GR Contract: Aurora Industries

"Of course and thank you for that" I said in response to her first statement.
In her pause I caught her eyes glancing at the ISDIII and a lovely soft smile appeared.
I was amused a little by and was about to comment when she asked of [member="Kista Fel"]
"Lady Kista Fel is well. Since her unfortunate abdication" I was careful with myself as I spoke. The memory of myself being strangled by the force by a drunken and depressed Kista who had spent the better part of several weeks locked in her throne room aboard the Herald. I still needed to mend the dents in that room. "Juggling mother hood along with committing herself to studying the force. As well as having gained a commission as a General in the Republic Military thanks to a certain someones political position," I gave a mischievous smile before continuing "In fact I had spoken to her earlier and she wanted to convey her good wishes to you as well as inquiry about acquisition of an Evakmar assault carrier. She is eager to inject our Imperial military ideas into the Republic's force organization"

"I'm sure we can come to some arrangement," she said, smiling slightly. Perfect segue into her next piece of business, well almost perfect. "We can place that in the contract between my company and the government, as I'm sure there would be several interested parties in a ship that can deploy a full corps onto a planet that requires military forces to be deployed on."

She wasn't sure how successful the integration of Imperial and Republic ideals would be, but she hoped it might get some traction. There was the worry that the Sith were going to take Togoria though. If the world fell, and she was pretty sure it would, the Republic would be cut in two and things would get much more complicated. She still didn't understand the reason for moving the capital to that speck of dirt known as Yutan.

"Shall we draw up terms?" she asked. Even if the Republic lost control of this sector, she knew that several influential Senators such as Caius and the Senators from Eshan and Kiribi would be active in preventing Sith forces into the region easily. "Perhaps once that is signed, you might be interested in something else I wanted to bring up at this meeting, but let's get the contract drawn up first."

"Of course! So we'll be submitting this as such let me know what you think"

With my data pad I spent a moment with my stylus priming the terms utilizing a number of preset sentences.
Once complete I simply dropped into the local cloud for her to pick up on her own datapad.

From my seat I looked out the viewport to gaze at the Herald and her grey hull and majestic tower.
It would take some time but the Republic's military high command seemed content to with losing ground and retreating further out into the galaxy.
The had been rumbling and rumor abound of the uncertainty of the Colonies zone of the galaxy that the Republic still held.
I was not looking forward to my trip to Yutan.
It was the latest of the Republic Military's outposts.
I and many of my colleagues were against the decision.
Regardless of what the future held I had entrenched myself here.

"With the times as they are I would suggest we build each one sequentially rather than all at once. It might attract to much attention in a short period of time."

Perusing the contract that appeared on her datapad, she looked up as he made his suggestion. It would make sense to phase in the shipyard operations, but the ground side things could be moved in as soon as possible.

"Perhaps we move shipyards in two at a time," she said. "Aurora Industries has significant defensive forces for our assets we can move into system to make sure the place is protected. Two at a time also means more people can be employed at a time, and lets production begin sooner and faster. I think, given recent developments, it might be best to get some more ships in system as soon as possible. Ground facilities and hiring can begin almost immediately I think."

I rose as she made the suggestion

"That sounds perfectly fine. I'll inform Chancellor Reagos that we'll mobilize the CDF to begin security operations."

I leisurely walked to the refreshment table to prepare another mug of tea for myself.

"I'll have Captain Zia and Commander Runo assist in operational control, the Herald's Fleet Operations Center can provide coordination for the overall security planning."

As went through what at this point was practically a ritualized motion of removing the lid so that I could empty the bag into the recycle container.
I tore into the wrapping of a new tea bag and gently dropped it into my mug.

"Now then. Aside from the contracts I suspect you've been wanting to take a look over the Herald of Retribution." I spoke while I prepared my tea.

Setting the steel container down I took the tea pot of hot water and poured slowly letting the rush of heated water flow over the and around the bag almost immediately submerging it.
Once filled to the appropriate level I put the lid back on the mug.

I turned around and made my way over to the view port

"If I was a betting man I would wager you were curious about its design as a source of inspiration?"

My gaze would settle on the Herald of Retribution's command tower.
A classic design aesthetically speaking but it was certainly an improved design internally.

"I'll have some of the Aurora Security fleet jump into the system within a few hours then, layout a security zone jointly with the CDF for the work area," Taeli said, getting up to stand next to Caius at the viewport. Beyond, the command tower for the Herald was visible, a throwback in design but modern in technology.

"You could say it would serve as a source of inspiration," Taeli said, setting her datapad down on the nearby table. "We've begun the planning and design stages of our next major ship design. We call it Project Luminence." With a touch of the Force, her datapad began projecting an image of the ship her engineers had designed.

"As you can see, we have the basic hull design ready, but I was hoping to get a tour of your ISDIII to observe some of the other systems on board," she continued saying. "And I'm prepared to make the Carida system, as long as it stays safe, the shipyard of choice for the construction of these ships."

I kept my gaze on the Herald then looked beyond here as though searching for where was once the Remnant. I sipped my tea and then moved to take a closer look at this new vessel. As always the arcane use of the force was still something that baffled me.

"Your design looks very much like a mini Assertor Dreadnought."

I could tell from the scale of the vessel that it sat somewhere around 1800 meters in length and likely sat at stout 425 meters in height. Slightly smaller than an allegiance but with a lot more turret mounts. Likely focused most of its energy into its turreted systems rather than incorporating a number of limited fire arc weapons. I could only imagine its power draw to support such a vessel.

"Taeli, I appreciate your offer, however I would advise caution. One does not need the force to see that the darkness that looms so closely may seek to lay claim to these worlds. We will resist at all costs. But I would surmise to say that prototyping this vessel here would not be best course of action. Then at your other sites perhaps go to full production. The Remnant failed to keep Valc safe from plunder, albeit it was from the Primeval and the Sith themselves who had come to our gates."

[member="Caius Flavian"]

"The prototypes would be built at our secure shipyards in the Centrality," Taeli laughed. "No enemy force can reach the Centrality or our prototype yards without us knowing they're coming first. Benefits of only one stable hyperspace route through the area. If Carida and the surrounding systems are able to resist the One Sith, they would be constructed here along with our shipyards at Saleucami."

Valc was still functioning as an Aurora site, but Taeli had relegated it to only producing their oldest models and technology as a precaution when the Remnant had fallen. Most Aurora operations were in the former Foundry of the Confederacy or in the Centrality now, far away from any enemy force that could possibly attack in strength.

"I think, Caius, the planets in this region might be in for a respite from an attack," Taeli said. "Plenty of fight still left in this sector of space hmm?"

"Fantastic then. Certainly so, at this rate Carida will be a fortress system assailable only by the strongest or those fool hardy enough to dare"

I dashed away my slight fears and returned to the matter at hand and business contract.

"Now then I presume you are fine with the terms then of the contract? With this ship of the you desire to construct I have to ask what led to the decision to settle on a vessel of that size? Considering the shipyards themselves are capable of up too 3000 meter length vessels."

In my mind the ISD series were of 1600m length, 400m height, and 900m wide at the engines. A vessel of 1800 meters in length probably still squatly sat at 400 meters in height and just a little chunkier on its width.

I could only imagine the price tag for these in terms of production.

Although prefabrication being a standard practice I deduced that with these shipyards Aurora could very well achieve an effective rate of production. A new breed for the Ship of the Line.

[member="Caius Flavian"]

"We want to develop a new main Ship of the Line," she explained. "We have our current big heavy hitter in our Bastion-class Star Destroyer, and eventually we will make new one, but I wanted us to develop something more... mainstream. Like what the original plans were for the ISDIII before all that unfortunate business with the invasion of Remnant space."

"Plus," she continued, "as I'm sure you have guessed, we have a streamlined way to get production up and running quickly with our new shipyards. But yes, the terms of the contract are acceptable to me. Carida will be a flagship for industry in this sector by the time my company is done with it."

She added that last with a smile, as she was sure that was something Caius would love to hear. Gone were the days where her company was a small tier II operation. Now, they were just as big or even bigger in terms of facilities than KDY, even if the name recognition wasn't there yet. Still, more growth was required before they could play at an even higher level of the game.

I was certainly pleased!
"Fantastic! I am hoping to generate some domestic warships at some point as well so I look forward to these shipyards and certainly am excited for the Luminescence"

A distinct ping at my desk indicated that I had a priority message coming through on the Republic's senatorial network.
A sigh would escape my lips as I was immensely enjoying the non political company.
Reluctantly meandering to my desk I gave a tap on my datapad to see what beheld me.
I was apparently needed to review our spending on the Republic's latest forward outposts at Yutan.

"Well my dear Taeli, It appears my other work is going to pull me away from giving the Herald of Retribution a personal tour. I'll have Commander [member="Kara Runo"] provide you a technical tour of the ISDIII along with some of its design features. I'm certain she might give some blunt critique on the design. You'll have full clearance in the next half hour to see anything you need too of that classic beast."

I turned back to her as I spoke.

Taeli gave a small nod as Caius moved back to his desk, the resigned feeling she registered in the Force told her all she needed to know about what the datapad had just pinged about.

"I think being a Senator might be more hassle than being an Imperial commander or Moff hmm?" Taeli asked, an amused smile on her face. "I thank you for your time and for allowing me the chance to tour the Herald. I'm sure your Commander Runo will give me a very thorough and lengthy explanation on the Herald and her thoughts on its design."

Taeli was very interested in viewing aspects of the ship such as the weapon decks, shield systems, and especially the proton beam weapon she knew ISDIIIs had available to them. This particular ship, probably one of the last in the galaxy, would need to be carefully observed by her.

Heh it was odd but I was certain that the Jedi had likely discerned my mood thanks to the force. I simply chuckled and made no comment since she probably didn't need the force with simple intuition on my views of being part of the Republic's bureaucracy.
"[member="Taeli Raaf"], it is always a pleasure! Feel free to drop me a line or stop by any time! My office and the appropriate government departments will get in touch with your representatives to further this endeavor. If you are able to chat Captain Zia up I'm certain she'll be more than happy to demonstrate the combat systems of the Herald."

I gave that suggestion knowing full well that the the intrepid commanding officer loved to show off her warship.
I made my way back to her and put out to shake a farewell.
