The Limit
- EXITED CHAPTER TWO, ENTERING CHAPTER ONE -
Whisper pulled on the controls of his fighter, sending it upward as he continued dodging incoming fire. It wouldn't be long until he'd form back up with the others, but at the moment it had seemed he picked up a bogey on his tail. Damn pests, all of them. But like any pest, the best way to deal with this one would be to stamp it into the ground.
He quickly banked right, cutting power to one of his engines as he began his rather unconventional maneuver. Whisper had always been one of the more "by the book" types when it came to interacting with his squadron. Often times, he suspected it got on their nerves. But the Empire wasn't anything without protocol, and he had the Empire in his blood. Nevertheless, protocol often flew out the window once one entered a dogfight. That's when more unconventional tactics came into play. The sort of tactics that Whisper had used back in his racing days, dodging Tusken blasterfire while racing against scum that only knew how to play dirty.
Cutting the engine's power caused his TIE to turn with incredible speed, putting him in line with the enemy fighter just in time to let a few shots fly at the cockpit. The viewing port quickly lit up in sparks and smoke, sending the craft crashing into the duracrete wall of a nearby building. With the bogey dealt with, Whisper returned to the objective at hand, igniting the second engine and shooting forth toward the rest of Shadow Squadron.
"Shadow Squadron, tighten formation,"
<<On your six, Shadow Leader.>>
He could see the X-Wings ahead, some of which had already begun engaging Shadow Squadron. Whisper didn't recognize the fighters, but their flight style matched reports he had read...
Revenant Squadron.
<<Looks like things just got interesting. Watch yourselves.>>
Interesting indeed...
