Grand Teth Auto! [Red Ravens Dominion of Teth]

Logan nodded at her words, wordlessly moving into a position by the wall to make step with his hands to help throw her up onto the roof. Although he did not voice his thoughts to her, he agreed. The silence of this back alley was eery and just not right. He looked to his left, and then his right as he waited. He fixed his gaze back to Kiera and he saw something out of the corner of his eye. He quickly swung his head to face the direction, but whatever it was had gone. He shook his head, trying to jar himself back to reality. Now was not the time for his mind to be playing tricks on itself. He beckoned for Kiera to hurry, so that she could be lifted up onto the roof and then help pull him up.

As Keira made her way toward him, movement in his peripherals caught his attention again. About 50 yards down the alley way 3 of Dredges ghouls stood in the entrance to the darkness that Logan and Keira inhabited for the time. They cast long shadows down the alley, the light behind them making them appear as if they were 20 feet tall beasts. Logan swore and yelled at Keira, "Quickly! Up!".

Location : space near the enemy fleet
Enemies: Black Suns, [member="Dredge"]
Allies: Red Ravens, Mob that stormed the shipyards

As he closed in the gap on the enemy vessels, his sensors began blaring out warning signals as the fleet of ships he was leading was fired upon. Those who weren't quick or agile or smart enough to raise their shields were turned into crimson blossoms of flames and scrap metal by the mass driver thrown projectiles hurled their way.

Weaving his craft through the enemy fire, his ship shuddered occasionally from a near miss or a nearby explosion, but he closed in the gap. Daxton was soon beneath the arc of the enemy weapons as he cut loose with shots of his own. The quad lasers spat purple colored electric death and explosions where they struck on the Wanga Class vessel.

Pulling his ship into a sharp turn, the Sith prepared to make another attack run, this time across the bridge of the enemy vessel.

As the Graug advanced on Cryax, he struggled violently but to no avail. The creatures were simply much stronger physically than the lanky Chiss. Immobilized by the Graug with a knife in his hand and a Pau'an boy hanging over it, his delicate grey flesh pressed to the blade, Cryax squeezed his eyes shut. He couldn't stand the sight of the boy's large watery eyes filled with so much terror. The Chiss couldn't help but muse darkly that the boy had likely been savaged so mercilessly by the creatures alrready, that maybe death would be a sweet release for the youngling. Then he was jolted from that thought by Dredge's words, asking him for some kind of response. Smart-assery had only gotten Cryax whipped, so he tried another tactic.

"Look, uh, Lord Dredge." Cryax forced a grin as he used the title he felt would please the creature. "I'm a rich Chiss. The Red Ravens would pay you handsomely for their President's return. What say you strike a little bargain with them? We own half the Outer Rim after all." Well here maybe he was exaggerating a bit, but he had a point to make. "However many credits you want for me, you name it. Just don't make me kill a youngling, ok?" The last sentence he said with almost a sob.

He looked up at the struggling boy with a furrowed brow and winced at his horrific screams. "Come on, Dredge. Tell Ugly and Uglier here to put the kid down and let's talk a business arrangement, shall we?"

There was a momentary pause where Keira glanced to the creatures before pushing her palm out towards them, sending a burst of the Force out that would either knock them backwards or at the very least distract them, though she didn't wait around to see which was the result. Instead she boosted herself up onto the roof with Logan's help, pulling herself up over the ledge and crouching there, reaching down with a hand to help pull him up. She glanced to the mouth of the alley where the ghouls were beginning to regroup, muttering a curse. "Couldn't get away without a few friends, it seems. It just wouldn't be the same otherwise." The three at the end of the alley were advancing slowly, much slower than she'd imagined they would, but she supposed they were just toying with them. That was fine, because it gave them a chance to get away.

So far this wasn't turning out to be their day, on any front. Countless were either dead or missing in action, thanks to the Vong and Rakghouls that had arrived without warning. But right now their focus was getting to the Roadhouse, preferably in one piece.

Dredge and every single Yuuzhan Vong and Graug started to laugh almost hysterically. Money?! Did they really think Dredge wanted money?! It was a comical bit of defiance and it was definitely the wrong answer to give to Dredge. The laughter went on for a few moments and then it faded out and Dredge spoke "What did I tell slave? Slave is not rich anymore, slave is not powerful, all slave is just another piece of meat with information that I really don't care if slave gives it to me or not." Dredge no longer called him you, to Dredge he had no name. He was just like any other worthless slave upon the ship. Soon his glamour would fade and his morals would crumble until he was an obedient thrall.

"Kill the boy slave, I command it of slave." Another Graug strapped to the right of Cryax and grabbed his head peeling open his eyes placing his gaze to fall upon the boys. They say eyes are the windows to the soul, that you can see almost past them into something more. This however was the case for Cryax, he could see the boys fear, his sadness and despair. He saw how much he missed his family and how badly he wanted to cling onto life itself. But all those emotions were replaced by raw pain the Graug and Yuuzhan Vong chuckled and pushed Cryax forward inch by screaming inch allowing the blade to pierce the child's heart slowly. The boys screams and kicking feet soon began to slow and stopped completely after a few moments only to hang there limply and dead.

It was over, the boy hung there dead on the blade Cryax held and there was going to be no deal made. There would be only Dredge giving commands and the Slave following them. Dredge laughed and had Cryax set down, he allowed him to keep hold of the knife hoping that he would embrace his hatred, that he would strike down one of his men. It would be a very good step in the right direction. "That was entertaining slave, well done." He said chuckling softly

The adrenaline surged through his body as it had so many times before. He did his best to throw Keira onto the roof and he sighed with relief as she scrambled her way up on top and reached down to help him. She had sent out some sort of force wave or something. Logan couldn't exactly tell as his force skills were exceptionally poor as he had never received formal training. He was sensitive, yes, but he held no grasp over it. Regardless, it had seemed to distract the three ghouls for only a second before they slowly shuffled toward them. An odd behavior for them, but Logan didn't complain. He jumped backwards and ran at the wall full speed, jumping toward it and pushing off, grabbing at Keira's hand with his own. He grunted with exertion as he grabbed her forearm with one arm and the top of the wall with the other. He quickly pulled himself up, pulling on the wall the most, taking what ever help Keira offered him.

He chuckled softly as he lay on top of the roof, his chest rising and falling slowly. He shook his head slightly as he pushed himself to his feet, adjusting the rifle on his should and the blaster at his hip. Once both were in a secure position and the straps were tightened he took the blaster in his hand and started running over the roof tops, Keira in tow. It wasn't long before they had reached the end of the row of houses and were forced with a decision. Go around, jump across the street (a viable choice given Keiras force abilities and Logan's Jet pack) or to fight their way across. He voiced these choices to Keira and waited to hear her thoughts.

The evil laughter around him made the Ravens crime boss's face grimace, but Cryax didn't have much time to file a complaint because right after Dredge's degrading speech, the Graug holding the Chiss pushed his arm upwards, forcing him to plunge the knife right into the child's chest cavity. Cryax heard a sickening squish as the blade penetrated the boy's heart. He squeezed his eyes shut, willing his mind to crawl deeper into the recesses of his denial. This couldn't be happening. He was dreaming all of it, right? He opened his eyes just in time to see the boy just hanging lifelessly in the arms of the Vong, his eyes bulging, head lolled to the side.

Chest heaving, the Chiss looked down at his blood-soaked hands which still held the gore-covered knife, and stifled a sob. Then the Graug released him, leaving him armed and unrestrained. Dredge's instincts about the Chiss would be correct. The act he was just forced to commit drove him into a blind rage, his glowing red eyes flashing menacingly. Without missing a beat the Chiss threw himself at the Vong, shrieking curses in Cheuhn, and drove the blade right into his belly, twisting in and up, gutting the creature like a stuck pig, just like he'd done to a Warlord on Ozzeraus. Once the creature slumped to the ground, Cryax straddled him and stabbed over and over and over again. Not stopping until the creature's midsection was a soupy pulp of blood and organs. Only then, did he stand, backing up a few paces away from the body, wiping the Vong's blood out of his eyes, the entirety of his blue-skinned face now covered in a deep shade of red.

He stared up at Dredge who still wore an evil smirk on his face, and panting with blue-black hair hanging in his face, simply said, "That was fun. I could do that all day."

Dredge watched in in amusement laughing and smiling as the child died, he grinned and sat back petting the dragons massive muzzle. Then he watched the chiss plunge further down the dark side, he eviserated his Yuuzhan Vong worker and turned him into a mess of gore and death. Dredge laughed loudly and smiled brightly clapping his hands applauding the chiss. Dredge cared little about money or answers, he was just having fun with watching the chiss squirm. "Good slave! I'm glad slave could put on such a show." Dredge rose from his throne slowly and began to descend down steps, his eyes focused on Cryax like a predator hunting its mark.

"However there is a problem slave, slave said I." Dredge said with amusement in his voice. "There is no more I, there is no more Me, there is only Slave. And I'm going to drive that point home." Dredge motioned back to the Graug with the flogger and before he could even give a vocal command the searing blades of pain cracked and the Graug began to whip at Cryax again and again to emphasize his lords point. "I AM NOT THE BLACK SUNS I AM NOT SOME WEAK CRIMINAL WHOSE LIVED PAST THEIR PRIME!! I WIL RIP TEAR AND GOUG EVERYTHING SLAVE HOLDS DEAR!!" Lifting an arm dredge pointed it towards the line of children and hit fire spewed from it roasting four of them in place turning their bodies into flintch ing and cowering forms of black and burnt flesh leaving only two alive.

"I AM DREDGE!!" The Yuuzhan Vong overlord came within six feet of Cryax and spoke more this time in a more calm tone. "Now slave, I'm going to give slave a choice. Kill the one on the left, or I start working my way up Slave's body until slave is a dying sack of puss." He said with all of the range and anger he could muster up into a cold and deadly tone. Dredge was not fooling around and he was having a ball

[member="Cryax Bane"]

When Dredge advanced on him, Cryax slowly backed up, shaking his head, knife still gripped tightly in his hand. As cocky as he'd just been after gutting the Vong warrior, he was still deathly afraid of Dredge himself. The creature was much bigger than his Vong minions and the Chiss had no doubt the Vong monster could shake the life out of him until he was a limp blue doll. As Dredge got closer, Cryax came more unglued, shaking uncontrollably, his glowing red eyes darting around for an escape.

Then the bladed whip came cracking towards him again sending his body into spasms of pain, his already torn skin flayed, wounds reopening. The Chiss's anguished screams echoed through the chamber. But worse than the whipping or Dredge howling in his ear was the act that the overlord wanted him to commit, this time without the help of the Graug or Vong. He shook his head over and over again as he watched in horror as a row of children turned crispy, their charred bodies collapsing to the floor.

"I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't." the crime boss stammered. There was no way the Chiss could kill an innocent child. He was a hardened criminal with an edge of psychopathy to him, but even Cryax had his limits. He dropped the knife and it clattered to the floor. Then he fell to his knees sobbing with his hands over his face, caked on blood starting to crack and flake. His pleas began slowly and softly and then their volume increased to a crescendo. "Please, Lord Dredge. Don't make me do that. Just kill me instead. Please, just kill me. DON'T MAKE ME DO IT! JUST KILL ME ALREADY! PLEASE, JUST KILL ME!"

[member="Dredge"]

Dredge roared in anger at the chiss who groveled before him, he was pathetic. A worthless excuse of a slave and he should of been killed then and there, but that was too easy. He needed to suffer more, so much more. Dredge lifted his hand letting fire drip from it, and in anger he bellowed out "SLAVE IS WEAK!!" Fire blasted from his hands and fried the remaining two children in a woosh of fire and brimstone. Dredge kicked Cryax down and sneered at him letting his freshly wounded back rub against the hard floor. "HOLD HIM!!" Dredge commanded of his men and they quickly sprung into action. Grabbing Cryax and pinning him as they spread his limbs out as if he was making a snow angel. Dredge walked over to him and looked down at him his red eyes glaring he gave him a sick twisted smile and bent down to speak softly

"I'm not going to kill you slave, no that's too easy, you are going to live with it. You are going to spend every waking moment in sheer agony. I will haunt your dreams, I will be your unmaker. You are a worthless little wretch." Pausing for a moment Dredge smiled and gently ran his hand through Cryax's matted black hair. "Actually I rather like that name, Wretch. From now on you will be wretch, my personal little queen." Dredge stood up and addressed his minions "AND WHATS A WRETCH WITH TWO LEGS!?" He asked his crowd of Graug and Vong. Getting back a steady chant of growls and roars Dredge laughed and pulled the sith sword from his back. The massive bone blade began to glow red hot as he funneled his rage into it.

Moving to the side Dredge gave out a howl and looked at Cryax once more in the eyes. "You can have this back when you are good." With one more deafening roar Dredge brought the sword down dead center of Cryax's knee. Dredge held back a bit of strength and the blade shattered the knee cap ripping half way through the flesh to make the experience all the more painful. With another blow he severed the knee at the joint completely burning the wound shut so he wouldn't bleed to death. Dredge laughed and picked up the severed leg to throw it into the crowd. The Graug pounced on it and began to feast on Cryax's leg. Looking to his men he chuckled and spoke "Take him back to his room, let him crawl. Every time he stops flog him and salt his back." Dredge looked down at wretch and kicked him in his side with enough force to shatter bone before walking away to deal with other matters

At his quiet laugh Keira only smiled and shook her head, following after him across the rooftops. They were beginning to cross into the part of the city that had been all but levelled by the invading creatures, and there were still a number on the streets that would like nothing better than to tear any wayward survivor limb from limb. If she had her way, they wouldn't get that chance. Things were still relatively quiet, which still didn't sit well with her. With everything that had gone wrong that day, she'd expected them to be followed across the roofs as well, if only for a short time. But she couldn't complain too much. Especially considering they'd made it away unscathed thus far.

The choices posed to her didn't give her pause, however, as to her, there was only one good idea out of the three options. "I didn't have a fight to the death in mind, so jumping across would be our best bet." Here she flashed a smile, attempting to lighten the mood, however unsuccessful the attempt might have been. "But if you insist, I've been wanting to see how well their armor would hold up against my lightsaber. I think it'd be a learning experience for the both of us." As she spoke she judged the gap between the roof they were currently standing on and the one across the street, finding it viable for a jump.

"See you on the other side?" Flashing another smile she took a few steps back from the edge, exhaling slowly before taking off at a run and releasing the Force energy she'd gathered in her legs at the same moment of her jump, allowing her to clear the gap and land neatly on the other roof with no more than a roll on impact. Once she stood she studied the streets once more before turning to look across their path, deeming it clear, looking back to Logan across the gap, waiting for him to make his way across.

As she flew across the street and grin broke his face and he went to take a few steps back as well. "That's cute." he said to himself as he started running, a crazy laugh escaping his lips as he jumped off the roof of the building, activating the jetpack at the height of his jump. The flame spewed out the pack, carrying him up and across the gap. As he glided across he took a few shots at the vong bellow. He hit one in the head and it crumpled to the floor without another movement. The other few shots glanced off the ground doing no harm to anyone. As he neared the edge the pack sputtered and he started to flail wildly in fear of falling below to his sure death. He dropped several feet, almost parallel with the roof now before the flame kicked back and he reached out to the ledge as he soared the last few feet to safety.

His body slammed into the roof of the building, knocking the breathe from him. He clawed at the roof in vain as he slipped slowly down, only managing to pull a dagger from his belt and stab it furiously into the roof, using that to hang there as he teetered on the edge of death. He swung for a moment before he used all of his strength to grab onto the edge of the building and push himself up over the edge. He flopped onto his back and just laid there for a second. Without getting up he look at Keira, grinning like an idiot as another laugh escaped his lips. "That was a wild ride."

Cryax didn't know what he expected. Of course his disobedience was going to make Dredge kill the children anyway. But at least he didn't have to live with that guilt on his head. Cold comfort, he thought as a ruthless kick from the Vong overlord knocked him off his feet and sent him sprawling painfully to the ground. Then he felt himself held by his limbs, splayed out by Dredge's minions. With the terrible creature hanging over him, running its claws through his hair, Cryax turned his face to the side, squeezing his eyes shut, unable to look into the Vong's beady eyes. He felt Dredge's hot breath in his face as he gave the Chiss his a new pet name, and Cryax almost spit at the creature, but held himself back with all of his will, fearing a fresh round of lashes.

Then, almost in slow motion, Cryax saw the enormous bone blade being lifted and brought down on his good leg, slicing through flesh and bone with a sickening thwack. The Chiss howled in pain. The second blow nearly caused him to faint. He longed for unconsciousness as the hot blade seared against his skin, cauterizing the wound. As the Graug fought over Cryax's leg, gnawing on it like rabid dogs with a turkey bone, the Chiss was dropped to the ground and kicked by Dredge once again, his rib cage breaking with a dull crunch. He rolled over onto his side and lay there in a fetal position until he was kicked into moving.

As Dredge walked off, Cryax was forced to crawl down the corridors with the Vong and the Graug roaring in his face and goading him the entire way, and making generous use of his new pet name, Wretch. He was bleeding and broken, one leg severed. It took a painstakingly long time. More than a few times, he passed out in the middle of the corridor and was flogged back into consciousness by Dredge's minions. Once he'd finally arrived at his destination, a journey that took a few hours, he was unceremoniously tossed inside a cold dark cell that smelled like hell's sewers. Snickering with glee, Dredge's minions salted Cryax's shredded back a few more times just to hear him scream until his voice finally gave way, and then awaited their next orders from their master.

Once he'd begun falling off of the roof her first instinct had been to reach out with the Force to hold him in place and perhaps pull him up just a bit, at least until he could gain his own footing on the rooftop. But that proved an unnecessary thought, once Logan made his own way onto the building, laughing again with a grin on his face. The sheer tension of the situation seemed to dissolve just a bit in that moment and she found herself smiling and laughing as well, crouching next to him. "It would probably be best to see if your jetpack is in working order, next time. But it's nice to see you've joined everyone on this side of our little world." The entire gravity of where they were and who was on the planet lifted just a bit, and Keira was thankful for his company. Just being around someone else helped with things.

After a moment she stood, offering a hand to help pull him to his feet. Talking was all well and good...when their lives weren't in possible danger by staying put in one place for too long. As much as the both of them might have hated to admit it, the danger of things was very real. Just because they weren't being attacked right at that moment didn't mean that they wouldn't be eventually, and she wasn't too keen on staying around on the rooftop just to wait and see who would pay them a visit. With her other hand straying to the lightsaber at her waist, she offered him a friendly smile.

[member="Logan of Little Coruscant"]

Logan nodded at her words and accepted her help in silence. He grunted and looked down at the screen on his wrist, sighing softly. "We've hardly made any distance. Let's show these ghouls the meaning of haste." Without waiting for her response he started in an all our sprint toward the coordinates given to him by Cryax. As he ran he thought about the slicer, unsure where he had gotten to and if he was alright. It pained him to admit it, but he wouldn't be half the leader Cryax was if the nerdy man died on him. He glanced over his shoulder and realized how slow and caught up he had gotten for the last minute or so. He snapped his head forward, pouring all of his energy into running. A rhythmic thud accompanied him and Keira as they ran, their boots making the same repetitive noise over and over again as they slammed against the hard roofs.

Before long they reached another cross street and without waiting this time he launched himself off the building and thankfully landed on the other side without incident. Stumbling forward as the force from landing jarred through his body, he looked over his shoulder to "check" on the Rogue Jedi.

A hour passed and nothing came of Dredge or his Graug or Yuuzhan Vong warriors. However a new threat came into play, through the grates above the Chiss' call the slick and slimy tentacles of Yammosk oozed down from ceiling above spilling bits of viscous goo onto Wretch. The tenticles moved slowly and softly to go unnoticed until they reached the back of Wretch's head. They wrapped around it and seeped into his ears and around his head to begin the psychic attack that would mark the beginning of a significant fact. No matter where he was, no matter if he was awake or asleep, Dredge was there to make his existence hell.

The nightmare began as so

The chiss' mother sat on her death bed in a warm room crying and holding her sons hand. By the looks of things she was very ill and frail, gaunt and dying. Her voice was weak but she spoke out the best she could "Son." She said before coughing and wheezing slightly. "I need to tell- to tell you something." Her grip on her son's hand tightened a bit not to the point of pain but to emphasize she needed to tell him something important. The beeping of the monitor kept going in a steady cadence and the ill chiss woman coughed again snd continued to lay in her death bed holding her sons hand. "I just need you to know something before I die." She said in a sweet yet ill grandmotherly voice. All around the chiss he could see nothing of a hospital but of a warm and cozy room where his mother laid down to rest until the end. She did not look old at all, but rather very sick. It was a haunting moment yet almost peaceful do to the lack of death and screams

Jolting out of sleep, Cryax, disoriented and confused, suddenly found himself in a hospital room. Instinctively his eyes flashed down to his legs, which were both intact to his relief. Perhaps the nightmare was over and this was reality. He was unsure of anything anymore. Blinking his eyes savagely he stared at the figure in the hospital bed, his late mother who he hadn't seen in years. The sight of her caused him to instantly break, tears rolling down his cheeks, heaving sobs. She looked so frail and thin, and he could only stare at her helplessly. He found himself grateful to hear her voice again, however her condition, and he squeezed her hand in return.

Outside the hospital room, the skies were blue and clear, and the whole room was bathed in natural soothing light. But something was off, Cryax just couldn't put his finger on what. Something scratched at the back of his mind with its ragged claws, nagging at him, a concept just out of his grasp. His brain was too addled to put it all together. Then his mother spoke to him.

"I'm here Ma," the Chiss said, between sobs. He wiped his eyes in an effort to show his mother that her son had grown into the confident young man that she'd hoped. Not the scrawny kid who had gotten beaten up in school everyday. "Your boy is here now." He ran his fingers along her cheek in an effort to comfort her. "What is it that you want to tell me?"

Taking this as a moment to show off more than anything Keira flipped once in the air, landing lightly on her feet next to Logan with a slight smile, studying the surrounding area for a moment. "In our defense, we've had a few distractions here and there. They've been a lot less busy killing every living thing in the vicinity. Survival tends to take some time." She exhaled slowly, taking this as a moment to center herself once more on the task at hand as her mind began to stray to idle thoughts, none of them necessarily pleasant ones.

A slight frown found her lips as her thoughts strayed to Cryax. His strategy to allow them a quick getaway hadn't been one of the wisest strategic maneuvers she'd seen, and a dark feeling accompanied that thought. If he'd arrived at the Roadhouse before them, as he'd indicated that was where he was going to meet them, their comms would have gone off by now. It was more than likely that he'd either been sidetracked or captured, the latter of which she didn't want to think about. If the ghouls were capable of this level of carnage in mere minutes, she didn't want to think about what they could do given time. "Once we get there, let's check on a certain Chiss, huh? He should have been there by now. I don't like this silence."

Something told her he was having much of the same thoughts, though she didn't elaborate further on the subject. They still had the rest of their trip to relative safety to focus on, and too much of a distraction wouldn't help them arrive any more quickly. But she wanted the both of them to be aware of the risks to other parties that were to be had as well. Once they arrived, her focus would switch instantly to the safety of an old friend.

The frail sick woman coughed and buckled a bit before turning her head to the side to face Cryax. "I wanted to tell you-" she coughed again and smiled when her son comforted her. "I wanted to tell you that I always loved you. That even when your father left us you made me so proud." A tear rolled down her face and she clutched her sons hand tight as more tears streamed down her frail face. "Watching you grow was the best thing that has ever happened to me. Seeing you here as the man you are today I can't tell you how happy I am." She coughed again and did her best to sit up in her bed. Her monitor spiked a bit and she willed herself to a position where she could see her sons face better. "I don't have very long son. I need to say this." She coughed and sputtered a bit and looked straight into his eyes meeting his with her own fading dim reds.

"Mommy loves you, mommy loves you so so much. I'm so scared, I'm sssoo scare-" the heart rate monitor spiked and the terminal sounding continuous beep went off. Her head lolled to the side and her body relaxed. She was dead, her hand fell limp in his own and Cryax was left in his room alone holding the hand of his late mom.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Cryax clutched at his mother's limp hand as she took her last dying breath. "No, please don't go Ma." pleaded the young Chiss, who was barely just out of his teens himself and still unaccustomed to so much death and destruction. It was pure agony to be reunited with her, to finally hear how proud she was of him, and then have it wrenched away from him in a flash.

His body wracked with sobs he continued to hold her limp hand even after she passed. In the back of his mind, he knew that his mother had died once before. And at the time he was stuck in Wild space with a scavenger group called the Collectors. Her son was unable to make it home to Bakura in time, an event which was a source of great guilt and shame for him. He ached with the knowledge that he could have done better for his mother. He could have been a much better son. Especially after his father had left her.

Crumpled on the bed, he simply lay next to her. He took her lifeless hand and moved it so that it gently rested against his cheek. Then, eyes closed, he stayed there like that with her until his tears were dry.
