He shouldn't have blown up his ship. Should have just retreated. He made that choice on his own. Now he has to find a way out.

Jinn had a ship on autopilot being shot at by 2 volleys of missiles plus the shuttle. That's enough damage to stop the suicide run being lethal.

And yeah, he chose to death charge rather than retreat.

Though having said that if he disabled the systems of this fortuitous x-wing, wouldn't his commandeered ship now be unable to function?
