Scout Rendili (Discover info on Disappearances)

Every remaining room provided the same results as the main section of the building and feeling the uneasiness in her stomach coming and going, she exited the building quickly; hunching over and placing her hands on her knees. The Force was slowly revealing itself to her when one of her troops came running up to her from an adjoining building and was cut down half-way across the street from an unseen assailant, spurring her to take cover by stepping into the buildings door frame. She tried to scan the area but the Force kept going in and out to be of any help. So it was the old fashion way.

"Did anyone see where the shot originated from," she asked into the comlink, hoping at least one of her troopers was actually doing their job. The news she was given did not settle well with her. Cautiously she peeked around the side of the small cover she had and saw a glare from a lens and a rifle barrel poking out from a window in the building adjacent to hers. Sniper! She mentally cursed the whole situation and the voices in her mind, roused from their slumber, were now adding their views to the situation; which seemed to agitate the Sith Knight more. She began to consider the idea that whatever was behind the disappearance of the people in the building must be having some affect on the Force as well. That was the only explanation as to why she couldn't sense anything.

"Listen up," speaking into the small device on her wrist, "Commence with D22." She had spent weeks drilling codes into the minds of her personal troops. Comlinks were not known to be secure proof, so anyone could hack a system and listen in on the chatter. However, they would not understand designation codes. With D22 put into action, three soldiers from the closest building to hers emerged providing covering fire at the building she was pointing at forcing the sniper to take cover, while a fourth trooper emerged and hurled two grenades up and into the window; exploding and killing the sniper. Then all hell broke loose. The sniper's comrades opened fired, killing two more of her troopers and sending the other two to her location.

So if the enemy wanted a fight, then the mad Sith from Dagobah would give them a fight; and so much more.

Objective: Pacify the Rendili Forces

In truth, Matsu wasn't opposed to the duty of negotiation. It was part of luring the Galaxy in to one's clutches, playing all talents and hands dealt. But if given the choice she preferred action to an endless game of words, finding the latter exhausting considering she was mildly misanthropic. So when Vrag suggested a course of action that nixed negotiation and still kept in mind their goals of keeping the city intact she nodded, watching their forces march in to the city intimidating, numerous...and distracting.

They were just about to be on their way when she heard speeders accompanied soon after by the pounding footsteps of armored men.

"I've got the troopers on foot," she yelled over the din of the speeders - she trusted her partner more with the those, witness to her awe-inspiring speed and power in combat more than once. Between her natural talent and the flamethrower Vrag would down them and their operators quickly. The Force had been strange ever since the Disappearance, sometimes not responding at all and when it did it was a gamble on whether it would backfire horribly or simply only be half as effective. It felt like having a limb cut off.

But then, Matsu knew what that was like. Adapt.

The claws of her left hand sprang from within her cybernetic in tandem with the snap-hiss of her lightsaber in the right. Blocking blaster bolts with both the saber and her arms she sprinted forward, intending on working her way around the circle. The first bolted right for her once she was close, seemingly intent on either making some heroic move and killing a Sith attacker at close range or making some kamikaze, last futile effort. She slashed at him with her left hand, intent on christening her claws with first blood.

Not moments after, the whine of a speeder buzzed in her right ear. She had just enough time to suppress the urge to use the Force to speed her forward, not trusting it to work properly, imagining it backfiring and the speeder smearing her across Rendili pavement. Instead she dropped to the ground just as it whizzed overhead, rolling with the motion of the speeder and reaching up with her lightsaber to try and cut through vital machinery and send it whirling off-course - hopefully right through some of the Rendili defense force on foot.

She wasted no time springing to her feet and going right back in to finish off the small force sent their way.

Location: the city full of chaos
Objective: Scout and obtain information as she tries to link up with Sith forces

Well, things were just as chaotic as she expected. People were yelling for help, crying out for loved ones that had vanished into thin air, security forces were trying to rush around and calm everyone, but even they were having problems as they dealt with missing half of their number too. All the while, Taeli slowly made her way through the city, holding a blaster pistol she had picked up from her the ground.

She was not going to risk using the Force when it was as chaotic feeling as it was right now, there was no telling what it might do. Powers were in flux right now, from what she was hearing, and until those that had been drawn into that Netherworld dealt with the issue there, the Force would remain out of whack.

"Down with the government!" a man shouted, a small crowd roaring similar things as they began to move off to riot and ransack things. Poor timing given that Sith forces, once they arrived en-mass, would not tolerate such wanton behavior. Pulling a man aside, she asked, "Do you know what's going on?"

"Half of the people in the city are gone, government pulled out and abandoned us, what do you think is going on?!" he shouted. "Everyone for themselves!"

He dashed off to join the growing crowd of instability, and Taeli sighed. It wasn't enough of an answer and she was still waiting to hear if Balaya was here of if she had been sucked into the Netherworld as well. Still, perhaps she could locate some sort of pattern to the disppearances here while she went about linking up with forces.

People were running back and forth. Revy would take her time. She had to be precise. Murmurs of rapture and missing personnel was making things a bit more difficult to coordinate.

Oh there was overarching emergency procedures, but when faced with a massive disappearance of sapients, there were bound to be cracks in security.

Figuring out how to break through security and discover more about the Firestar Defense station would be difficult yes.

But not impossible.

This had to be a joke. There was simply no way that a stoic defender — one who had promised them all a terrible and premature death just moments ago — would send such a small force to deal with an invading army.

The Sith might have come to talk, but that admittedly peaceful intent hadn't sapped their brains out of their skulls; they had come prepared. There was nothing like a horde of troops to help you persuade a foolish enemy out of a doomed effort. Both sides would lose many lives, should open battle break out, and Vrag had every intention of preventing that tragedy before it could happen.

Her noble goals aside, the firrerreo had more pressing matters to attend to.

Whatever the strategic prowess of their commander, the attacking men seemed serious enough, and the Knight was more than happy to oblige their deathwish. Her no-kill courtesy only extended to enemies that offered her the same respect; once bolts started zipping past her, however, all the bets were off.

Iron Maiden turned out to be an excellent team player, and Vrag was confident that the deadly short round had her back as she focused on the incoming speeders. They hadn't really moved that far away from the main Sith force, which meant that she could bank on her soldiers to shoot down a few while she took care of the rest.

She broke off from their small group, moving to the side and out of the most obvious line of fire in her attempt to avoid their first sweeping run. Even without the Force fueling her limbs, the firrerreo was fast and scarily nimble for her size, using the tight confines of an urban battlefield to her advantage. The next seconds saw her ascend a fire escape to the nearest roof, where she took cover behind a ventilation box. Her awareness was hindered with the Force fluctuating as it was, but Vrag had never been one to rely on it in the first place.

No, she preferred to put her trust in more... tangible things. Like, say, armor, guns, and lightsabers.

Or flamethrowers.

It was such a nice weapon, the flamethrower. With fast-moving targets such as speeders, its wide area of effect was truly a blessing, especially considering Vrag was no gunslinger. Still, she'd used her share of firearms in her time, and when the mounted attackers next came in range, the Knight squeezed the trigger with glee written all over her face.

"Burn in hell, motherkarkers!"

Objective: Pacify Rendili Forces

Late.

She was always late, late to Kashyyk - a mistake that nearly cost her life - and late to Manaan as well. Yet she was never quite far behind when an incident occurred within the sector of her control - her control for now, that is. She had no doubt in her mind that her near death on Kashyyk would rally the other Voices and other upstarts into believing she was weak, that she should have her position usurped - such actions that she had anticipated prior to the invasion of the jungle world when she had plotted her own death, to thwart the imperceptible hands of fate that had again defeated her desperate ploys to break away from its chains. Death was what she had craved at that battle, if not to prove the existence of such an omnipotent guide in life then to escape from her pressured world. Yet here she was, confined to a hoverchair with a bandaged stump of an arm, bandages covering much of the left side of her face, small trace scars leading up to them, unable to be completely hidden from view.

Yes, she had failed - whether it was intentional or not mattered not now, nor did she care anymore - but she was still here, in pieces even, to perform her duties to the death. However, it was without the guidance of the dark side of the force or the horrifying visions of the force that had helped fuel her bi-polar mania to the breaking point in the past. The force was cut from her at the moment, ever since the twelfth of Taungsday, a moment in history that had mysteriously raptured nearly half, if not more, of the galaxy at large with no prejudice to species or force alignment, even sensitivity had apparently been ignored. But she were here now, riding along in a small personal shuttle towards the air space of Rendili with absolutely no intention to engage anyone in a dogfight with her unarmed ship, a generic shuttle at best. "Send word to whomever it is that currently leads Rendili that I wish to speak with them, civilly." She said firmly to the pilot of the ship, a younger twi'lek that had fortunately been spared the rapture and was sustained as her servant still. "Also, before you tell them who asks -" The Sith began, then reconsidered. She'd thought to threaten the Rendili forces with brute force or some other means, but she quickly decided against it. "Tell them that it is Silara Vantai, primary shareholder of the Laravan Corporation that wishes to act as a neutral party between the Sith and Rendili defences." Silara instructed, completely apathetic that it was most certainly not true in a literal sense - she was hardly a neutral party in this situation, but she was most certainly as described.

Hopefully her small, defenseless, civilian craft would not be fired upon. That would make a certain Sith Lady and, hopefully, her potential best friend very upset.

Still yet as evacuations continued, Camellia watched out at the immobile Sith Fleet, its lack of movement a relief and a concern for the Rendili woman. On the one hand it meant that the security forces plenty more time to prepare for the coming engagement, but on the other it gave the Sith more time to coordinate a plan of attack and supplement their existing ships with reinforcements. However, groundside operations to evacuate the capital for the coming invasion were still underway. Everything was still a mess since the Republic pulled out after people suddenly vanished across the galaxy. The citizens were restless and it was hard enough for the government to ensure their protection with the Home Defense Forces since the Republic had abandoned them. They had to emphasize that, that it was the Republic who left and not Rendili's own officials. There was still plenty of problems though.

Hopefully the Sith were going through some of the same. Like a decrease in military force. The Defense Fleet had plenty of people crewing the ships because of local Republic dissenters supplementing them, but groundside and on the stations there were fewer security forces than there ought to be to man such large installations. Hopefully though the existing space defenses would whittle down any mass invasion force the Sith deployed, and hopefully the Sith were low on soldiers to deploy because of the galactic vanishing act. Then it would be fair wouldn't it? As for the force, Camellia was completely unaware of how the force was out of tune, not being a force user herself and not knowing of any on Rendili who had a connection to it like Jedi and Sith did left her out of touch on that news.

Not that it seemed to be getting in the Sith's way all that much anyway, as [member="Velda Nar-Donna"] [member="Matsu Xiangu"] and [member="Vrag"] took care of the Security details sent to investigate and eliminate them. All that remained was the squad entering a nearby building complex to set up as a sniper post. They began to call in to units in the surrounding grid, and soon enough three hundred Security Troopers began to head off the Sith groups linking up, setting up barricades along the roads and creating choke points and more sniper posts waiting for the Sith forces to arrive. Six Rendili Battle Tanks even to take up positions at some of the fortified intersections.

[member="Darth Venefica"] appeared to be having worse luck, as the Security Team in their sniper post had her forces pinned down while troopers on the streets in cover kept them from just rushing to take the building. The unfortunate man to be blown to smithereens became a martyr for those still fighting. More teams were being called in now that the Sith forces were verified and located. More sniper teams would move into the buildings across the streets from that which the Sith were pinned in. While another twenty security troopers would close in on the streets and another group with a tank moved to the intersection nearby to set up a barricade to prevent the Sith from moving deeper into the city if they overcame the troops there.

Perhaps it would have been smarter for the Defense Forces to send much more, but there was still plenty to do stopping riled civilians refusing to leave the endangered city and evacuating those who still had yet to leave and were willing.

It was those Camellia had her attention focused on when the communication officer in the command center on Rendili Stardrive's shipyard station announced a message being broadcast to them. A message from the Sith. Or rather, someone from the company of Laravan Corp, @Silara Vantai, who wished to speak with them as an uninvolved intermediary. Well, the Rendili woman doubted all of that, but with the quick confirmation from Sensors that the shuttle was unarmed and no explosives were detected on board, perhaps there was some value in letting this person speak. "Lady Vantai this is Camellia Swift. A pair of fighters will escort you to a hanger bay that will open for you on approach. The Arch-Provost is occupied with civil matters planetside. As I am in command of the Defense Force for the time being, I will gladly receive you."

Summary
  • 72 soldiers lost, 12 speeder bikes down
  • Security Personnel setting up barricades and fortifications along the roads and intersections, including backup from some tanks, ahead of the Velda/Matsu/Varg group
  • Darth Venefica is being surrounded slowly
  • Silara was invited for tea. . . sorta

Khallesh moved in complete silence. One foot in front of the other, carefully placing the toe, then onto the heel before gradually shifting the weight forwards. Her Cloak of Nuun kept her an indistinct blur, all she had to do was focus on keeping silent.

It was good to get back into this kind of role. She’d started out as a scout, and it was satisfying work. Command often kept her back from the front lines, or as far back as a Yuuzhan Vong commander ever stayed from the front, which wasn’t usually far. She carefully stepped around a wooden chair, careful of her footing.

There was a chance, that as this distance her targets would see her if they suddenly turned. However, the pair of them seemed quite focussed on something in the distance. The sniper pair, one of them holding the heavy rifle, the other calling out numbers in their clicky language. Khallesh moves close behind them, and looked out the window. In the distance, maybe five hundred metres away ] [member=Vrag] and [member="Matsu Xiangu"] were dispatching a group of red-clad security forces with a ruthless efficiency Khallesh could not fail to admire. Her enhanced eyesight easily picked out the details of the battle.

Her common tongue was quite respectable, so she was aware that the pair were preparing to fire. Her hand grasped the handle of her double-bladed couffee, a good weapon for such tight spaces. For just a few moments, she paused. What if the Force truly had left the Sith? Would they be unawares of the danger? Would they perish?

Were they vulnerable?

She settled on a course of action, now was not the time for curiosity. That would be sated later in the day if she stayed close to the Sith, she was certain. In one smooth motion she brought the couffee around and slipped the blade across the sniper’s neck. Almost too much weight was put behind the blow as she felt the blade hit bone, the sniper jerked and pulled the trigger on his weapon which went off with a deafening boom. She pulled her blade free and turned to the spotter. She had been too intent on keeping her macrobinoculars on the target. Far too slow the female human reached for a sidearm, Khallesh brought the blood-soaked weapon down. One slash maimed the woman’s hand, Khallesh stepped in close and brought the blade back up. It cut in under the ribs and up into the chest. The woman grabbed Khallesh with her free arm, but was capable of nothing more than taking futile sucks of air and looking shocked.

With a twist, Khallesh willed the couffee to move back and forth. Far less pliable than an amphistaff, the creature could still twist and turn. It eviscerated the woman’s chest from the inside, tearing lung and finally heart.

Khallesh stood tall, remonstrating with herself for being so foolish. The loud noise would have alerted other to her presence. Then again, she mused, if they had fired deliberately their allies would have expected as much.

“Tell the Sith there are snipers nearby. I will go search ahead.”

OOC/ Spawned a couple of snipers to give myself something to do, sorry Cams

While the Rendili fleet was busy pooling together to defeat the Sith armada forming on the other side of the system, five Wyyrlok-Class Star Destroyers dropped out of Hyperspace. These ships were under the temporary command of Darth Adekos and his loyal droid assistant, @TD-18. They were not part of the main assault force and instead dropped into the system on the opposite side of where the Rendili fleet would be making its stand. Adekos was not much good at ship-to-ship combat. What he was good at was popping up uninvited behind enemy defenses in order to split their focus. He was also adept at broadcasting derision-filled speeches over the radio, such as what was taking place now.

"This is Darth Adekos to the Rendili Security forces. I hereby present my unconditional surrender."

His ships already moved for the first Firestar defense station they could see. It was a good tactic, really, ringing the planet with these cheap-yet-effective stations. An ingenious method of deterring mass troop landings, but only if they had the support of larger capital ships. On the opposite side of the planet, these did not, leaving them vulnerable to Adekos' ships... And his merciless sarcasm.

"I have come to realize, after becoming rich and powerful beyond my most wild dreams, the error of my ways."

They opened fire, one-hundred and twenty five long-range heavy turbolaser batteries chewing the first Firestar station to death in a matter of minutes. There was a fantastic explosion, followed by an eerie sense of satisfaction for Darth Adekos. Five hundred lives, or thereabouts, extinguished. If the men and women on the other stations were intelligent, they would start evacuating. Until Adekos saw any sign of that, it was on to the next station. He would go station to station until they were all removed. Then he would begin landing his soldiers, just like any sane commander would do.

"Long have I served the One Sith, and long have I reaped the benefits of my service. But of what use is money if not spent in the name of democracy? Of what use is power if not used to further the cause of representative government?" Adekos pondered, even as his ships began pecking at the second station. Escape pods started launching, prompting him to smile.

"No, it was only after posing these questions did I realize what a hollow, meaningless experience it was to be a member of the One Sith. So I come to you now, begging you, allow me to surrender myself to your custody. The One Sith are, after all, clearly on the losing side of this engagement. Such as it were, the ideological high ground of the Republic is too great an obstacle for us to overcome."

“Mmmmhmmmhmm. Hmmmhmmhmmhm. Hmmmmmm. Mmmhmhmhmmm.”

It was like music to the ears, as the tunes went in and out of existence you could practically hum to its rhythm. Which is what Akron did, every cut he made, every slice he took, more music, more. This was not a simple murder, but neither was it very complicated - except to the uninitiated perhaps.

But that was the thing about most things. They always seemed more complicated than they really were. Take Benjamin here. An average guy by all intents and purposes, but once yo-- he lost his train of thought, that kept happening these days.

Annoying to say the least.

“Hummm. Hum. Hum.”

Perhaps it had something to do with all these people disappearing, billions, more than half of the Galaxy suddenly vanishing. Such a peculiar state, so… fascinating. Akron pondered on that for a while, it might explain why the Force felt so… strange? Idiosyncratic even, the Sith tasted that word for a while, quite liking how it rolled out of the tongue.

Idiosyncratic. Yes, yes. That would do fine.

He channeled a little bit of the peculiar stuff, fingertips lighting up slightly as he poked into the exposed and lightning shot in. Benjamin rocketed back from the void to the known, and back.

“Ah… how riveting. Once more with style please?”

Another burst of lightning exploded from his fingertips.

Scout Rendili (Info About Disappearances)

The situation was only going to get worse if she didn't act now. The enemy's strength was unknown to her and she was unsure if she could rely on the Force, so moving out into the street to face the enemy on their turf was no longer an option. However, the only option available to her was to go back into that building and find another exit, which didn't sit well with her. "Listen up! I want you to search the buildings you're in for another exit and upon discovering it initiate RE56 immediately...and be aware of snipers," the Sith ordered to the other troops via her comlink. With a deep breath, she entered in the building for a second time fighting the vertigo that threatened to dominate and secure her as its prisoner.

With the help of one the troopers, she managed to lead them through the building until at last they discovered a second entrance/exit that led into a back alleyway. Without having to give the order, one of the troopers exited the building, his weapon at the ready to check if it was all clear; the other standing behind her keeping an eye out for the enemy if they managed to sneak into the building. The soldier outside gestured to the Darth Venefica that the area was secure. With a slight nod she turned to alert the other soldier they were heading out and her jaw dropped slightly. He was gone. Slowly she backed away through the exit, shaking her head at the disbelief of what was happening.

She felt a hand touch her right shoulder breaking her out of the trance, and listened as she was told they had to move. "Right...let's go." She withdrew her weapon from its resting place, ignited it, and proceeded to run down the deserted back alleyway. The duo rounded a corner and before them, kneeling behind various objects of cover, was the enemy looking down the street, unaware of the Sith and her trooper had accidentally flanked them on the right. Silently and quickly she produced a small thermal grenade from her waist belt, raised three fingers into the air; and began a three second countdown.

As the third finger dropped, she threw the activated explosive into the centre of the group while the trooper unloaded a volley of blaster fire into the mix. Seven of the ten were killed in the first wave, and the other three were thrown into momentarily confusion. The Sith screamed as she charged the remaining three and quickly cut down two, the third dropped by the Sith trooper. The small victory was short lived when her comlink burped reporting her entire squad was pinned down by snipers, enemy forces, and what appeared to be a tank blocking the main intersection. "Hold your position....and keep them occupied. We'll deal with the snipers in the buildings," she replied into her comlink. "Lets go take care of the snipers in the buildings....and be careful," she told the trooper still thinking about how the other simply vanished into thin air.

Revy would spot an opportunity. An entrance towards a corridor that would lead towards a control room.

Good.

Still wrapped in the spirit ichor, she would remain hidden as she would stealthily move towards her objective. Slipping through the open door, she would avoid potentially stirring any attention. With the chaos it was a bit easier. However, she very nearly almost ran into someone.

That would have been a mistake.

(If I've misinterpreted anything feel free to PM me, slightly confused as to what exactly's going on)

The dropship containing Khan and a handful of soldiers (npc) was one of the last to land on the edge of Rendili's capital city. A disadvantage in and of itself; others would have been moilzed already. But no matter, the battle was only beginning. He had heard Rendili's warning, their threat, over the comlinks... So they wouldn't be surrendering. Which he preferred, honestly. THere was no chance for recognition in being a Sith that stood by and watched diplomatic papers be signed.

The Felactian stepped out from the dropship followed by a handful of soldiers (Five npcs, just so that I wasn't alone in the dropship). Honestly, he had no idea where to begin. Kashyyyk had bene more organized then this. There had been clear directions. Just pacify Rendili's forces? Where were they? The city seemed empty, deserted. Likely they were rallying downtown, or where the other Sith had landed. Hm. Prehaps he could secure an important point while the Rendili forces and the other Sith were distracted with eachother... The Sith who captured the enemy's capital building while others were on the edge of the city fighting... He could be teh one who won the battle.

Of course the chances of that actully happening were slim to nill, but he of course didn't see it that way. So the Felactian, followe by the little handful of meat shields troopers made their way into the city.

Objective: Scout and learn what she can while linking up with Sith forces

Well, it would seem no one knew what was going on that was willing to talk at least. Typical, and now she found herself in an interesting position. A few men had thought it a good idea to corner her in a side street and try to have their way with her. She absolutely loathed people like this . . . those opportunistic people that would do anything they felt like the moment order was gone.

"Now gentlemen, I wouldn't do anything hasty," she said, but she was cut off by raucous and possibly drunk laughter. If that was their answer . . . well on their heads so be it.

Igniting her lightsaber and immediately engaging the spinning mode, she was among them like a wolf amonsgt sheep. They died quickly enough, and then she was on her way, leaving a pile of severed limbs behind, but having alerted security forces to her presence and she was a Sith. She could hear the sounds of blaster fire up ahead, which meant she might have found some Sith forces to link up with. Noticing sniper fire coming from a nearby building, she could see several Sith troopers pinned down by it. Well she couldn't allow that at all.

Moving into the building, she started raining death down upon anyone wearing a security force uniform. She might not be using the force, and her ability to wield a lightsaber was slightly hindered by that, but she was still exceptionally good with her blades regardless because of the training. Still, her dress now did have two blast burns on the hem and she was annoyed as she dispatched another sniper. She wondered how they would be taking seeing the sniper lessen and lessen as she cut a swath through the snipers.

She picked her path carefully between buildings, finding the high places where she could get a good view from. Of course the Sith had plenty of ships in orbit and were deploying aircraft and satellites, but there was nothing quite like eyes on the ground to provide timely and accurate awareness.

They were starting to mobilise their forces, ready to make an attempt at fighting off the Sith attack. A fruitless endeavour in her opinion, but nevertheless a worthy one. They’d been cut off from the forces on Alderaan. She bitterly wished she was back there to ensure the safety of her people.

She cut down a back alley, passing within feet of a soldier, the bright red armour did a brilliant job of flagging them visually. She watched a group of them waving civilians out of the way and pushing airspeeders across the road to make a hasty barricade. Anything to slow down the encroaching force before greater strength could be gathered to mount a serious counter attack, she imagined. She found a quiet spot, well out of sight and earshot of anything. Still, she waited nearly a minute, simply listening to the sounds around her for anything approaching.

When there was nothing, she pulled out her villip and relayed some information back up the chain of command, which would probably reach [member="Vrag"] shortly. She pointed out where the enemy had its main group of defenders, their compositions and suggested routes of attack. Her job would become much more vital when they started to reach serious resistance.

Down the corridor Revy would go, slipping further into the Rendili security. So far so good.

Several more guards would rush down the hall, prompting Revy to press herself against the wall to avoid colliding with them. There was a murmur of the One Sith Empire demanding Swift stand down.

A slow grin would draw over her.

So it begins. Using the opportunity of millions of missing to make a move.

She would continue down the hall. Perfect.

Two hours and two more Firestar Stations later, Darth Adekos was satisfied with the terms of his surrender. A hole had been punched in the defense station ring, and now the safe landing of his droid troops borrowed from Vornskr could begin. Relatively safe landing, anyway. There were still probably anti-aircraft emplacements on the surface. Darth Adekos stretched his arms, then patted the curved lightsaber hilt at his side. It was time to break in that new Makashi approach he wanted to apply to things. Original? No. Groundbreaking? No. All that interesting? Also, no. But it was stylish and effective. If there were two traits Adekos craved, it was style and efficiency.

"Hold position here and start dispatching our fighters. I want enemy air superiority over the capital contested, and I want an idea of what weapons emplacements have been erected."

"Yessir."

"Oh, and prep my shuttle along with the rest of the landing craft. I think I'll be meeting with this Arch-Provolone fellow myself."

"Arch-Provost, sir."

"Details, captain. Minor details."

To her immense surprise, Selka Ventus was hot for Adekos. That voice, that dry, sardonic, classy, efficient voice...

Mmm.

The champagne warmed her, and she nestled deeper into the cockpit of her Rassilon, watching the battle unfold on long-range scanners. He'd beaten the orbital defense stations into slag with long-range turbolasers; there was definitely a double entendre or two to be found in there. And now he appeared to be disembarking in a shuttle to...handle things. Personally.

Mmm.

Another cut, another slice and finally it could be said that his work was nearing completion. One could not rush this sort of affaire, one had to be careful, punctual and above all critical of one’s own work. That might be the most important part of the job, the ability to be self-critical about what you were doing.

Caressingly Akron started to sense beyond the void, his eyes turning pitch black as he immersed himself in that what could have been, that what had been and that what was right now. Benjamin was nearly at the brink now, Akron could practically see him taking the last few steps over the bridge towards the heavenly gates.

Hm. Hm. Hm. Hmm Hmm.’

The hum would start to sound louder, the gates shook and Benjamin could not help but look over his shoulder. It was then that he would see Akron again, face turned upside down and the poor boy started running.

But it was alright.

More than alright.

Mhmmmm.’

The gates broke apart and Akron felt the full measure of Benjamin seep into him, for a single defining moment the two men were one and the very next the poor boy disappeared into the void forever.

But it was alright.

Now at least Akron knew what it was all about.
