Crashing and Burning (Darlyn Excron; Cassius Droma)

Eyes slightly squinting, Cassius crossed his arms, his jawline hardening. There was no reason for him to speak at the moment, so he elected to merely observe. If Ms. Lerness were to look at the young Jedi, she would possibly consider him some sort of enforcer, with the weapons on his thigh and hip. He could feel the slightly mental pushes Darlyn was making. It probably wasn’t necessary – his story was sound, but paired with the mind trick, the woman would no doubt believe it.

His eyebrow rose as the woman mentioned a family coming this afternoon to come see the young girl, and he stole a glance at the blonde. Perhaps her luck was changing… or perhaps, the cycle was starting all over again. Briefly, he wondered what lied in the future for her. The spark of the Force was in her… it would be foolish of Cassius to leave this girl here, in an orphanage, her potential untapped.

There was the Force Praxeum that was here. She could start to hone her skills in the Force there, if she wanted. It would also be a much better place to live, that was for sure.

Darlyn never quite stopped smiling, simply chuckling a bit at Ms. Lerness's confused expression, and worried tone of voice. It was amusing, he knew very well that his story and station was sound enough protection, but she seemed to be weak willed enough to help him, practice, this fine art of manipulation. He kept his hand in place, pushing the agreeable thoughts into her head as he spoke again. "I'm sure they'll be understanding enough if something were to come up. Why don't we let [member="Alessia"] decide?" With that his little trick stopped, the agreeable thoughts still no doubt swirling in Ms. Lerness's head as he glanced back at Alessia, giving her a subtle, mischievous wink.

Perhaps it wasn't as amusing to [member="Cassius Droma"] but, ah well, these things happened. The jedi would have to learn quickly that Darlyn wasn't a solid 'authority' figure in the ideal, perfect image he likely wished if he hoped to find peace with the Minister's antics. At the least, he wasn't destructive in his mischief, more than some could say. He gave the man an amused, playful almost, glance before waiting on Alessia's little choice.

Ms. Lerness nodded a little, feeling an odd wave of agreement wash over her. He was the Minister of Justice. There was nothing to worry about. Alessia would be in safe hands. Besides, she was certain she could schedule another interview tomorrow.
"W-Well... I suppose it wouldn't hurt..."

This guy... He totally just pulled some magic voodoo crap on her!! THAT WAS BEYOND COOL!! Though Alessia hoped it didn't hurt her or anything. Ms. Lerness wasn't a mean woman. She was actually pretty nice when the girl wasn't going out and getting herself into trouble. She blinked a whole bunch, finally closing her jaw and thinking about the situation. If she went with Darlyn, she might get lectures and stuff about 'being a good citizen' or 'not wasting childhood' or something. Sure, he was acting all chill now. But that rarely lasted. If she stayed, she'd have to have another 'family interview' and go stay in someone's house for maybe a few weeks before getting sent back. Never fun.
Maaaaaybe she didn't have to choose either?
There was a good chance Mr. Justice and Mr. Jedi Guy wouldn't let that fly.... She sighed internally. Fiiiiiiiiine....
"I guess when you put it that way, I have to choose The Path of Justice."
She said jokingly with a shrug.

Just like the rest of the afternoon, Cassius had no idea where Darlyn was going with all of this. He’d begun to think that this was just some big waste of time. Didn’t Excron, as the Minister of Justice, have better things to do?

With the manipulation of the older woman complete, it appeared that Alessia had the choice of whether to stay here, at the orphanage and possibly meet with another family that could adopt her, or to go with Darlyn to do... something. Cassius didn’t know what the redheaded man had in mind, and he had the sneaking suspicion that Darlyn didn’t know either.

The blonde made her choice to go with Darlyn, whatever that meant. Meanwhile, Cassius was thinking of his exit strategy. It didn’t seem to appear that anything that had happened previously in the day could be taken seriously, so he was ready to just walk away, back to his quarters and spend the rest of the day reading.

Darlyn smiled and nodded his head, chuckling at [member="Alessia"] and her choice of words. Well then! He stepped back, saying farewell to Ms. Lerness and finally getting around to heading off with her and [member="Cassius Droma"] both. This time he was very direct, leading them to where Cassius could easily leave the little party, and motioning for him to realize they'd arrived. "Farewell Mr. Padawan, take care. Try not to worry too much about life, it'll give you an aneurysm. Now then Miss Alessia, have you ever been to the royal palace?" He smiled at the girl with a chuckle. Why not treat the girl, it was hard to be without parents after all. Something he understood pretty, pretty well honestly.

Alessia had her hands shoved in her jeans pockets. She gave Cassius a friendly smile and nod. He was alright, if not a little uptight. Hopefully he'd train enough to be as cool and dignified as he wanted to be. Right now though, he just seemed cranky.
She looked up at Darlyn and cocked a brow.
"... Is this gonna turn into an history trip?"
The palace sounded awesome, yeah. But somehow she felt like there had to be a catch. Adults always liked teaching people about old stuff, right? The palace probably had old stuff in it, right? This could easily turn into a history lesson. Not that Alessia didn't like learning, but uh... yeah. Kinda boring.
