I believe I have a conflict of interest if I go about judging the submitted vehicle by Jeff Solaris, as he plans to sell it to my character and form a contract between our companies once approved for my company to design the final product and license back to him for sale. Clearly I don't want to go around approving things which I could gain from, even if I believe I'm judging fairly.

Slight question, as this was brought up to me in response to one of the request for edits or development threads in Jerry Mar's submission for a disruptor carbine.

As far as any sources in canon I can find that list the range of a standard disruptor rifle in canon, the maximum range was 20 and the optimal range was 10 meters. Down below it states that the RPG variation of Star Wars changed it to 450 meters maximum with an optimal range of 45, though it is believed (in the description below this is stated) that it was done for RPG mechanics, and not so much for a change in canon.

I requested an edit be made to lower the range to 300 meters (Accidentally typed 100 prior, was edited and such) in atmosphere (they were requesting 1000 meters in atmosphere, 3000 in vacuum, and 300 underwater in their submission for a magnified disruptor rifle, which would increase the range of the gun). I offered the option to reach the 800 optimal, 1000 maximum, benchmark through a 15 post development thread that involved tweaking the lens through trial and error, but this was before finding the note at the bottom of the page that mentioned the RPG mechanic of the rifle, and I was requested to re-evaluate my decision, though she edited her response in request for the weapon to be archived so she could get back to it.

My question is this: Am I requesting too much of a change from her 1000 meter initial range? Is 1000 meters fair as-is, without any edits or a development thread?

Reasoning: A single shot from a disruptor rifle generally disintegrates the victim, so I was requesting the development thread based on the increase of range + the immediate lethality.

I feel like I come here often..

Anyways, someone submitted a sub for an ion cannon that is powerful enough to

- Ability to disable a ship up to cruiser size with a single three round burst. (Unless ship is specifically protected against ion shots)
Sub link here

From what I read, ion cannons are generally capable of lowering shields and subsequent shots may bring down a ship by overloading their systems and such, but this one in particular is requesting a single shot to take down any ship from cruiser and down.

I don't really feel comfortable approving this, even if I ask for a development thread, I've discussed the subject of this very submission with the person in their faction's pre-factory page, and they insisted on trying to push it through. Also, they haven't included any development thread for this, either, so I plan to ask for one anyways.

Yeah no... there's not even a dev thread. Though with a rather good dev thread I'd be open to allowing them to get through a ships shield a bit easier, but completely disabling a ship with only three shots...

I'm gonna have to say no. [member="Silara Vantai"]

Go with your gut, its usually right :)

I got a request from a player on the subject of their Vibroblade submission - he wishes to have obtained the swords as a form of relic from the past, basically a canon vibroblade from the old republic era when it was still somewhat common for them to be created with cortosis weave on the blade. The issue is that cortosis is a restricted material, and while he said he'd be fine with doing a thread for it (though he wasn't sure on how he'd do it, which I'll post suggestions on if he needs to) and asked me this:

That was the point of the blades being taken from an Echani temple: the dating of the Cortosis weave, since a traditional Echani blade from that era would be made to that era's standard. I can remove the poison aspect, as well as the cortosis, but the idea was they are antique blades ransacked from an ancient Echani temple, presented as gifts from my character's employer when he worked as a hitman. The blades them self are implied to be from the Old Republic era, so would it slide, on the cortosis?

And if not, im happy to create a developmemt thread, but how would I go about creating a development thread for an item that predates my own character's existence by several thousand years?
I'd still like a development thread for the obtaining of the blade regardless due to the poison, but I told him that I would ask if he could do a thread that involved obtaining the blades in their completed condition, sort of how treasure hunts are done periodically by the silver jedi, as a past RP.

I would have him use the dev thread to find it and to reconstruct them I think that would be pretty awesome to read. Let him know I'm willing to help him with anything on Eshan. [member="Darth Sinna"]
