Vulpesen
Five thousand years was quite the shock, but for Fomys the difference between two hundred and one thousand and five thousand wasn’t worth thinking about. They all meant that if they lived out natural lives not interrupted by outside forces, Vulpesen would drastically outlive her. Of course she need only deal with the guilt of knowing if they ended up together, she would in all likelihood leave him during his lifetime by no fault of their own. Vulpesen was the one who would have to deal with much more than her.
The fact that Vulpesen seemed to be resigned to the fact that he would not live a full natural life wasn’t exactly comforting. However, when he declared himself quick, clever and powerful a smirk formed on Fomys’ lips. She didn’t doubt his words. The fact that he didn’t seem deterred by their difference in lifespan, did give Fomys comfort. Fomys also tried to be more of an in the moment girl. She had an eye to the future in some senses. She was a romantic, so she wanted to find a partner to share her life with. And she thought, maybe at some point, that a family would be in her future.
”I can see how we were matched together despite some differences then. I also prefer to focus on what is in my proximity versus what is way off in the distance. An police investigator’s life isn’t nearly as dangerous as it seems you might have lived, but there are no guarantees of safety. I hate the idea of missing out on something because of how it might affect my future.”
Fomys felt Vulpesen’s eyes upon her. She didn’t have the Force to lean on, but she was trained to be aware of her surroundings, even when her focus should have been the beauty of space. She looked over to her date and gave a soft smile. He gave a brief, bleak history of his people, and of their recovery from the brink. She batted her eyes in wonder as he expressed the changes that he had seen happen. And his guess that her people would someday find peace again.
”The Empire grows quickly,” Fomys responded to this with a bit of a sigh.
”We aren’t on the border really anymore. Some of those who don’t wish to live under the oppressive thumb talk of leaving…Honestly, I’m not sure that wouldn’t be the best thing. There are possible places.”
Vulpesen’s idea of fun made Fomys giggle in slight nervousness. She knew he was serious, which made her swoon not a little. Someone who took such things into his own hands was her version of that knight in shining armor fantasy. Of course in Fomys’ fantasy she would be next to and aiding the knight, not waiting patiently to be saved herself. She could see being by Vulpesen’s side and making a play to wrestle control of New Alderaan from the Empire. It wouldn’t happen tomorrow to be sure, but she could certainly see it as a possibility.
The rest of Vulpesen’s pastimes were more of what the galaxy would consider normal. Fomys nodded slowly as she listened. She wondered what hunting looked like to Vulpesen. If things continued as well as they were going now that would be something that they could do together. She pictured Vulpesen hunting with his hand and his wiles, which would be something new and different to Fomys. Walks were also something that Fomys enjoyed. Though she wondered if Vulpesen’s outings were limited to Jedi temples and if she would be welcome.
”I try to stay active. I shockbox a little, I go on hikes in the forests and when I can get away I like to visit the beaches. I keep a small blaster collection as well…”
