Into The Valley [SJO Dominion of Ruusan Hex]

[member="Tanaski Yumi"]

Junko looked up as she heard the sounds... she looked at a ship finally arriving when she saw it and put her hand over her eyes to block out the sun. "Perhaps, there is a degree of luxury to it and you can always work to improve moral." She raised an eyebrow though and remained where she was swimming around before dunking her head into the water and coming up with her hand flinging her hair back into a single ponytail. The oils were gone from it but the bells and crystals within gleamed in the light. She was curious who was here and coming while a number of the workers in the valley were still going about their business on the statues and feeding some of the creatures that came around to meet them.

As her passengers got settled, Valae moved on her way to the cockpit and fired up the engines. Brows rose in a pleased manner, her ship sounded better than ever. Her palm slid across the console in front of her, and she turned as she recognized a familiar presence now entering behind her.

“Oh! Hi there, Jerit.” She said with a cheerful smile, “Yes – you’ve both done some very impressive work here. Pass along my compliments to your Master, will you?”

The corner of her smile twitched ever slightly, but she turned her attention to the controls. It was a rather odd situation; Valae felt like she ought to be quite close to Jyoti… but there was a strange sense of distance there at the same time. Perhaps it was just because things could never really be like they were…

Offering a small nod to Jerit in the co-pilot’s seat, she lifted the Tumbleweed off the ground… and off they went. It was a pleasant enough ride to their destination, the landscape of Ruusan was nothing like she’d seen before. Before long, she spotted a flash of green in the distance – the lightsaber of Cassius directing her to their landing spot. Valae set the ship down gently near the Stardust Melody, her eyes took in the lovely sight of Cassius’ ship outside the viewport.

“Well, we’re here.” Valae said, standing from her seat. “Would you mind rallying the troops?” She asked Jerit, as she lowered the ramp and made her way outside. But before she made it to the bottom, she paused for a brief moment. Now… what was that delicious smell?

Forcing herself to move on, she spotted Cassius and Solari standing up ahead.

“Greetings,” She offered a smile to both, “We made it, we’re all ready to go…” She turned back towards her ship, where folks were starting to disembark. “Well, just about ready, that is.”

Ashla, after staying true to her word and reading her book the entire time, snapped her book close as they were landed, and glided over to a window. She said "Ruusan."
She then sat down again, waiting for the ramp to be lowered. When it was, She was one of the first to walk out. She walked over the dusty ground and stood by the side, waiting for what others were going to do.

Piracy was more than ship versus ship, though that tended to be a large bit of it. Ship-to-shore was also a part, and this was where piracy and slavery tended to blend. Some of the outlaws were scrupulous, taking only possessions or preventing mistreatment of their targets. Others weren't so restrained and actively took beings as well. They could be held for ransom, sold to traders, kept as direct slaves, or any manner in between. It was one reason defense forces needed to be mindful.

The drop ships had been prepared, their crews were bringing systems online and running self-diagnostics as the Jedi entered the hangar. Soon enough everything except the sublight engines were up and running: throwing around intense amounts of harmful radiation in an enclosed space tended to be poor for beings' health. The two squads filed into the drop ships, Audren and his team took his place, and the transports themselves sealed up as the hangar began opening. Only then were the sublight engines lit off and directed to take the ships down into the planetary envelope.

"Tarlanc, tap into local comm channels and video feeds, encrypted and otherwise. Record everything, training mission is going live. Patch it through to the three datapads we set up for this. Also make sure we're capturing and recording everything from our teams as well."

"Yes, sir. Feeds coming up now."

One of the benefits of this being a training simulation: they had access to communications and video from both sides. A full analysis would take time, but the Sephi and two others who had come with him could perform a quick analysis based on what they saw and heard to share immediate feedback. Both were useful.

The two vessels had been modified slightly. Transponders showed them to be civilian vessels with only minimal armament. However, these were military-grade ships, with features appropriate to the class. Larger engines, heavy shields, and a respectable number of weapons were all visible if one looked closely enough and didn't simply trust the transponder information. Descending with other ships was designed to obscure that fact somewhat, to overwhelm the traffic controllers who normally had a mere fraction of these ships on any given day. Unfair, but all fairly simple for pirates to organize and enact. It would take several long minutes of flight time to hit the target zone; several minutes for defenders to recognize the enemy.

This was just one small simulation as well. As the transports had launched, Audren had spotted other vessels lumbering out of hyperspace. A full fleet as a matter of fact. He wouldn't want to be on the other side of that particular simulation...but he did want a recording of it. Should be entertaining to watch.

Pinkie Extended, Tea Sipping
Leah would look up from her baking area with a raised eyebrow, some flour from the tasty effort still sticking to her cheek. She examined the graceful Echani with a raised eyebrow as the woman was unable to resist even taking away the pastry before she sank her teeth into it. It seems her baking was improving. Leah was glad.

“Could I do interest either of you in some homemade tea blend?”

Leah took a metal cup and scooped some boiling water from the pan, reaching under the counter and producing a bag containing tea leaves, ones that would acquired from her homeworld- only the highest of quality ones too. She dropped it in the first cup she had filled and began to allow the teabag to stew. While this was happening, she turned to the Echani and offered her a soft smile and open arms. An offer for a hug, she had missed seeing the other woman, who could blame her?

“Hey you, it’s been a little while. C’mere and feel free to have some more scones.”

Still skinny dipping

Tana started to do laps around his master as the two swam around in the small lake, very much enjoying the cool feel of the water against his body, it had been quite while since his last pool trip, though having an actual swimsuit to wear would have been nice. "I am sure the workers would appreciated a nice place to relax after work, too cool down as well as relax their aching muscles". He decided to let his pony tail out for once, his long waving hair spreading out along the water as he loosened the small cord restricting it, his appearance more like that of his older sister, minus the multiple battle scars that dotted her skin. "Oh, do we have company"? the way Ike observed the shore line made the young Jin think others were nearing the small body of water, perhaps other saw what they were doing and decided to try it out for themselves?

Pash Tafo

Guest
P
Pash was at a disadvantage, his few days among the Silver Jedi leaving him woefully ignorant of who was who, aside from the few he had met at a welcoming gathering. The Matukai discerned that those who had just recently entered the Tumbleweed's lounge were knights, even masters, by their very presence if not by the reverence offered by the padawans or titles mentioned.

When the Echani drew near the baker (who did not appear to be Jedi), Pash stepped back, seeing the two greet warmly. He was a newcomer, a non-Jedi, and would not interfere in a reunion. He would introduce himself later. Instead, he took up a scone and the cup of tea offered, and with a nod of gratitude to the woman, found a seat. His body detected the subtle shift of the ship as it decelerated and prepared to land.

The Matukai warrior allowed the aromatic tea to steep as he devoured the scone, nodding a greeting to the tall Jedi with the HK model droid, the one the Echani (he believed to be Master Noornan) referred to as Master Dragonsflame. Pash found he learned as much by listening than by asking many questions.

The Tumbleweed settled with a soft thump again to Ruusan's dusty surface and Pash did his best to finish the tea. It was a great compliment to the scone, he would have to thank the mystery baker for her hospitality.

Pash looked out a veiwport to see the YT-1000 parked nearby. He gathered his gear from a corner and gathered with the others as they made their way towards the ramp.

"Sure, I wouldn't mind playing a game."

The ride shouldn't be a long one, but having a bit of fun should pass the time nonetheless.

When the Tumbleweed arrived at the desired destination, Reggie gathered his gear and prepared to depart the ship. When they landed, he quickly exited the ship, joining the others outside.

"The highlight of the day is approaching soon my fellow Padawans!"

Reggie said this with a smile, excitement showing on his face.

Junko gave a nod of her head as she could observe the area the ship landed from the water and moved to stand up a little. Letting the force project with her vocal cords when she bellowed and spoke. "Over here, welcome." She said it while waving an arm and looked at her padawan. "Yes we do, finally thought it would take them all day to make a decision." She said it with a grin on her face when the workers who were all around them remained standing for a moment before going back to work. "Don't just stand there, make sure the ship is good and direct it to the landing area if they aren't already there. THese are people we might know and decorum should be observed." Junko was standing there but remained in the water while she just watched the shore and kept her head above.

"Alright," Zavii grinned at Reggie and moved over to the holoboard table in one corner. They played a strategy game that involved placing symbol-tiles in different configurations to move them around a board and capturing or taking control of each other's pieces, but couldn't finish the game before the ship landed. "Damn," the girl flashed her sharp teeth as she shut off the board and stood up, "I guess we'll have to try again later."

She moved to follow the others out of the ship, taking one of the pastries from a plate as she left and bit into it as she walked down the ramp. "Oh wow," she marveled at the treat and looked around for the lady who'd made them once they were all on solid ground. "Hey, this is really good!"

It was then after all was said and done given all the recent few encounter or events he had found himself in. That no matter how he pushes it away from his mind there was no denying the fact. The sway and hold of the dark past were still there threatening to undo much of what he had work hard accomplished these past few season. Under the not so recent conclusion of his time spent under the guidance of the healer in the temple to the present. Where pour himself to dig deep within most of the archive he could including those found in Alderaan.

mTurcwM.png

That he felt it was time to test the theory and hope it could gain him a better perspective on things. As he'd stood there and let the thought linger in his mind....having faced as well surrounded himself in the midst of the darkness. What if any could doing the opposite would do? That instead of bringing death could he bring himself or even attempt the opposite? Now that he came into possession of the knowledge of his ancestor past...that despite all the secrecy or sordid rumors that surrounded their existence long ago. That there was some merit to them so few outside knew off....that it was here he figured to be a good place as any give it a shot now that thought the dark influence still linger. Was, for the most part, kept its affiliation to the light somewhat intact.

It was at this point after silently making his way here planetside alongside the other he slipped off and head in the opposite direction. Where the camp was established to hopefully save the planet decay and reestablish life as it once was those many years ago. Yet in the back his mind as he arrived his thought linger to those few he knew who came here as well. Pursuing whatever path leads them here or idea they had...wishing them well at the same time keep them close in mind.

Objective: Pilgrimage, Shadow Mission (BYOO)

"Master Karr!" she greeted, immediately setting down her scone to give her senior a small bow of respect. She would have addressed him sooner if she hadn't found him already occupied.

"No, thank you for coming," she replied as she straightened up. "Grandmaster Kitra and myself are delighted to have you with us today."

This was the first time the two Jedi had met in person, but Jyoti knew Kian Karr by reputation, once being a Republic Jedi herself. In her mind, the senior Shadow was just about as close to a living legend as one could get. In these dark times, the galaxy was all the better for his return to service.

"I'm sure you will be. Disturbances like this rift are right up our alley as Shadows."

As far as she knew, physical barriers had been erected around the site, but that was only a stopgap. With the reinvigorated Sith on the hunt for anything to expand their power, it was only a matter of time before they stopped by Ruusan again. The rift needed to be closed before they ever had a chance to make use of it for their twisted ends.

"Master Junko Ike is in the valley at the moment. As she has the most insight on the rift and the current protections in place, I wanted to consult with her before taking any action."

Josh answered her invitation for some scones. She immediately it may have been a mistake to acknowledge him he verbalized his sense of Déjà vu, making her stomach knot.

She gave him a dumbfounded expression as she thought of an appropriate response, then broke out into a giggle as she forced herself to relax. Just keep your cool, he doesn't know.

"I was told that you could be quite the charmer, looks like the stories are true."

The Echani reciprocated his flirtations to deflect attention away from her by a little ego stroking. Josh may be a Jedi Master, but he was still a man, well known for his romantic attachments; she knew exactly how to push his buttons.

"Having both you and Master Karr in the same room," she said, switching subjects for further deflection. "I didn't think I'd ever see the day. Perhaps a sign of great things to come."

(Thankfully) she was pulled away from the conversation as Leah took notice of her snacking earlier, offering tea, and a hug. The gesture took her by surprise, but she embraced the Countess with a friendly embrace, then pulled back to address her.

"Countess Winsclav," she replied with a nod. "Thank you, but I'm afraid at this rate there won't be any left for Jerit or Kitra up front if I have anymore."

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a man (Pash) slowly retreating from the vicinity of the pair. Her gaze lingered on him for a few moments, intrigued by his unique style, something she hadn't encountered before. His manner all dark and mysterious, it enticed the curious Shadow to engage with him later outside of the large gathering happening in the lounge right now.

Her attention returned to Leah as the hunky stranger made his way out of the lounge. Taking in Leah's face again, she was bothered by a spot of flour.

"Ah, you have a little something on your cheek." She squinted as she reached out to fleck away the flour.

"I'll certainly take you up on the offer of tea. I'll pack away a few of these scones in the meantime."

She reached into the cabinet for a small container with dividers, storing away three scones along with some cream and jam. One for Jerit, and two for Valae (she pondered taking one more to give Valae three, but that was just too gluttonous).

By the time she finished packing away the scones, Tumbleweed had landed. Even without a report by the droid brain, she could feel that they were in the right place, suddenly immersed in strong currents of the Force. This was certainly the Valley of the Jedi alright.

"Looks like we'll have to take that tea to go. I'll meet you all outside."

She gave pat on the shoulder, then nodded to Karr and DragonsFlame as she left the lounge for her hiking gear and equipment.

Of course, he didn't know that he was actually talking to Arisa Yune. Yes, she looked familiar, felt familiar by his senses, but... Arisa Yune had died. And if she were alive, he'd have figured she'd have told him. She knew he'd cared about her, he hadn't been shy about that. When Arisa Yune had been pressured into stepping down as Grandmaster and had intents of trying to flee out of known range to clear her head - something that Josh had done for a number of years himself - he tried his best to find some way to cheer her up. Sure, she hadn't actually shown up to the plans, but he'd done his best to try to make things right for her. When she had needed him for the Jedi Enclave, he had obliged. When she needed him for the ill-fated "Jedimoot", for all of it's headaches he had obliged. So he'd figured that at the least, if Arisa was alive somewhere, he would have thought she'd have told him.

Unfortunately, as it was, he was still under the impression that she was dead. And yet this women seemed uncomfortable for a moment when he had spoken, and his lips would spread into a frown a moment. He felt horrible for potentially making her uncomfortable when really he was just joking around. His tendency to speak his mind though, was something that "Jyoti" should have been used to by now. Especially him turning whatever was on his mind into a joke. But it'd been fired with the best of intentions, he hadn't meant to make her uncomfortable. Even as she would respond in what seemed to be a positive matter, he still felt off about the whole thing, and cursed himself for being so rash when he was just trying to - more or less - make a funny. Perhaps deep down, part of him was trying to humor cope over the loss of Yune. It'd weighed on him heavily, even if he didn't voice it.

Regardless, he smiled weakly in turn. "So I'm told" He would respond with a tone of amusement as she would be pulled away for some other conversation. She'd mentioned another Master who's name he vaguely recognized. He recalled them as being on the Republic's Jedi Council when some hairbrained moron had tricked Corvus Raaf in an attempt to have his Masterhood revoked by a faction he wasn't even a part of any longer.

Regardless, he would finish off the treat and, seeming to enjoy the taste, casually grab another one. Probably for the best, as he didn't know that [member="Valae Kitra"] would before long steal whatever was left.

"Cost overruns. I wonder how familiar you are with those things"

"I'm not overly familiar with cost overruns; I'm more familiar with megaprojects"

"I can't blame you: this is a risk I know the SEC, and even Ringo before that, is at risk of running into. Do you have any idea why cost overruns would have localized impact as opposed to even sector-wide, let alone galaxy-wide?"

"The projects themselves, mostly. Other reasons include cultural standards that are wildly variable"

Jessica knew that sometimes, a cost overrun would adversely impact a company, or a planetary government, to the point some called for a resignation, and prosecution even, of the parties responsible for such, provided they actually are not due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. disaster); however, it might be simply because of cultural differences between species, the differences in how they approach public or corporate finances. To Jessica anyway. More than simply the very few megaprojects of interstellar scope. Like the Sanctuary Pipeline, the first two Death Stars (the third was not as large a project) and also Starkiller Base. Even a government district in a factional capital would not usually make much of a deal beyond the planet itself if a cost overrun scandal erupts, or other infrastructure projects on a specific planet. Especially those species for whom the concepts of fiscal or financial responsibility may be mostly foreign to them, and, unfortunately, there were more of those than Catria would be even be led to think about. Especially since it was perceived as a mostly-taboo topic among Jedi.

Cassius nodded at Solari’s words, looking out across the deep gorges, with burnt orange rocks and yellow sand. Peaceful. That was one way to describe it. At least the air was dry, so the heat was bearable. There was nothing Cassius hated more than humidity. It was something that he hadn’t even experienced until he’d set foot on another planet other than Rinn.

“Let’s hope it stays that way,” he said.

The ramp to the Tumbleweed hissed open, and Cassius sighed as he watched the newcomers disembark. His eyes squinted as a lopsided grin found its way onto his features. Grandmaster Kitra approached, and Cassius nodded, still not used to the whole bowing thing that a lot of Jedi did. “Good to see you, Grandmaster,” he said. His eyebrows raised as he looked over her shoulder to the growing number of people behind her. “Big group,” he commented, “let’s hope we don’t lose any of them along the way.”

He spotted a familiar face, Master Jyoti Nooran. As the others were coming down the ramp and taking in the sights, Cassius stepped over to her briefly. “Master,” he shook her hand, making eye contact and giving her a curt nod as he did so. Upon retracting her hand, Master Nooran would find a small datachip in her palm, one that would be compatible with her datapad. As part of his scouting duties, Cassius had collected bits of information from the natives about the dark side rift she was here to close. He didn’t know if it would be helpful or not, but he figured he’d gather everything he could.

Walking back to Valae and Solari, Cassius casually put his hands on his hips as he looked around their big group. “Okay, Icheb,” Cassius turned to the diminutive Ruusanian, “ready.”

“Okay, we go,” Icheb said, immediately beginning to walk towards a path that would take them down into the valley.

“Alright everyone,” he raised his voice so everyone would hear, treading backwards so that he was facing everyone as he moved. “Let’s get a move on.”

It didn’t take them long before they had descended into the Valley, the area much cooler here due to the shade the gorge provided. Loose rocks shuffled about at their feet, their boots and attire no doubt scuffed and dusty by this point. He was at the head of the group, next to Icheb, with T-4D4 trailing close behind. This kind of terrain was nothing for the seven-foot-tall droid – he was taking all of it in stride, literally.

The air felt a different way here, and it wasn’t the slight altitude change. Their very surroundings seemed to be alive and yet dead at the same time – it was the Force. It was becoming stronger and stronger the closer they got to the Valley of the Jedi. Despite the spirits that had been trapped there were set free hundreds of years ago, it was still a powerful site.

Ashla trudged along after him, slightly annoyed by the dust collecting on the base of her black robe-it was in stark contrast-but could not be bothered to clean it every few hundred feet. She too could feel the difference in the force, and looked around. It was still a very barren location, and she herself in general hated deserts, but maybe a cooler-tempature wise-desert would be nicer. She leaned down and picked up some dust, thinking about the battle that was fought on this soil.

[SIZE=11pt]Tana looked up as a ship passed overhead, a familiar force signature coming from inside, if he had to guess it was Cassius a Jedi who he had met a few times, the ship landing a few clicks away from the small lake, most likely a group of Jedi seeking to explore the valley as they had but a few minutes ago. "Well if there are other Jedi coming here I may want to get dressed again, may be a little inappropriate with my current lack of clothing and all", a slight joke but also serious in a sacred place such as this, especially if there where several master present as well. "Master, would you mind giving me a little cover to allow me time to change back into my Yukata"? [/SIZE]

Junko looked at him and gave a nod of her head. She should change as well and could see others who were coming along. Grabbing her robes and sliding her feet into the wooden geta. "Agreed." SHe moved a hand and slid into the white current, allowing a small illusion to obscure him and keep him covered for the moment while he got changed. "Quickly, the illusion won't last long." She said it but she was going over to see a few of the other people here. She could see them coming down the ramp of ta ship and shrugged getting her hair straight, ready and the kimono wrapped around herself. She secured her belt and saber while brushing herself off. "Ah we look all pretty again."

It then seemed after a brief pause as he did well to take in order center his thought and acclimate himself to his surrounding. Which as strange as it would seem to other was not so for him. As in the back, his mind recent lesson learn and gain outside of that which he knew outside that of battle or destruction was a welcome change of pace. That of which thought it still held some time get used to or be comfortable enough at the same time confident enough even attempt such a feat. Did have its linger hold in his mind but then again he counters this by think ...now was good a time as much this place was to try.

So once settled he then proceed to move off making his way to the opposite camp where the other seems were going. As now more than ever, he felt compeled for once make a change for hopefully the better on the path he was on.

Too weird to live, too rare to die!
Solari gave [member="Cassius Droma"] a brief smile, then stepped back as the crowd emerged from the ship, watching them with a fascination that was completely unmachine-like, despite her appearance.

As the group started to move, she kept a loose pace with Cassius as both guide, and person she recognised the most, her gaze drifting slowly around the Valley. As they began to descend deeper, her eyes - photoreceptors, really - took on a more distant gaze.

Leah would startle as the woman flicked away the flour that was on her cheek, before giggling softly and then spinning on her heel to make tea. This woman was absolutely relentless with her teasing and it was throwing Leah off! She moved the hot water into the cups and made enough tea for about 10 people, leaving the sugar, milk and honey to the side for people to pour into the cup themselves.

“You need to be careful with those Scones, I find they can become quite addicting. As for the people who want tea, I didn’t know how they like it, then gotta grab the additions yourself.”
