The amount of excitement coming from Squadron 7-8 as they engaged Jade Squadron was very easy to see. Even as some of the X-Wings were taken out by 'enemy fire', they were clearly having fun. True, they were outnumbered by the teams combined and outclassed, but it didn't matter. Their lives weren't on the line, so they took risks, using different flying techniques, some of them experimental for the pilots, just to see if they could pull them off.
There were a few close calls, by the way of some of them missing eachother by mere inches. Although the weapons being used weren't real, the ships were and crashes, injuries, even death. All of that was still possible.
General Okto's voice was soon heard, being broadcasted to all of his squadrons. ~Keep your heads. This may be a game, but it's no reason to look stupid out there! Squadrons 1-3, you are clear to engage the transports. Stop them from reaching this station! Squadrons 4-6, break off and stop that Star Destroyer from breaking our shields!~ He cutt off the transmission as he found that he was losing control of himself a little bit. Yet he had to remind himself that these weren't seasoned vets that were working under him. They were green.
As the word was given, each squadron followed orders. From the viewport of the station, the entire firefight out there looked like a big mess. The attack from the Star Destroyer was more powerful than they had expected would be brought to this exercise. "Let's hope we don't lose the emitter on the surface. Or this could end a lot quicker than anticipated."
¤Squadrons 7-8 continue to engage Jade squadron, taking losses - 16/24
¤Squadron 4-6 split off to engage Natalie's SD and the fighters accompanying it.
¤Squadrons 1-3 engage the transports and 'open fire'.
¤Squadrons 9-13 remain with the station.

With only two squadrons of X-wings to defend against Taskforce Green, the uniformly-colored strike team was doing very well. One of the X-wings came within what felt like millimeters from Cassius, and a small shock of fear ran through him. “Geez,” he breathed out as he moved out of the way, acquiring a new target. “Stay sharp out there, guys. They’re trying to fly fancy.”
Some reinforcements in the form of Admiral Vruumond, who let him know that he could have covering fire for his squadrons if needed. “We’re holding our own out here for now, Admiral,” Cassius said through nearly gritted teeth, his hands gripping the controls. “The enemy is so split up right now they don’t know what to do with us. If we’re targeted by anything bigger, I’ll let you know. I appreciate the…” he paused for a moment as another X-wing whizzed by, “gesuture.”
“Blast it!” the female voice of Jade Nine came through the comms. “I got hit…” she muttered, sounding somewhat disheartened. “It’s alright Nine, head back to the carrier. First round’s on you tonight,” Cassius said in a light tone. Soon after, a few other pilots signaled that they were also down for the count. Not enough to be worried about – if anything, they were doing better than Cassius expected.
The Y-wing squadrons had been adequately protected, and they were reaching the station in no time. “Bombs away!” Mantis Leader exclaimed. The remaining bombers each unleashed a volley of proton bombs onto the station. If they hit, the shields would probably take massive damage. The bombers pulled up, looping up to charge for another pass. Their A-wing escorts kept close, dancing and flittering around them like insects protecting a queen.
“Keep this up and that shield will be down in no time,” Cassius called out to his team to reassure them.

Well that was unexpected. The arrival of the Royal-class ship breaking the atmosphere and opening fire caught them all by surprise. Even General Santiago. A hint of a smile was visible for but a second before it disappeared. Good strategy. In the war games it was slightly cheating, but he liked the instinct.
Santiago watched as many of his men 'fell'. Despite the smoke from his missles, the enemy forces were pressing in, one kilometre at a time. He pressed his finger to his ear, activating his commlink. ~Spotters, you've got the green light when it's clear.~
No sooner had that call come in that a dozen spotters moved from their locations in the trees and opened fire with stun bolts from their blaster rifles as they flanked the enemy teams.
Santiago held his ground. He didn't need to move inside just yet. The security forces on the ground at the base began their charge, running in two lines and opening fire upon the attackers and their support vehicles, yelling and screaming as they tried to intimidate their opponents with their voices in the smoke.
Objective: Capture the bridge Post: 4 (?) Location: Aboard Maia Class interceptors, cockpit (Fleet captained by Brigsby) Allies: [member="Than Balthor"] @Mythos Enemies: [member="Cassius Droma"] [member="Veiere Arenais"] [member="Abelain Narv'uk"] Team B
Well this is just unfortunate..
Veiere's X-Wing had begun firing on Natalie's own, though, little to her own knowledge, the shots were being entirely blocked by allied interceptors body blocking them, causing themselves to be eliminated. She was almost completely oblivious up until she saw the man swoop past gracefully, at which point she had saw his face. Rather than engage, she kept moving, clearly heading for the space station and was closely followed behind the transports, now shooting blindly at the any X-Wing now in her view.
While the King would be distracted by her allies, he could just easily ignore them. At best, they were average, only being able to keep up with the man, never being able to land a direct hit, and those lasers which did land barely even scratched the starfighters ([member="Eddak Manod"])
~Fleet actions~
Brigsby's eyes peered across the battlefield in awe at what the interceptor squadrons had resulted in doing, some had actually followed through with their orders in the assault, others had simply reduced themselves to taking cheap potshots at whoever was near them. An announcement needed to be made. He signaled for the communications officer to open communications with literally every ship under his command.
"All pilots, this is your Admiral speaking, I wo-.."
A thud rattled the command ship as X-Wings swooped past the bridge, Brigsby's face turning red with fury almost instanteneously
"Damage report!"
"Effective shielding has been reduced to 63%."
"All fighters circle back and engage the squadrons currently assaulting us!"
Another thud rattled the bridge, some individuals stumbling over. The channel was completely overridden as the face of a flustered looking officer had begun to be projected for all to see.
"Transport 1 has been eliminated. We are moving out of the combat area."
Brigsby's fist slammed onto a nearby colleague's table, causing it to rattle before moving swiftly to the back of the communications officer, speaking in a low voice as he approached.
"Tell the transports to assault the station head-on."
She nodded, quickly typing out messages and sometimes speaking.
There was a fascinating composition of both stillness and activity that seemed to permeate the entire fabric of space. On the one hand, if a person were to look outside, they might perceive only faint flickers of light as distant stars twinkled and burned with vibrant energy, managing to transmit their blaring brightness across thousands of light years. On the other hand, in the midst of a battle between said aforementioned stars, there was a flurry of activity, of brilliant blasts of laser fire seared across viewports, scorching the metallic plate that made up the hull of a warship; or, in this scenario, giving a decorative impression of such damage. Space was alive and filled with energy, and were it not for the sensory applications and machinery present aboard the warship, Abelain Narv'uk might not have been able to formulate a plan adequate enough to include so much information.
Thankfully, such equipment was present in quantities enough to be usable aboard the Nightshadow, and the Arue'tii quickly began to direct further orders to those around, attempting to dissuade the enemy from taking any advantages that might have been opened by recent events. It seemed as though the King had somehow lost at least some semblance of control over his forces; likely a communication error, or perhaps he was the target of a uniquely specified form of jamming that was preventing his comms from interacting with those of his fleet. Irregardless, it seemed evident to the chitinous creature that the plans of the battle must be enacted now or else they might lose momentum.
Reports began to come in of Maia Interceptors scoring kills and occasionally losing their own dogfights as they engaged with both the forces of the Station, and of those opponents who had decided to direct their transports to it. The Arue'tii observed as such transports continued to slink steadily closer to the orbital body, and wrapped a chitinous arm around his chin, as if though he were debating something internally. In truth, he was evaluating the priority of targets, and he quickly came to the conclusion that whilst the transports were the highest targets of the Interceptors, it would be a waste to direct their firepower as a fleet solely upon such small targets.
"What ship is that nearest the station?" "The Avant Guard? I believe it is one of the lesser Star Destroyer classes." "Splendid. That means it won't hold out long under fire, I'd imagine." "Perhaps." the Captain spoke, giving a slight shrug of his shoulders to emphasize his lack of knowledge on that particular class of ship.
"Direct the Paladin and the Rancor Frigates to open fire on that ship. Eliminate it, and then we'll focus fire on something else of their pitiful fleet."
The command was transmitted, and soon his eyes were greeted once more with the beautiful flourishes of laser fire being painted across the viewport.
Fleet Composition
(As per standard with Fleet Battles, I'm simply making up EHP numbers based upon the characteristics and relative abilities of vessels. That said, fighter squadrons have actually been calculated to a reasonable degree of realism. )
The Nightshadow - Peregrine Armed Freighter 400/400 EHP (Effective Health Points: 200 Shield, 200 Hull)
The Osprey - Rancor Assault Frigate 500/500 EHP (300 Shield, 200 Hull. Shield is one-directional)
The Imperator - Rancor Assault Frigate 500/500 EHP (300 Shield, 200 Hull. Shield is one-directional)
Actions
Paladin, Osprey, and Imperator are all firing on the Avant Guard.
Maia Interceptors are fighting station and enemy forces near the station, with priority on transports.
Kay sat in the quarters of her own ship, watching both the space and ground operations on multiple datapads set up on her desk. All of it was fascinating to watch. Her only lines of communication that were open were to the bridge of the orbital station and the command centre in the Thakosian base.
Both stations were taking hits, their shields depleating. It won't be long now until both were breached. Yet who would get to them first? Who could get past Santiago, the toughest General that she knew, and win that objective? There was a chance that it couldn't be won at all.
And then there was the orbital station. Kay had put in a surprise there for some in her ranks, one that could make them hesitate. Especially [member="Veiere Arenais"] . Einon was maintaining the bridge. Kay had found him a while ago after he had let himself be found. The two spoke for a very long time before he had accepted her apology and agreed to come back into her service. Though instead of being the Head of her Security, he chose to take a more militarized role. It was needed with the current state that the Galaxy was in.
With his arms folded across his chest, he watched as the strength of their shields began to weaken. "When we're breached, train your weapons on the door and open fire as soon as it opens. And don't forget to take cover."
Kei had to admit that he didn't know what was going on.
They'd been bickering for what felt like hours, in reality it was about half an hour. They'd been arguing, they couldn't agree on how to do it. Obviously they all knew how to do it, how to attack a bunker but they couldn't agree on how to do it. Mostly, he'd just stood and watched as they tried to forumlate some sort of scrap of a plan. Kei didn't have a clue what plan they had come up with but they needed something soon.
Someone needed to take charge. They could spend an entire half hour arguing and bickering but they needed to move soon otherwise they'd never get anything done. They needed to move otherwise they'd loose, they'd be beaten with ease and that just wasn't something Kei was looking to do. He didn't mind taking a loss but like most people he knew that he would of preferred a win, preferred to beat those who opposed them.
Team A, the offical name.
They needed to stop bickering. Kei was against the usage of troops, too much noise. It was easier if they travelled in smaller groups. He also knew if he voiced that concern then they'd end up arguing and complaining even longer and they'd never get anything done. There was a reason he preferred space, a reason he preferred controling fleets. There was less arguing in space, people just did things without issue.
"Look. We have to do something, so someone come up with an idea and let's move"
Darben boarded the speeder, and he readied to head off. However, he was hesitant still. Till he felt a hand on his shoulder from his partner on the back of his speeder."Darben, you got this. Don't you worry, okay?" He managed a grin upon his face, and with that assurance he put the speeder forward, headed for the target base. He and Mia sped away, hoping to find a flank on the base. From here he could hear the combat from Eddak's front. "Lot happening over there" he heard Mia murmur. Ahead Darben Skirae spotted their target, keeping to it. He didn't look back or around to see if Darlyn was following along.

Strategy: Move out and fight
"Okay forget about the air support. They are too busy with something else. Maybe playing Empire At War and fighting over virtual Tatooine, Dagobah or Zenith Prime."
The blonde decided to take charge after the whole discussion and asked the troops to roll out. The scouts had already reported that the military base was being attacked by a single enemy force, led by a certain [member="Eddak Manod"].
"I guess it's time for us to roll out, boys," she winked and ordered the troops to move. She hopped onto a hover bike and offered one to Kei. "We can sneak into the base while the troops engage the other team."
Huge roars of engines. The transports, tanks and vehicles rolled out at maximum speed. In the end, it kinda fitted into what Mariya had in mind earlier. The other team had engaged the base and they were now going to sneak behind to pounce from the rear. As the vehicles moved, the sounds of fighting were grew louder in the distance.
"Spotted the enemy."
"Let's send in our Hellstorm to greet those light tanks."
The Hellstorm roared and moved in towards the base where fighting was happening between two forces. The crew was happy to engage, firing off all sorts of non lethal ammunition at the best targets. The plasma cannon fired off simulated rounds at the light tanks while the missile launchers popped at the base. Other guns rattled at the infantry from both sides indiscriminately. The anti infantry AIT grinder rolled in to fire at both teams with its anti infantry weapons. The troopers hopped off the transports and joined in the battle, all for the sake of making a distraction.
"That's all I need..." the mercenary said and hopped off her bike, vanishing from view as she cloaked herself. The chaos was needed to distract everyone's attention. Her mission was to infiltrate the base and turn off the emitter. The cloak was not perfect, but no one was going to bother spotting her until she entered the base. She skipped into the trenches, in and out where "bodies" were to avoid fire.
The base door was locked, so she had to find some way to enter. A tunnel shaft meant by maintenance was good enough, so she squeezed herself in and began crawling.
"Alright Darben, Mia, according to what intel we've got there should be a vulnerable point up ahead. It's got minimal guards but a solid, solid door. Alas with our practice charges it's too thick to break through. So I have yet another brilliant plan!" Darlyn spoke over a com link to his team, having picked a speeder bike to travel alongside them with. In total it seemed there were the leaders, himself and [member="Darben Skirae"] included, and five or six troopers. The perfect strike force, not so big to draw attention yet large enough to cause some mayhem. And Darlyn, Minister of Justice, might as well add Mayhem to that title. "So when I give the signal, push forward into the base! Trust me, you'll know it when you see it!" Thankfully, [member="Eddak Manod"] and his troops were playing to the distraction game perfectly. Loud, Proud, and explosive.
Speaking of explosive.
Darlyn revved his speeder bike to full throttle, blasting off ahead of the others. Yes his safe practice charges couldn't break their way through a paper bag. But he didn't need em. He laughed loudly, barreling straight ahead at his target, that same side door he mentioned, counting the seconds in his head. Closer... Closer... Closer... At the last safe second he locked the steering and gas in place and leaped off the side of the bike, sending the vehicle cascading into the door with a violent, loud, obvious explosion. Almost certain, in his mind, to make a doorway in. And just under it, the excited laughter of Darlyn, as he picked himself up from the dirt he'd landed in, not exactly free of bruises or harm, but significantly less so than he could be. And, as his raised hand and (safely lowered) lightning towards the bewildered guard closest to him would show, pretty battle capable.
"And THAT'S what I think about your overly entrenched defenses Santiago you sly fox! OH I hoped that worked because it was not the nicest experience!"
Darlyn's brash move was both stupid, but brilliant. Santiago wasn't expecting it, knowing Darlyn to be more of the explosives kinda guy. There was still an explosion, but it was accompanied by the battering ram of a speederbike that buckled the door from it's frame. Soldiers ran towards it, once they were clear of the smoke, gathering the unconscious bodies of the few soldiers that were struck by it. Others started to filter through to the outside, firing their stun bolts towards Darlyn.
Alarms rang through the base. They had been breached.
Santiago narrowed his briefly, though internally he smiled. He folded his arms across his chest, little blaster holdout pistol in hand as he turned to face the door where the invading party were expected to arrive.

Admiral Vruumond received the order from Eddak to pull the ship out, and did just that. "Order the Gallant to retreat, take position back behind the fleet," Vruumond ordered, but the comms officer shook his head. "The Captain says they've taken too much damage from the enemy fighters.... making a full retreat would completely expose them." Then what does he plan to do?" Vruumond asked. "The Captain says he knows the Paladin is going after the Avant Guard, he's going to help him." Vruumond looked out the viewport to see Abelain and his ships moving in to intercept, "Hail the other cruiser, order them to take a supporting position beside the Paladin." The Comm officer turned around to Vruumond, curious, "What if Cassius needs assistance, Admiral?" The Captain of the ship took a step forward beside the Admiral, in a polite posture just as Vruumond had assumed, "are you going to take us between all of that weapons fire, Admiral?" Ailred took a breath for a moment and nodded to the Captain, "If we have to, we will," he said to the captain, before looking over to the Comm Officer, "If Cassius requests our assistance, we'll personally go to his aid. Now, send the cruiser in."
For Abelain, he would see a Cruiser form up on his left flank, with weakened shields as it started opening up on the Avant Guard. On his right flank, the Gallant took a position. It had simulated damage all over the ship, even some holographic fires for affect. It had no shields, and was defending itself with point defense. Eddak yelled after the dust settled; the Royal-class retreating. "Vruumond, get that ship out of here!" Eddak reached over to his escort trooper and pulled him close, "This is our chance, make for the trenmches!" Eddak was still yelling as blaster fire and slugs were still flying, explosions erupting. "No matter what, do not stop. You take those trenches or we fall here, the other tea-" Eddak crouched as new explosions spurred up. His light tanks started getting hit and and his people were being ambushed. "Feth - KEEP RUNNING, GO!" Eddak pulled out his side arm, a slugthrower pistol with rubber bullets. Another trooper came up to Eddak, starting to tell him the situation. "Eddak! We've got unknown artillery firing on the light tanks!" Eddak nodded, "Scatter the tanks, those are big guns firing, we can outrun them. Let them take the MLC's for a spin!" Eddak responded and the trooper turned to start comms with the tanks. Eddak patted on the back of the escort Trooper, "Come on, let's go!" Most of Eddaks troopers were running like they were retreating, straight to the trenches. Some had paused to fire at the ambushers, but the majority kept running. The Speeder Trucks moved up to provide covering fire, focusing their slugthrower machine guns on where the enemy fire was coming from. Eddak was charging into the fray with his sword up in the air, occasionally firing off shots from his sidearm. This was all the cover they were going to get, and soon enough Eddak and his men would be between everyone; the enemy team and the stations defenders, but he had the trenches. The troopers were dropping into the trenches as they took their new positions. Eddak jumped and slid on the ground into the trenches, smacking into the wall but staying well enough. Eddak sacrificed a lot of troopers for this, but he didn't expect the ambush, or the enemy team deciding to come at him before they tried for the station. It was the choice he made. "Keep sustained fire!" Eddak spoke up around him and over comms. "If you need ammunition, speak up! Use those grenades, I don't want them used inside the station, it's too tightly packed. Give'em hell, men!"
Meanwhile, the Speeder Trucks were still covering the charge from the ambushers, a couple moving up to drop off ammunition supplies to the trenches. The MLC's had scattered at speeder speed and most vanished from the battlefield. However, there was a small fireteam of the MLC's that went off from the charge under command of their squad leader. They took the route around the area to try and find the artillery fire from the enemy team. Many of their systems had been 'damaged' from the fray, so they couldn't radio their position, but they found the enemy artillery. They wouldn't be able to do damage, but their non-lethal rounds were area-of-effect explosives, so they provided kinetic damage - or, mostly, would provide enough force to make people fall over. The few MLC's dashed into the staging area containing a massive tank (Hellstorm) and they started firing, causing explosive chaos in the entire area. "Let's go! Let's give Eddak and the others enough time to push that base!" The squad leader knew they wouldn't be able to do a lot, and they'd be disabled or captured in the end.
With Eddak only having to deal mostly with the station defenses at this time, he started ordering a few squads to push the station, jumping from the trenches when there was enough covering fire. The Ultra Light Assault Vehicles weren't doing much as they were easy to destroy, instead they stuck by the Speeder Trucks and provided suppressive fire on the Ambushers and the Station defenders.
