Commenor

As always, the members of the Jedi Order are free to do as they will. If some join in the Invasion, that is up to them. If some don't that is also up to them. My dialogues with Master Watts and other members of the Order, and the Military, left me with a confidence that this is the best course of action. As I had mentioned previously, I had reached out to Ayden behind the scenes to see if a peaceful, diplomatic agreement could be reached regarding Corellia, but the response was negative. In the context of IC interactions, yes, the Sith is the primary threat, but the Republic will not ignore worlds that are blatantly dominated by criminal, shadow organizations, cartels, or anything in between.

Viera, Invasions are only between the defending faction and the offensive faction.
In this context, the threads would only involve the Republic/the Jedi Order and the Syndicate.

My question is, is such a large force needed for criminals? Pretty sure the Republic can handle this without the Jedi :3, but I have to discuss with my master to see if she'll be draging me along.

The Syndicate holds the planets and their respective resources under its control. As such, the faction has access to a large quantity of arms and vessels that could possibly repel of Republic intervention if it is not launched properly. Better prepared for the storm than face being blown away.

There are other ways to involve one self then direct military intervention. You just have to be creative.

OOCly, this is great and an invasion is totally allowed. Just wanted to say that as an Admin so that people don't question the legality of this idea. This is our first announced Invasion, so I'm sure there will be a lot of questions, and the rules aren't perfect - we're still new and learning, so please be patient if we don't have an answer for a question right away.

ICly, if Teferi had been asked, this is what he'd have to say.

"Using force instead of speech, danger this brings to the people of Commenor. Respect all life, the Jedi do. Use our powers to protect and defend, never for attack, the Jedi do.

Condone this course of action by the General of the Republic, this Jedi does not. A precedent for the path of the Dark Side, it sets."

the Syndicate was indeed a criminal organization, at least in the context of its treatment of denizens, and the worlds were in dire need of liberation.
The Syndicate is not an overt organization. We are not some sort of Empire knock-off. The average citizen wouldn't know a thing about The Syndicate. These are gross assumptions on your part concerning our faction and how we do things.

Ayden, as far as OOC goes, the Invasion's going to happen. We're just hammering out semantics at this point. Tef, we're welcome to try diplomacy to sway the Syndicate into relinquishing control over their worlds and allowing them to be free, we don't have to fire a single sot unless fired upon. An Invasion can be more than just storming the capital. If it'd work better with the Grandmaster that way, then let us try speech first. If that fails, bring in the Task Force, fair enough?

Join you, I will, to the Capital City of Commenor to speak with the leadership of the Syndicate.

Very well, then we have our agenda. We will meet with he leadership of the Syndicate and initial peaceful negotiations for the liberation of their worlds. If all goes well, not a single shot will be fired.

*Frowns.* While I am sure the Supreme Commander has a good reason to charge off after speculations about criminals and mercenaries, I find this very suspicious. The Republic Senate will not be satisfied with your word, General, however reliable your reputation. We will request proofs of such a threat, and the need for a military intervention before funds are voted for this campaign. As it is, the Republic is in a fragile state, and we should not push ourselves in order to invade territory we may not be able to hold.
