Going minor?

[member="Maria Natalja"] I feel that I did what was necessary, that is, asking the remaining player base first because the decision will ultimately be up to the player base. If we must go minor, the actual decision must not be made before the Kashyyyk invasion ends - any faction story that will lead us to this result will start based on the outcome of what happened on that planet.

It's not up to him or the other members of the faction administration, though.

When Kiskla wanted to go minor, membership decided against it and here we are. When Mantic wanted the HC to go minor, they decided against it and stayed on as major faction for a while afterwards. Point is, whatever the faction membership wants, that's where the faction will be headed.

All that being said, I hope you guys vote to stay major. The Mando Crusade has just started and it would be boring to see y'all drop out after just one invasion.

It will be far more amusing to see the faction being chopped up to bits and pieces over the next few months.

It'll be cathartic.
I was in GR when Kiskla recommended such an action. However if I remember correctly her original proposal was to merge with Omega and the option of going minor did not come up until the membership went nuts. I was a large voice in the WTF section.

On that end I find it largely irresponsible to think that the opinions of current faction leadership do not matter. The faction membership need the Leadership just as much as the leadership needs it's members.

Where Kiskla went wrong, at least in my opinion, was already getting the thumbs up to merge into Omega from the Omega FO before even mentioning the idea of it to the membership. We all felt pretty much betrayed in the understanding that she only took over as FO to hand the Faction over to Omega. I don't blame her and looking back when the dust settled considering the way I personally acted I wish I had told her no hard feelings and apologized for how hard on her I was about it.

Now as far as the point [member="Maria Natalja"] makes there is a logical way for GR to end. I just don't think it should be an OOC decision after one disaster of an Invasion.

We could ride this out organically. Maybe we fight the good fight and after losing another invasion or two have no territory left and the survivors go where they may. Maybe at some point the Republic once it's back is against the wall comes back out fighting like a possessed animal turning things around.

Of course the now very plausible idea that the Chaos Admins recall GR and force our hand OOC.

I am working on building bridges between groups/creating stories with all of my stuff for Commenor. Embassies from different factions are being built, and certain assets are being utilized. Basically, we are helping eachother. It's almost like an intergalactic UN. I am hoping that it'll help continue to spur the positive action that [member="Popo"] has spoken of time and time again. It's not in GR territory, but if the OS loses that section of space, it'll be up for grabs and the GR is the closest. But with other factions already having people on the ground there, it could be anyone's game.

Point is, I'm building it up as an avenue for our writers to take part and interact with other factions in a good way. I encourage others to do the same :) It's a lot of work, but it's worth it!

Ya'll people who got 'The Republic' tag should stop giving your OOC ideas about why you should or shouldn't go minor and actually help your faction that is being invaded.

Or don't, I don't care.

Gonna get merked either way.

Not all people are fighters. And there are more ways to help out a faction than just battling it out in an invasion.

I already made my post for it a couple of days ago. Everyone else was getting ready to defend the planet. In the meantime I am doing other stuff to help out. Everything doesn't get put on hold for an invasion ;) We are allowed to participate in other stories too.

The Mandos claim that their superior player base, superior ground technology and higher IC rate of ship production will virtually guarantee better storytelling...

While these things undoubtedly affect faction storyline in the long run, there is only so much these can do in an invasion taken individually.

Battle of Stamford Bridge. One man held up an entire army by himself through dedication and good tactical decision-making.

All it takes is one person in the right place at the right time doing the right thing. Not infinite numbers of overpowered, godmodded NPCs.

[member="Popo"] no the guy at stamford bridge got the point, and so did King Harold. Just I want my history correct, okay. :D
Also to be fair to saxon army they just marched 40 miles that day.

Now that is a story, the drums are coming.

Now that my alt in this invasion is acting like a Republican zombie haunting [member="Funky Balor"], while she originally wanted to haunt [member="Draco Vereen"], [member="Elaine Thul"] you may target Draco and the other non-surfing Mandos in the outer city as you wish. Just that, because the Mandos outnumbered us in terms of PCs, Jessica can switch targets so many times in relative impunity.

At least we did make *some* storytelling effort.
