I am not ic involved but as many writers know this is more likely to cause missunderstandings and confusion then anything else.

If the OS ran a plot with a civil war in their capital and I wrote a story where mantic was blowing things up and farting in the Emperors general direction it would not fit in. It would even be disrespectful against the hard working witers trying to make a plot.
Hence, I think this skirmish should have been planned and prepared better. Draco is a big boy and follows the the GR forum as much as most active GR members. He knows this is poor timing.

But as stated, I am not saying you cant do it, I am saying its poirly handled. One has the right to an oppinion.

Keep in mind, when I was first put up as Pub FO, I had to deal with the tail end of a messy invasion of Coruscant, then dealt with months of fighting against the OS. This is your time to fail or succeed. Either step up to the plate and show what the Republic can do, or don't. I don't care either way.

I am really confused why such a big deal is being made of this. This is exactly what Chaos should be about. The natural development of stories through IC actions, chaos, anarchy, war! This ain't Star Peace, it's Star Wars. People shouldn't be complaining about this, they should be ecstatic that they have the opportunity to be part of something bigger than themselves.

I am not involved in the skirmish IC. But I keep an eye out for activities that concern the GR. It is not as dramatic as you make uit sound, the GR will be what the mebers make of it. The thing is when what the members do is ignored by non-members who then just go forth with their own plots, like this one.

I am sure that if I am incompetent the member base will poke me about their displeasure, and if enough is stirred I will of course listen in.

(And to be clear, by members I mean writers who actively works IC and OOC to further the GR as a faction).

I wasn't around for any of the attacks and battles. Kay was always doing her own thing in Hutt Space. But just as characters can't be killed off without permission by the writer, I think that the same respect needs to be applied here. The plotline is internal.

And if there could be attacks anywhere and at any time...then why are there private threads? Or threads that are open but by invitation? It is out of respect for the writers involved and their stories.

No, because (as I have been trying to say for seom time), this skirmish does not make IC sense. the GR capital is under control of an ururper. There is no Gr to fight there, only Gen and her clone army. Those he will oppose though.

I'd like to posit that it makes perfect IC sense. In fact, it would be ludicrous for the One Sith not to attack when their long-time enemy is weakened and distracted. The Republic is still the Republic, and they have been at war with the One Sith for seven years IC. When there is an opening in your opponent's defenses, you don't give them a pass just because they're dealing with an in-house crisis. You exploit that opening.

Furthermore, I find this to be a really great move OOC on the OS/TU side of things. It is 700% in character for a group of Dark Side psychopaths and villains to take advantage of a distracted enemy to suckerpunch them, but OOC, they did so in a way which has no consequences. They didn't cold-cock you with invasions. They didn't zerg the territory around you with speed dominions. All they did was start a skirmish.

I'd say this was damn nice of them, pursuing an IC story that it wouldn't make the slightest amount of sense not to do, but doing so in a considerate OOC manner.

So, GR is going to sacrifice the entire capital and simply let Sith crush Gen and her clone army (and a bunch of civilians as collateral). And Jedi are siding with GR on this one. I told you it will be interesting!

Edit: I don't think mantic is saying that it can't happen, it's that the setting is not being represented as well as it should be, plot things are happening, so, attackers waltzing into the capitol world are not just gonna find the GR doing GR things and being distracted, they're gonna find Gen's Martial Law group, fully armed and prepped for war. The capitol is going to be STRONGER not weaker when they get there. They're going to see you coming because they're paranoid and crazy already and on high alert baying for a fight.

I'm up to fight anyone, if they wanna fight the Jedi Equivalent of a Sith Alchemist.

I mean, its one thing to push a skirmish because it makes IC sense, but another to be pompous jerks and generally just be mean OOC.

Cool, the story makes sense.

But some of you are just being really rude. It's still the holidays, people are busy. Have some compassion. Not saying don't do the skirmish, but just talk to people instead of giving them the finger and telling them 'dese the rules, suck it.'
