From paper to steel

Gherron was exhausted from the night before, having participating in yet another swoop race. They were fun, but they always left him worn out. In his room at the Jedi temple, he watched as the sun began to set, an amazing sight he never got over. Sitting at his windowsill, his face was bathed in the soft glow that radiated from the giant ball of fire. It was definitely a nice feeling. Picking up his sketch pad, he flipped through a few pages of designs he had been thinking up. His most recent idea: a set of armor. More recent designs had him take it down to individual pieces, like bracers and chest plates. Fining the most recent one, he found himself looking at a chest armoring with designs covering the front. He was rather proud of this one, as it had taken him a little longer to think up.

Nala had heard of Gherron's return from the races and wanted to see how he was. She'd mainly been meditating throughout the day, finding more peace in it then she originally believed when she started training herself in it. But the prospect of Gherron's achievements was something else she was glad to look forward to hearing about. She came to his room and knocked before entering, saying "Gherron?" When she found him where he was she asked "How did the racing go last night?"

At the sound of Nala's voice, a quick smile came to Gherron's face. Quickly trying to hide his drawings, he said "Come in!" Rifling though his things, he finally found a place to stash the sketchbook, under his pillow. After this, he desperately tried to tidy up the place some in the few seconds it would take for her to open the door. When he was satisfied, he plopped on his bed and waited for her to come in to tell her the good news.

Looking about Nala had to ask "Gherron? Did you do something?" She still looked around and said "Because you're room seems cleaner. And you're not exactly one to keep things tidy all the time." She crossed her arms and waited to hear his answer.

She smirked and then grew into a smile at the news and said "Congratulations!" She walked over to hug him while saying "I'm so happy for you. How hard was it? Did anyone try to cheat? Any threats made against you? Because I will go up to whoever did right now and..." she stopped herself from rambling and said "So it was good then?"

Gherrn laughed and hugged her back. "It was awesome! Though it turned out that two other Jedi were there with me..." He grimaced a little as he said the words. "One of them was my master. I got in some serious trouble. I might have to report to the council later. The worst part? He's on the council!" He groaned and sat back down on his bed. As he did, the pillow was pushed aside to reveal the sketchbook.

She giggled a little and said "So is mine. But still at least you won. And I know how much you were looking forward to....what's that?" she asked pointing at the thing sticking out from under Gherron's sheets. It turned out to be the corner of the sketchpad he'd been using earlier thought she wasn't aware of that yet.

She gave him an coy look before suing the force to bring the book over to her. She kept it out of his reach as she looked through it, admiring some of the sketchings. "These are rather good." she said. "What's this one? Some kind of armor?"

As she looked through the book, Nala would not only see sketches of weapons and armor, but of people and places as well. There were fine drawing of tythoinan waterfalls, dozens of them. A few were of his last crush, a ghostling by the name of Aleidis Ijet. However, if she looked even past those, she would see a few unfinished sketches of herself. Gherron turned bright red. "Yea, I have a few armor drawings in there."

She looked down at him and smiled while saying "And a few of me too. Very good I'll admit, but next time ask me and I'll pose for you. The proportions on my head seem a bit off. But ehy hide this from me? I think it's rather good artwork. Better then I ever do."

(OOC: You don't know how tempted I was for her to find a picture of her nude in the book lol)

(OOC: I just lol'ed so badly just now)

Nodding slowly, Gherron was still beet red. "I was afraid you would see the pictures of Aleidis... I should have taken them out a long time ago, but just never did." He shrugged a little to himself. "I guess it doesn't really matter too much, but since we're... you know... I didn't know how you'd react."

She sighed before saying "Gherron, whatever relationship you've had in the past is in the past. If you still had such strong feelings for this girl you wouldn't have agreed to be with me. And I know you're not one of THOSE types of men either. So, really, you had nothing to worry about." Nala gave a quick peck on his cheek and smiled to reassure him.

Gherron smiled at her and gave her a close hug. She was right, the past was the past. Aleidis had moved on, it was time he did as well. Leaning in, he pulled Nala in for a kiss. "Thanks, that means a lot to me."

She returned his kiss and hummed a little with how nice it was. She was beginning to grow more and more used to his advances on her and, to be honest, she didn't mind at all. When they stopped she asked "Now what about this armor you were working on? Ever planning to go through with it?"

@[member="Gherron Vael"]

"Yea, but I'm not even sure if that's how I want it. I actually have a few designs here." He reached per and flipped to another page, this one with a full set of upper armor, minus the helmet. Like the other, it called for songsteel, but it was in a scale-like pattern. "I'm thinking of leaning more toward this one."

@[member="Nala Tu"]

"Very nice." she said, taking a closer look. "Well you could always try. Provided you have the right material and skills and all." looking to him she asked "Well? What do you say? Should we try?"

@[member="Gherron Vael"]

Nodding, Gherron pulled a very light, very shiny metal from his trunk, lifting the various pieces with apparent ease. "This is songsteel. Lighter than most metal, and very resistant to blaster fire and lightsabers. Though it won't survive very long if it's hit repeatedly with a lightsaber." He chuckled and hefted the bars of metal over his shoulder. "Picked it up on the last trip with my master. We'll be using this for the main armoring, with a fiber mesh underlay." He stopped for a second, hoping Nala understood his rambling about metals and mechanics and such. If she didn't, that would be pretty embarrassing.

She examined it while nodding to herself. She'd heard and read a lot about songsteel and it's resistance abilities and saw the potential for using it as an armor material. Looking to him she said "Go on."
