Zandra Tal'verda
Lady Luck
She was Echani. That didn't just mean she was a certain race. It was an entire culture. She had a family name. The name Fenni meant something back home. Her family was a proud one, old, home to the Galaxy's greatest warriors. She had so much riding on her after her sisters death. Janira Fenni, the perfect twin. She'd been the families pride. The perfect warrior. Then she died. Nobody killed her. Nobody was good enough. It was her heart that had given out in the end. But it was a shameful death. Not the death the clan had expected.
Now they were looking to Zandra, to her legacy. She had never been able to beat her sister in one on one combat. Not once. But she had shown skill, even if it was a rough unpolished skill. She'd fought with such life, emotion. The art of the sword was her very existence. It was like seeing or hearing. Just another sense to her.
And now someone was telling her that she may never have that skill back again.
The Echani stared down at the black gloved hand, then to her burning cigara, then back to the hand. Without a word, she snuffed her cigara out on her mechanical palm.
A sizzle, and then the ember died, leaving a small burn in her glove. She looked back up at the doctor with clear eyes.
"Yer all I can afford, Doc. I ain't given up. You ain't given up neither."
