From paper to steel

"Oh I see." she said, realizing her mistake. "Sorry. You just seemed to know how to woo me is all so I thought you must've had some experience. What about the girl you had a relationship with before? Did that not go the same as as this?" she indicated the situation they were currently in.

"Eh.... No." He grimaced a little. The thought of it still haunted him, though he didn't know why. "You obviously don't know Aleidis if you have to ask. Ghostlings are very beautiful, but very fragile. She had to explain to me that a relationship would never work out physically for her. She even admitted she liked me, but we could never be. Though what I don't understand is that she's in a relationship now... I just don't understand." What he didn't tell her that Aleidis had happened to be in a relationship with her best friend, Codi.

"Perhaps she just thought you weren't the one." Nala suggested, putting a hand on his back to try and comfort him.

"Maybe." Gherron sighed softly. He hated that he still thought of her that way. If anything, he felt really guilty for doing this to Nala. It wasn't fair to her. As far as he knew, there was only one way to get his mind off of everything. Well, two ways actually, but one required him to be alone. "You wanna spar for a while?"

Nala was taken back a little by that request. However she began to think that perhaps humans, or maybe Jedi or even just Gherron, needed a little sparring to ease themselves. She nodded and stood before walking a little ways back from him. Standing ready she activated her lightsaber, the purple blade shimmering, and said "Don't worry. I'll try to be easy on you." with a smirk.

Gherron shook his head as he readied his own weapon, starting off in his Soresu stance. "Do me a favor. Don't." He drew himself inward, so much to a point that he felt the world around him with such intensity that he could've sworn he could easily touch the sparrow eleven feet above them in the tree. His lightsaber clicked on, and he prepared himself to strike.

Nala advanced first, going for a sweep to his right. After he would likely block she parried and returned with an overhead attack. During the entire time she kept her lightsaber on a non-lethal setting as to not injure Gherron too much whenever she landed a blow. The sparring brought her back to when she learned with her master and how the training with him went involving the same method of using the lightsaber. She hoped that when she was able to train her own padawan; provided she'd fully mastered it which she intended to prove with Gherron today.

Gherron didn't have a safety on his lightsaber. so he'd have to be careful. However, he was confident in his own abilities enough that he wouldn't hurt her. Easily bringing his blade up to stop the other from the right, then bringing it up over his head to ward off the second attack. To follow up, he dropped down and spun around with his leg stretched outward, aiming to trip Nala so she would fall backward. In case she did, he readied himself to catch her.

Seeing him trying to sweep her legs Nala jumped overhead and landed behind him. By the time he turned she gave a jab to his chest and then tried to swing down for his right shoulder. Provided he managed to block both attacks she then tried to do the same as he did to her, sweeping the legs out from under him.

Being as successful as he was in the art of defense, Gherron brought his lightsaber behind his head in a flurry, using the force to direct him as both attacks were blocked once again. Since his attention was focused on the lightsaber and not anything else, he fell victim to Nala's sweep. Falling face down, he landed on his nose with a thump. Instantly, he was almost kicked out of his own force concentration, giving him a small migraine.

Looking down and waiting until he got up, Nala bit look a bit embarrassed by what she did. She gave a little "Sorry." before saying "Well you did tell me not to hold back and all." trying to justify her actions.

"It's fine. Again." Ignoring the headache, Gherron ignited his lightsaber again, his eyes flashing with determination. At this point, he wasn't sure if the determination came from him wanting to forget Aleidis, or him simply entering a trance that forced him to want to go on. He had shown a similar emotion once when training with his master. No matter how many times he had been bruised and knocked down, he continued to get back up and fight again. Josh was forced to call it quits for fear of Gherron seriously hurting himself. Immersing himself into the force once more, he kept a level head and struck forward with a heavy amount of force.

Seeing the attack coming Nala blocked Gherron's blade, locking the two for a moment. She'd taken a step back from the impact of the attack but recovered in time to keep her stance. As she stared him eye-to-eye with thier blades locked she couldn't help but give a playful wink before using one free hand to knock him back with a push from the force.

Remembering his training from Syn, Gherron closed his eyes, focusing on the coming wave of force. Before he knew it, it had passed over him. His eyes radiated no emotion, and he began to press back against Nala with all of his strength. He had immersed himself to a point that he wasn't making decisions based on feeling, but on strategy.

Seeing this Nala had to give Gherron credit for being able to do that. It had taken her a while to master that ability. Breaking away from him she took a few steps back before rushing against and attacking with a flurry of swipes and jabs.

Gherron noticed Nala backing up, and wouldn't have it. Pressing even more forward, he blocked the first series of attacks, then used the force to knock her hand back, leaving her virtually defenseless. She exclusively fast, agile attacks, and little to no focus on defense. This left her open for any attack. Gherron sliced his saber at her neck- 'Wait!' The blade stopped mere centimeters from her neck, his eyes turning from black to their natural blue. And one emotion showed through: Fear.

Nala had closed her eyes when the blade came towards her. A moment later she opened to see it'd stopped and, thinking it was all part of Gherron's strategy, said "Well, looks like you..." she stopped when she saw into his eyes and saw the emotional change in them. "Gherron?" she asked, moving the blade away from her by pushing his hand aside.

Gherron slowly backed up, dropping his lightsaber as he shook his head. Once he was just three feet away, he turned around and ran, leaving the weapon behind. Sprinting into the streets, he tried all he could to escape the darkness he had shown. He was terrified of himself. He'd only shown that side of himself twice before, but it was worse every time. Then he saw a light. He figured it was a good thing- until it hit him head on. The speeder knocked him out instantly.

By the time Gherron recovered he would find Nala tending to the large wound he had on his head. She was using a hot water rag and dabbing it on the bump he had while saying "Easy now, Gherron. You had a bit of an accident. When you ran off you were hit by a speeder. You're lucky I found you in time and got you back here to the temple." He would look to see they were back in his room and on the nearest table was his lightsaber. "Why did you run away like that, Gherron? You had me so worried about you."
