My big problem with it all is that there is now a big fissure between aurora industries and the republic :/

I guess Orphen and Taeli are gonna have to have a big talk.

Cos, Orphen is quite close with Aurora industries, but he's definitely still loyal to the Jedi.

hmmmmm....

In the meantime, the Republic is gonna have to figure out how to survive dealing with the OS, the Corporations, and possibly raids/incursions from other major factions. I'm seeing it two ways: either the Republic fails and falls, letting something grow up new from the ashes, or the Republic gets its act together and comes out badly beaten, but stronger than it was. Either way, looks like some good stories and opportunities.

Hello hello,

Hectic first day :)
While it seem the thread is back on track I am just going to put in a word here for anyone still wondering.

The GR is not planning on self destruct. Individual writers may, as always, consider that a good course but there is no such intentions from the writer of the Gen plot that caused this thread, nor from myself as new FO. The OS may eat us, but thats a whole other story...

That said, we are entering a time of turmoil IC wise. At the same time we are in a ooc change of faction leadership, rumors are bound to run around ;)

Hence I repeat that there is no intentions on seeing the republic end. This is a grand story, but not another split of the faction or otherwise attempts from the story creators to diminish the GR.

So, republicans, stay cool and Continue RP your characters and write your stories.

If you dont think the plot seems interesting just move on with your own stories inside the republic. While a civil war is meant to spice things up it is not meant to overshadow everything going on in the republic.
On the other hand, if you think this is a darn good plot - get involved here:
the Gen plot here.

Regardless!
Happy writing :)

Problem: The Republic has literally just made enemies of pretty much... every faction on the board, almost. The GA sees abuse of power and crime, the Mandos see weakness, and the Techno Union is corporate. On top of this, most of the major corporations on the board have had their assets seized, had attempts for asset seizure, or have sided with affected corporations through called in favors or outright principle.

The Republic leadership may not have any intentions to end the republic, but I can easily point out that the majority of the galaxy now does.

Here's hoping you have some good political skills and that the masses don't jump ship, because you're gonna need all the help you can get. Good luck to you, though, from a former FO to a current FO.

Though, this is a plot-line, which will end, so, I assume just for good-writing and for story purposes, others wont just go all pub-stompy and super srs.

Um... It kind of looks like everyone is taking this in seriousness IC'ly. The event may just be an internal event originally, but poor decisions dragged in corporations, which dragged in other factions, making it an external event as well. Regardless of what happens IC'ly internally, various factions are now eyeing the Republic as are the masses of corporations.

I give it a week before someone slams Republic borders, less if more bad decisions are made.

This is literally a textbook case of the Snowball Effect.

Just so you know. Sven Aka the prime minister is leaving the site. While planning this event I urged to leave corporations out of this, however they went forward with it despite people planning the event didn't want to do it. Now I apologize for this but now you are essentially punishing the people who wanted nothing to do with that while the person who did it will be gone. Do you understand this?

"Punish" is the wrong word. "Reacting" would be more accurate.

Characters are reacting to this as is normal for them. People aren't just going to ignore what's happened because 'it's part of a send off for X'. Regardless of who protested what, this is no longer a strictly internal affair. It might have started out that way, but now outside parties are involved. You can't just flip a switch because it's not going according to the original design.

At this point, the only way you could contain this is any real way would be to try having a dozen or so threads declared non-canon. As Popo pointed out, whatever was originally planned has now snowballed into something else entirely. Whatever the writers might feel, their characters will play this out as they will. And if that means a lot of corporations launch a war on the Republic... Well then that's what's going to happen.
