Her brain was coming to a halt as the gears ground together -- if her brain had been a machine, smoke would have exited out her ears as she stared back and forth as the chaos of the subject matter had ensued. Looking to Zaiya, then to Aris, back to Aiden, and then to Roman -- Anneliese scratched the back of her head and gave a coy smile, her internal voice screaming at her.

// " Be cool Annie -- it was your suggestion to single out his height -- come'on -- think of something big, make it seem like you followed along with every-bit of that. Oh chit -- everyone's staring at me... uh... er... chit, chit, chit, chit.... Ok! Don't freak out, freak in Annie. You've got this!" //

Bringing her hand up towards her mouth, her eyes closing temporarily, and clearing her throat she spoke -- doing her best to keep her poise. "I won't lie ...." Anneliese taking a dramatic pause as her eyes opened, and looked off towards the side. "I may have sorta gotten lost and drifted in and out of thought for a moment while we all talked." A shy and flustered chuckle escaping her lips. "But all I can say in rebuttal to everything -- is this... Aris, have you considered maybe not growing?" Her shoulders shrugging upwards just slightly as a self-delighted smirk curled up the sides of her lips.

Carlo mulled over the others' words, struggling to keep a straight face, though his composure held—for now. "Hm, aye, that be true," he said, his tone laced with amusement. A light smirk crept onto his pale features as he tapped the fork in his metal hand lightly against the desk, the gesture deliberate, adding to the theatrics.

"I be willin' to share the sweet spoils," he continued, voice filled with playful gravitas, "but it'll require one last job from the crew. Succeed, and ye can take as much of the spoils as yer heart desires."

With that, Carlo poured himself another cup of tea, lifting it to his lips and savouring the moment, his eyes twinkling with mischief as he enjoyed the refreshing taste.

Diffuse, versus escalation as Valor had chosen. You are correct that my intervention was unnecessary technically. But at the same time, the spirit of the lesson isn't to hurl insults at your peers because you want to. In that same vein, remember that you are Jedi. Apologizing is good when you do something wrong, but don't forget your position. In a tense situation where violence could erupt, being meek and overly apologetic can open up the avenue to danger. Right now that was a good choice, but don't forget that there's no one correct answer.

How could he be correct when there was no correct answer?

Roten crossed his arms, letting out a sigh. This old guy was making no sense, at least in regards to whatever the hell was happening. Wasn't it counter-intuitive to say he did a good job then point out how it was flawed and ineffective anyways? The Bursantian had no clue what sort of behavior that was supposed to reinforce. It all seemed like word vomit to him. Not to mention that Valor was still pretty clearly following the directions of the exercise, enjoyment or otherwise.

But debate seemed like kicking a dead bantha in this case.

"Yes, sir," the Bursantian answered, his tone deflating slightly.

Jedi were confusing.

"What are the teams again?"

"I too have gotten lost my friend." Aiden declared, looking around at the group of his fellow Padawans and friends. The Jedi himself truth be told he was still waiting for the cookies that have....yet to arrive. While the jerky was indeed helping, it wasn't hitting that spot yet.

"I say we turn from speaking on our good friend's height. And we focus on the true problem at hand. There is a thief, and essentially a liar amongst us......." Aiden stood up. "In this very room....." The Paddawan declared his finger tapping on the table with each word said about the being in the room.

"Firstly, we were lied to about there being cookies here, and if there were...they have been stolen." Probably not the most smoothest way to find something, however Aiden had a sweet tooth and he was determined to find them.

And if they never existed at all, then today was indeed a sad day.

The conversation had spiraled into confusion, and Zaiya couldn't help but feel her emotions ripple in sync. A pulsing wave of grey flickered over her skin, edged with amused light blues. The whole situation was becoming too entertaining to keep a straight face. So much for maintaining her Jedi composure -- Zaiya let out a small, uncontrollable giggle-snort before slapping her hands over her mouth, her iridescent opal-blue eyes wide in surprise. A soft blush of pink spread across her mottled spots.

Has Aris actually considered not growing? The thought made her chuckle internally. She wasn't sure how that was even possible, and Aiden's contribution only made things worse.

"I don't think anyone can just decide how tall or short they're going to be," Zaiya chimed in with a playful sigh, shaking her head dramatically. She had tried -- tried -- to win the height competition with Aris over the last two years, but it was a hopeless cause.

"If I could, believe me, I would've done it by now," she muttered, struggling to keep a serious expression but already feeling it slip away.

Then, mischief sparked in her eyes, and a grin tugged at her lips. "But... Aiden does have a point." She turned to Anneliese, her expression now entirely playful. "Where are these cookies?"

The muffled laughter behind her hands faded as she dropped them, fully leaning into the fun. This lesson might have its challenges, but that didn't mean they couldn't enjoy the little moments too.

Roman leaned back in his chair, a bemused smile curling at the corners of his mouth as he watched the playful chaos unfold around him. The banter between all of them was both amusing and distracting, and he appreciated the light-heartedness that filled the room.

As the commotion continued, he leaned in closer to Aiden, lowering his voice to an audible whisper. "Psst, Aiden," he began, his eyes darting mischievously toward Aris, who was listening intently, clearly enamored with the height debate. "I've got a feeling Aris might be the culprit behind our missing cookies. I overheard him talking about some special treats that could make you taller. The way he was eyeing the rest of us, I think he's hogging them all for himself."

Roman chuckled softly, a glint of mischief in his blue eyes. The very idea that Aris could be hoarding magical cookies that promised a surge in height was both hilarious and plausible enough to spark an insane scheme among the Padawans. "If they really exist," he added, glancing back at Zaiya, who was now animatedly debating the feasibility of Aris's alleged height aspirations. "We should definitely launch a rescue mission. After all, height is just an illusion, but cookies... cookies are a reality we can fight for." he added, perpetually stirring the pot.

You’ll find it’s not just myself and Lady Sazo who are having these thoughts.” Katherine let the words hang in the air, taking a moment to sip at her tea. “A number of the crewmates have been murmuring, but we’re the only ones with the stones to speak up.

"but it'll require one last job from the crew. Succeed, and ye can take as much of the spoils as yer heart desires."

The redhead raised an eyebrow, turning her eyes to look at Sazo. She held the other woman’s gaze, as if the two were communicating silently. Katherine gave a small nod, before returning her attention to Carlo.

Very well,” she began, placing her cup and saucer on the table, before finally crossing her arms.. “What exactly does this job entail?

The redhead raised an eyebrow, turning her eyes to look at Sazo. She held the other woman's gaze, as if the two were communicating silently. Katherine gave a small nod, before returning her attention to Carlo.

Sazo tilted her head in agreement.

"Aye", she said slowly, locking eyes with Carlo. "Lady Katherine has the right of it. It'll need to be a big job to make the crew whole. So what is this job entail, cap'm? Rewarding Exciting? Dangerous? We laugh in the face of danger!"

Sazo threw her head back to laugh uproariously for comedic effect, badly startling a group of Padawans nearby.

Aris blinked slowly as he looked to the others. Cookies, now? He canted his head to the side before looking to Zaiya. He was being blamed for the cookies? Should he go along with it or..? He smirked after a moment, looking right to Roman. "As the biggest one here by far, it's only fitting I have the most cookies, no? It would take at least eight to count as one for me. Is it even fair otherwise?"

A few of them seemed affronted at the concept of general etiquette exercises, but the majority made an honest effort.

While the students broke into groups, Cora resumed grading papers at her desk. A pair of matronly reading spectacles materialized on the bridge of her nose.

"I can do uncooperative," he muttered.

"You will play the politician, Knight Vyres."

There was a distinct chill in her tone, entirely unamused by his presence in the classroom.

Cookies? When the chit did cookies get brought up into the conversation. Looking back and forth at all her classmates, her hands came up towards her hair as she began to braid strands of her unruly curls into the intricate weave. Her brain hamster wheeling at trying to piece it all together.

Aiden wanted cookies. Somebody ate those cookies — or they never existed in the first place. If Aris ate those cookies… there would be evidence.

She knew what had to be done. Clearing her throat, she interjected her thoughts in the conversation. “I have heightened sense of smell… my species that is… if Aris ate the cookies, I’ll know… if not, then it’s someone else.” Looking to Aris, she spoke up again. “Let me smell your breath.” Well if that wasn’t the most awkward damn thing she’s ever asked someone… good ol Annie, leave it to her to come up with some unique solution.

This was the strangest lesson he had ever had in his life. Aiden strummed his fingers along the table for a few moments and then finally spoke.

"Does someone.....want to smell my breath?"
Aiden asked curiously, not really knowing what to do at this point. However, his instincts told him to keep his mouth shut, but since when did Aiden ever do that?

Zaiya tried her best to stifle the giggle bubbling up in her throat. She pressed her lips together tightly, but there was no hiding the way waves of mischievous cyan and light blue danced across her mottled spots and stripes. Her cheeks and forehead practically glowed with her amusement.

It wasn't the first time she'd teased Aris about his strict diet. She loved tempting him to indulge a little, especially when they shared snacks together. But seeing him be the subject of a joke -- and actually play along -- was rare. Usually, Aris was so serious. Now, here he was, quipping about how it was only fair that he ate eight cookies due to his height. It sent a new wave of giddiness through her. She didn't think she'd ever seen him eat that many cookies at once.

Though, hot cocoa was a different story. Aris could drink that endlessly, especially if it was made by his mother. He'd mentioned how good it was, and she could practically taste the warmth and sweetness just hearing him talk about it.

Everything was all in good fun -- until Anneliese made the strangest suggestion Zaiya had ever heard. Heightening her sense of smell with the Force? Sure, that made sense. But wanting to smell Aris's breath?

Zaiya froze, her rosy-golden skin shifting into a kaleidoscope of confusion, alarm, and outright bewilderment. The colors rippled across her skin so quickly that it was like her emotions had a mind of their own. Her stomach twisted at the thought, an instinctive wave of rejection rising up inside her.

"I -- " she began, but Aiden beat her to it, jumping in with his own joke about whether someone wanted to smell his breath too. Zaiya blinked rapidly, her brain scrambling to catch up with how weird this conversation had become.

"I don't think there's any need to smell anyone's breath," she finally managed, trying to sound as calm as possible, though she could feel the heat creeping up her neck, completely unaware of the slight lavender tinge that colored her skin. The last thing she wanted was anyone getting that close to Aris's face -- not that she was going to admit why that made her so uncomfortable.

"I can confirm he didn't eat any cookies," Zaiya added quickly, glancing at Aris and then back to the others. She paused for a moment, her eyes narrowing with playful suspicion. "If anything, wasn't it Aiden who mentioned the cookies in the first place?"

As laughter erupted in the classroom, Roman curiously looked around at the group, a wide grin spreading across his face. He watched in disbelief as Anneliese made the hilarious suggestion to smell Aris's breath, and Aiden, never one to pass up an opportunity for a bit of levity, actually entertained the idea. "What?" Roman chuckled, shaking his head incredulously. "What has this class turned into?" he thought.

He raised an eyebrow, testing the air with his hand as though he could somehow confirm his own breath was acceptable. Just in case, he thought to himself, recalling the half-ration of dried fruit he'd munched this morning. Would it be a good idea to gauge the state of his own breath? He snorted lightly, rolling his eyes at the absurdity of the situation--this was the strangest lesson he had ever attended.

But what caught his attention next was the changing palette of Zaiya's skin, a riot of colors flashing across her cheeks and forehead as she grappling with a mix of confusion and alarm. Roman couldn't help but notice how her eyes darted, not just between the two breath-related jokesters, but also towards Aris.

"Is it good etiquette to smell someone else's breath?" he teased, smirking as he fixed his gaze back on Aiden. Something felt off about the eager Padawan, who had initiated this whole bizarre turn of events. Suspicion clawed at Roman. "You don't happen to have a stash of cookies hidden away somewhere, do you? I mean, your talk of breath sounds dangerously close to misdirection. Just how many cookies did you devour before class started?"
Was this all an elaborate scheme by Aiden to hoard the snacks for himself? He felt a twinge of dread in his stomach, grumbling as it reminded him just how long they had been puzzling over breath-sniffing rather than practicing their etiquette skills. The more he thought about the cookies Aiden had mentioned earlier, the more Roman's resolve solidified. He could almost taste them--sweet, sugary morsels melting on his tongue. He would need sustenance sooner rather than later if he was going to keep up with these antics.

With a playful poke, Roman nudged Anneliese, brow raised. "Hey, Anneliese, you wouldn't happen to have any leftover dried meat, would you? You know, just in case this class goes any further off the rails." he teased. He leaned back in his chair, adopting a dramatically serious expression as he stared Aiden down, waiting for his confession.

They were absolutely flying off the rails now. Aris blinked, bewildered again as he looked about the group with him. Then, he laughed. He full on laughed, shaking his head as he leaned comfortably back in his seat. He had no idea where this was going anymore, but.. It was fun. A lot of fun. His smile softened some as he looked to Zaiya, though. It made her uncomfortable?

Something he noted, but certainly wasn't about to bring up.

"Okay maybe a soft reset? I'm lost."

"If anything, wasn't it Aiden who mentioned the cookies in the first place?"

"How dare you......" Aiden said in mock disgust. "Why would you accuse one such as I, when everyone knows the real culprit is the extremely short instructor." The Padawan finished with a small laugh, as he gave a quick glance over to Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania and flashed an innocent smile.
"You don't happen to have a stash of cookies hidden away somewhere, do you? I mean, your talk of breath sounds dangerously close to misdirection. Just how many cookies did you devour before class started?"

"Well, admittedly I did stop at the cafeteria before coming this way. But that was only a few cookies though." The Jedi said in jest as he truthfully did not stop in the cafeteria.

"Okay maybe a soft reset? I'm lost."

"Well, if I can bring things up to speed..." Aiden said as he glanced around the room. "I want cookies, like yesterday." "Can someone just please say if there are cookies here...." The Padawan spoke almost exhausted.

Annie listened as everyone seemed to erupt into absolute chaos — it seems her initial assessment of mixing Padawans together was usual was a dangerous and highly combustible mixture — feth wasn’t it?… and we were supposed to learn etiquette… oh boy.

Aris suggested a hard reset. Roman was suggesting Aiden had eaten the cookies and forgot — possible — the boy had an unmatched appetite, have you seen him during meal time? Watch your fingers.

Zaiya — she was changing colors faster than a rave party, chit — if Annie had epilepsy she would have seized by now being seated next to her little glow-stick… mental note she said internally, test theory about Zaiyas capabilities and being light up in the dark.

Her eyes narrowing as Aiden spoke once again, wondering if Zaiya had wanted to actually smell breath, he rose her hand gently, noting to Aris then back to Zaiya. “Agreed — hard reset… but first things first — Zaiya, I wasn’t going to smell his breath without permission, it was clearly in the pursuit in the pursuit of justice as the orders leading hound… but clearly, I overstepped. Next time, since it may have bothered you, I’ll leave that to you should the situation arise.”

Oh, no, no, no.
Things had escalated fast, and now all eyes were on Zaiya.

Me?! Why me? Both Aiden and Anneliese had just pointed out her reaction to the absurd suggestion of smelling Aris's breath -- and that only made everything worse.

Mortified, a bright pink blush spread across her skin, mottled spots shimmering with the soft silvery glow of her bioluminescence, which -- of course -- made her stand out even more. Heat flooded her cheeks as she stood there, her mouth hanging open before she snapped it shut, too embarrassed to even glance at Aris.

She blinked rapidly, trying to think of something, anything, reasonable to say. This was the perfect time to show Jedi calmness and grace under pressure, right? Unfortunately, it wasn't working in her favor at all.

"That's not... I mean..." Zaiya stammered, her voice faltering. She sucked in a deep breath, squaring her shoulders, desperately chanting to herself, Calm, calm, calm.

"The point of the exercise," she said, trying to regain control, "is maintaining calm and diplomacy with proper etiquette. I just meant that um, smelling someone's breath... might not be considered... proper." Her voice trailed off, and she cringed inwardly.

There was no hiding the fact that she'd flared up like a Life Day tree just moments ago.

"Maybe we should try again, but... focus on one person being the mediator for two others? You know, if they're having trouble finding a compromise?" Zaiya suggested, her words coming out faster now, trying to shift the focus off herself. She glanced around at the group, hoping -- praying -- someone would jump in and take over.

"Or... does anyone else have a better idea?" she added quickly, her skin still pulsing faintly with that traitorous blush of pink and silver.

Padawan Roman observed the chaos around him like someone watching a lively holo-drama unfold -- full of emotion, a bit absurd, and entirely relatable. Aris's suggestion for a hard reset resonated with him; it was clear that the Padawans were spiraling into an etiquette disaster zone. However, as Annie casually mentioned that Zaiya seemed bothered by the breath-smelling suggestion, a loud gasp escaped Roman's lips.

"Oh chit..." he blurted out, trying to ease the tension in the air. He watched Zaiya's skin pulse through a rainbow of colors, and his heart went out to her. It was hard to remain visibly cool, the balloon of embarrassment was about to pop.

"Alright, everyone." Roman announced, adopting his best authoritative tone, despite the underlying playfulness in his demeanor. "Lets reset and pivot back to our task? We're not here to judge breath--or anyone's colorful reactions." He shot Zaiya a reassuring smile, hoping to ground her flaring emotions with his casual gaze.

"Let's break into two groups for our conflict resolution simulation. I propose Aris as our mediator--he seems like a good impartial judge" Roman gestured towards Aris, who had been quietly observing, hoping he wouldn't just take his friend, Zaiya's side.

"Aiden and I can team up on one side," he continued, pointing to Annie on the other scorecard, "while Zaiya and Annie take the other. This way, we can practice resolving our fictional conflicts under Aris's wise guidance, and hopefully avoid any breath-related dilemmas in the process."

Roman turned to Aris, pawning the real work of figuring out the scenario to the level headed giant, "How about it Aris? What are we arguing?"

Placing the cup of tea back onto the desk, Carlo leaned forward, his fingers interlocking as the mischievous spark in his eyes simmered into something more serious. It was all a carefully crafted façade, a ruse to embody the role of a scheming pirate captain, a persona that aligned all too well with his noble upbringing. Slipping into the character came naturally, his cold, calculating demeanor now serving the theatrical moment.

"Ah, mes amis," he began, the hint of his original accent creeping through despite his best efforts to mask it, "dangerous, perhaps, but only if you choose poorly." He cleared his throat slightly, fighting the urge to let his natural dialect take over entirely, as he didn't want to confuse the others with any peculiar phrases or unfamiliar words.

With a soft click of his metallic fingers and a sleight-of-hand trick, a small pouch appeared in his palm—filled with itching powder. "The task, should ye be brave enough to accept it, is simple: sprinkle this here itching powder on a knight of your choosing."

He paused, eyes gleaming with amusement as he considered the risk. Weighing it against the harmless fun, he smirked, concluding the scheme with an almost dismissive air. "After all, what's a little detention compared to a good laugh?"
