This was their chance. The Rogue Sith fleet line had broken, its elements scattering to haphazardly engage what enemies they could. With the path laid open, there was only one choice to be taken. If they failed, Castameer would be destroyed. Everyone could see the weapon turn inexorably towards the planet. If the weapon was not stopped here, the destruction of the planet would likely devastate what elements of the fleets were still in-system at the time. But just because the opportunity was given did not mean it could be taken without cost. The Noble-class cruisers were in danger of their shields collapsing without a respite, and the heavy firepower of the Spirit was lost.

Providence came in the form of a reckless Republic charge. More than a dozen corvettes and frigates pushed forward, firing on the Maladi-class that had turned to defiantly stand against the Alliance Star Defenders. As they rushed past on their attack run, their vector carried them straight into the line of fire from the Hyatt Station. The confusion would be enough.

Cycling power from the ion and defense cannons through their shield emitters, the Noble Cruisers worked to rapidly restore their shields, with emphasis on those facing the Rogue Sith force. At the same time as that power was diverted, the cruisers began a maneuver that almost resembled clubhauling of seafaring antiquity. Forward thrusters erupted, rapidly slowly the Noble's momentum. The hanger bays were explosively vented, acting as massive emergency thrusters. At the same time, half of the engines cut out while opposing tractor beams latched onto the battered remains of several Rogue Sith ships. Fractionally, each beam could have pulled its target in without a problem. But by attempting to grab so many at once, their combined mass was sufficient to act as an anchor, and the tractor beams as the line.

With a shuddering lurch, the cruisers abruptly swung around, their spinal line turning to aim squarely at the exposed engine block of the Colossus. Onboard one of the Noble Cruisers, her captain grinned behind a cigar. "Gotcha." Twin explosions erupted from the fronts of each Noble as the fired their heavy Javelin cannons. Each explosion heralded the staccato fire of three massive slugs. Viridian turbolaser and blue energy torpedo fire lanced through the void to join the giant rounds to slam into the Immortal flank. As their weapons fired, the tractor beams released. The was some damage as a few emitters were overloaded from the strain of the maneuver, but the aim had been accomplished. Forward thrusters still firing, the ships momentum to continued to build and the ships began to move aft-first towards Omega.

The smaller cruisers weren't going to have any part in waiting for the fight to end either. As the Republic corvettes and frigates fired on the Maladi, the Alliance cruisers took advantage and shadowed the maneuver. As they moved, their defense cannons made one last volley of fire at the nearby Rogue Sith fighters. Their own fighters hid on the far side of the cruisers as they made their final push towards Omega. Cannons volleyed and Javelins thundered as they took aim at the exposed engine of the Maladi, looking to destroy the frigate as they passed. They flew with exposed shields double-reinforced while their angle of attack carried them through the fire line of the Hyatt station as well. Each took a portion of the fire to save their larger cousins the full brunt.

As his escape pod was pulled aboard the Leviathan, Ayden was slumped in the seat. His body pushed beyond straining through the force of redirecting such a massive object. Yet he wasn't in any true danger; his body appeared to be in a sort of hibernation trance, an old Jedi trick to reduce stress on their body and save themselves in very dire straits. This time though, it was a trance that was not entirely directed by the need to rest and recover. Rather, there was a small item that he carried in his jacket pocket. It was a cube, its edges adorned in silver with a pulsing lavender light coming from somewhere within. Anyone sensitive to the Force who held it would have instantly felt a warm, soul-soothing sensation; it was the sort of aura that had lingered around a Corellian Jedi hundreds of years ago. Legends had been born about the woman, and time and inheritance had carried this arifact into Ayden's possession. It was something that he never parted with without good reason.

Ayden's mind found itself on a world far away from the Rogue Sith and impending threat of Omega. There was a serenity here that he had not felt in ages, a true feeling of peace and safety that felt utterly out-of-reach from anywhere in the galaxy. Above him, Ayden watched as silver clouds were carried on gentle currents, their forms wafting and dancing with the winds. Soft chirps and cries filtered through the enormous trees that surrounded him, yet he did not feel trapped. Instead it felt more akin to being embraced by a feeling of pure sanctuary. He began to walk along a path, flowers and vines adorning the sides with color and splendor. He did not know where he was, he couldn't, but he felt as if he were going in the right direction.

A spreading sense of warm emerged from his chest, a guiding force that only encouraged his steps forward. As he came to the gentle cresting of a hill, Ayden saw himself on the rim of a grove more stunning than anything he had seen in the galaxy. The feeling of pure serenity came from this place in waves, clearly its source. Almost without thought, Ayden was drawn off the hilltop and down into the grove below. Passing through the trees, he found evidence of life among them. Animals of all sorts watched him with fearless curiosity. They knew no danger; what had they to fear of him? Further in, he began to suspect that someone else was there. Faintly he heard what sounded like a woman speaking, though the words were indistinct.

Coming into a clearing, Ayden saw a figure currently kneeling and tending to a small plant. Her quiet words didn't quite reach him, but Ayden couldn't help but immediately feel some sense of familiarity wash over him. He was certain that he'd never actually met this person given that he'd never seen this planet before in his life. The figure finally noticed his presence and stood to turn. Immediately Ayden was struck by how tiny she was. Yet there was a silent strength that somehow made her seem larger than she was. She looked at him and tilted her head with a serene grin that belied the amusement within. "You should pay attention to what's going on around you. We can talk later." There was a lightness there, a close familiarity to her tone that immediate struck Ayden. It almost felt like gentle chastisement.

It was then, as his mind felt as it was being split open by a barrage of images, that a faint moment of recognition set it. The world melted away in waves of colors and Ayden suddenly became very conscious of the cold durasteel beneath him. People were talking around him, but none paid attention to the now nominally lucid Corellian. Weakly, he smiled as the information finally came forward, his mind finally connecting threads together over lifetimes of learning and teaching. A tiny, yet indomitable woman with a penchant for saving lives and spreading peace; he had seen her face before, from within the same lavender holocron that rested on the table beside him. "[member="Bethany Kismet"]."

And then Ayden flatlined.

Bridge, Unyielding-class Command Cruiser Rebel's Hope
Unknown Region, Site Designation OMEGA

"The Sith battle line is breaking! We're routing them!"

The overzealous young sensor officer's breach in protocol was punctuated by a flurry of applause and cheers from the Rebel's Hope bridge crew, a celebration which Commander Stazi uncharacteristically allowed, sparing only a quick penetrating glare at the sheepish ensign in admonishment. To tell the truth, if he were that type of duros Mazik would feel like cheering himself right about now. It had been years since they had pulled his half-dead skeleton frame out of that solitary hole on Nar Shaddaa, captured and incarcerated and forgotten, and Alliance command still hadn't trusted him with his own command. The experience would have been enough to break any other man, to torture them into losing touch with reality, but here he was. Commander Mazik Stazi of the Galactic Alliance, as steely eyed as ever. His only regret was that kind old Admiral Teros had been less cautious, allowing them to do some real damage instead of providing supporting fire for the rest of the coalition's battle line.

"Message from the Light of Ashla, Commander!" a communications officer called him over, and as he read the orders his usual scowl curled into a predatory grin. It looked as if the old Draethos could read minds after all, for Mazik's prayers were answered.

"Full impulse, take us in for a pass right on the left flank of the Colossus!" the Commander ordered, interpreting the Admiral's words as he saw them, "Let's cut their throat."

At the carrier's stern, powerful engines roared to life at full power, and the Rebel's Hope moved straight at the Rogue Sith battle line on the rear of the main Alliance advance, the Pride of Bestine and Rancor Claw maneuvering into formation on either side. The two Horn escorts and the command cruiser waited until they were as close as they could get to the Immortal before angling off to unleash the full firepower of their complete arsenal. Stazi could not see them out the viewport, but he knew that the 5th Expeditionary's Star Defenders and Assault Cruisers would be moving into position just behind them as well, and it wasn't long before the unleashed turbolaser and HVG barrage from their battlegroup's heavy hitters announced that they had moved into firing formation. Where minutes before the loss of the Druckenwell had plummeted their morale, somehow the allied forces had achieved near victory in the face of total oblivion, and when the order was given the 5th Expeditionary's remaining attack craft burst forth from their motherships with renewed furor.

"Tell our fighters to ignore the Colossus," Stazi said, drawing a few looks from his bridge crew. But looking over the sensors, the Captain could see the first of the Alliance ships taking advantage of the hole the Republic had punched in the Rogue Sith's line protecting the superweapon, and he anticipated the Admiral's orders, "All remaining squadrons are to proceed to make attack runs on the Sith superlaser."

"Rogue Squadron! All squadrons! Break break break! Proceed to Omega designation coordinates, you are weapons free on the installation!"

Collin jackwheeled at hard eighty to avoid a friendly green that had found itself in his way following the chase of the bandit on [member="Nils Brenner"] 's six. These actions required a number of incredibly quick decisions made at such a speed that the person making them didn't feel they were decisions at all. The course of action and reaction following the swift exchanges of violence between the two opposing groups was more like how a powerful enough wind could blow over a tree. Thus far Collin hadn't been particularly impressed with the response of his enemy, they'd taken some hits to be sure but the Squadron was holding well.

He supposed it was true what they'd said about the Hundredth.

The black around them was ablaze with folk from various other collectives Navies engaged in a similar conflict. Living and dying on milliseconds of reaction.

Collin pinwheeled out of the fray momentarily before rolling and turning a one eighty to catch sight of another target, the objective of the entire fray up until this point, what the Sith Pilots had died defending. The man got into formation with a quick burst from his TIE/SF and filed in alongside the Flight Leader as the group began to speed headlong towards the soon to be burning ship in their vision.

He thumbed his firing selector and waited on Nil's command.

The First Order was being decimated, there was discomfort that settled in the pit of Horus' stomach. Wasted lives. The Mandalorians and Galactic Alliance were too busy scrambling to take down the Omega, the Commonwealth too small to deal a hefty blow to such a herculean fleet. They would be easily swept aside by the epic firepower of the Sith. So Horus made a call that he knew would go against the wishes of his political allies, but was aligned with what was right.

"Pass the news," Horus announced, not a second later the Vindicator cracked down the hull and erupted. "Priority: Alpha. We're abandoning the Mandalorians - This is a Search and Rescue operation now." His gaze steeled itself for the outburst to follow from the Mandalorian chain-of-command, but humanity called and he intended to answer.

"Full-thrust for the First Orders fleet, contact Winslow, I want Battlegroup Uluru to provide covering fire. Distract any detachments of Rogue Sith that try to wipe out the stragglers." The crew murmured among each other, although the First Order posed a threat to the national security of the Commonwealth, they couldn't stand idly by while escape pods were picked by circling vultures.

"Hail the First Order, let them know Lord Admiral Horus is coming to their aid. They don't have to worry about their boys - they need to keep their gunsights on the Sith in front of them, we'll worry about their wounded." Slow at first, the Commownealth Battlegroup Alexandria began to pick up steam, blazing a path across open space as they abandoned the safety of the Mandalorian fleet in favor of their humanitarian mission.

Fire Control Deck of the No Land Beyond

"Missile batteries hold and wait for the Admiral's-", Allison commanded before she was suddenly cut off by one of the gunners.

"Ma'am, we're losing our missile lock on the frigates. We seem to be moving away from battle!"

Allison's face turned from confusion to anger as she turned to the holomap in the gunnery control room. It was true, Battlegroup Alexandria was turning away from the Mandalorian formation attacking the defense fleet and heading towards the wreckage and escape pods of derelict ships left from the First Order thrust into the main line of battle. Why? Why had the Lord Admiral decided to go about this humanitarian mission when they should be pushing the enemy as hard as they could and destroying the weapon? It made no sense to her! Even worse, they were saving the lives of those blasted First Order ships. The First Order was only known to her by the documents and breifings given to her by the Alexandrian Intelligence Office and even then their notes were scarce. All she did know for certain is that they were formed by a Warlock named Snoke and his apprentice ages ago. That alone was reason to distrust them.

It left a bitter taste in her mouth. She wanted so greatly to blast the escape pods out of the black and get the Admiral back on the mission that they originally were sent to do ending the One Sith. However, despite her growing temper, she also knew that such an action would likely find her in front of a naval firing squad after a pitiful kangaroo court style hearing. She didn't want to do it. Anything supporting those disgusting warlocks was something she objected to.

"But it doesn't do me any good if I'm dead." , she thought as she gritted her teeth and resigned to doing her duty to the Navy. Now is not the time for rash actions she repeated to herself in an attempt to calm down. She would be submitting a strongly worded report to the Security Council and the Alexandrian Military Internal Review Board about her disapproval of the Lord Admiral's actions. "Echo.", Allison finally said in a low defeated voice.

"Yes Ma'am.", The orange hologram man responded.

"Fan out the flack guns and launchers to cover in a firing arc from 0 degrees to 90 on the starboard and 270 on the port with Ventral guns. Create a curtain of fire that cover the escape pods of the First Order", she almost spat pronouncing the name, "as we move to retrieve them. Shred any Sith fighters with flack guns that move against the escape pods.

Summary:
10:28 - 10:24

Begin overwatch with flack turrets and long range missile batteries for any One Sith fighters approaching. If in range they are fired upon immediately.

skin, bone, and arrogance
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkRyn0JNTco

Pierce had a few moments to get acquainted with his injuries before the G-forces and trauma overwhelmed him and he blacked out. He was very clearly suffering some sort of bumparoo to the noggin, because his right eye was filled with blood, to the point where he could barely see. And he had felt his leg snap with the force of the ejection seat which was causing him the majority of his pain. And at the rate he was breathing -- hyperventilating, more like -- his oxygen was burning at a higher rate than was normal.

Meanwhile the battle was raging in front of him -- not out the viewport, but just beyond his helmet. It was terrifying and beautiful, both beyond words, and he felt like he could reach a hand out, touch it, absorb the battle through his fingertips. His hand flew up to block out the light of a reactor going nova, and he blinked rapidly, trying to clear his vision. However, Pierce didn't have much time to enjoy the spectacle. His vision went soon went dark as he lost consciousness, left to the mercy of his seat's stabilizing thrusters.

He awoke some time later thanks to a huge jolt of pain; his eyes flew open and he was staring at a distorted, discolored ceiling. He tried to sit up, but something was holding him in place -- around his shoulders and chest, but not crash webbing. A distorted voice urged him to remain calm, but that just made Pierce panic all the more. A moment later, his helmet was pulled off his head, his suit depressurizing, and the sounds became clearer -- a woman was speaking to others around him.

"Get that oxygen mask on him. Hand me a scalpel. We're gonna have to cut him out of this suit. Get ready for a splint. Oh Force, it's a compound fracture, this day just got a little uglier. Lucky that bone didn't tear through the suit. All right. Let's get the poor bastard something for the pain. Captain Fortan! You're aboard a First Order medical shuttle! We're taking you to a a Rapid Response medical ship. I'm going to administer something for the pain. Try to keep still... and take deep breaths. On three -- one...."

Pierce felt a tiny prick on the back of his hand and before the woman got to "two", Pierce was out like a light.

Support Element 101 had ceased to exist, each ship, accelerating well beyond the safety limits of their inertial limiters, became like a ???, with fragments of hull and debris tearing off, accompanied by violent departure of escape pods and shuttles. The Agony led the charge, firing as it passed, before a volley of shots finally crippled the ship and sent it spiraling off into the void, the hulk alight with secondary explosions. The Anguish altered its course at the last minute, punching through the gap in the Centurion's shields and rammed it amidships.

From the Contempt's CIC, the musings of Commander Avuz were proven correct as Cyrus watched the display and marked it only for the sinking of another enemy ship. He listened to the reports flowing in about the Boneshatter and Corsair squadrons with similar dispassion, and only as the Dark Prince died did he feel something like contentment.

The Rogue Sith forces alternately broke and ran or steeled themselves for the end. They would not sell their lives cheaply though, and Cyrus' forces in particular, extended well beyond the protective envelop of the First Order battle line, would find themselves paying the piper.

EcRon 32 was caught by surprise as the attack craft of the command station swept in. With victory all but assured, the commanders and crew of those ships had no particular interest in suicidal acts of glory, and the four remaining ships turned and rocketed back towards friendly lines. But the bombers and Razer's were relentless in pursuit. The Wrack, already crippled, was the first to die as volleys of missiles tore apart the main thrusters and blew open the stern. Ruin was destroyed next, a volley of turbolaser fire from the Imperator slowing it just enough until it was caught by the attack craft swarm. The last two made it out, seeking shelter behind the cover of friendly Star Destroyers.

The corvettes of the pursuit squadron fared even worse. Outnumbered and outgunned, all four perished in the furious melee.

Hundreds of thousands dead, and while for some the cost was worth it, that when called to account they could claim, perhaps with cause, that what they did was right. For Cyrus Tregessar the number of corpses at his feet was just a meaningless statistic, proof that against the juggernaut he had created he was now victorious, and all the suffering of the innocent and the despair of the young as they bleed for the ceaseless ambition of the old was just so much meaningless noise, lost forever in the soundless void.

The Contempt shook as fire from the Avatar and Krayt rocked the vessel. Cyrus was silent as Vayyrel directed the ships to turns its guns onto the already weakened Krayt, and as she barked commands to shift shield power and prepare repair parties.

Suddenly exhausted, he turned and wordlessly left CIC. For a while he wandered about the mostly empty passageways of the ship, seeing only the ever-present cleaning droids and a few scattered spacers, who's calls of 'Attention of Deck' he pointedly ignored, as was his right. Towards the after center of the ship, where the large Admirals' suite was, the ship was particularly empty, all the officers and crew at battle stations and fighting for their lives. A bad jolt told him that some enemy shot had penetrated the shields, and the particularly klaxon that sounded and voices over the general announcing system he was partially able to figure out what the damage was.

But mostly he simply felt defeated, in a way he could not comprehend. Unwilling to ponder this, he found what alcohol he could and let the battle play its course without him.

The Grand Admiral stood triumphantly at the observation deck. Oh he basked in his glory, for a short time. He decided to take rest in one of the console technicians chairs as he contemplated what had happened. He, his fleet, and his colleague Grand Admiral Tregessar, had destroyed the enemy flagship, obliterating their command structure, ensuring the defeat of the Rogue Sith. Any man or woman who had achieved such a goal would feel prideful. But sadly that did not last. Kerkov sunk into the chair, deep in thought. But before they could come to any conclusion, he was interrupted by the sight of something, fast. Without a doubt it was a concussion missile, heading straight for them.

Kerkov wasn't alone in the sighting, the area around him blew up in commotion, several sailors began to figure out a way to stop it, but alas the depression degree of the nearest quad guns. Next they began to search for any nearby fighters to intercept, but alas they were to far away to be of any use. Some began to ran, they would not make it, the blast doors were mighty to long a distance to run, and the missile was going to hit them in a matter of seconds. Some began to pray to whatever deities or entities they believed him, and some just stood blankly and what would be their demise.

The Grand Admiral sat in his chair, as his life flash before his eyes. From his lowly upbringing as a mechanic's son and the poverty filled life he had growing up, going to the Naval academy on Bakura, returning to serve in the Terminusian Planetary Defense Force. The relationship turned marriage with his beloved Siata, the birth of his three children. Slowly, but surly rising up the ranks to captain before retiring to lead a mercenary group. Many years of misadventures as a supposed Fleet Admiral, with barely a squadron to lead. And finally his ascension to the appraised position of Grand Admiral for the First Order, only to have served five years to the moment.

The flag officer was about to die in a way not expected by one of his stature. A Grand Admiral killed by a stray rocket, how anti-climatically tragic. It saved him the pain of death by age and poor health. But it was not the blazing glory he had once hoped to go down with. Of course, it was befitting the man behind the uniform. Throughout his years he had never been the protege, the top of his class, the one who shone above others. He served, he fought, and now, he would die. An un-exemplary death for an un-exemplary man.

Kerkov wished to see the beauty of his Twi'lek bride one more time, to fix the broken bonds between him and his oldest son, to find his only daughter lost throughout the galaxy, to redeem himself for his second son's death. What a life he had wasted on himself. He had accomplished little for one expected of so much. Kerkov was not fighting for a government he had spent his life to protect, but an isolationist government drenched in fascism. He had spent his life on the pursuit of money, and now he would truly pay for such misdeed. The Grand Admiral would end up on the wrong side of history, despite his actions at the battle that would now cost him his life. All for a little cash, his father would look down on him, and so did Kerkov.

He had time to lay his final cigara upon dry lips. As the large metal projectile grew in the transpirasteel viewport in front of him, he gripped his lighter and attempted to light the cigara. Alas that would never happen. Throughout all of this, the battle, his career, his life as a whole, what could he show for it? A company? A uniform? The fine selection of smoking devices he so loved to use. Kerkov went out the way he had been throughout all his life, stern and calm. And all his mind could think of, at that last moment, was this, It's a wonderful life.

Cockpit of a TIE/sf space superiority starfighter

The sensation of diminished passage of time was not an uncommonly reported side affect of intense, adrenaline-pumping activities. It was a sensation that Roderik was familiar with - a dogfight that felt like went on for minutes would turn out to have transpired in the span of thirty seconds - landing a damaged and only partially responsive TIE Fighter on manual controls, the final approach always felt like an eternity.

The starfighter commander, and now pilot again, could not tell just how long he had spent now as he circled again the location around [member="Pierce Fortan III"]'s distress beacon. He had shot down a total of three of the Rogue Sith's starfighters - none of which had registered their opponent swooping in for the kill until it was too late. The first he had spotted visually, making out the metallic skin of the starfighter glinting against the star lined backdrop of space, while conducting a low-intensity horizontal banking turn. Roderik had merely lined up his firing solution and increased throttle to close the distance in the matter of seconds. One burst of laser fire later and his TIE fighter maneuvered past flaming wreckage with an unnaturally precise measure of agility, thanks to the continued efforts of [member="Avicus DuSang"] - who finally had the opportunity to watch Roderik's mind dance among the stars in actual combat, using his intellect and cunning, as well as his reflexes, to hunt his starfighter prey. His mind raced with excited thoughts that were much different than those of his head hovering above a holo-display table. The additional stakes added for more drive and ambition to fly and fight as a seasoned ace and veteran of many spacecapades.

The remainder of his kills had been a pair - wingman and ill-prepared leader. The two had been attempting to intercept a passing medical cutter, en route to collect more of the TIE pilot ejected and wounded. Roderik had temporarily left his circling over-watch of Pierce's apparent location, in order to dispatch the two with a combination of mag-pulse warheads from long range, one launched to detonate at each bogey - and precise laser fire, shorter bursts this time without the need to concern himself with dropping their shields -- the mag-pulse warheads having done the trick at disabling them first.

"Angel, this is Mission Control. Medical ship reports Alpha Leader has been picked up. Condition unknown." For a brief second Roderik wondered if the ship he had just defended had been the same one that now housed [member="Pierce Fortan III"] in whatever unknowable condition for the moment. He shook away the extraneous thought and responded on the direct comm-line to Concordia.

"Mission Control, this is Angel, confirmed, Alpha Leader is secure." His displays marked the distress beacon - in fact, the BB-10 droid that Pierce had been quite attached to - still activated and floating out where he had last detected it on his sensors.

The TIE/sf rolled inverted while arcing into a dive - or climb, depending on ones' perspective and point of view about such things, swinging wide to come up on his previous location - and droid. Slowing down on the throttle, Roderik eased the fighter into close proximity until he was at a momentary dead stop just a few meters from the droid.

Setting the navigational computer's mode to partner-mode, making it compatible with the floating BB-10 outside, Roderik waited for it to pair up with his system and initiate the autopilot sequence which would dock the fighter with the droid via a small maintenance hatch on the ball-cockpit undercarriage. Once completed, he passed limited flight control and all astro-navigational controls to the droid, which he promptly disabled.

He was merely collecting the unit to return to his friend later - living or dead, preferably living - and had no use for it personally.

Roderik eased his throttle control forward until it was fully engaged, sending his craft screaming forward towards another series of enemy contact blips on his sensor report. More fighters in the way of his forces and victory, the First Order ace thought to himself.

"All Wings, this is acting Alpha Leader. Form on me," He reached forward to input a set of coordinates to transmit to the rest of the fighter forces. A trajectory bringing them into an enemy fighter force, and then swinging them away to assist in providing point defense for a transiting segment of the First Order's nebula fleet.

Along the route Roderik's conscience began to grow, to eat away at him in the back of his mind. His thoughts thus far had been so myopic, so focused on painting his one little piece of a much larger picture - that he forgot what the picture was at all.

The Omega weapon. The clarity rushed like electricity through Roderik so intensely that it nearly caused him to involuntarily jerk on the control yoke. The weapon was an affront to many things, not least of which was an affront to any sense of the cosmic balance. The weapon was simply too monstrous, too powerful to possibly exist in any hands - even their own. It had to be destroyed, or the galaxy would never truly know future stability - and any sense of balance.

Roderik cycled through the displays listing the remnants of his forces. Only three of Concordia's squadrons remained - Alpha squadron, which he had assumed direct command of in the absence of Pierce. Bravo squadron, flown under the command of [member="Nils Brenner"], had suffered some withering over the battles, but still constituted a good portion of their squadron - as did Charlie squadron, flying under the watchful eye of [member="Greta Kohler"].

Their three squadrons were the ones he was most familiar, he knew their dedication and training first hand - each pilot operating in these three squadrons was a man Roderik had personally vetted and approved of. Each man was one Roderik had sought to nurture, to grow as a professional and as a person. Each a man who would be mourned if gone.

"Concordia group." He said with a pause, and not bothering to keep with radio discipline. They all knew his voice, they knew the severity of the moment - though they all flew alone in their own cockpits, they all shared an intimate view of the battle, and a sense of the scale and wonder of it all.

"Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, break, trajectory 3.90.14. All others keep with the objective."

He broke his TIE Fighter off with a flourish series of rolls, taking up the same heading while keeping the throttle to the firewall. He flew in long, ponderous curves so as not to strain himself - yet - with high-G maneuvering at such high speeds. But his course was certain - he was taking his sum of 31 starfighters into a last ditch attempt to find and exploit some structural weakness in the super-weapon.

"Angel, this is Mission Control. Roderik! What the hell do you think you're doing?" He heard Marston's voice with a tone indicating something new. Fear. Uncertainty.

After a moment - in which he pushed a few buttons and switched the comm-frequency to include the three squadrons along with himself and mission control, Roderik responded.

"Continuing the mission. We came here to do one task, and we will see it through. If anybody has reservations with my leadership they can return to formation with Thrawn or 'Rax groups, no harm done." He spoke mostly to his pilots, than to the Major. He did not expect any to break from his three squadrons, but he felt he needed to give them the out regardless.

"This Omega-whatever needs to be put down, and we need to find a way to do it. We're going to have to get close for our scanners to pick up anything remotely like a weakness." He settled into his ejection seat as his craft zoomed ever-closer to annihilation, continuing to relay new orders, "I want an ammunition count on concussion missiles. Any fighters we see from here on out, use lasers. Keep ordnance for Omega." Concussion missiles where a proton torpedo would be best? You fight the super-weapons with the sticks and stones you have, not the ones you want.

Combat Summary:

All squadrons move from Hex 5.16 to Hex 3.14 to engage enemy fighters before all squadrons move to hex 1.13 and begin point defense with Dagger-class escort frigates from [member="Natasi Fortan"]'s fleet. [Victory Condition points hooray!]

Concordia's Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie TIE Fighter squadrons push forward for the Omega weapon for a last-ditch attack. [31 Starfighters total, suicide trench run hooray!]

Event Account
Round 9

Standing like an immense titan in the maelstrom of war, the Colossus continued to fire, never giving up, never surrendering. Even with its shields gone it fought. Even with its fighter screen scattered and its armour rent it fought on. Alone against an entire fleet it fought until at last it died. It was hard to say what finally ended the monster, but whatever it was caused it to flare apart into bright fragments. Admiral Brotus Stark, there until the end, perished on the bridge as bombers strafed the command tower.

In the centre of the battlefield the surviving Rogue Sith ships were being surrounded and picked apart one by one. It was clear that the battle was lost, and that further resistance was futile and needless.
In the centre, Captain Sygar of the Tyrant sent out a broadband transmission to the First Order fleet to seek terms for surrender of her command, what was left of it There were not even enough ships in the former Flagship command to dignify it with the term. Finally the guns started to fall silent.

On the right the Mandalorians had pushed in hard, and the few survivors either fled or started to surrender ship by ship.

On board Hyaat Station, Admiral Alina Sar'theron, now the most senior surviving officer sent messages to the Galactic Alliance, First Order, Mandalorians and Silver Jedi to ask for terms of surrender. Not all ships were so eager to do so though, and the prototype ship the Imperator slipped away and jumped to hyperspace in the confusion.

Now, at last, the battle was over. It had been a cataclysm, a struggle which had assembled the largest fleets in eight hundred years and smashed them to pieces under the malevolent gaze of the Omega.
Of the fleets assembled perhaps only a handful of occasions had seen their equal. Endor, Coruscant in the Clone Wars, the final battle of the Vong War.
The Rogue Sith had assembled 24 star destroyers and battlecruisers, whilst the combined factions had gathered 29 plus dozens of heavy cruisers and hundreds of escorts and thousands of attack craft. The battle had seen the largest ships on either side perish along with 20 other of the destroyers and battlecruisers. Fully half the Rogue Sith fleet had been destroyed outright along with 2 Grand Admirals, 4 lesser Admirals, 27 Captains, an uncounted number of junior officers and the monumental toll of over 700,000 dead in just the Rogue Sith fleet.

Never had there been such a slaughter.

space_debris_by_sketchshido-d82ttek.jpg

And yet one last drama had yet to play out. The Omega had turned away to strike its last vengeance on Castameer. Whilst battles raged through the station to prevent the cataclysm, brave and tireless crew steeled themselves for a final struggle.

The Omega was vast, nearly 20km in size, a long rectangle studded with hangers, weapon emplacements and equipment. With the Third Reactor destroyed the most obvious target had been removed. However, information from those who had boarded the Omega pointed to three critical locations which could be reached from outside.

  • A series of thruster and engine controls stud the Omega facing you. Destroying or disabling those would allow you to prevent it turning or moving.
  • Flying along the equator will allow you to get close to the Omega weapon itself and there fire on the focusing beams. Disable them and it will be unable to properly unleash its full power.
  • Damage to the Omega Station has exposed some power conduit and routing systems along the southern side. Damage to this could kill the power to the station…and start a chain reaction which destroys it. Of course, this might also endanger those on board the station but the stakes are high….

Ships larger than attack craft moving in to assist do run the risk of being targeted and hit by return fire.

Combat Summary For Each Writer:
@Valessia Bentioch your fire on the Imperator stripped its shields away and inflicted damage. The Constrainer though was destroyed by accurate fire from the escorts and cruiser. Your fire on the want was heavy enough to cause some significant damage.
You exited the battle with 1 x Inflictor, 3 x Empire, 3 x Dagger for a total of 3140m. When multiplied this comes to 6280m.

[member="Reshmar"] even in such a hopeless situation the Colossus was a very tough nut to crack. Most of your ships outright did not hurt it. In all you did some harm to it.
Your attack craft did rather better however. The heavy flak from the Immortal suppressed 8 of your squadrons, 4 fighter and 4 bomber, but the surviving 3 of each and LCs did some serious damage to the Colossus. Not enough to destroy it though.

[member="Charzon Loulan"] your fire from the Mateus again failed to do damage. Likewise your corvettes were too underpowered to damage the Iridonia. Your fire on the Escalade failed to destroy it but did damage it quite severely. Likewise the Iridonia was almost destroyed by the Hammerheads, but not quite.
You exited the battle with 5 x Praetorian, 4 x Udarnik & 6 x Hammerhead for a total of 4790m. When multiplied this comes to 9580m.

[member="Carlyle Rausgeber"] I had to relocate your ships moving to 02.15 because it was already taken to 02.13. Your ships moving to 07.16 I relocated to 08.14 as it too was taken.
Your fire destroyed the weakened Escalade. You inflicted severe damage on the Agony, but did not destroy it. Your fire on the Corellia was sufficient though to destroy it.

[member="Natasi Fortan"] I had to relocate your ships going to 09.16 to 10.16 as that hex was taken.
Your fire on the Avatar stripped it of its shields and inflicted heavy damage on it. Your fire on the Tython likewise inflicted heavy damage.
You exited with 8 x Dagger Class for a total of 1920m. When multiplied this comes to a total of 3840m.

[member="Verz Horak"] I had to move your ships going to 02.22 to 01.22 because the hex was overstuffed already by your flagship.
Your fire on the Leviathan stripped away its shields and inflicted severe damage on it, but not enough to destroy it.
Your fire on the Ruination stripped away some shields.
Your fire on the Razers was savage but scattered as it was it did not destroy any of them.
You were more successful with the Warmonger, tearing it to pieces at point blank range.
The Deify was badly hurt, but not destroyed.
Your fire on the escorts stripped a lot of shields but inflicted no kills.
The attack craft destroyed 5 fighter and 1 bomber squadrons before the rest scattered and fled.

[member="Aerion Ivelisse"] I had to relocate your ships moving to 08.10 to 08.11 and 02.13 to 03.13 as the original hexes were already taken.
Your fire destroyed the unfortunate Celeres 1 with excessive prejudice. I switched fire for the second group to the Celeres 2 and it too was hit and destroyed.

[member="Tanomas Graf"] your fire destroyed the Spear pretty much instantly. The Lance was also shattered by concentrated fire and destroyed.
Your ships moving to 01.16 could not go there because the station was there, so I rerouted them to 01.14 and off the map.
You exited with 6 x Dagger for a total of 1440m. Multiplied, this comes to 2880m.

[member="Ayden Cater"] your fire and bombing run brought down the Colossus at last.
You exited the map with 2 x Noble, 1 x Unyielding, 2 x Horn for a total of 3500m. This multiplies to a total of 7000m.
The remaining Rogue Sith attack craft lose 5 squadrons of fighters and 1 bomber before the rest disperse.

[member="Zark"] Unfortunately there was literally nothing left for you to fire at by the time you came.

[member="Cyrus Tregessar"] your fire and bombers overwhelmed the Krayt and destroyed it.
There were no Boneshatters left in 04.13 so your fleeing ships had no target.

[member="William Kerkov"] I redirected your Destroyers to 08.15 as their destination was taken. I did not redirect the Triumph as it did not need to be.
The Agony was completely destroyed by your fire. The Avatar likewise was also destroyed.
Most of your moves made no sense, especially your escorts, but I redirected them off the map as requested. They inflicted heavy shield damage on the Interdictor Cruiser
You exited with 3 x Dagger and 3 x Fortan for a total of 1320m. Multiplied this comes to 2640m.

@Roderick von Brinkerhoff your attack on the Rogue Sith fighters inflicted 6 squadrons of fighter and 1 of bomber casualties before they passed on.

OOC: This is it, the final regular round. Writers who have exited the map have a limited window to complete the missions above on the Omega. This will be handled by regular RP posting without templates, maps or stats. Only those who have exited this round can take part.

Others may continue to post now the battle is done, accepting surrender, assessing damage etc.

Gir watched through the holo-tank as the rogue One Sith flank collapsed under the combined firepower of the allied lightside fleets. A quick glance at the other portions showed that the relatively nascent First Order and the Mandalorians had also succeeded in breaking the forces arrayed them. Gir's eyes lingered on the shattered hull of a rogue One Sith star destroyer that the combined firepower of Galactic Alliance and Silver Jedi starships had brought down. Struck down, yet they keep fighting...we may end up being here for the long haul. Gir recalled his reduced strikecraft formations to rearm even as the Silver Jedi starships held their positions to support the allied advance into their enemies's lines. But as he did so, word of the rogue One Sith surrender began to filter through the ship's comms. He felt a surreal wave of relief flood throughout his body along with a mixture of other emotions he had kept bottled up throughout the battle. The threat of the Omega weapon still lingered, yet he trusted his allies would be able to accomplish the task. And we shall be here to ready to support them when they get back...

"Flight Control," said Gir, "better start organizing our shuttle craft for their rescue ops. See if you can work something out with our allies so that we all have our own designated zones. We don't need to see any other lives lost today."

"I got this...sir."

A wan smile engendered itself across Gir's face, "I trust you do."

He pulled up his rescue resources. He could see that the flight controller had already dedicated most of their shuttles to recover silver jedi pilots whose craft had been destroyed on the attack run on the Iridonia. A handful of other shuttles had been designated to recover escape pods from the destroyed frigate. He spared a quick glance at the estimated numbers of escape pods and other survivors cast among the charred wreckage of starships. The thought of how many had perished in the battle seemed a hideous number. He went halfway through a rough calculation in his head, but quickly gave up as he struggled to recall the exact numbers of crew on several of the One Sith warships. The galaxy has lost enough people to probably populate several outer rim worlds...maybe even a small Core world. The man from Hast pulled up the manifest of the Freedom-class Escort Frigates. Most had been carrying necessary war material to sustain the Silver Jedi fleet through their journey to the Omega weapon, but the Cerulean Spear and Iron Lance had several holds filled with a more humane item: rescue pods. He tapped a button, authorizing those ships's crew to deploy the pods to seek out and preserve the survivors of the battle as they drifted among the cold starlight and shattered hulls.

Summary of Actions:
-All warships hold current position
-Cerulean Spear and Iron Lance deploy rescue pods to preserve survivors from the battlefield for future recovery
-Strikecraft recovered
-noted strikecraft losses from last turn (3 starfighter squadrons, 1 bomber squadron)
-Shuttlecraft beginning rescue operations in the area of 01.12 to recover Silver Jedi pilots who are EVA and enemy survivors

"Sir, multiple lines are in position to leave the area."

"Good. Get us out of here before people start changing their minds about destroying the rest of the Sith fleet and turning their guns on each other." There was a pause, the tactical display was showing dozens, even hundreds of starfighter sized ships still out there. Many of them were belonging to the Imperial Fleet, the Mandalorians fielded some, but those were of no consequence, he had decided. It appeared that even the great Mandalorians couldn't even get close to the OMEGA. "Have the pilots been recalled?"

"Yes, Sir."

"Good, lock down the hangars. Send the orders to the rest of the fleet as well. Those ahead of us are getting out of here," he said. The communications officers and ensigns immediately went to work. The Support and Advanced Lines were capable of leaving the battlefield. They had received their orders to do so. Captain Jax watched on the tactical screen as they headed off and were soon to hyperspace out of the system, complements and all.

"Sir, the Spirit of Druckenwell is gone." Captain Hastings raised an eyebrow in question. Little was known about the Spirit, other than it was multiple ships put together to become one floating mass of metal. It wasn't pretty, but it had been big... And it was gone? Hmm.

"Something to think about another day."

Dha Werda Verda

The battle at large was finally over. The Rogue Sith fleet was broken, smaller enemy ships fleeing while others tried to hold at a last, desperate defense. The tactical map was emptying, with Sith vessels vanishing into hyperspace or breaking into derbies. A comms officer called out.

"Al'verde Horak, the Alliance and First Order vessels are broadcasting offers of surrender to the enemy ships. Shall we do the same?"

Verz thought for a moment, reflecting. Had he been on the opposite side, the Sith would never offer him surrender. He would have been killed at best. At worst, an experiment. The scarlet warrior had been around since the Sith Empire's invasions of Mandalorian space. He had seen the atrocities that they and their allies had visited on his people. His blood boiled as he remembered. The worst of them floated to the front of his mind.

The use of Mandalorian children, too young to fight, as human shields against airstrikes and bombardments. The massacre of the civilian population on Mandalorian worlds. The detonation of a fission bomb in Keldabe itself. Using [member="Mia Monroe"] as a test subject for vile experiments.

Verz's mind seethed with vitriol at the memories.

"No."

Verz's voice dripped with undisguised hatred.

"Continue firing. I want those ships destroyed. As many as we can. Have fighter squadrons destroy escape pods. Let the Sith know that no matter what banner they are under, that I will repay every atrocity they have visited upon our people with my own. Give no quarter. Show no mercy."

"Aye Al'verde."

The scarlet helmet nodded at the tactical officer.

"This is the Dha Werda Verda to all Mandalorian vessels. Continue firing on the enemy vessels. I repeat, continue fire. No quarter. No mercy."

Verz opened comm channels, switching to an open frequency that all could hear.

"This is Marshal Horak, of the Mandalorians. Let all Sith who hear this know. I swear, by my soul and place in the manda, that wherever I meet you in combat, be it planetside or in the gulf between the stars, I will visit death upon you. Wherever you hutuune, I will burn it to the ground. Whatever fortresses you build, I will break open. I will kill as many of you as possible, even if it results in my death. I will find you, and you will die."

Cyrus roused in something of a daze, irritated first by being woken at all, then by not understanding exactly why he had even been asleep with a battle on, third by the incessant buzzing of the comm system in his suite, and finally by the fact that he was sprawled out in a chair with empty bottles of alcohol scattered around and his uniform was wrinkled.

He staggered to his feet and managed, with considerable difficulty, to reach one of the comms boxes on the bulkhead.

"What is it," he half snarled, half mumbled, with total disregard for whomever may have been listening on the other end.

The pause on the other end lasted a fraction of a second longer than it should have.

"Speak up, gods damn it!"

"Uh, yes sir, begging your pardon, but your presence is requested on the command bridge. A message from the Grand Moff."

Cyrus was tempted to just tell Vayyrel to handle it, but he couldn't help but feel that with the battle still on, technically, he had a duty to show himself still in command. Without replying he cautiously worked his way around the room acquiring, in order, a final shot of something bitter and too warm, a new blouse, and his cover, then as gracefully as possible for a man who was both extremely drunk and very used to working while inebriated, he began to make his way back to CIC.

Almost as soon as he had stepped out of the suite then a mouse droid rolled up nearby, ostensibly sent by the ever-vigilant Vayyrel to guide him on his way. As if he needed the help. He aimed a kick at it, which it nimbly dodged away from with an almost contemptuous snort, then sped off to find someone less cantankerous to assist in some frivolous task.

An apt description for the current proceedings, Cyrus thought to himself. Damn, he was tired.

It was still nearly a quarter of an hour before he walked into CIC, looking only marginally disheveled. No one said a thing, besides the expected pronouncement of 'Admiral in Combat' as he stepped through the blast door. Commodore Vayyrel found him immediately, and for a moment he thought he saw a flash of concern on her face.

"The Sith forces have begun to retreat in earnest. What ships are caught out are asking to surrender, mostly to the Galactic Alliance, but a few have asked us."

"Denied." Cyrus muttered with a dismissive wave of his hand. "They had their chance once, they will get nothing from me now."

Vayyrel nodded, understanding, but continued anyway. "The Grand Moff has ordered all fleets to accept said offers and has placed those ships under our immediate protection. The Mandalorians, you see, are more of your mind."

Traditionally, this was where Cyrus would fly into a rage, probably start an argument with the Grand Moff, likely end up shooting something he wasn't supposed to, and end up on someone else's side again. Even as he stood there, he was able to consider the situation with something approaching rationality, and he knew that everyone, himself included, expected anger. But instead he just felt tired, so incredibly weary of it all.

"Very well. What else to report?"

"Search and rescue operations are proceeding. We've managed to stabilize drift of the Havoc and get it under tow, and we have units retrieving escape pods and shuttles from the Anguish, Wrack, and Ruin. Salvage teams are on their way to the Agony. Survivors are reporting that Commander Camrios of the Agony made if off in a pod. Commander Avuz of the Anguish never left the bridge, assumed dead, given that there's not enough left of the ship left to search."

"Good, lets pick up who we can, I wouldn't expect hostilities from our neighbors right now, they've their own casualties to sort."

"Yes sir, also, Grand Admiral [member="William Kerkov"] is dead."

Cyrus rocked backwards as if struck, then stumbled forward towards his command seat in a daze, hearing nothing though Vayyrel continued to speak about the details. Just like that, was it? One little mistake, one little accident and that was it, eh?

So the Sith were defeated, and Cyrus had proved to all who were watching that what he made he could destroy, and now... what? What legacy did that leave? Now Kerkov, another old spacer, was dead, and the First Order trucked on heedlessly, as dispassionate about it all as Cyrus had been when he ordered their fleets to charge headlong into the enemy guns. Was his fate the same? To die fighting for the sake of battle, amid stars that had been there a million years before and would still be there a million years hence?

Slumped in his seat he looked up at the main display, where a projection of the hulk and debris-ridden space was most prominent, and offered a mock toast to the pitiless void.

"I think, Mr. Kerkov, men such as us are not meant to live this long."

And he was so very weary.

With the Spirit of Druckenwell gone, command of the task force had fallen to one of the Noble-class Star Defenders, Ehorlen's End. Her captain was a middle-aged woman who proudly wore the Alliance uniform and had made it her life's work to serve the Galactic Alliance. "I-It's still moving towards the planet." Confusion rippled across her features as she attempted to understand what was going on. Until a few minutes ago, the weapon was turning to fire on the planet. In fact, it had moved into position and seemed to be in a state to fire. But then the sensors began to go off. Fluctuations in the superweapon's power output could be read even from a distance. The cause became perfectly clear once the ship moved to within line-of-sight of the hull breach caused by the wreckage of the Spirit of Druckenwell.

"One of the reactors has been destroyed, but it wasn't by the impact. It looks like it was done from the inside!" The captain grinned as she realized what was happening. The first odd power reading had been from the first reactor being destroyed. Judging from the state it was in, she guessed that the reactor they could see was likely the first one to be damaged. The second fluctuation then probably was a second reactor being destabilized. Elation ran through her as that moment of clarity spread. With two reactors down like this, the weapon probably wouldn't be able to fire. The planet was safe!

The joy was not to last, as she suddenly realized that the weapon was still moving towards the planet. Horror slowly set in as her mind began to register all the implications here. A ship as massive as Omega... Just its mass alone crashing into the planet would cause extensive devastation. But with a superlaser on board... The reactors needed to power such a weapon would have an explosive effect magnitudes beyond any conventional weapon just on their own...

"Get word to our forces on the ground; if they're not already on transports, then get on one. Stop everything they're doing and get out of there. The weapon is going to impact the planet, it could destroy it!" Silence reigned on the bridge for just a moment before everyone snapped back to their work, a fervor seeping into their movements that had not been there a few moments earlier. "Send out a system-wide message, all channels. Everyone needs to know what's about to happen." She began to turn before she froze as a thought struck her. If there were people on the weapon that had damaged it...

"Launch our dropships. Send detachments of battledroids to Omega. I want them to secure a hanger. Let any friendly forces aboard know that we have that hanger secured and to get onboard a dropship to evacuate before it's too late. I don't care if they're Mandalorian, Republic, or First Order; we could set aside our differences to fight the Sith here, we can keep them aside long enough to save as many lives as we can." Dropships began to spill out from the task force, hulls filled to the brim with battle droids ready to fight. The Alliance could afford to lose some non-sentient platforms and tools of war. The same could not be said of the brave men and women who served. No hero deserved to abandoned like that unless all options had been exhausted, and they weren't through yet.

"Alright, just because we're taking steps to evacuate the planet doesn't mean we're resigned to the planet's fate." The captain brought up a holographic scan of the weapon. "Patch me into our fighters. Red Group, sensor data shows several exposed power conduits and routing systems. Proceed on attack flight; destroy every power conduit you can. Blue group, your mission is to fly cover for Red Group should any Sith fighters show up. Provide fire support on secondary targets and remove any other threats to Red Group. If we can cause enough damage, we might be able to destroy the weapon before it impacts the planet. Make sure everyone on-board that weapon knows what we're up to; they're out of time and need to evacuate now!" Red Group began its approach towards Omega. Comprised mostly of the surviving bombers from the Spirit of Druckenwell's six bomber wings, they were joined by the B-Wings from the Horn-class cruisers. S-foils were locked into attack position and bombs were primed. On their flanks, Blue Group was similarly comprised largely of craft from the destroyed Alliance flagship. T-70 X-wings flew alongside A-Wings and Eharl-class fighters. Each pilot was on the lookout for any threats to the bombers. They all knew that their mission could very well mean the difference between a new morning for Castameer or another asteroid field in the system.

As the fighters moved in, dropships finished launching from the Alliance ships, heading towards one of Omega's massive hanger bays. Any cannons that might have fired upon them were laid into by the heavy capital ship fire. As they landed and their ramps lowered, battle droids began to pour out to secure the area. They were fortunate to land in a hanger that had previously been secured. "To all friendlies on Omega; The Alliance has secured a hanger for evacuation. Anyone not a fething Sith bastard who needs a lift needs to get here as soon as possible. The weapon is going to crash shortly unless we destroy it. You need to evacuate right now. If you're wounded, we have medical aid. I repeat, Omega is going to crash and you need to get off now unless you want this thing to be your tomb. Mandalorian, First Order, Alliance; doesn't matter. Just get off this thing!" They would not be abandoned. They would not be left behind.

Thirty one of the First Order's most courageous and disciplined starfighter pilots raced towards the [member="Omega"] super-weapon - the rest having broken off to provide sector defense for the battered First Order fleet. The threat of Rogue Sith naval or starfighter action was minimal now that their forces had been effectively routed, but caution won just as many decisive victories as aggressive spirit and thus, the fighter force was minimally divided.

"Good copy, we're going to come at it full power to engines. Remember speed is life against defensive fire." Roderik spoke into his helmet comm-link as he checked his instruments. He was receiving constant telemetry updates from his prior station aboard Concordia's command bridge, as well as advisement from further scanning information from the fleet as well as his own sensor read-outs. Power fluctuations were registering to the fleet, indicating damage to multiple reactor systems - and additional reports of critical components being exposed rolled through his limited display screen.

The Colonel made up his mind almost immediately upon internalizing the information for his brain to process and analyze. The tactical situation called for two priorities, and he immediately called to [member="Sara Lee Jones"], "Bolt lead, I want you to break off and form with Charlie squadron. Charlie Leader," He addressed Captain [member="Greta Kohler"] over the comm now, "We need to knock out those engines. See what you can do about-" He cut himself off, pausing as he registered additional sensor contacts. Galactic Alliance starfighters dotted his sensor display screen, including larger signatures belonging to B-Wing heavy fighter/bombers. They would pack a larger punch than anything his fighters could do right now.

"See what you can do about that, Charlie Leader, and try to play it safe around any third parties. Last thing we need is a new enemy right now, so watch your fire."

Another pause came before he announced final orders, "Bravo Leader," He called to [member="Nils Brenner"] this time, "You will be taking lead on the first attack run on their weapons power station. I will follow with Alpha squadron to commence a second run immediately after you." Roderik tapped an array of keys and buttons along the cockpit interior, the purpose of which was to input the navigational coordinates to Bravo squadron's captain, for their attack run. It would take them along the super-weapon's equator, to the focusing beams needed to fully harness the destructive power. It was their best chance at dealing any kind of crippling blow, especially with their ordnance of concussion missiles.

It was also a long sprint to make, amidst the heaviest defensive resistance presentable.

Roderik did the only thing he could sensibly do, and flipped to an open, short-range comm-frequency in the hopes that the Alliance starfighters would be listening.

"This is the commander of the First Order starfighters currently engaging our mutual enemy. We are prioritizing our attacks on the engines and weapon systems, but we do not have sufficient firepower to confirm success." The truth stung to announce so openly, but his pride would not see his mission doomed, "I suggest priority weapons." He switched back to the First Order's frequency now, but maintained listening for a response on the open channel.

"Good luck. Balance knows we're all going to need it."

Roderik urged his starfighter forward, dangerously close to overloading it's twin ion engines. The over-performing engines burning out the internal components from stress wear and tear, acted as a figurative parallel to the excited beating of his adrenaline-fueled heart, not-so-slowly wearing down on his central nervous system.

She gave a smile a sshe relayed the orders and noddes* Roger that alpha lead breaking off and forming* she said as she quickly moved her squadron behind [member="Greta Kohler"]* Charlie lead bolt flight is now under your command awaiting orders

She said as she looked to her Radar then around, the alliance was close, made her kinda nervous but outwardly she didn't show a thing at all

She looked at omega, looming within the front of her tie, it was astounding piece of work she had to admit, but sadly....a machine meant to kill without a thought....she hoped whoever made it burned in hell

The ringing in his ears overpowered all other senses momentarily, teeth grinding as the TIE/sf rattled and shook. They'd all but wiped out the enemy fighters and broken through the lines of the rogue Sith fleet. Nils' firm grip on the starfighter's controls the only thing keeping his ship from plummeting out of control. On his last pass he'd managed to take out a fleeing enemy bomber but he hadn't anticipated quite as large as an explosion as there had been and it had sent his ship spinning through the debris. As the initial shock of the explosion wore off and the pilot's hearing began to fade back in his ears were assaulted by a cacophony of alarms and blaring squeals from his BB-10 droid. Frantically flipping switches and scanning his readouts he struggled to determine what was causing the alarms. He glanced up, guiding his fighter away from the small pocket of debris. Rapidly manipulating control switches and dials he shut off the alarms, only a few residual flashing lights indicating that he'd taken some minor hull damage.

A glint of light in front of him concerned him. As he squinted to get a better look a cold sweat broke out on his forehead and sent chills through his entire body. Directly in the center of his cockpit viewscreen was an embedded chunk of metal, a small dagger sized shard of durasteel lodged there. His eyes flicked to the side, according to his readouts there was nothing wrong aside from the damage already inflicted on his rearward facing ventral turret and a few minor dings on the hull. He'd long since shut out all emotion, instead relying on his hunter instincts. He would deal with the breach as it became relevant. He had control. He had life support. Everything else was secondary.

Nils heard the call go out over the comms. This was it, the final push, the last hurrah. He wasn't going to let some piece of shrapnel count him out of the fight just yet. Keying up the comm he responded, his voice cold and level.

:: Bravo Leader. Affirmative. Falling into position. ::

Nils examined his control panel as he adjusted his bearing. He was going to need all the speed he could get. A droid could manage power for him well enough, even pulling some tricks that he didn't think possible but the droids had been programmed with limits, limits that could only be broken by human means. Nils began flipping a few toggle switches, adjusting the power distribution of his TIE's management system. As he flipped one of the switches the BB-10 unit squealed at him loudly, sharp chirps indicating an objection to something the pilot had done. Nils had learned the technical ins and outs of the TIE/sf's, in fact he'd even modified his power management at the beginning of the prolonged encounter though considerably more conservatively. Now he'd dropped life support to a bare minimum, rerouting any and all additional power to the twin ion engines. Inputting a few more commands he adjusted a few settings, allowing for a quick transfer of power into his weapon systems at the flick of a switch. He didn't know what the flight speed record for the TIE/sf was but had anyone been watching it would have looked quite strange to see a TIE/sf move so swiftly. Engines screaming he closed the distance between himself and the so called "Omega", the slow fire from the weapon's large turbolaser defense grid unable to track the fighter as it streaked towards the equatorial trench.

Nils was thankful for the extra speed he was pushing out of the TIE, most of the fire was missing his tail. Surprising to the pilot almost all signs of attempted target locks were gone, no alarms sounding on that account. It figured, a small fighter such as a TIE would likely be hard to pick out among the chaos that was the failing Sith fleet. As he approached the trench a new alarm began sounding. Enemy interceptors, travelling far to fast to be regular fighters. If he didn't adjust course they'd be on him soon, three signatures appearing on his HUD. He'd have to adjust. He was good but he wasn't that good. Sharply twisting the controls he guided the TIE closer to the hull of the superweapon, so low that he was beginning to have to pay attention to where the turrets were. Flicking a switch he transferred some power to his weapons, the TIE shuddering as power redirected from the ion engines.

Squeezing tightly as he brought his weapons to bear on a nearby turret housing. Bright lasers shot forward peppering the gun turret until it exploded, Nils turning his craft away from the blast and parallel to the trench. He needed to get into the trench if he was to evade the quickly closing interceptors. He keyed up once more, patching into the remaining fighters that were to join him in this final run.

:: Bravo Lead. Three Bogeys closing fast. Rear turret out of commission, gonna need someone to watch my six. ::

Carefully he watched as the enemy blips tracked closer and closer, his other eye reading the distance to the trench. He was almost there. Several seconds passed, the cusp of the trench was in visual sight.

:: Bravo Lead. Entering the trench now, those bogeys are almost on me. ::

His voice was eerily calm considering the rapidly escalating danger. It was one of the many qualities that had allowed him to become such a respected combat pilot, calm in the face of danger. It also made understanding what was going on over comms much clearer as many rookie pilots would yell or shout into the comm when under duress. Additionally it acted as a calming mechanism for many of the newer pilots to hear the calm and collected voice of their leader despite the chaos of aerial combat. With a rearward pull and a twist to the right his fighter pulled up, performing a corkscrew as he dipped down into the trench. He'd made it to the trench but now he needed to muster all the focus he could to fly through the tight space. Nils hoped his fellow pilots were close, if he was alone in the trench for long the enemy interceptors would tear him to shreds with ease.

Roderik maintained his TIE Fighter in a high orbit above [member="Nils Brenner"] and his alpha squadron, acting as an over-watch in preparation from his own attack run soon to commence. Almost immediately upon alpha squadron's remaining fighters breaking off to enter the equatorial trench at breakneck speeds, Roderik knew that he had stretched his forces out too thin. He hoped that [member="Greta Kohler"]'s TIE squadron, assisted by [member="Sara Lee Jones"]'s flight of TIE fighters, were faring better at disabling the behemoth's engine power systems. That fleeting hope was all the Colonel could afford them, before he committed his own alpha squadron.

"Alpha Lead, all alpha craft initiate attack run now! Move in to relieve bravo squadron of some pressure and proceed jointly to target zone." Roderik key'd the pilots under his control as acting alpha squadron leader. At the same time, he violently yanked his control yoke forward, starting his fighter into a steep descent - diving with a trajectory poised to take him in behind [member="Nils Brenner"]'s projected location at the end of the dive.

"Just a little longer, Bravo Lead," Roderik spoke to reassure his friend and flying compatriot, who would recognize his commander's voice without need of call-sign.

Cycling to his remaining two mag-pulse warheads, Roderik took aim at the rear-most two of the pursuing Sith interceptors - letting loose a single EMP warhead per target before switching back to laser cannons. He would need his remaining concussion missiles for targeting the beam arrays for the [member="Omega"] weapon.

Matching up the projected flight path of the lead Sith interceptor, he prepared to let loose an accurate burst of fire when the two warheads near-simultaneously found their targets. He had predicted no need to follow up with laser blasts, as the disabled fighters were surely to careen off-course and crash into the walls of the trench, which they did.

The final pursuer had little time to react to their sensor reports and/or last warnings cried out by now-deceased wingmen. Roderik opened fire from rapidly closing range with linked laser fire, opting for maximum lethality instead of maximum rate of fire. His shots would hit home, causing a tremendous flash of light in front of him. Instinctively the starfighter pilot pulled back on the yoke, sending his fighter into a tight climb out of the trench just in time to pass above the wreckage and debris of his confirmed kill. Equally instinctively, Roderik rolled his fighter inverted and dove back into the trench, onto the wing of [member="Nils Brenner"], just a few meters behind.

"You're clear, Bravo Lead! Full power to engines, we need to end this!"

They were very near to the target zone now.

Sara looked around at her flight then forward seeing the massive power systems, she gulped and spoke* bolt flight push those engines we gotta make sure this damn thing doesn't go anywhere* she said a she pushed her engines onto afterburner mode
