The Padawan sat quietly, sipping her tea as she always did, watching the comings and goings of others from the patio of a restaurant that perhaps one day, she could retire from public life once again and purchase. Maybe. But then again, public life seems to call her out from hiding and bring her right into the thick of things. Trouble always found her, without her even being the cause of it outside of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Bakura was recent proof of that.

It was rather odd that powerful individuals or those in power always seemed to cross her path. Some of those people were terrifying, including the man that killed her husband and tarnished their reputations. But that was over five years ago. Such an increment of time might be small for some, but for Kay it was almost a lifetime. Constantly moving about from planet to planet with no work or goal in life, no family or friends can make time crawl to an almost standstill.

As she sipped her tea once more, she thought she caught a glimpse of a familiar face. Some other passerbys were getting in the way, so Kay got to her feet and looked. Almost instantly she spotted who can only be her smuggler friend and partner in trouble. But was it really him? He looked a bit older and with some fine lines appearing on his face. Could they be laugh lines? The Padawan waved one of her hands frantically to catch his attention as she called out to him, "HAWK!!"

Hawk had spent the morning dropping medical supplies for survivors of the 6.0 earthquake that Bakura had a week ago. The planet was still experiencing aftershocks. He decided to go find some place eat. Thankfully this part of the city didn't have too much damage.

He cocks his head a little, He could have sworn he heard someone calling his name. He turns and spots her. He squints his eyes a little. It was Kay. A lopsided smile spreads across his face as he walks over to her.

"Hi Kay." He gives her a quick hug and kisses her cheek. "It been so long since I saw her you last. How are you doing?"

It was him! By the Force, how lucky could she be? She hugged him tightly and smiled as he kissed her cheek. She held him at arm's length and took a good look at him. "I am doing better, thank you. How about yourself? I must say that you look very well." She gave him another quick hug and gestured to her table with a grin. "Care to join me for some tea?"

The one constant and comfort for Kay all these years had been her tea. And that should be one of the things that Hawk should remember about her. For the moment, she only wanted to focus on the happy memories that she had. No need to delve into the bad ones, especially in public.

"You look good." He says lying a little. The untimely death of Shaw still lingered in Kay's eyes. It sadden him a little to see Kay was still haunted by her past.

He takes a seat at her table. "You and your tea. You need to join..TDA. It the first step to getting better." He says teasing her. (Tea Drinker Anonymous).

She smirked and then grinned, followed by a rather large slurp of her tea. "TDA? Nah, I'm good. Did you know that I'm down to 3 or 4 cups a day now?"

Kay winked and offered him a cup. It felt so good to see him and in such good spirits too. The last time she saw him was shortly after Shaw's funeral. "So what have you been up to?"

[member="Lady Kay"]

Hawk laughs lightly. "Only 3 or 4 cups a day. Wow that is good." He take a sip of tea. He makes a face. He added a 4 cubes of sugar. He liked it sweet: "Since I saw you last I found out a had a daughter. Her name is Maddie. She is 5 years old." He pulls out his wallet to show her a holo. "Her mother Cynna is too busy saving the universe so she lives with me. Cynna and I never married. We were just a fling. I don't find out about Maddie until she was 2."

She smirked at how much sugar he put into it. Wow. He must get a big rush from that. As he pulled out the picture and heard his story, she smiled a little. "Congrats. Although she was a surprise for you, I bet that it was a pleasant one. She has your eyes, that's for sure."

Kay sipped her tea. She didn't know where her adopted children, Bradshaw and Rae-Anna were. She lost track of them after Shaw died. Everyone handles grief in their own way. "So if her mother is out saving the universe, what is it that you do? Still smuggling?"

[member="Lady Kay"]

"Thanks. She such a sweetie. I love her so much." He takes a sip of his tea. It was just right. "No. I am not smuggler. I haven't been so awhile. I'm..Jedi Knight." He pauses for her to burst laughing like everyone else does who knew him back than. "Better hours and more stable. My mom watched Maddie when I'm on a mission."

Back in the day, Kay probably would have laughed at that, for such a thing for Hawk seemed highly improbable. But not right now. She just sat in the chair and stared at nothing in particular. It had been over 7 years since she had come across another Jedi, let alone one of her bestest friends that even if she hadn't of been exiled, now outranks her. She wasn't quite sure how to handle it. At first. But upon further reflection she relaxed and had a sip of her tea. This was Hawk. He wasn't going to turn his back on her or point out her flaws and mistakes. Nor would he fault her for what had happened to them all on that horrible night.

"Wow. I never would've thought that you'd give up on smuggling. But good for you. Do you think that you could help me though, on occasion with rescuing slaves and other such things? I could use someone with your skills."

He should have known better that Kay wouldn't laugh at him. She was always very sensitive to other people feelings. "I still do some smuggling. I just do it for the Silver Jedi. I'm not part of the Jedi Order anymore, I couldn't do the monk thing. I like women too much."

He takes a sip of tea. "It needs a little whiskey" he mutters about the tea. He pushes the cup away from him. "Yeah I can help you still. Maybe even talk you into joining the Silver Jedi Order. They could used a healer like you." He didn't want to mention it to Kay about his own abilities as a seer.

She had to laugh at his mention of not wanting to be a monk and liking women too much. That was very much true. Kay smirked at his critique on the tea after he had just put in a load of sugar. And then he mentioned the SJO.

"I've heard of them, or rather I have read about them. I'm the new COO of ArmaTech and the Silver Jedi are one of our biggest clients. I know what you're thinking, I shouldn't be working for a weapons company when I'm a Healer, but it's a really good company. They take care of all of their workers really well and I'm going to help ensure that there are great hospitals and schools." She didn't mention the fact that she wasn't sure if she'd be comfortable around other Jedi. But Hawk was different. He was Hawk.

"Really..well I hope this means we get a discount now." He says with a smirks. "Kay, I'm not your conscience or your master, I'm not judging you. You the one that has to live with the consequences of your actions."

"What being you to Bakura?" He asks.

The SJO already got a good discount, but of course she could see what she could do for him. As he mentioned her having to live with the consequences of her actions, she just traced her cup with her finger. She knew all about that and hadn't blamed others for her choices.

After he changed the subject she looked up at him. "I crash landed here a little bit ago. Ended up being in the middle of a conflict with some soldiers, but I managed to escape. Now I've come back to see if anyone had noticed as it happened way out in a valley. What about you?"

[member="Lady Kay"]

"I just delivered medical supplies for earthquake relief." He says just as the ground under their feet trembles with another aftershock. "You got lucky being in the valley when it struck." He doubts anyone noticed because of the natural disaster. "Do you need to hitch a ride? I can drop you off where ever you want."

Kay had another sip of her tea. She didn't know about the earthquake until after she got back. Thankfully it hid the incident and she had hoped that the incident wasn't the cause of the earthquake.

"No thanks. I have my own ship and crew. One of the perks of being a COO. I take it you have to leave?"

[member="Lady Kay"]

"No. I don't have to leave right away. The Silver allows us freedom to do what needs to be done. I'm going to stick around and help with dig out survivors of the big one." Being a seer was a blessing and curse, Hawk had a vision of a huge earthquake that would destroy almost the entire city. The trouble was he didn't know when it would hit.

He had the feeling it would be soon. He had warned city officials but they were too busy dealing with the current situation to pay attention. They reassure Hawk that the city would be fine. It wasn't on any fault line.

Kay raised a brow. "The big one? The quakes have been moderate at best, so I've heard." She glanced around at the surrounding mountains, but didn't see any smoke. "Are one of these mountains a volcano? Sometimes when they are stirring awake, they cause quakes before they irrupt." Hawk was still the noble person that she remembered him being. It was nice to see and she was glad that he decided to stick around for a bit longer, for it was good to have a friend again, one that she knew would never betray her.

[member="Lady Kay"]

"No, trust me those mountains are not full of lava. I'm more concern with the rockslides it will causes." He knew he could trust Kay with his secret. It just was the right time or place.

"KAY! Under the table now." He says as he sensed the coming quake. It was the big one. He dives under the table as it strikes. The ground rumbling, shaking and moving. It felt like they were on the ocean.

Kay raised a brow as he seemed to know more about the area than he should. Maybe he did a bunch of research. Or maybe....

Her train of thought was disrupted as Hawk warned her to get under the table. She moved quickly under it once the ground started swaying and shaking. It was disorienting as her mind tried to grasp the fact that the ground wasn't stable. She held onto the only solid thing there
was...her friend Hawk. The sounds were immense, the ground grumbled sounding like thunder underneath them, citizens were screaming and they could gear buildings nearby crumbling. Time seemed to slow to a crawl....

....And then it was over. There was silence as everyone tried to comprehend what had just happened. Kay let go of Hawk and crawled out from under the table and saw the disaster before then. It just took her breath away.

[member="Lady Kay"]

Hawk holds Kay in his arms as the quake continued. It was just like his vision. Frak! He thinks to himself as he releases Kay once the ground stop shaking

He stood and surveyed the area.. Many people were going to dying around them. Some people crushed in the nearby stores. "Time to get to work. Let's head to the school. These people are already dying. We can atleast save the kids before the avalanche starts. The school is this way." He takes Kay arm and pulls her toward the roads going against a sea of people who were trying to leave the city.
