• Canon: N/A

  • Links: Cularin

SETTING INFORMATION

  • City Name: Shahku iw Kraujas

  • Classification: Subterranean Ruin

  • Location: Cularin

  • Affiliation: [member="Jenmae Ophiro"] | [member="Seren"]

  • Population: Insignificant - Currently just the pair noted above

  • Demographics: N/A

  • Wealth: Poor - The city itself has no people to create an economy

  • Stability: Poor - With no one living within the city there is little to no stability. The structure itself has stood for an age, undisturbed - though with people making their way back to the ruin, it's likely that what has stood for innumerous lifetimes will not last much longer.

  • Freedom & Oppression: Freedom reins, for now. With no laws and no one to follow any that may be created, Shahku iw Kraujas is lawless and free.

  • Description: Shahku iw Kraujas appears like a looming Goliath from the darkness of the cavern it lays nestled within. Made almost entirely of stone and re-purposed wood that appear to have been crafted together in an age long past, Shahku iw Kraujas is not the most welcoming of sights.
POINTS OF INTEREST

  • Throne Room
What may have once been opulently painted walls, decorated with rich tapestries and warmed by glowing braziers is now a hollow and chilled chamber, filled with stone pillars to support the high stone ceiling. The corners of the room are filled with crumbled remains of portions of the walls that have collapsed over the ages, covered in a layer of dust that makes them all a matte grey. At one end of the chamber there are a massive set of heavy wooden double-doors, both stuck wide open; at the opposite end sits a raised dais, three massive stone thrones set upon it. Decorated in the same grey dust as everything else, they appear moderately ominous in the darkness that permeates the room.

  • Temple of Shahku
Aptly named the Temple of Blood, this location lives up to its name. Located deep within the bowels of the ruins, far below where any natural light could ever hope to reach, the temple itself lays cut from the very stone of the cavern itself. Rough hewn stairs lead down to a hexagonal shaped altar that's been etched into the stone floor. Simple stone shelves have been carved into the stalagmites that jut up like crumbling pillars around the altar itself, each shelf filled with bones that are crumbling with age - and much more modern candles, placed there recently during explorations of the ruin.

  • The Pit
It's unclear what this place may have been used for in years past, but the chamber that holds The Pit is one the few blessedly fresh smelling locations in the deeper parts of the ruin. The cause of this is the gentle breeze that blows up from the depths of the pit that lays in the centre of the massive space. Marked with crumbling, stone posts around the rim, The Pit is a dangerous spot to lose your footing. It's unclear where exactly the gaping, black hole in the floor of the chamber leads to, but it's safe to assume that it's not anywhere pleasant.

  • Oubliette
What may have once been holding cells for the cities less desirable denizens in it's heyday has now fallen into complete disarray. What may have once been neatly carved stone walls that lined long, wide corridors are now crumbling to rubble. There are, however, several of the halls that have withstood the test of time better than others. These halls hold small, windowless cells, barely large enough for a 6ft creature to lay down in. The decaying wooden doors have been replaced with thick, durasteel doors with manual locks on the exteriors - and any debris that cluttered the interior of these cells have been cleared.

SECURITY

None
The city has fallen to disuse and as such, no maintenance was done to keep their defenses strong or relevant in this modern time. Walls made of stone and wood, a moat with no functioning bridge to draw, parapets towering above walkways lost to dust and rubble.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Shahku iw Kraujas has been lost to time. Buried deep within the mountains near the equator of Cularin, the stone fortress may have once played a role in the defenses of an ancient people, their records of the place slipping like sand through an overturned hourglass. However, based on some of the major features of the city itself, it can be assumed that the people who most recently inhabited it were a rougher stock than most; temples soaked in eons worth of blood, ashen hued bones piled high around crumbling alters.

Whatever happened here may have been forgotten, but the evidence of an age of violence remains.

In more recent history the river that flows through the basin of the cavern that the ruins are located in have flooded, causing pathways into the depths of the mountain to open anew and allowing life to return to Shahku iw Kraujas.

Intent: To create a location to promote the plotting of future faction RP for the CIS.

Structure Name: The Orrery
Classification: Observatory / Orrery
Location: Remote mountain top - Cularin
Affiliation: The structure itself belongs to no one, but is was built as a gift to [member="Seren"] and [member="Willow Fae"] by [member="Jenmae Ophiro"]
Accessibility: [member="Jenmae"] has taken great pains to ensure that all their operations are located far from the prying eyes of the public. The Orrery is located far from any civilized place, and not easily accessible to anyone who may spot it from the ground below. The only entrances have been built into the foundation of the building, allowing access to the interior only from a series of tunnels that are built into the mountain itself.
Description: The Orrery is a simple structure from all appearances. The walls are built with stark white stone, mined from the inside of the mountain that it sits atop. The domed covers for the two observatories are made from a dull metal that does not reflect the brilliant glare of the sun even at midday. There are several external walk-ways that have been built into the sides of the main observatory to allow for vantage spots to gaze up at the sky without the dome shielding the view, should anyone choose to use them.

- Observatory: One of the two domes, the larger, has a roof that can be retracted, and contains a myriad of scientific equipment for the purpose of star-gazing. All manner of telescopes and measuring instruments are located here, and several large-scale computer systems for the purpose of collecting that data and housing it. These items are made for a more manual approach at looking upon the galaxy - and could be used as a welcome escape should someone wish to use them.

- The Orrery: Inside the second dome, much smaller than the first, is housed a digital orrery. Unlike the Observatory, this place is not open to the night air - and the only way to view the starts is through the projections that are created by a large simulator built into the floor at the centre of the circular room. The genre of star-gazing this room is designed for has more to do with magick that is does with science. [member="Jenmae Ophiro"] has created is for the purpose of scrying, aiming to assist her companions with their sinister goals, and keep a watchful eye on a systems surrounding them while she's at it.

- Subterranean Tunnels: When constructing The Orrery, several tunnels were bored into the mountain itself before the structures foundations were set. These tunnels are utilitarian at best, rugged and lit with naked bulbs of light strung from the centre of the tunnels apex from their egress into the building, down into the mountain proper.

There are three tunnels in total. One leads deep into the mountain, winding in slow circles through the core of the mass of stone, until it spills onto a well worn stone path leading deeper into the earth, and to the edge of Shahku iw Kraujas. The second tunnel keeps close to the surface of the mountain, winding down it's face just below the surface and spilling out into a grove of massive trees, their thick trunks and the dense follicle making the entrance difficult to find for those who don't already have an idea where it might be. The third tunnel is extremely steep, nearly a stone slide, that dumps any unlucky enough to select it into an underground river. The tunnels original construction had been meant to feed into Shahku iw Kraujas as well, but when the river blocked excavation, they abandoned the tunnel and made a new one instead.

Low - Due to the remote location as well as the lack of exterior entrances that are above ground, [member="Jenmae Ophiro"] saw no need for any additional security.

Upon the White Witch's rebirth, she quickly discovered that her paramour had not been able to establish quite the foot-hold that they had hoped for in his time returned from their shared future. Intending to assist him in his ventures with The Crucible, [member="Jenmae Ophiro"] set to work finding some skilled architects among the denizens of Cularin. Using her knowledge of the Force and her skills with entrapment of the mind, the witch took a sizable retinue of locals and brought them back to the remote part of the jungle they'd been calling home for the last year.

Putting them to work mining, crafting and building - in the space of a few short weeks The Orrery sat perched high atop the nameless mountain peak. Any who had been unlucky enough to be ensnared by the Dathomiri reject had been disposed of easily enough - offered up on the alter deep within the bowels of the mountain itself.

The witch now seeks to make a gift of the observatory to [member="Seren"] and the latest addition to his collection, in hopes that he will find a use for it while she busies herself in the orrery itself, turning her gaze to the distant stars and furthering their search for The Nine.
