Kurt watched her for a few moments, obviously not realizing what was so funny to her.

For The Courier one Fork and one KNife was the way it was done. He knew nothing of Salad forks or cake forks, he'd never even thought about it in fact. To him silverware was just the two utensils you used the most. Sometimes it was a knife and fork, sometimes a spoon got thrown in. There was no questioning it. So in his ignorance Kurt simply took Jamie's happy little bounce as a sign of how happy she was to have him here and cook for him.

He smiled slightly and followed after her. "I dunno."

The other drink he'd finished long ago, slowly nursing it over the last two hours during the film. It had been good, though on his empty stomach had left him feeling a bit more...loose. His arms slowly wrapped around Jamie in a loose grip.

"What can you make me?" He asked as he planted a gentle kiss on her lips.

"What can I make you?" Her nose twitched, unsure of what she actually could make. She wasn't exactly a bar tender or anything. The blonde held up the bottle of lightly colored wine with an innocent, goofy smile. "This?" She knew he wasn't a fan and would refuse, but she thought it amusing to ask all the same. If nothing else it would illicit an entertaining revolt from the man.

"Or I suppose I could look on the HoloNet for a recipe to make something with the abundance of alcohol in my father's bar."

There was also the usual juices or water, but Jamie found those to be drab for dinner time.

Returning his gesture she pulled away enough to finish speaking.

"I can't guarantee it will be any good, but I can try!"

"Alright." He said as he pulled away and gently grabbed the bottle of wine from her. "I'll get you a glass for this."

Kurt might have been a bit uncultured, but he knew enough about the high life to understand that wine should be drank out of a specific type of cup. The one that he had gotten for Jamie was more for water or something else to go along with on the side.

"You make me a drink." His fingers floated over the small of her back as he pulled away completely turning back towards the Kitchen.

The cabinet that she had pointed out to him earlier of course contained all sorts of glasses, probably more than Kurt had ever actually seen in his entire life. He pulled it open and looked at everything inside, frowning slightly as he struggled to find the correct cup for her. Eventually he found something that he'd once seen on the cover of a magazine with some wine in it and settled on the idea that it was probably correct. He pulled one of the glasses free and headed to the dining room.

His head craned slightly to check on Jamie as he placed the cup onto the table, fiddling with the corkscrew he found to open the bottle of wine.

"Okay." Fair deal. She passed Kurt the bottle and wandered off towards the bar area and tapped on the terminal screen to illuminate the area around her. For a few minutes she simply looked at the screen, then back to the bottles on the wall behind her. Three or four times it looked like she was ready but then slumped, realizing she was missing something for one particular drink. Finally she settled on something that looked colorful. A mixture of blue and orange hues in a cylinder shaped glass.

With a shrug the blonde turned, pulled free one of the glasses from above the bar, scooped some ice and tossed it in. She then pulled the tops off an orange liqueur, a blue mixer, and a clear vodka from a star system she'd never heard of before. While there was a small shot glass there that would appropriately measure the levels of each ingredient Jamie figured she was at least talented enough to gauge on her own, and so instead chose to eyeball the mixtures of the three items, before garnishing it with a small mint leaf.

Bringing the glass back to the table she set it beside Kurt's plate and smiled. "If it's terrible you can tell me. I can try something else."

Something else would likely be a mixture of some kind of whiskey and fizzy sugar drink, rather than some elaborate thing.

Just as she returned Kurt finally managed to wrangle the cork free from the bottle of wine, a loud pop resounding within the dining room as he freed Jamie's drink. He smiled at her, and then slowly began to pour some of the red into the glass he'd chosen. "One second."

The Courier somehow managed to pour the drink without spilling it, perhaps due to his one week employment at a cantina in Mos Eisley. He hadn't stayed there long, but at least they'd taught him how to pour a few drinks. He smiled as he placed the bottle back down onto the table, rounding it and moving to Jamie's side to slip an arm around her. For a second he simply looked at the table, the food, the drinks, the plates, everything that they had prepared.

Slowly he turned to her, wrapping one arm around her and sliding his palm onto her cheek.

"I love you." He took in a breath, and then pressed his lips against hers in a long, deep kiss.

Jamie watched as Kurt worked on freeing the cork from the bottle. She was reluctant to tell him that there was an automatic corker on the counter top just a few feet away, as it was endearing to her to watch him fight with it for a few moments before managing to release the plug. Her index finger raised towards her lips, to which she bit down on lightly to cover the smile hidden behind the digit.

Then as he rounded the end of the table, setting both bottle and glass down and taking her into his embrace she allowed that hand to fall to rest atop Kurt's shoulder, her other hand raising to the opposite side and hooking fingers behind his neck. For a long minute she simply held the embrace, the kiss, and the moment. Blue eyes shuttered closed and a wealth of air drew into her lungs, her feet raising to stand on the tips of her toes before she finally opened her eyes again, breaking away and settling back down to the floor.

"I love you too."

For a few seconds he considered just holding her.

A part of him hadn't realized how much he'd missed her. Even though the two of them didn't get to be together often, he'd always felt that he was at least with her. That she was his and vice versa. Yet for a few weeks he had lost that feeling. Everything had been up in the air, nothing had been sure. There had been so much doubt and so much chaos that he'd spiraled quite far. Now that he had her again, in his arms, here, he felt whole. His thumb brushed over her cheek.

He kissed her again.

"I have to take as much of you as I can get." He told her quietly. "Make sure you thoroughly enjoy me while I'm here."

Another kiss. "It's the only way you'll invite me back."

"Is that so?" Jamie reached for the glass on the table, lifting the wine to her lips and taking a small sip. "Well consider your invitation--"

A subtle partial closure of her eyes and smirk made its' way over her as she spoke. "Earned."

Breaking away from him she gestured for Kurt to take a seat as she did the same. Next to the platter was a rather ornate looking serving fork and knife, emboldened with Jamie's family crest surrounded by gold and silver trimmings that wrapped around the handles. The platter the meat sat atop likewise had similar engraving, though was obscured by the food atop it.

Jamie pulled free the napkin and set it on her lap, once again finding the humor in the single fork and knife positioned opposite the plate. If it were a more formal event, or her parents were present, or really anyone besides she and Kurt she would have quietly corrected his mistake and informed him, but for now this simply amused her.

Still not quite sure what Jamie found so great about the dinner table he had set Kurt simply plopped himself down in the ornate wooden chair.

For a second he just looked at the meal that Jamie had put together. It was quite something to look at, enough to feed them twice over and still have something left. He wondered briefly if she just thought that he'd been starving himself over the last few weeks. A frown pulled at his lips as he realized he had been, though that little detail wouldn't be shared with her. He glanced up and smiled at her. "It looks delicious."

As he had been taught by his mother, Kurt served Jamie first.

He may not have understood fancy forks and dinner plates, but he knew well enough to make sure that she had something to eat first. Kurt looked to her for cues on what she wanted, quickly serving her up a plate that was a colorful mixture of everything they had made. Only when that was done did he serve himself, eventually sitting back down in his chair.

"Think maybe you might have made too much." He told her with a smile, glancing at everything that was still on the serving platters.

"Thank you!"

A bright smile dashed across her in response to both his compliment and the gesture of serving her. She waited patiently for him to fill his plate and set it back down before she answered his comment. Jamie knew from the start that there was more than enough for the two of them but she had made it all the same with the intent of sending Kurt back with what was left.

"I did. The rest is for you to take back with you."

It wasn't exactly something up for debate. She had intentionally made enough to send him away with a few meals.

The blonde raised her wine glass up towards the center of the table as a toast. "To weathering this calamity and making it out together."

Well, he couldn't argue with that logic. He was a terrible cook and Kaile wasn't supposed to be on her feet all that much, going him with leftovers was probably a good idea. As long as they didn't stop him from taking it all through security, that would be extremely awkward, not to mention just a little bit disappointing. He glanced at the food one more time, then looked up at Jamie as she held her wine glass.

Her words made him smile. It had taken persistence, but they'd gotten there it seemed. "To us."

Kurt scooped up the mixed drink that she had made him, swirling it slightly with his hand before gently clinking his glass against her own. As he withdrew he pulled the drink to his lips, taking a sip for the first time and immediately getting struck with a strong taste of orange.

His eyes widened for a second, then he placed the drink on the table.

"That is incredibly citrusy." He told her with a smile. "But not bad."

Jamie cringed looking at Kurt's face contort from the blast of citrus taste assaulting him.

"I'm sorry." She bit her lip, eyes softening to appear remorseful. "I can make you something else if it's bad. You don't have to drink it for me you know."

The last thing she wanted was to make him suffer through drinking something awful. And if the face he made was any indication, it was that he didn't appear too engaged with what she had put in front of him. If nothing else he could see to making himself something he was more used to back home. After all, making drinks that folks from Tatooine enjoyed was a bit alien to her.

"Really. You don't have to." She assured him. "It's okay."

As long as the food itself was good, she could handle being a bad bartender.

"No it's fine." He told her with a smile, looking at the drink for a moment.

"The color just didn't scream orange at me." He smirked at her, then glanced at the food in front of him. "Besides, the drink doesn't matter half as much as the food anyway, and it'll probably go well together."

The drink really didn't matter all that much truth be told, he just hadn't expected the sudden burst of orange that had come with it. He gave Jamie one last smile, then looked down at his plate. He scooped up the fork besides his plate, probably holding it wrong, and then did the same with the knife.

He took his first bite with a broad smile, and quickly found that there was no disappointment to be had.

The meat was cooked to perfect, the vegetables were delicious, and he received a trail of goosebumps running down his spine as he slowly began to chew his food. "Mm."

He did love a good meal.

"Okay. If you're sure."

Jamie didn't want him drinking something he hated, but she also wasn't about to press the issue if he assured her that it was fine. The manner in which Kurt held his utensils wasn't nearly as wrong as his elbows on the tabletop. Things she hadn't quite picked up on before were rather obvious now that she was in her own home, recognizing that the typical traits she was used to were more present when it was just she and Kurt there in the dining room. It didn't bother her, she wasn't the type to get upset over it. She simply found it peculiar.

These were mental notes to help him with the society she had grown up in later.

At almost the same time she sank her fork into the small piece of meat and cut away a portion, the flavor and texture an absolute delight, reminiscent of old times flooding her memory again as she smiled both from Kurt's apparent enjoyment, and the happiness she got to relive through such a simple act once more.

She lingered in silence as she enjoyed the work she and Kurt had done.

Unsurprisingly, Kurt finished what was on his plate rather quickly. He was an only child, but meals at his house had always been rather rushed for him. His mother insisted that dinner was always at four o clock, but sunset usually wasn't around seven. So of course Kurt had always rushed home, eaten as fast as he could, and then rushed back at. Couple that with his time in the military and everything that had happened since, well Kurt ate fast.

Of course in this particular instance he also went for seconds.

"It's really good, Honey." There was something about your girlfriend cooking for you that just made the meal a bit better. It was probably more of an emotional connection than anything else, but Kurt wouldn't try to explain it away. "I'll have to make sure you cook for me more often."

Something that would be easier if she stayed on Naboo more.

Their vacation locations hadn't usually had stoves, though the last one...well he wouldn't count that.

Having barely finished even half of her own plate she was surprised at just how much Kurt could eat and how quickly. Jamie watched him gather more onto his plate, about as much as the first time, and then settle back down to continue before the two caught eyes. For a second she didn't say anything, instead lingering with her fork a few inches from her lips as if in awe.

The look turned into a small burst of laughter. "Hungry?" She quipped. "Have you been eating on the ship?" Her tone turned to more of a concerned one than anything. Jamie knew credits weren't quite in abundance for him, and with everything going on maybe they had to cut back on things they purchased, but she never assumed food was one.

"Don't get me wrong I am flattered you enjoy it, I just don't want you to be starving yourself when you're running jobs either."

"Well..." It wasn't that he hadn't had food to eat, Kaile had tried her best to keep him fell fed but his appetite had all but disappeared.

The past few weeks had been hard on him, harder than he'd admitted to Jamie in their conversation. Kurt had nearly fallen to pieces throughout it all, and on top of that he had put on a brave face for Kaile, or at least as much as he could. He had wanted to be the good friend that he claimed to be, he had done everything he could to support her and make sure she had been comfortable. All that stress though, and knowing that he'd likely lost Jamie at the same time had gotten to him.

He'd simply not wanted to eat. "I just haven't had much of an appetite."

The Courier said quietly, a small amount of shame hidden within the words.

Not eating was a bit childish, but his emotions had simply weighed him down too much. Admitting to it made him feel like he was a little kid.

"I see. " What else was there to say? The words unspoken were what was important, the real why. She knew what he had meant, or at least, in part. She could surmise well enough what he was getting at by his tone and careful selection of words. "Well it seems to have picked up." Her head dipped down to catch his sight, pulling his head up by leading with her own tilt.

"So it's a good thing I made extra."

The blonde struck the softened veggies on her plate with the prongs of the fork, admiring them for a moment before lifting them and slowly pulling them freely away from the metal with her teeth. Truthfully she almost enjoyed them more than the Shaak itself. She had been raised to eat incredibly healthy, where typical snacks and treats were often replaced with fruits or vegetables. Still she preferred them, even if she occasionally indulged in sweets.

"Anyway, with everything that has been going on, have you been home to see your parents at all lately?"

Skipping over the exacts of it all was probably for the best.

"Yeah." He told her. "Right before Kaeshana."

The visit had been a very brief one, really not more than a conversation or two before he'd hook The Messa up to The Coil and flown away. His father and mother had been glad to see him, though they had of course been worried about him. It had been easy to tell that Kurt had been upset, though he'd never actually told them what had happened. Mostly because he'd been too distracted and ashamed to tell the whole story. They hadn't blamed him.

"I'll have to go back soon." He told her with a smile.

They would expect a visit.

"Tatooine has been pretty quiet lately." Unlike Naboo it seemed. "Nothing big going on."

"That's good." At least there was that. His own family was doing well enough, and it wasn't quite the focal point of a number of incidents in recent history, even if the planet itself was a rather hostile one by its' own merits. Kaeshana was likely to lead into a full scale conflict between the Alliance and the First Order, a group still rather alien to her. Thankfully Naboo was on the opposite corridor of Alliance space and relatively protected from this group.

Naboo had enough excitement to deal with for the time being.

"Quiet is never a bad thing. I could stand for a few weeks of quiet settling."

Or months, or years.
