so why is everyone so up and arms as if I had attacked each one of you personally?
I think you're guilty of doing what you're accusing others of doing - taking things personally, being defensive.

You've stated your opinion, others are stating their own opinions in return. It can end there, I don't know why some people are so against not letting it end there.

Allright, then I invite you to disprove my statemen that: The One Sith and Galactic Republic get the most new members, and also the ones newest to roleplaying, whose content is almost always of lower quality than the ones that sought out more secluded and lore focused factions
Insulting. When I first joined, in my honest opinion, I had better grammar, punctuation, and quality than half the people that join now. Again, all speculation that has zero founding other than opinion.

Also, yes, they join the TWO CANON STYLIZED FACTIONS. Some people have only ever seen the movies, so when they join, know only of the Pubs and Sith. What do you expect?

I'm not expecting anything. I bluntly stated that the two most popular and well known factions, where drawing in the largest crowds, and so coming up with a huge quantity of very mixed quality content

Yeah, pretty much what this guy said.

I think you're right about the OS & The Republic being the two biggest (for the moment), but you're not right about the quality. They theoretically bring in more people, period. If they do so, the amount of low-quality posters they'll bring and the amount of high quality posters they'll bring will be higher than the other factions.

Hi Ash. I'm Jay and I'm here to help.

Let's talk about some of the terminology in your first post. I'll start with: Noobs, low quality, harsh but true, bad writers, fools, and hardcore. (We'll skip hardcore because that's clearly too sexy for a PG-13 forum. wink wink.) These are some easy terms to get mixed up about. Which might be why you're receiving such flak for an otherwise, completely ignoble spillage of a thread.

Noobs - There are no noobs on this forum. Just new members.
Low Quality - There are no low quality people on this forum. Just differences of opinion. And that's human.
Harsh b True - We don't care about the *Truth* here. We just RP in a fantastical setting and keep it optimistic and fun.
Bad Writers - There are no bad writers on this forum. Just different levels of skill. And that's okay at every level.
Fools - This is what we call them in private. In public? Well. Yeah. We still call them fools. Lulz. Every forums got some. Still, private is best.

Okay. Now that we've addressed some the hard words, lets talk about positive and negative energy. Ash, trolls thrive on negative energy. Negative energy is a post that is harsh, judgmental, inappropriate, socially inept, frustrated, and otherwise dark or harmful in it's application. As a community we must strive to deviate away from posting with negative energy. We must not feed the trolls. Opposite, positive energy is what we here at CHAOS strive to share and share alike. These are posts that are helpful, upbeat, bubbly, cheerful, compassionate, understanding, and charitable. This is what makes a post, great.

So in the future as you continue your journey into... Well... Whatever it is you were doing here. (Reviewing, people? idk.) Let's stay away from bad terminology and strive to harness more positive energy.

Again. My name is Jay. And you can have a LifeCoach in me. (For just $ 19.99 American every month. Some sensual favors apply.) So yeah. Cheers and happy posting! :D :p

One Sith and Galactic Republic getting the most new members is a misconception. The Galactic Alliance probably took the Galactic Republic's spot and the conglomerate of Jedi Orders in their own right get their fair share of individuals. Depends on your cup of tea - Jedi Order and JAN for me, haven't dabbled in the NJO but I'm a GA Member.

EDIT - This isn't like, them getting new or old members. Just members period.

Posting process/speed/etc - School, Work, IRL Issues, Muse, Whatever. I don't think that weighs in on the Faction and the member base.

Quality of Posts - Same, I've had poodoo posts because I took a solid 6-8 month break, but it's getting better. Compare it to like May of last year, sometimes people get rusty. If they're new - they learn. Hell, I'm still learning by reading other people's material. I've been writing since I was 14! A long time.

I'm not sure I'm getting any relevancy or correlation to Faction/Writer. Maybe I'm just - needing something to drink.

Just my thoughts.

SSC has had new members to Chaos join us first, only to leave and join the GR or GA or JO or etc etc...

Simply because it did not suit their characters to be with us. Which is perfectly fine, new writers are simply that .. new writers to the boards does not make them noobs. And even if they are, so what? so what if they like the idea of cutting their teeth in the GR or GA or JO or etc etc...

I am not sure, to be honest, of the purpose of this thread to begin with. :)

[member="Ashtah Ordo"] and everyone else.

Let's not be hypocritical. How many of us have actively roleplayed with someone who really writes one-lines posts without punctuation. I've seen a couple around. I don't have a problem having them around on the site, but do I want to actively roleplay with them? No.
Do they want to roleplay with me? No.
If they asked me? I'd probably say yes and help them in any way I can.

This is a free community. You get to choose with whom to write. Like you choose friends, ice-cream flavor and a major. A matter of personal preference.
