The droid actually did had protection from telekinesis, in form of the armored Vong biot he wore, an organism designed specifically for protection from various powers of the Force that manipulated the body, one of the many tricks that came from the field of having to put up with Force users for so long. However while the machine could not be plucked and flung around, the air around him could still be manipulated with strong enough blasts, like the one that came from Onyx, propelling him backwards.

HK did a few rolls in the air as his jetpacks roared and screeched, breaking his speed down as in the last moment he finally realigned himself slamming into the shield generator pillar feet first, planting in two deep HK-shaped footprints with a shower of sparks as he smashed and crushed the generator beneath him, causing the pillar to crack and crumble down in the process.

As he pushed himself off, rolling on the ground he looked to Caelag, listening to what she needed him to do with a nod as a large piece of rubble fell down and bonked him on the head. The droid was about to speak something out to let the Miraluka know that she was targeting the wrong pillar but it was already all too late. Instead HK would decide to just grumble,

"Just my fething luck, getting stuck with the only blind fething sniper in the whole Galaxy."

As he grabbed the detonation pack given to him by Kainan. Taking off in a sprint the machine would adjust his position, getting close to the last remaining shield generator pillar as he spun and picked up on speed, tossing the detpack as he projected out a trajectory of its flight with his trackers and scanners, targeting the center of the last remaining shield projector.

The detonation charges would only need to barely touch the generator as HK quickly took a gunslinger's pose and in blink of an eye he had his heavy Magnetic revolver in his hand, pulled from its holster as he pressed in on the trigger of the pistol, firing off a hypervelocity neuranium pellet heading right for the center of the detonation pack. If the machine would be successful and hit his mark the detonation pack would explode and hopefully take the last shield generator along with it.

With that task the machine would come out sprinting towards the titanic war machine once more, raising his magnetic revolver as he let out at least one burst of six armor-piercing hyper velocity bullets, aiming for Onyx's damaged cracking armor plates, hopefully able to shatter and destroy them, getting them out of the way since, after all, the pistols were called "shatterguns" for a reason. HK would propel himself once more then, activating his built-in jetpacks to lift off the ground and fly to close in on the giant Shard, trying to scan and find either its body's processing and control center or the crystal in command of its mechanical vessel.

Onyx. The main enemy. Open for shots.

Could it get any better? No. And that was the issue.
Good things always lead to bad things. Still, the galaxy
was falling. Nothing could be done. There was no way
to stop Onyx but to crush him.

Disintagrate him, The Captain thought. Turn him to
fethin' dust.

He aims him disruptor at Onyx and fires, a burning beam
pinpointing on the chink in his armour.

"Cheers for the save on the shield"

The captain looks down at his disruptor. Damn thing was
out of ammo. He put it away, he'd need to use his main
weapon from now on.

Vaylin took several deep breaths as she slowly pushed herself to stand up straight. Fatigue was certainly settling in, she had barely managed to get out of the way on Onyx's attempt to swat her like a bug. The Zabrak knew well enough, that if she actually got caught by one of his attacks it was going to hurt, a lot.

She was going to have to remain quick on her feet, no matter how much her legs ached and complained.

Enyo's voice reached her ears, the odd distortion in the cyborg's voice went right over Vaylin's head. Right now, she was focused on gathering what energy she still had into her next move. Mainly a sprint, if her legs didn't give out on her that was.

With one final breath, Vaylin darted towards Onyx as the others went about their own attacks.

However before she could get too far, she felt a sudden pain slam into her mind. It caused her to stumble at first, before completely collapsing to the ground, knees slamming against the floor. There were no voices or whispers trying to twist her thoughts, just a fiery pain that was spreading like a plague. Vaylin tried to move, but her entire body shook at the slightest attempt. Lightsaber clattered to the ground as she began threading fingers through her hair, almost tugging against it in anguish.

Then it was suddenly gone, pulled away in a type of vacuum in the direction of [member="Nima Tann"]. The Zabrak had been in the midst of trying to reach her Oculus, but before she barely got her fingers close - the mental torment was uplifted from her mind. She would have to thank the Twi'lek later, for now she needed to reach Onyx. Picking up her hilt once more, Vaylin made a dash forwards.

Provided the shield went down with the combined efforts of [member="Tempest"] and [member="Caelag Vass"], then Vaylin would repeat her previous move in jumping up onto the shard's right arm. Only this time she didn't stop, nor leave. She quickly climbed, tucking beneath Onyx's arm and attempted to continue cutting away with her lightsaber. Her intent was to deaden the limb even more, make it impossible for Onyx to use it - specifically to grab her.

From there, she began to ascend from the shard's arm and towards his head.

The Foreman presented a grim visage. Its angular head was deeply scarred by impacts and acid blasts left a molten mass of glass where one ocular sensor had been. That remaining eye fell upon Vikar, then swept across the where Jessica Mathews should have been. Only she wasn’t there. Plumes of plasma shot free of the conduit and began to follow curving paths through the irregular gravitational fields.

“Always meddling in what you don’t understand. There is work to be done.”

That was all the Foreman had to say before he charged on. A rotary blaster cannon emerged from his shoulder and opened up on the lone Jedi. It spewed a stream of fire in a pattern that would push even the most defensive Jedi Master to their limits. The Foreman launched himself forwards, a claw that could overturn tanks swung for the fragile human.

Jessica Matthews said:
SMASH!
She was never given the gratification of finding out what she had achieved. Instead she found herself in a strange place. The vision they had been given as they followed the Foreman.

It was another machine, stretching as far as they eye could see. Even more organic in appearance than the one she had attacked. The air itself seemed hazy, what light there was seemed to struggle to move through it.

A shape, almost formless in the mist slowly approached.

Jsc

Disney's Princess
[member="The Foreman"] renewed his assault. His one good eye now poised straight for a meddling Jedi.

Jessica however was not granted the satisfaction of having just saved the universe with a sharp torpedo blast to the Death Star's gut. Indeed, her dramatic assault against the helpless conduit gorge brought forth nothing but visions. Untimely visions. Unwanted visions. For quiet daydreams and misting sensations during the heat of live combat were, (and do pardon the phrase,) a lay muse best left to the imagination. Mmm. Well. Or at least perhaps until the gunshots and explosions slowed down just a bit.

*le sigh* "...So much for a swift victory, I suppose?"

Caladbolg be damned and pay attention girl. That damned giant machine was bounding straight for her!

"Oh good grief. Must I do everything."

She quickly kicked up a piece of scrap mystery metal that surrounded the gorge with a swift knock of her foot. Bracing it with a gesture of the Force as a barrier between herself and the oncoming barrage of cannon fire. Watching with a gentle smile as the alien metallics showered white sparks and glorious plumes of extensive heat upon it's swollen front face. As for her second miracle too. It withheld the barrage. Splashing and fragmenting away only ever-so slowly. Rattling and echoing outward with the furious destruction of terrible, terrible sound. Boom. Boom. Boom. Yet unending in it's adamant resolve. The barrier between them held true. Haha! So pleased was she with her clever defense that the Adapt Master deigned almost to laugh at her own mystical abilities. Yes!

Alas. Then came the swipe.

KAPOW!

Jessica was thrown clear out into the wild gravity voids that surrounded them. Rocketing like a rag-doll. Flailing madly. Spinning uncontrollably. Blasting out into the twisted black gravity beyond with a rushing symphonia. Fragmented metal pieces and superheated debris followed her like the tail of a retreating comet. Lingering. Surviving. But only because of the dampening force caused by the passing of a titanic claw cleaving threw damaged mystery-monster-metal first. And perhaps because her bodysuit provided her with a moderate amount of environmental protection. Even while unconscious. Even with the light of the world slipping away. A weakening condition of mindlessness she so quietly embraced whilst tumbling like a falling star. Out into the great beyond.

The maddening darkness took her in and the visions of [member="The Light Beyond"] rose up to swallow her whole. Leaving [member="Andorreth Vikar"] in the near vicinity to defeat the great metal beast without her.

Pausing at what'd just happened I yelled "Oh, come on!!!! Feth you and your work you fierfeck'la hut'uun of a great, obnoxious. lugnut!!!!!!!" I saw Matthews take the hit then go limp. Oh kark me.... Reaching out with The Force I felt her presence and gripped her through The Force. I also saw the fragments of sharp metal shrapnel following her through the gravity wells. Osik, as she was being pulled free I channeled The Force and whipped out a cloud of sand that I pulled Matthews through and catching her I took a knee over her limp form as I hardened the sand and the shrapnel broke through in several places. Now left to deal with The Foreman alone I waited until the shrapnel stopped showering over us. Then using the sands I pushed Matthews off to the side and began to levitated those razor bits of shrapnel. "Y'all really don't get it do you? No matter what you do someone will rise to face you I'm just the one that happens to be here right now."

I began using The Force to fling the razor keen shrapnel back towards its source. "You caged a Corellian!" Another shard of shrapnel fired towards him. "You tortured others to get us here." Emptying the clip of the weapon I had into both legs I saw the metal begin to warp. "You want to use a weapon you've no idea how to use." Tossing the rifle away I used The Force to pull the rest of the grenades from my belt and bean spinning them in a circle midair. "You're living for all the good that does you. Your centuries have left you all with a massive problem. Your egos, very human of y'all you know? Problem is pride comes before a fall, your time in the blackness has robbed you of vision." I began tossing the rotating grenades towards him the gel coating on their shells would stick to whatever the touched. A few ion and disruptor grenades on his armor the majority around him were to hopefully bring down the structure or parts of it on him. I was well and truly done having to outsmart these karking machines.....

Caelag
Caelag succeeded in destroying the last shield generator with her shot.

Enyo
Onyx’s power was diluted by it being spread across so many. Therefore, Enyo’s counter attack, combined with everything else was able to penetrate his defences.
Combined with Nima’s lowering of its mental defences, the attack of mechu deru damaged vital components inside the droid body Onyx resided in. The golem unleashed a howling wail as it reeled from the onslaught.

Nima
As Nima turned its pain back on Onyx, combined with Enyo’s attack she would see a glimpse into the mind of the Shard. A glimpse into his plan.

The ring.

The sphere.

Prisons.

A closed door.

Beyond that gateway lay a realm of shadows, but Nima would see shapes in the shadows. Something was waiting behind the gateway, just waiting for the door to open.

With ancient, methodical malice the creatures begun to turn their attention to Nima.

It was time to leave before their madness could reach her.

They had to destroy the machine and Onyx to prevent the door being broken.

HK
The last generator was well and truly extra destroyed.

His magnetic revolver did its job and broke open the damaged plate, revealing the insides of the droid’s torso, with all the machinery therein. That was an obvious weakspot to exploit. Further, the mental attacks on the Shard had left it unstable and tottering.

Ironbread

The Captain’s shot pierced into the gap in the armour, blasting apart some of the internals.

Vaylin
Vaylin’s attacks caught the titan at a moment when it was already staggered, and so her offensive succeeded in causing yet more damage, to the point when the right arm could no longer move. However, the left hand flailed at her like it was trying to swat a particularly painful bug.

ALL

Onyx was badly damaged. Its shield was down, a large section of armour was rent open, its right arm was damaged and it was reeling. One more attack would topple it.

However, Onyx had one final trick up its metaphorical sleeve. The aura of its Force presence would flare darkly as it stretched out with a final assault.

Reaching into the Dark Side fully, Onyx sought to drain the life force of any organic in the throne room. This would steal their life and use it to strengthen the Shard’s own power.

For HK who was naturally immune to it though, blasts of scalding lightning would emanate to blast him. Though his shield would protect him from the natural weakness of a droid, the shield would have trouble sustaining a continued offensive.

Those in the room would have to act quickly to destroy Onyx before they were turned to dust and before he regained his strength. The final climax was here at last.

Once again HK would have been thrown aside as the lightning from the large war droid impacted him once more, his shield was holding, for now, but even the machine's systems had their limits and they were quickly approaching him. HK knew that this was the moment where they had to end this fight or things will get much more difficult for all of them, regardless whether the droid was aware that his companions were being drained from their life force or not.

Moving on the ground HK tried to stomp and crawl towards Onyx as close as he could, bent in half by the force of the lightning like a man pushing his way against a tornado, whipped by wicked winds. With Onyx's armor gone the machine and Shard's weakness would be unveiled, so the droid tried to close in the distance as much as he could and then raised his hands. His fingers formed strange sigils and formations, activating the systems of his gauntlets as at that moment the droid would reveal one of the biggest tricks he had up his sleeve, for there was a reason why he was so sure earlier that he could have disabled the blast door and damage force shields in the button room even though they were hidden within walls, why he allowed others to take the point and do a lot of that work for him.
The droid was capable of telekinesis.

Activating his Gauntlets of Gravitational Mastery HK would throw out a couple of gravitational anomalies within the exposed cavity of Onyx's body, pulling and ripping as much as he could to either rip the Shard from within his confines and summon it right into his hands, or pull and break the way through inner mechanisms and circuitry to expose a clean pathway to the Shard and allow someone else to finish the beast off. Either way, it should have done some damage as the sophisticated mechanisms drew on HK's physical power to determine potency of his telekinesis, and being a machine with what amount to crushgaunts in his hands, he was usually able to do a nice amount of damage. The downside of these gauntlets were their limited range, the further his target was the less grip he could have on them, so pushing through the lightning with all he had left and closing the distance between himself and Onyx was crucial.

But then again hardly anyone, whether it was Shard or HK's companions, would expect a droid to conduct a telekinetic attack.

Tempest

Storm of the Force
[member="Enyo Typhos"] [member="Nima Tann"] et al

The breakthrough was just what Tempest had been waiting for. Reaching into the Force she unleashed her own blasts of lightning right at the gap in Onyx’s armour.
Even when the tendrils of Dark energy stretched out to engulf her she consciously kept up the attack. It was agonising, and she could not keep it up for long, but she knew that they had to destroy Onyx before he regenerated.
“Keep…attacking!” she said, falling to her knees.

Garnet meanwhile, less affected by the Force draining, called upon her own powers and sent a blazing lance of fire into the gap as well. She had made her choice and would bring down her former master.

  • PVE Anti-Onyx Group (Terminal)

Caelag couldn't revel in her success, unfortunate as it was, despite feeling the actions around her indicate the success of the attempt, or at the least the success of the overall attempt. You see, as Caelag turned, the lightsaber in her left hand and her right reaching for the pistol given by HK earlier, she was suddenly struck by a wave of such dark power, both weapons disengaged and clattered to the floor, falling to her knees. Her sniper rifle followed suit, sliding well out of her reach ahead of her as she tried to take take it out, falling to her knees in pain before falling over, face down onto the ground. Never before had Caelag experienced this, and for someone so in tune with the force naturally it came as quite... potent.

She was less affected than some, and certainly wasn't at risk of instantly dying, but her connection to everything was rattled as she struggled to stay awake. Voices rang in her head, perhaps those of beings long gone, perhaps the fevered imaginations of a woman in shock, or perhaps only those of the people in the room, misinterpreted in her mind. Whatever the case, it felt beyond surreal, as she laid almost still as a corpse for what seemed to her an eternity.

Move, my little soldier. You have a shot to make.

Caelag lifted her arm slowly, planting it in front of her as she slowly, agonizingly slowly, dragged her body forward. The other hand then, and again. Eternity stretched on, as Caelag followed the instruction in her head, the same instruction that her mother would give her. Fight. Win. Survive. Another slap of her hand against the floor, another. Even as HK fought against the force of lightning, Caelag fought against the sensation of feeling dead, of dying. The urge to close her eyes, shut out the pain...

Her hand slapped against the metal of her rifle, and the woman dragged it close.

Take aim. Breathe. You decide who lives and dies. You are the god of the battlefield.

The rifle was properly placed, Caelag managing to slowly level her weapon. By using this ability, the Shard had made a mistake. She could see the force. She could see where it was being siphoned to. She could, for once, see Onyx plain as day, a dark spot of light amid a sea of grey and that without life. A target.

A calm, vengeful god.

Caelag took a breath, and smiled. "See you in hell. For the Empire..." And with that, Caelag squeezed the trigger of her rifle, the distinct, violent cry of the weapon cutting through the cacophony of battle, the vengeful bolt of energy placed purposefully at the point where the force was drawn towards. The weak point, created by HK, utilized by Ironbeard, and Garnet's spear of flame, perhaps even what made the Shard... a Shard, and not some simple machine. Wouldn't that be... delightful?

It took time, but Audren was also able to gain the central conduit. It seemed the column was the focal point of gravity: his feet stayed on the thing as he moved around it. Factor it into his strategies and he could be fine. As he moved though, the place seemed to shift again, to blink from one form to another, yet always with the same underlying skeletal structure of where they were. A dimensional gateway then? He'd heard of such things but never experienced them. Something to ruminate on later though.

As he landed on the central spire, guardians made of the same sort of 'cloud' droids formed and attacked. Unlike before the Sephi had no pre-made fire to work with, no improvised explosive canisters. Jessica's companion seemed to brush through the guardians, which left Audren to deal with them. That grenade launcher would have come in handy. Other options then. As his lightsaber whirled to life and intersected the light bolts spat at him, the nearest platform began shifting. So did he, moving to barely keep the lunging droids off him whilst gathering them closer together. Dangerous work, as he had to move faster and faster to avoid the attacks.

Seconds later he left, lunging out and away towards the Foreman. The droids turned to follow...and were smashed flat by the moving platform. The gong of impact was intense, but did little more than shiver the conduit. Solid construction. No doubt some of the droids survived, but too few to form a credible threat. It was too bad that there were objectives here, the concept of the droids was interesting and he could have used samples. Maybe later.

Further in, Jessica had smashed at a weakened portion of the conduit, which had attracted the direct attention of the Foreman. She defended against the rotary cannon with a piece of the metal floating around, but could do little against the physical swipe of the gigantic appendage and was swiftly heading out to space. Fortunately, her companion managed to catch her and bring her back in. He then used the Force to hurl shrapnel and grenades at the droid, as well as emptying his blaster at the thing. Far be it for Audren to interfere; but he could help. With an imperious tilt of his head and a flash in his eyes, the Jedi Master brought cables of Force power into being, swarming the damaged bot. Not to tear it to pieces: it had withstood multiple grenade blasts already with what appeared to be only superficial damage. No, he simply tried to hold it immobile. To let the shrapnel and grenades and blaster bolts that had been launched take their effect. If still needed afterwards, he would try his tactics. He'd yet to use most of his own arsenal, after all.

There were no gods in this universe. Only delusional fools. Those who called themselves deites or gave themselves absurd titles such as 'God-King' or 'God-Emperor' were sooner pulled from their pedestal.

Tendrils of dark, consuming energy swarmed from Onyx, enveloping her. The only thing organic about Enyo was her brain, but a Deadly Field was an esoteric technique that still affected her. She felt like the Force was being pulled out of her. It was agonising and leeching.

So she advanced. She raised her right arm, opening her palm. Then she fired her mini ion disruptor. One beam after another erupted from the small cannon and shot towards the exposed inner parts of Onyx. The rifle variant of an ion disruptor could disintegrate organics and disable starships.

Her version was less overpowered, but still strong. Leeching tendrils clawed at her and here and there dazzling bolts of lightning struck her, and she kept firing. Feeding upon the darkness that permeated the area, she used her gift for an attack meant to shortcircuit and explode exposed machinery inside the Shard.

Admittedly Kurayami had gotten a bit turned around a few times during the descent, but he finally managed to make it to the room where his comrades were already engaged with The Foreman. He arrived in time to see Jessica swiped away like a fly,and one of the others pulled her back. That was good, but damn that had to sting to get hit by that droid. Audren reached out tendrils of the Force to try and immobilize the hunk of metal and wiring. If he could manage to do so they still had a decent chance. Seeing multiple pieces of metal and droids scattered around, he took the chance to start using the rubble as projectiles. Seeking to cause enough of a distraction and perhaps cause some damage, allowing the others to finish off the towering beast. If he could keep the cannon occupied and manage a few hits, that should be enough.

Sharpened pieces of metal were thrown at incredible speeds, accelerated with the Force, seeking only the defeat of the Foreman himself. arts of destroyed droids as well as entire droids joined in the barrage of scrap metal that was being used now as a weapon. The incoming projectiles did not let up, nor was there a discernible pattern to which direction they came from or a set timing for each attack, only that it was unrelenting in how constant it was.

The Zabrak's attacks against Onyx had done its work to disable the shard's right arm. She could hear something groaning as the limb attempted to move, but was barely able to shift before something sparked and forced it to be completely still. But it didn't stop Onyx from trying to hit her with his left more axe-like arm. And at this point the shard seemed uncaring if it strike itself in the process.

He was trying anything to take Vaylin down before she could progress along her path.

She ascended up, using Onyx's plating to climb until she had managed get high enough that she'd be able to drop down into the gap between his head and chestplate. That was when Onyx's last trick - almost immediately Vaylin could feel something being pulled from her. Like a thousand little tendrils were being forcefully tugged at, draining her very life force from her body.

This pissed her off even more.

Vaylin stumbled, fell from sudden shock of being struck by the Force Drain and landed firmly where she intended. But she was now out of the reach of his left arm, provided Onyx wasn't about to potentially smack himself in the head. The Zabrak growled as she slowly stood up, legs wobbling as she felt herself growing weaker each moment.

She drew out her second lightsaber, igniting both of the red blades as she stared down at Onyx's eyes - at least she presumed the shard even looked through them.

"Time to die, you piece of scrap metal." With one last yell, she plunged her lightsabers straight into the shard's face.

Finally being joined by another few people I looked towards [member="The Foreman"] and said "You're done mate, should have ensured we couldn't get up because now we'll make sure you don't again." I saw the energy cables the other long haired and fabulous looking man had shackled The Foreman with. The pilot I'd seen earlier had begun throwing chunks of metal at him and I'd had enough as well. My aqua saber still ignited I called my second saber to my free hand and interlocked them into a saber staff. Activating the jet's in my armor I tossed my aqua saber in my left hand to my right and spun the blade towards the ground while moving. As I closed the distance I drew several blades and slammed them into the leg joints of The Foreman. After doing so I flicked another palm sized detonator open and detonated the explosive blades in the joints, cutting the jets on my armor I rolled to the side as The Foreman began moving.

Shifting my hold on my saber-staff I held it now as a spear. Right hand on the back and left in front, I was done going at this giant lugnut from distance I want my saber through it's heart and this threat finished and up close and personal was the way I'd go about it. Now all that remained was to see how much damage I could inflict..... Rolling forward I stabbed my saber-staff into the left knee of The Foreman and swiveling on my his drove my blade into the left knee. Pulling my blade back away I speared it into the abdomen twice in quick succession, dancing back away from this ridiculous lugnut I waited for the effect of my attacks ready to spring away should I need to....

This time, it would be vision. The furnace at the heart of the Foreman burned in fury. It groaned with every move but tried to throw its form at Vikar. The tendrils that Audren Sykes had wrapped around its body held firm, but the machine edged forwards. Its knees barely moved follow the assaults, but still it pressed on. Never had such a simple machine embodied hatred of the living as it did now.

And then the entire conduit flared with light. Only to have the section Mathews had damaged blow out. Darkness fell.

This was no vision.

They were in the realm they had seen before. They could touch it, sense it, smell it. Everything was covered in a fine layer of a residue that formed a sort of mesh. The air was hot and heavy, breathing was difficult.

Formless shapes of mist turned to look at them. At least the perception that they were under scrutiny would be conveyed.

Not Yet....

Another flash and they were back. The Foreman was not. The conduit was still spewing out what seemed to be a form of plasma. Other conduits within the great superstructure started to rupture too.

[member="Andorreth Vikar"] , [member="Kurayami Bloodborn"] , [member="Audren Sykes"] , and Jessica too. All had returned to the conduit. Except for the Foreman. That half destroyed monster had disappeared. Not that Jessica really cared much for it. She was waking up right now into a whole new world of hurt,

"Aagghh..."

Jess moaned as she awoke back to a whole new pain-filled consciousness of life. Gagh. It hurt everywhere just to move. Damn it all. Why? What had happened?

"Oww. Aagghh. What? Why?"

Her memory slowly coming back to her just as the plasma streams began to rupture all over the conduit. She remembered now. The Foreman had struck her. Yes. But then... Nothing? Maybe she was dead? Maybe this was heaven?

"Ugh. Probably not that lucky I suppose. Hurts too much to be dead. Agh."

She pulled herself up onto her shoulder. Half prostrate on the uneven ground. Too painful to even think clearly. She looked around with a grimace and sighed. No. She wasn't dead at all. But she would be. If this whole place began to rupture and explode. This was bad. This was very, very bad.

"Ugh. Damn it all. Stupid, karking, dungeon."

Cursing helped but she still needed to move. Needed to at least try to stand up. She needed to get out of here before these visions turned into explosions. Gagh. Damn it all. Why did moving hurt so much. Frak. Just how hard had that monster hit her anyway? Bah.

Jessica staggered to stand. Half delusional. Half feeling beat to death. Still half wondering where the Foreman had disappeared too. Yet, half not caring at all. Her head was stilling spinning and most of this wasn't making sense anymore.

"Ugh. Bugger me."

All she wanted to do now was leave.

Objective: Grounding
Location: Outskirts of the Machine
Allies: TBD
Enemies: Contingency

"The enemy is on the move" the interceptor pilot reported in.

"This is not an enemy on which conventional suppressive fire will work. Droids won't get suppressed the way organic troops are: aim for their power cells!"

"Their power cells are at the back; are you suggesting that we can somehow penetrate a battle droid's power cell with a 10mm ripper?, if they attack head-on?" a Bimm soldier asked.

Yes, the bombardment directed at the enemy anti-aircraft was taking its toll on the enemy forces, even though only incompetent commanders would leave anti-aircraft unattended on the defense, unless they were doing it as bait for an ambush. While the Jedi, Sith and other special units were busy fighting Onyx and, of course, the Foreman, her aim was to draw out as many of the enemy forces as is possible, such as Footmen, supported by a variety of other weapons such as Annihilators, with a good fraction of the enemy AT-BTs and crawlers being hit at the same time as the anti-aircraft next to them were, presumably because the enemy expected field artillery, under the form of tanks, to close in. And yet, these burrowers being much slower underground than above-ground, their rear segments were caught in the thermobaric charge blast which, in a confined space such as a tunnel, proved devastating to any enemy burrower caught within it. As a result, they caused the ground underneath to collapse upon the crawlers exploding, leaving only the above-ground enemy troops to attack. With enemy tanks being deployed in front of the remaining force, they were met by proton torpedo fire, both from the interceptors and the heavy weapons infantry. Meanwhile, the enemy tanks opened fire on a few tanks that weren't able to take hull-down cover, with the tanks targeted in this fashion going up in flames under concentrated enemy fire.

"They're now vulnerable to aerial attacks! Commence bombing run! We'll close in on the Machine once we have thinned their positions"

"We're going in!" the bomber commander acknowledged.

But conventional suppressive fire not working would mean that machineguns would have to fire for the kill rather than to get the enemy to take cover. Also, given that three-second bursts from those very machineguns were sufficient to kill fighters, they were also able to kill Annihilators' limbs and the footmen around them, while they returned fire. She could sense that the enemy is making one last sortie out of despair, with enemy counter-barrage fire taking out a few of the Hwachas. But the counter-barrage fire, which was rather limited in volume thanks to the first strike being rather effective, was aimed not so much at destroying the missile batteries but at taking out their support elements. Forced to improvise, the enemy had to divert some tanks in anti-aircraft roles; not the most efficient tactic, which nevertheless was able to shoot down a few aircraft flying rather low. And a bomber, hit by a heavy laser cannon shot, still carrying the equivalent of four proton bombs onboard exploded, because of its reactor and engines, upon crashing a few meters shy from the city's C2 facility, which housed the Machine that gave the city its codename. Or maybe 10-20 meters from it. The glorious explosion was visible for kilometers around the impact point... but Jessica was unable to tell how would the explosion affect the facility, due to the sheer amount of smoke. The Machine was under attack, and the siege of the Machine far from over, even as footmen engaged infantry in the hills outside the city everyone in the SJ called the Machine.
