Ah, names xD
I'll start with my username, Vereaux. When I first started writing, I had to start somewhere. That place was GaiaOnline, and it was there I met a woman who created a fantasy setting dealing with a Fae clan named Vereaux. Let's just say it was a very big family xP I came in as her older brother, Michael Vereaux, who disappeared when he went to the east. What the name means, I have no clue. I've been using the name ever since xD
Sorin Vanado is a recent invention in some respects. Sorin means "sun", derived from the Romanian word "soare" which has Latin roots to "sol" or sun. I knew immediately the character would need red hair, but his current form wasn't for Star Wars, but back at Gaia when I made him into a tall mercenary with long hair. This was back around five or so years ago, but two years ago, I personally took the name as my pagan name in real life without realizing I had used it before, though it just stuck anyway and I've being using it since. The name Vanado didn't come about until I was joining a different Star Wars website. I wanted something to sound cool that started with a V, but felt frustrated. Then I came across the element "Vanadium" that appears as a red crystal in nature as Vanadinite. Considering the symbol is a V and the obvious connection to the color red, I tweaked the name slightly and Sorin Vanado was born =)
Dumah Zohar was not a recent invention, and has a very biblical connection. The name Dumah is from an angel, known as a "thousand-eyed angel of death" and the word itself is from the Aramaic word for "silence". The word fit so perfectly in my mind because I wanted him to be an assassin, the death aspect, and the concept of silence when dealing with a villain has always perked my interest. The name Zohar comes directly from "The Zohar" from the Kabbalah in Jewish literature. I choose it because I wanted his character to be that of a foundation, the origins and ideals of "silence" that would become part of his story. As an angel of death, he would be the bridge between good and evil, a balance or silence, that would watch the world from the shadows.
