Heart of Darkness

"Im sorry, explain? What do you mean by that?" She turned her head on him, very curious by the statement that he had just uttered, not understanding its relevance to the situation.

"I mean that it's a good thing to try an' figure out what you should be, what you should do, yeah? But the things you know, the consequences you're bound up in, all that mess is way more important, has more repercussions, needs more attention from those of us who have some idea what the big picture looks like. Which is why I say it's so important that you come with me."

She sighed once more and looked back at her research and bent down to look through it quickly before looking back at him. "If i come with you then i ask of you one thing, i need something back from the Sith and until i get it back things will never be... right for me, i need to know that i will be allowed to leave with the Force still intact... its far more important than you can understand."

They reached the bottom of the valley in a relatively short time. She had various individuals start recording various glyphs and sites to make it appear like they were working. A few staged interviews, also recorded, were held. She rattled off a few lines for the short intervals and did the best she could to make the "well endowed, but brainless" routine work. Afterwards, she got to more detailed work.

They approached one of the tombs and made their way through the doorway. This one looked as if it had been raided before a long, long time ago. Reine was completely okay with this aspect. She wasn't after artifacts or relics or ancient crystals of untold power. No, she was after something far more simple.

She pulled a small book from a belt pouch and started scanning the walls as the rest of the group shot more footage of the interior of the temple. She'd gotten the book from a discreet black market source. It was a small book containing the glyphs, and their translations, of the Sith language. She couldn't read or write the language, yet, but this would get her started...

"I can't make that promise, but I'll give you somethin' better than a man's word, I'll give you precedent. Know how many people the Jedi Council has cut off from the Force in the last five years, to the best of my knowledge? One. And she used to rule a quarter of the galaxy from this planet. I'm pretty sure you're in the clear."

Alexandra clicked her tongue as she paced, thinking over her options and looking at a file in her hand as she seemed to forget the fact of the Shotgun aimed at her. "Hmm... question, whos your friend?" She looked at [member="Aaralyn Rekali"], who had spoken no words through the entire conversation but had intrigued Alexandra a great deal, why was she here when the Jedi Master spoke all that was being said to her. She also let her mind reach out to a certain individual she hoped was nearby, this one being [member="Darth Tsolan"]. 'Hey, one of your former leaders is holding me at gun point, mind coming to talk him out of shooting me... and i mean talk, don't need to have a fight erupt on a Republic world please... you also might want to present yourself with the mask off and as yourself, incase you get pulled down with me so that the Jedi don't screw you over.'

"Master? I like this guy... what happens to Eve if i come?" She glanced back at the AI within the human body, its head turning to look at them while her hands continued to sort the information before her. "And Daeda." Her head motioned to the Ashlan wolf as she stood there with arms crossed behind her now as she turned to face them completely and her head turned for a moment to the side, a bit of confusion and interest in her eyes as she would not part with the two of them.

Alexandra paced for a few more seconds, glancing at the shotgun one last time before turning to Eve. "Eve, get back to the ship and put your body into storage, then have Resistance pull you and download yourself to the main computer before moving yourself to my personal datapad, understood?" The AI only nodded before grabbing all the research that she and Alexandra had done and packing it away while Alexandra turned back to [member="Jorus Merrill"]. "The Ashlan is coming along with us now. Mind if a friend meets us on the way though?"

It took him a bit, but Vulpesen arrived all the same. Coming out from the shadows, his force presence seemed to be a mix of light and dark with neither overrunning the other. As for his mask, the piece was still in its place as he had refused to take it off. "You called?" The sentence was kept short and simple as he asked the question to his friend.

The tomb had only one entrance, as Cinthra had established; to leave, Eve and the Ashlan would have to get past Jorus and Aaralyn at the door. Which put Tsolan directly behind Jorus.

The lord of the hyperlanes took a long sidestep and half-turned, to put the masked Tsolan on his left, Cinthra and company on his right, Aaralyn in front of him.

"Here's where it gets tricky," he said, shotgun noncommittal but ready to orient on either one of them. "Master Cinthra's comin' with me, of her own free will, to answer some questions in a more secure spot offworld. Who'd you be?"

Alexandra's eyes fell on Vulpesen now, a questioning glance in which she asked if he would reveal who he was or not, the mere fact he had come with the mask on did disappoint her, mostly because if he had come without it there was a chance he could pass himself off as what he used to be but sadly now he would have to keep up his appearance if he wanted to keep his identity secret. So until then Alexandra just watched to see what the answer would be.

It took a bit of time, but she started heading in the right direction. The tomb was getting more and more obvious that it had been raided. Possibly multiple times in the past few eons. The artifacts were almost entirely gone, short of a few sculptures here and there, most of them broken in some way. Even the corpse of the one buried here was missing, though Reine had no idea who had taken it. Skeletal remains littered the floor here and there, blown apart or dismembered in most cases. Essentially, there was no longer any risk to be here simply because everything that could kill them had killed everything else so long before.

She took a few more recordings here and there for the cameras, but mostly focused on the etchings on the walls and pillars in the tomb. Here and there, she wrote down translations or deciphered scripture. The vast majority spoke of the missing dead sith's deeds in life. It read as a typical Sith Lord's life would go. Killed x number of these foes, enslaved y number of those enemies, and slaughtered z number of my own people in the process. All in all, stereotypical. It wasn't really anything to look at, but the pictures and artwork spoke a little... differently.

Many depicted the same being hurling what looked to be spears at enemy soldiers. If it weren't for the shapelessness of the spears, she wouldn't have thought more of it, but the images enthralled her. They seemed more like... something more. Perhaps an unknown Force ability she had yet to discover. Another series of images showed a great daemon twice the size of any human as it ripped apart its enemies. It, too, gave her pause. Not because of its size or power, but because it seemed to be linked to the dead Sith in some way, if the tendrils tying it to the Sith were any indication.

Reine kept looking and searching. With luck, she'd find more. With more images, surely there may be an explanation.

Jorus grimaced at the newcomer's silence. "I said, Master Cinthra's comin' with me, of her own free will, to answer some questions in a more secure spot offworld. Who would you be?"

Vulpesen let out a small sigh and his saber flicked into his right hand. "I am the blood wolf and that is all I will allow you. Alexandra is a dear friend of mine and as such, I would like to know your business with her. I'm sure you've guessed that I won't be very cooperative if I don't like it." His voice was calm and his eyes bore into [member="Jorus Merrill"] from behind his mask. A shotgun was unfavorable for him in these conditions, but the flanking of Alexandra and himself made up for that. "So, who are you and what do you want with her?"

Aaralyn could sense the sudden tension, her right shoulder rolled slightly as she took a step back, focusing on the Living Force that was present within the Valley. Darkness it may have been, but the Light was still present. Her hands remained clasped calmly infront of her as she stared blankly at both the newcomer and then at [member="Alexandra Cinthra"]. She made no inclination to go for her lightsabers, there would be no heightened sensations through the Force from her person...just peace. An inner peace that allowed the Force to flow through her freely, to ready her within a moments notice.

Amber-hued orbs would gaze back and forth, from one individual to the next before she finally would speak. "I believe we should just honor the request of Master Merrill, blood wolf." A hand would unclasp and motion towards [member="Darth Tsolan"]. "You're on a Republic world, and as such I'm sure there is good reason for it. We don't just take people to take them." A smile would come to her lips as her hand came back down again, clasping once more to the other hand. Regardless of the shotgun to which [member="Jorus Merrill"] possessed, he had more than enough present to handle a situation...gods forbid it arise.

He gave his head another shake but his saber remained relaxed in his hand, showing no eagerness to switch on just yet. "I understand your words and see your reasons. I reject them none-the-less. The only way I can let you move on is if my friend assures me that it is fine to do so. We all have our goals and ambitions whether you jedi admit it or not. The thing is, she is imperative to mine. Perhaps your reasons are good, but how am I to know when I have not heard them?"

Jorus chewed his lip skeptically as he took in the masked man just outside the tomb door.

"Yeah, think we're about done here. You ain't welcome on this world, mutt. You got one chance to get gone, or you can come along. And for feth's sake don't light that glowstick, or I'll ventilate ya."

Alexandra hadn't moved at all and was more annoyed that this was actually going on like it was. "Tsolan... what for force sakes are you doing... i asked for you to come to smooth things over and all you are doing is making Jorus' trigger finger itchy... will you just shut it please if you aren't going to be normal for once. And whats with the whole Blood Wolf thing again you aren't that scary." She looked at Jorus and sighed as her sabers returned to her side and her staff flew right to her and into her palm, shortening itself as she put it in its place in the small of her back before grabbing her overrobes and cloak. Both Pure white of course.

"Mister Merrill, Miss Rekali, let us be on our way please... Blood Wolf, if you are going to come, please drop it with the tough guy act, they are being civil and you are causing more tension than i had meant for when i asked you to come." A tinge of annoyance hung in her voice, but also disappointment, why was he even acting like this. Sure they were friends but the Jedi weren't going to skin her alive, infact he should be more on edge with sith around considering the fact she is far more lightsided than she should be after working for the Sith.
