A Side of Terror with that Speech Please? (Open)

Before he could respond to @@Robb Killian, Korin's ears were assailed by a near-deafening explosion in the distance. In the direction of what he had assumed was University of Alderaan, there was a persisting pillar of fire, surrounded by a pillowing cloud of debris.

Huh... I guess it worked. Damn, but that's an impressive payload. It was safe to bet that there was a rather large flaming hole where there was once a symbol of Republic pride and learning. Turning back to the transport, Korin wordlessly clapped Robb on the shoulder as he jumped up into the gunship.

Having successfully collected the 'Bombing team' Robb was ready to get back to the plaza. He strapped himself back into the pilot's seat as the ground beneath the ship rumbled. Damn charges must be taking the whole sewer system down.

Robb brought the engines to live with the press of a button and brought the gunship off of the ground a moment later. Robb watched from the viewport as the street beneath them began to crumble, and collapse in some places. Glad I'm not down there.

Robb brought his attention back to his flying, It would seem I am easily distracted today. Robb maneuvered the ascending gunship in the direction of the plaza where the rest of the crew were, apparently, still fighting. Robb keyed the ship's comm, "This is 'fire team' leader, we have collected the 'bombing team' and are en route to the plaza, what is your status?"

A few moments dragged on as the gunship neared the plaza, even from this distance Robb could clearly hear the din of battle. What's going on down there? Robb keyed the comm again, "'Assault team' do you read me? [member="Iris Tyrad"]? [member="Kallion"] ? [member="Snipes"] ? Does anyone read me? Over"

The miniature war in the plaza raged on, people were burning, others crawled around searching for missing limbs but most had died a quick and painless death. The terrifying truth was that most of these dead were civilians, innocents, unexpecting victims. Luckily Iris had go there late and avoided most of the killings of the innocents, he didn't approve of the murders but the aim was to create as much terror as possible.

Iris heard his comm crackle to life "'Assault team' do you read me? Iris? Kallion? Snipes? Does anyone read me? Over" it was Robb's voice, his way out of this hellhole. "Oh am I glad to hear your voice!" Iris barked down the communicator, shouting over the gunfire and death behind him. "It's gone to sh-" Iris got cut off as an explosion shook the floor beneath his feet "anyway, I could really use an extraction about.....now" Iris shouted, the urgency was clear in his voice. Iris could only hope Robb would get there in time, if so they all might live to fight another day.

"I read, over. VIP is down, shot in the heart. Where is the evac point, over?" Snipes said.
Things were getting hectic in the plaza now. While the other mercenaries were doing a valiant job, the police were getting numbers now and the special forces teams were beginning to show. And they were good. Terrorists on the streets were taking a beating. Some have found Snipes' position and blaster bolts started to head her direction, forcing her to take cover more often. She can hold her own but this was a terrorist attack, not a war or battle.

The gunship was a mere block away from plaza when the first of the team responded, "Oh am I glad to hear your voice!" Iris barked over the comm, Robb could hear gunfire and screaming in the background."It's gone to sh-" Iris's transmission was cut off by a wave of static, "anyway, I could really use an extraction about.....now," Iris was shouting now, voice dripping with urgency.

Robb was about to respond when another transmission come through the channel, "I read, over. VIP is down, shot in the heart. Where is the evac point, over?" Well that has to be Snipes, now I know where to go first.

Robb maneuvered the gunship over the high-rise where Snipes was supposed to be before he keyed the comm, "Snipes I'm flying over your position now, Tyrad I'll be coming for you next, I think its time we took our leave." The gunship took some small arms fire from below but landed on the roof without much of a hitch, it was time to collect the surviving crew and get paid. Provided nothing went wrong of course.

"Acknowledged," was the reply. What the man said was true for she heard the sound of gunship engines heading her way. She fired one more round before she hid behind cover and reloaded. Suddenly the gunship appeared before her. She quickly got on and banged on the side of the gunship to signal that she was in. She looked out the back with her sniper rifle to provide covering fire.

Robb heard Snipes bang on the bulkhead and knew it was time to go, and like that the gunship was airborne once again. Robb keyed his comm as he manuevered the gunship away from the rooftop and the plaza, planning to make another pass, "Alright, [member="Iris Tyrad"], Kallion, you're up. It's getting way too hot down there so we've got one shot at this."

Robb angled the gunship as straight as he could get it as he flew between the buildings. He swooped down and set the gunship to hover in the side street where he had dropped off 'fire team' before, he angled the port side of the gunship towards the plaza so that the turrets, and any passengers brave enough to start shooting, could fire at any potential threats. This is Kallion and Tyrad's last know position, I hope they make it here before it's too late.

Since Iris had landed in the alley way, he hadn't moved more than 100 metres. In fact, Iris had taken a defensive position in the second floor window of the building nextdoor.

The steady and powerful noise from the gunship, was louder than the battle in the plaza, which had now died down a little since most of the mercenaries were even dead or detained. Noticing the gunship had landed back by the alley way Iris realised it would take to long to travel back through the building.

Jumping from the window, that had been blown out by blaster fire, Iris landed hard on his feet. Without even allowing himself to regain balance Iris sprinted to the gunship, adrenaline fuelled his body, he pushed his muscles to max. Finally he reached the gunship, jumping the last metre into the ship, he landed on the ground, not even attempt to move, he was exhausted, aching and just wanted to rest. Before completely breaking Iris shouted towards the cockpit "I'm in!"

"Your extracting us?" Kallion asked [member="Robb Killian"] "If so then good, I'm just about out of ammo." Kallion looked at his weapon, only four shots left for his Sonic Cannon, and only a clip left for his Pulse Rifle "But you might want to hurry." Kallion shot at some random thing, for effect, before moving back a bit to give him more room.

Korin leaned out of the gunship, taking a look at the surrounding ruins. Did I do this? Or was it the fighting?

He was shaken from his thoughts by a man turning from behind an broken speeder to fire at the ship. Taking aim, Korin fired two quick blasts his way. Dead before he hit the ground.

He could here the fighting, they didn't have much time! Where the hell is [member="Kallion"] ?

This was beautiful. So much destruction, so much terror. All to show the failure of the republic. He needed to congratulate whoever organised this...
>Tracing Contact
>DENIED
Now this. This was even better. Whoever contacted these mercenaries and terrorists covered their tracks well. Z3AL could wait, surely after a success like this, the mastermind of the plan would return to bring more terror to the republic. All Z3AL had to do was wait...

Alexandra watched as those responsible either fell dead before her and [member="Ordo"] or escaped. Comms had left security in disarray and the only thing that now brought troops to the scene was the University of Alderaan's destruction thanks to the bomb that had been placed under it. What more was there, in the ground around her hundreds lay dead, several spires, residential buildings, had been collapsed killing hundreds more in them and trying to get away. The entire thing though generated immense amounts of fear and as those amounts grew worse Alexandra slowly receded to make way for Hel, who drew those fears into a orb she had crafted to make the gathering and use of such a thing, of fears that slithered their way into someone's mind, possible. Though while this happened Alexandra was still mostly in control and looked up at [member="Korin Undoli"], [member="Kallion"], [member="Iris Tyrad"], and [member="Robb Killian"] in their gunship and in a moment she cracked, anger, pure as the feeling could be exploded from her and taking a rocket launcher from a dead man she sent the projectile at the gunship, the aim corrected though the force as she watched.

"Oh kark, there's the gunship." Kallion said as he ran as fast a he could towards the gunship, heavy thuds followed him along with the clicks and clicks of his gear. Jumping in Kallion shouted "I'm in!" Before grabbing onto something to keep him steady "And just in time too..." He muttered, tired just from running, and the stress from what he'd just done "Can we get out of here now? I'm done with this job." he had said this a little late due to the fact of a rocket now flying towards their gunship 'Oh. Great.'

Robb heard the clank of boots as someone boarded the gunship, "I'm in!" [member="Kallion"] shouted. And not a moment too soon. Robb was done waiting, if anyone else had survived they would have to find their own escape route, this LZ was getting way too hot for comfort.

Robb stole a glance at the plaza before lifting off, looks like the rest of us got mopped up. He slumped slightly in his seat as the gunship gradually gained altitude. It's over.

Robb's relief was short lived as one of the gunners shouted through the comm, "Rocket Incoming! Port side!" A quick glance out of the view-port proved the report correct.

Robb didn't even bother keying his comm, he simply shouted over his shoulder as he veered the gunship left, and away from the rocket, as hard and fast as it would go, "Everybody hang on!"

The ship's comm channel flooded with shouts of panic and frustration as the port side gunners fired their weapons in the direction of the rocket, "I can't hit the karking thing! It keeps moving!"

"Come on, come on, stay still you little..."

"Get us out of here!"

Robb did his best to ignore them all as he fought to keep the ship moving in the right direction without hitting any of the adjacent buildings. Focus...

A particularly wide gap in the buildings enabled Robb to steer the gunship so that it faced away from the rocket. Now he could put the full power of the engines into their escape. They had nearly made it to the next intersection, and their escape, when one of the gunners shouted desperately over the comm. "Brace for imp-"

There was a flash as the rocket made contact with the gunship, its' frame shuttered, and everything quaked as the force of the blast lurched the ship forward. Robb would have surely been propelled from his seat had it not been for his safety belt. Head ringing, he checked the system's panel and everything was flashing red. He fought the controls, in-vain, as the gunship went down hard, bow-first, and landed with the terrible sound of scraping metal and roaring fire. Robb watched through the view-port as the street scraped by before him, briefly considering what life as a skid-mark would have been like had he not been secured in his seat.

When the ship finally lurched to a halt, Robb could not believe he was still alive, it took him a moment to realize how tightly he was gripping the controls, and even longer to notice how much he was shaking. Well...kark.

Things were going smoothly. While Snipes was picking off people in the back of the gunship the pilot was doing a great job of picking up the other members. Things were quickly deteriorating but their pilot was skilled and so were the operatives. With the last operative picked up they were on their way out. They were on their way to getting paid, celebrating their success, and going home. Then fate decided to intervene.

A comment from one of her coworkers, [member="Kallion"], caused her to look to see a missile flying toward them. Though her outward appearance remained cool, inside she had felt panic. She briefly considered shooting the rocket down with her sniper rifle but thought against it. Such a shot required the greatest of concentration and the pilot was already performing evasive action. Instead she strapped in and hoped for the best. The pilot was every bit of man they paid for as he expertly crashed into the ground.

Snipes was one of the first to recover. She looked around then went to the cockpit to check on the pilot, [member="Robb Killian"]. In flight crashes pilots typically were casualties. Snipes may be a lone wolf but she cared for her comrades. She shook his shoulder asking, "You awake?"

Robb maintained his white-knuckled grip on the controls , his jaw muscles were flexing in rhythm with his heartbeat as he replayed the events of the past few minutes over and over again in his head, Clench, tighter..., release. Clench, tighter..., release.

Robb realized he was still shaking and forced himself to calm down, taking deep breaths, counting the three in between each one. In through the nose, 2, 3, out through the mouth. Still alive... Still alive...

A hand on his shoulder shook Robb out of his calming ritual and if it weren't for his safety harness, he would surely have left out of his seat. "You awake?"

Robb shook his head clear, forcing himself to calm down, Get a grip, you can sort it all out later. He turned his head, wincing with mild pain, to see [member="Snipes"] staring down at him from the threshold of the cockpit.

Robb turned his neck, this way and that, in an attempt at working out the kink that had developed during the crash, eventually succeeding as his neck made an audible cracking sound. Much better. Next he slowly pried his hands away from the controls, his palms were sweaty and his right knuckle had been grazed in the crash but otherwise his hands seemed alright.

He unbuckled his safety harness and attempted to rise, bracing himself on the arms of his chair. His was sore all over, his chest hurt from where the harness tore at him, his palms ached from gripped the controls, and his calves were sore, apparently he had been pressing his feet against the wall beneath the controls and was now paying for it. Rookie mistake. He clenched his teeth again as he rose, slowly, to his full height. He gave himself once last pat down and determined that, apart from his noted injuries, and a cut on his forehead, he was no worse for wear. Finally the adrenaline was wearing off and the shaking subsided.

With his calm demeanor restored he turned to snipes and looked directly into her eyes. Normally speaking with a woman would make him nervous but he forced his feelings aside, this was still a combat situation and he had to remain focused. "Y-yeah...I'm good. Lets go check on the others."

Ordo watched as the Rocket sped toward the gunship with no small amount of satisfaction. His weapon clicked and he dropped the clip and reloaded a new one with practiced precision. The sounds of fear and battle still hung in the air and he moved forward and aimed at the gunship's gunners. His weapon fired it's 7.62mm slugs at the gunship but stopped after a moment. He knew it wouldn't be of much use but he loaded a HE grenade into his under barrel grenade launcher took aim and fired at the fleeing ship. If the grenade struck it would mean a bad day for the pilot and crew. He was hoping for their bad day.

A quick walk-through of the gunship revealed that two of the four gunners had died in the crash, one had bashed his head open against his turret on impact, while the other had neglected to wear her harness and had been propelled through the view-port, leaving a nasty spray of blood and gore everywhere.

That left the third gunner sitting in a spreading pool of his own blood, bleeding to death. Of the fourth there was no trace.

Thankfully, the rest of his companions were still alive, unconscious, but alive. The remaining firebomb was, thank the maker, intact. Robb felt his pockets and was further relieved to feel the detonator safe within one of the pouches on his belt.

When Robb didn't see his friend, [member="Korin Undoli"], among the bodies in the gunship he was concerned. He looked from the passenger compartment, where most of his companions remained, to the gaping hole in the side of the gunship that had once been the loading door. There were scorch marks surrounding the hole and a few seats were missing. Something, or someone, had blown a hole in the side of the ship at some point during or before the crash. When the hell did that happen?

Robb stepped out of, and away from the gunship and into the waning light of Alderaan's setting sun to search for his friend. The ringing in his ears was subsiding and, even though the gunship obstructed his view of the plaza and the rest of the street between them, he could hear the sounds of blaster-fire, coming from the plaza even at this distance. The city itself was alive with activity as security personnel fought to control the chaos and panic, all around him people screamed and fled this way and that. This crash won't go unnoticed forever, we have to move, now.

Korin wasn't entirely sure how he'd ended up out of his seat. He could remember and explosion, the heat, the light, but that was it.

He was on his back, his ears were ringing, and it felt like his arm was engulfed in flames. Turning his head to the left, he could see a hand in front of his face. Wait a minute...

Against all logic or reason, Korin jolted up into a seated position, and he regretted it immediately. The change in position had agitated a left arm that was not hanging the way it was supposed to. His shoulder appeared to be jutting forward further than it should have the means to, and his elbow had been bent back the wrong way.

He knew that he couldn't possibly have long before somebody noticed that the terrorists had been downed. He had to do something about this now. The elbow seemed as good a place as any to start.

Taking the neckline of his torn shirt between his teeth, Korin brought his good arm across his body, taking hold of his left wrist. He maneuvered his arm so his inner elbow pressed against his knee. Well... Here goes...

A sharp tug. A deafening crack. A blinding pain. These are the things Korin perceived after he pulled his left arm against his knee, forcing it to bend the proper direction. While that was not at all what any good doctor would recommend, he couldn't afford crooked limbs right now.

Wiping the sweat from his brow, Korin made an attempt to stand. After a labored few seconds, he managed to fully rise, albeit a bit shakily. Upon inspection, there appeared to be two large chunks of shrapnel sticking out of his right ankle, each about one half by three inches. Knowing there was no safe way to pull those out now, Korin limped over to a nearby signpost, miraculously undestroyed by the surrounding carnage.

Taking a deep breath, he squared his feet before the post, taking a couple steps back. After a few moments of gathering his nerve, Korin exhaled, and ran straight at the signpost. He drove his misaligned shoulder into the unyielding metal, a sickening pop echoing in his ears as he finished the grueling process of returning his arm to barely passable condition.

He shuffled along the ground, leaning back against the post for a moment. He felt entitled to a moment to catch his breath. Turning his head, he could see the crashed ship that had launched him. How the hell did I get all the way over here?

He saw two figures exiting the gunship. Straining his eyes, Korin saw that it was Robb and... I think her name was Snipes? Whatever...

Figuring they'd see him in a moment, Korin took hold of his sore arm, cradling it close to his torso as he waited. He might need a hand up this time.

The pilot, while shaken, was okay enough to get up and walk around. At his suggestion they checked on the other crew. Many of the gunners died but some of the other companions were okay. It was then when she noticed her sniper rifle laying on the ground. It's barrel was bent at a strange angle and the chamber was sparking. Damn it Denise! She thought as she lifted the useless sniper rifle only to toss it back on the ground. Now Snipes no longer had a government to give her a new one. She would have to use her own funds but hopefully if they get out of this alive she should have enough to get a new one. It was a Republic rifle but Denise did her job well and losing a rifle to her was like losing a friend. She crouched in silent mourning in remembrance for Denise's faithful service.

She brought herself back to the present and saw that [member="Robb Killian"] had stepped out of gunship. They couldn't stay here, the smoke will attract attention and some people weren't keen on asking questions before shooting. Snipe pulled out her blaster pistol, Steve, and exited the craft. She stood next to the pilot and looked around. People were fleeing in panic while some scattered security were trying in vain to bring order to this overwhelming chaos. She then spotted a familiar face, one of the members of the team named [member="Korin Undoli"], limping towards them. He seemed to be injured for he was cradling his arm and looked to be in pain. Snipes gave a light elbow jab to the pilot then pointed to the wounded comrade before she entered the chaos to reach him.
