Galactic One Sith Parliament

I like the idea and I feel like it will make for richer, more connected RP. Sometimes we take planets and they become just another blob on the map, but with senators in the Sith government, we can push the development of those planets, and tell stories around them.

We have some pretty big homeworlds for many of the SW races, Iridonia, Glee Anselm, Csilla. It would be nice to see people RP representatives of those homeworlds.

Kind of like what we're doing with the Chiss Ascendancy, but on a smaller scale.

No I think you misunderstand what I mean Sage. I am saying the few of us me, [member="Darth Venefica"], [member="Darth Pyrrhus"], go ahead and pick a planet in OS space and test run this idea.

If it works we mass institute it and let subsequent writers take up remaining Planets. If it doesn't take off then only one or two of us have really sacrificed anything in terms of character creation effort.

If that makes sense.

I'm envisioning grandiose mud-slinging campaigns, blackmail, corruption, bribery, unfortunate accidents... and many other, fun ways of coming into power. Why would we bore ourselves with elections?

If this idea does take off I imagine there would be a lot of treachery, assassination attempts, and all kinds of things.

But in the beginning just some good old "Field testing" of a Sith Senate idea.

I think if we can come up with a good format that gives some real purpose to a Political NFU character then we will not have a problem getting people on board or coming up with great purpose.

Even among Sith with Animus and Vengeance on opposite side of a Power Struggle for the Chiss throne.

With a Senate idea it creates as many of those has we have planets represented by PCs.

---->Assembly of the Sith Lords/Imperial Assembly: Run by the Wrath and convened via the Voices and Hands and Shadow. In this Assembly, the Hierarchy discusses matters of war, expansion, and dominion. This would be where the covert stuff is discussed, matters similar to an executive committee or war council - i.e. who do we bomb, when do we bomb them, and why does [member="Vrag"] wear her helmet everywhere? Specifically, this Assembly is dependent on the Parliament in that they require approval on guidelines within a specific time line. However, states of emergency, declared by a majority of the Assembly or through declaration by Wrath, can override the need to seek approval within the Parliament (this would likely occur during the need to shift capital or send defenses to a planet in time of immediate invasion)

----->Imperial Parliament: While technically a parliament, this senate would act similar in fashion to a democratic republic - representatives from planets within the domain would convene to discuss passed down regs or tactical strategy from the Assembly, and would be tasked with voting on the matter and/or countering with additional stipulations. On top of this, they are tasked with the representation of their governing body with the mission of doing what is best for either themselves or their constituents, in matters specific to state (infrastructure, localized issues, etc). Unless approved by the Assembly, all members of the Imperial Parliament would be NFU.

I believe the intention is to create opportunity within OS for a niche of chaos writers that we have not had before. Which is NFU non-military roles.

More akin to the Moff Council than Republic Senate.

Unless I am way off base in my understanding of this discussion.

First of this is an excellent idea! Been trying to get this going, with Imperial Diet idea, but of course I have been busy with IRL. I love the idea of more political RPing. We should have more IC discussion of campaigns, operations, legislations etc. Adds a flavour of actual business to the Empire.

I agree with [member="Darth Carach"], this is well thought out. However I, personally, never could see any Sith Empire old or future ever having a political structure except for the Dark Council. Of course, if this senate is like the ancient Roman senate then it will be an interesting concept with backstabbing or backroom deals against one another.

I am of the same opinion as well. But, if we are going to have a Dark Council lets at least make sure it is kept alive by relevant RP. Should have threads were hot and up-and-coming Knights/Empire personnel are summoned to the council to receive orders or to hear out their ideas. Or have Dark Council scheming threads. Again it adds to the flavour of the gears of Empire.

I like the ideas, in general, though I think it's important on wording. And I don't know if clan really works, though I think it's more important to focus on the duties/roles of each group and worry about their name later.

We gotta work on this like an upside down pyramid, stay broad and get into specifics as we go.

It's come to my attention that Senate or Parliament isn't Sithy enough.

We are mulling over such things as Convocation, Conclave, Synod, and Cabal for replacement of parliament.

Heheheh. I kind of agree, Parliament, Diet, Assembly sounds too Imperial - as odd as it sounds - now with the Imperial Remnant we should diversify our appearance from the various Galactic Empire wannabes.

I love an actual Dark Council. The only issue is it does not solve or NFU Army and Navy issues and still excludes a large character base from the OS in the realm of politics.

I would say we could meet in the middle and have the Hand/voice tier just be the Dark Council and still do your idea of calling people before it but still of the NFU lower tier of Planetary Governors.

The Dark Council idea is probably my favorite idea of it all. Mostly because I love the idea of x amount of Sith actually leading the others.

It's a staple of the Sith similar to a Dark Lord, so if we are going to have a Sith group, I say name it that.

I'll be more than willing to make RP in such a group.

I'd say simply make a new version of the DC by bringing in NFU's. Or, have the DC be half of the war council as a whole, with the otherside being NFU's.

I have an idea for the Navy and Military. For one I intend to have more Military Characters RP events, so the military folk have things to do that aren't just invasion/doms but actual Offensive Operations, Long Range Recon, Fighter Recon etc. give them actual missions Military grade missions.

Also want to make an actual Naval Command/Imperial Command, with a proper committee system so Admirals/Generals can have IC meetings and actual military bureaucracy.

I write Thanith Gumara so you know I am down for that of course. Different ideas are being tossed around here some that would even help solidify your efforts in that area. Particularly [member="Darth Ferus"] Idea about a possible inclusion of Senior NFUs in a new DC concepts, or half DC and half NFU war council.

I personally am willing to consider all ideas with open arms if it not only improves the faction but RP in general.

The Dark Council name leaves a very bad taste in my mouth thanks to it's previous incarnation during the Old Empire, of which it was a horribly ineffective government body riffled with stagnation and was thankfully abolished shortly after it's creation.

I'm 100% opposed to Dark Council becoming it's name.
