Fire and Blood [Iron Empire T3 Dominion of Miasma & Tera Lush]

30/30

Escorted by Iron Empire personnel to her uncle, Aster's disheveled hair and attire almost gave her the appearance that was reminiscent of the rabble who lived in the lower levels of Coruscant. Had she been in a better state of mind she would have cleaned herself up before insisting on seeing the man but the kidnapping had taken its toll on her. She wanted - no, needed to be around someone who might give her some sense of comfort and safety after the ordeal.

"Uncle..." she whispered when she the figure of the man and her body which begged for rest began to give in. With each guided step, her eyelids grew heavier and heavier and she became less aware of her surrounding. Warm, salty tears fell from her blue eyes as she began to cry. She was safe now. Everything is going to be ok.

"Princess..." the man who had been supporting her weight whispered as her body began to slump and tightened his hold on her. They were little over a meter away from the Emperor.

"Uncle," Aster greeted the man with tired eyes before giving in to her body's demands. Her feelings of happiness, relief, safety, were washed away from her as the tide of unconsciousness consumed her being.

It was time to rest.

The man was prepared for my strike. His blade swiped from one side to the other to throw my aim off. However, I pressed forward still. Coming in with my left metal arm to punch just about where his cheek would be through the man's helmet. A solid dong sound rang out as he reared back away from me to get his bearings. The man shook his head as I stood there. He nodded his head. Surprised that I was moving so fast to pull that off. Holding the sword to my left, I had my right side forward.

This time before I could move, he lunged in. Taking a step back, his blade pierced air as I brought the sword across my left side straight for his head. He barely ducked in time for my blade to scrape across the top of his dome. His forward roll was unexpected though, and as he came up to his feet, I charged him. Coming to slice him in half, I stopped mid way and let the blade drop. It fell about to my hips were I came out with a long arcing swing to the right. He barely caught it with an X formation of his weapons to the side. While our blades were locked, I closed the gap with a shoulder bash.

He was buffed to the ground hard. Falling over. I walked a step closer and he winced as though he were going to be struck down. Instead, I offered him a hand.

"What?"

I smiled behind my mask and shook my hand. Indicating for him to take it. Pulling the man up, I then took a step back and brought my sword up.

"We are fighting an honorable battle yes? Then its not honorable to strike when I man is down."

The individual was taken back a second as he closed the gap with a few steps, then lunged again. I smiled and side stepped. Before I could strike, he twisted around to swing at me. I bowed my back out to avoid the slash that came for my mid section and moved a step back to keep some distance between us. The man followed up the strikes faster and faster until he got close. A little too close. trying to stab me with his off hand, I rose my arm up and smacked it away, and then threw a kick into his chest.

he was sent backwards. Sprawling. I came forward and grabbed the man by the collar of his uniform, and yanked him around. Then brought the sword to smack the flat of the blade against the side of his helmet. A loud bang rang out as I charged in. Shoving my shoulder into the man, before slashing at his legs, and then at his arm. The strikes barely cut through his clothing, and his skin, but not too much damage. To were I brought my handle forward and use the pommel to smash his faceplate.

The visor broke half way, and as he was turning around to back up, I let the blade lean out towards the man's neck, so as he came back to face me, the blade's point was almost touching the nape of his neck. Just above his collar.

"Is this fight over? or do you wish to continue?"

Zeradias Mant

Democracy Dies in Darkness
There was still much to do. Now that Aedan and his gung ho forces were taking leave of the vicinity, Zeradias could conduct business as originally intended. Zera outstretched his arms in the direction of the hangar, inviting the emperor to join them at the bridge, where they would discover the secrets the Chiss Liberation Front.

Zeradias' adjutant on his heels conveyed the admiral's orders to escort the ex-pirate's forces from the system and to convey that the Crown would be in touch. Everyone was already on edge, so he was specific to ensure the message wasn't as coarse.

Entering the bridge, there was a handful of navy engineers and technicians at the stations the pilots and crew would normally be at. The central hub of the CLF's operations all in one area. If the fall of the Last Hope marked the end of the Chiss insurgency, the Iron Empire could finally begin their walk down the path of progress.

Approaching him was the senior technician, who appeared to have a nervous expression. Anticipating bad news, Zeradias asked what it was. Good news and bad news, which did he want first? The day had plenty of bad news already, they could use a break in the streak. Bad news was the tip of the spear on the Last Hope.

"The Last Hope was the CLF's mobile headquarters. With the capture of it, the rebellion is no more. We win, sir."

With a thin smile, Zeradias nodded and thanked him. Now for the bad news.

"Most of the data is corrupt or missing. We're not going to be able to recover it."

"How can that be?"

"Only a small fraction of the data was wiped by the crew. That's mostly shipping manifests, armaments, ship related stuff. The majority of the remaining data is where it get's interesting... It was accessed remotely - it's not on this ship."

Aedan. Rather than immediately pursue, he would follow the emperor's lead and deal with it at a later date. That would give him time to launch an investigation and ensure it wasn't just an overzealous servicemember from the Iron Empire.

This was a major victory for the Iron Empire, and it would mark a pivotal turning point in it's history. Now, the Iron Empire could build.

Aedan sat on the Werda Kyr'am not remotely worried by the mass of Iron Empire ships that seemed to be surronding his finding himself utterly bored as his ships didn't destroy but disabled any ships that left and were not following the proper protocol. Finally he sighed and stood gesturing to his second in command absently as he left the bridge. "Continue this operation also get me the data we acquired from the CLF ships and have it downloaded to a datapad externally and sent to my quarters." The ex pirate king made his way slowly to his quarters laughing occasionally with his men as he went smirking darkly as he finally entered his room. It seems someone in the Iron Empire was untrusting of him some people may be insulted but Aedan considered it a good sign and an honor now was the fun part convincing the man that he was here to help and truly be of assistance instead of possibly betraying him.

The princess was saved which made Lyle content and glad as well as his men. Their primary objective was a success, but now it was time to focus back on the secondary one.

And that was to eliminate all terrorists of this compound, and perhaps taking in some high profile officers as prisoners.

Perhaps...if the Baelor allowed it. Then again the thought of terrorizing terrorists seemed much more fun and would be productive as it could potentially reveal more information and to return the favor for what they had done to Lady Baelor.

In the corridors and hallways of the compound, Lyle and the rest of his squad unleashed their wicked fury on their enemies. It was frightening. For the criminals. They had no idea what had hit them and by the time they could touch one or two pieces of the puzzle, they were lifeless and their eyes saw nothing. Just like they did when they were still alive and breathing.

-----------------------------------

There was only the two of them and Theo and the girl from the resistance decided to get the patrol some time before continuing toward the main city area. Once the force informed him the patrol had moved off and put some distance between them, did he allow them to go. They clung to the walls of the buildings the only form of cover afforded them and it had to do. In the distance, a plume of black smoke swirling in the air and the sound of fire cut the deadly silence of the city itself. The resistance had began their attack on the opposite flank, which provided Theo and the girl with a much needed distraction for the patrol.

Eventually they came to the edge of the piazza, through the force Theo could sense many people now and a healthy slice of fear from them. Looking around the corner soon told him why. They had been gathered in the center of the piazza, men, women and children all held at gun point by at least twenty troopers. Around the parameter five military vehicles each one armed with a heavy gun and it was very evident that this situation was their last resort if the resistance was to made head way in their direction. Sentient shields ..

Damn it. He looked over to the girl, his mind thinking about what they could do, just the two of them. There was little point to charging, that would would never work and foolish to say the least, although very dramatic. "We need to get close to that lead vehicle", he indicated to the right of them, for on top of it was the commander of the group. Then he thought of an idea that might .. might .. work. "If you could .. lure, those two troopers closest to us up this alley, we might have a plan".

I could see the smile through the man's broken visor. His eyes just had that look to them. Nodding his head, The man held his hands up and sheathed his weapons. I sheathed my own sword as it seemed we didn't need to have Thalia keep up on plan B. Either way, The man took off his helmet to see clearly. The blonde hair and the clean shaven face looked innocent, but still had the air of mysterious.

Holding his hand out, we shook hands and with a wave of his hand, the group that was behind him came forward. Walking behind us to the ruins.

"I must say, surprised to see a warrior of your calibur here. Why are you defending these ruins?"
"I would say the same about you fighting for them."
"A broken roof is better than no roof."
"Agreed. Take your men and find a place. We were trying to learn more about why this planet is so desolate."
"Will do. If you need any of us, let me know."

The man nodded his head and turned around to meet his men as they walked. I came to the ruins first. Thalia was already standing there shaking her head.

"Care to explain how the Emperor would feel if you just let vagabond troops into the Empires most guarded area without clearance?"
"Who said they were with the Empire?"
"Whoa. wait."

I continued to walk past her and back towards the section we were at earlier. Wanting to get back to work.

"What do you mean?"
"I do know people, and trust people who are not of the Empire. Alkor, The Mandalorians. Commenor. These people will be added to that. They leave of their own accord, but when I ask them to, they will aid me."
"What will the Emperor say about this? I mean, you did lose your rank because you decided to go ham on the Preator."
"It was a skirmish. No need for me to force them to be with the empire. Just stating that they owe me."
"Owe you a favor?"
"Instead of killing them, or forcing them to stay in one place, they leave with their name in tact. They are just at my beck and call now. Only difference."
"So? If any of the Royal family founds out, they will have your-"
"Head? no. I am loyal to the Empire. Sure, I am an ass, but I won't start a coup or make these men fight against the Empire."
"Well then what are you going to call them? Right now? just a group of pirates and vagabonds."

I took a moment to think about this. At first it was just strange to try and think of a name for people who I didn't yet officially command. The Chiss operative in the Iron Empire group I did command walked up.

"Atheus, What are we to do about the new group?"
"Let them keep their weapons. They will aid us for now."
"Yes Sir. We will add them to our efforts."

As he walked away, I turned my head to Thalia before getting back to work.

"I'll give them a name later."

The young girl gave Theo and incredulous look while handing over her rifle to him, but had realised his intention and so she stepped out and walked toward two troopers standing by one of the vehicles. She faked an injury to her leg, and limped toward them, “I can’t find my family”, she said as if disorientated “Where is my family”. She would receive no sympathy from them and both began to raise their blasters in her direction.

Theo stood ready if they open fired, he would immediate come to her aid, but she turned and began to run back to the alley. And the plan worked, they came for her and as they rounded the corner, Theo punched the first in the gut doubling him over before landing the final blow to the back of the head. The young girl positioned herself for the second trooper and round kicked him to the ground.

Once the troopers were subdued, “Quickly get into their uniform”. He would do the same and once kitted up, and armed they headed to the vehicle. The young girl would take charge of the gun while Theo made his way to the commander walking with purpose and met with no resistance. The commander stood issuing orders to the patrol, the resistance was making good head way but at the cost of many lives on both sides and they started their move toward the piazza. The commander was growing impatient, the want for information not coming to him and soon there would be open slaughter if it was apparent the battle was lost.

The people in the center, their lives in the balance, cowered in fear for they had little hope to fighting their way free, they would not stand a chance against the guns. “Commander, the patrol have found a group of resistance members and have disarmed and captured them, what are your orders?”. Theo asked as he approached and saluted the man. “Have them brought to me, I will make an example of them and send their bodies back to their leaders”. He said with a snarl and turned toward Theo.

“A fine plan indeed”, Theo began before the white blade of his saber ignited and before the commander could react, the blade rested dangerously close to his throat. “Or .. you and your men lower your guns and surrender now”. His voice lower, almost a whispers to the commander’s ear as Theo pulled him in a tight grip. “If not .. your head will roll in the dirt .. and that will be my example to your command”.

Thalia was not happy with me. I could feel it with my connection to the Empathy powers of the universe. She was down right upset with me that I was letting them go. Part of me wanted to reassure her that there would be no harm to the Iron Empire. Instead, I decided to go about this diplomatically. Turning to her, I then asked her a question.

"Thalia, If you were the ruler of Spathi, and you were in my position, would you want them to be put under your rule?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"I won their service. Why not join my Kingdom?"
"Not my question."
"Then what is the question."
"Why would you allow people who you do not 100% trust into your ranks, and into your city where they can scope out everything you own?"
"Oh..."

I nodded as a smile formed behind my mask. Thalia was slowly understanding why I didn't just bring them into the fold. THere was that, and another matter.

"I also have other reasons. These men could be used for my company. They could be useful as a strike team that is not affiliated with the Empire, so that if something were to go wrong, or if they were to be blamed, The Empire has no connections to it. At best, The connection is me, and Me alone."
"That makes a lot of sense."
"Understand young grasshopper?"
"Shut it old fart."

Chuckling a little, I walked over to the young woman, placing my hand on her shoulder.

"You are young. You still have much to learn. I can help you with that. So whenever you take over the throne, I will be there to aid you. Not just as a military advisor, but as a friend. Okay?"
"Thank you."

Nodding my head, I walked past her a bit then smacked her on the back of the head.

"Now come on, we need to find all the information we can before the fight is over on the other side of the planet."

If was difficult to tell how many of the resistance would be left to come to the piazza and take control of the center. Theo and the girl would have to move quickly before the advantage from taken from them. However, the Commander, like such cowards that hold others in the form of shields, buckled when his life was threatened and quickly issued orders for them to lower their weapons.

The young girl gathered as many as possible piling them to the side while the Lushiens looked around in disbelief uncertain of what was going on, they did not know whether to run else they be mowed down but one of them realise and soon stood up and directed them to held for the alleys and hide. Mayhem was about to break out when the sound of speeders approaching made them stop in their tracks and entering the piazza was the resistance and they took control of the area in a short space of time.

Only now did Theo lower is saber and shoved the commander toward two resistance members as they approached. "Take him and lock him up". He ordered while undoing the breast plate of the troopers armour. "You did well Heavenshield", the young girl said with a wry smile. "So did you", he grinned back, "You trust me now?". He smile widened. "Don't push your luck", she grinned in return.

Talos had captured the city and was spending his time directing the Legion in freeing the slaves he'd rescued. It wasn't a glorious victory like he'd desired, it fizzled by the end and he'd lost a lot of energy keeping up on the Meditation. Even so, he was proud of his Legion. They'd performed excellently. Only minor injuries suffored, and a Chiss commander captured in the process.

Talos had the radio operator call for pickup. He'd have them rendezvous on the riff with the prisoner in hand, leaving the city to its people. Little damage had befallen the city, leaving only small pock marks and a few hundred bodies that could be fed upon by the Vampyr. Hopefully his work in the city was enough to secure victory overall for the Emperor. This was the end of a long battle and the beginning of a momentary respite, surely before the next engagement.

As the dropships descended on the roof of the capital building, Talos ushered everyone on and made sure he was the last to depart this strange planet.
