Invasion of Alderaan, faction talk

[member="Mantic Dorn"] Yes, I just ask, because it doesn't make sense to go into that invasion (which I don't understand the point of, but I digress) while having their talk go on. However, as of this point, Alderaan has officially seceded from the Republic?

[member="Jaccer Ramirez"] I'm talking about the specific instance of the Mandalorians or Alderaanians attacking us unprovoked. Civility goes out of the window. I don't expect to ever resort to doing anything crazy like that though, assuming everyone on their side is reasonable.

We're going in because the Mandos want us to. OOC, we're abiding by the rules. IC, the talks that happen outside the Invasion will have an effect inside the Invasion thread.

[member="Draco Vereen"] Eh, that's not what I said at all. I said, if your camp decided to shoot up the Republic delegation, then to take hostages. Because that prevents us from being killed or being taken as hostage/POWs ourselves. I also said that there is probably no chance that such a measure would need to be taken, as long as everyone behaves like civilized individuals.

To be clear, no one in the GR is going into Alderaan to start a fight, and I personally think everyone would be better off with Alderaan remaining neutral or becoming some Mandalorian protectorate. Then we could get back to the business of dealing with your One Sith friends.

Yes, the Sith are the bigger issue. But this one has to be concluded first. Besides, the Sith are dealing with their own internal squabbles at the moment.

This stuff is giving me a headache.

IC reasons

1. The Queen has decided that the Republic is untrustworthy. Faith has reported back in all happenings as is her duty

A. Actions of Genevieve Lasedri

. B. Actions of Ali Hadrix. She could have after the battle turned herself in and allowed justice to be served. And proven her guilt or innocence instead she disappeared. Smearing the Republic reputation. Republics inaction to work to show their resolve that they aren't a bunch of thugs.

C inaction of Republic to assist Alderaan even though they continued to have access to planet resource. Could have sent forces to at least kill the leviathan

. D. Efforts of Organa family in service to the Republic demeaned down to the attitude of and this is paraphrased, "eh who cares we will just fund some other planet"

E. For years laws have been attempted to be passed that were so close to being the Empire it becomes difficult to see what the republic truly is anymore. Or what their mission is

Republic is not the beacon it once was. It has become an entity to be distrusted. And years of watching has culminated into a fear of what will happen next. Alderaan will not assist any longer when we must live in fear of what would happen next.

And what suffering could befall the people of Alderaan because of an action or inaction of the Republic. It is easier to survive on our own or under the protection of the Clans who understand loyalty, and honor family.

Your mission. Convince them differently. What benefit is there to staying? Why stay? What makes the Republic better than the Mandalorians?

[member="Alyesa Organa"] did I miss anything ?

As for personal guards. My opinion. Don't know how it will be handled You can bring them. But. They will not be allowed in the throne room. And they will wait outside. If they do anything that indicates an act of aggression. Alderaan Royal guard will imprison them.

Of course what I said was taken in the wrong way....But that's what happens in heated discussions.

I have seen the Mandos attack a peaceful planet, kill innocent people, destroy villages and send people to re-education camp. It was heartbreaking....I don't want to see it happen again :(

How does this even work out map wise? If the pubs lose then does alderaan just become neutral space up for grabs by a Dominion by OS? It is literally on the border of OS space? With the mandoloriams on the opposite end with no territory whatsoever touching it...?

There's a rumour going around that the Mandos would break the cloud by taking Alderaan as I guess they would get some kind of boundary moving from their territory through Republic space. And that with board rules, we would lose half of our planets to....I dunno, neutral space? Mandos automatically get it all? No idea how that works.

It's two hexs away from their territory... Which is why I bring this up. Per the invasion rules it wouldn't expand their cloud. Also that was the case them we should really be aiming at invading the rear end of OS space cause that sounds like someone trying use a loop hole in the rules.

Another brought that up in the other invasion thread. It's hard to say and even the board admin that I spoke to earlier is confused as to why there is an invasion in the first place. So he had no advice or anything to give other than he didn't envy me. I'm sure that whatever the result, it'll still have people scratching their heads as to what comes next.

Yes, I know. Every planet in the Republic has its right to its own government. If they dont want to take part in the senate etc that is fne ic way and thats what happened storywise. But now this plot has turned into an invasion and that gives us these ooc rules and consequences for the map game to take into account. So here we are. Hopefully it might be a first step to broaden the invasion perspective, or not.
Lets see how it playes out.

I think bodyguards would make 100% ic sense but I might be wrong and reading here I suspect it will be used against you as an aggressive act or something so I would advice against it.

You guys know that Caamas is neutral and has been for years.

Neither the Sith nor the Republic has touched it.

Just making this point because everyone is worrying about the map game more than the stories involved.

Anyways, better responses to come when the invasion begins or whatever.

And no Faith, you covered it.

I also advise against any bodyguards within the direct vicinity of delegations as it will be taken as an act of aggression. Weapons, etc will not be permitted unless you are royal guard.

It's late and I'm tired.

So that's it for me for tonight.
