then when a disbelieving look. "You'r toe?" He asked, but it would have to go unanswered. The waters stirred around, and splashed as something surfaced. A narrow head with greenish brown scales appeared while a long, and very large body followed behind it. Romeo swallowed. "That's not a fish.." Romeo pointed out as the creature lifted up from the water. The head was attached to a long neck, with many two rows of sharp looking teeth. Narrowing eyes caught Romeo in their gaze, he was now it's prey.

It's head lunged down to take a bite out of Romeo, only to miss as quick reflexes allowed him to leap out of the way. Two muscular arms reached out to lift it out of the water, and onto the land. It looked like a mix of a dragon, and a water serpent to Romeo. It roared in anger as it had missed it's target, turning it's attention to where Romeo landed. "Just my hands? No weapons? Does the force count as a weapon?"

Kiara stayed silent, again. She would let him figure it out for himself. Though she was a teacher, she considered herself more like guidelines. Telling a person exactly what to do and how to do it would be like working for the military, with drones all doing the same thing. Well, those drones can't fight off a giant snake with just their immediate resources.
