Invasion of Carida: June 20

This is why we can't have invasions with members of the site's staff on either side. If they CAN abuse the rules in their favor, they will.

Between Popo's rules lawyering and Aden's power gaming, it seems like this entire thing is being railroaded in favor of a Republic victory.

I say we need to get an RP Judge involved in this, a NEUTRAL one. Popo and Ayden are too likely too abuse their authority to gain an advantage, so we can't trust them to be impartial.

Alright, but I probably am not the best person to contact her, considering that I'm fairly new here and don't need to start major altercations without being properly established.

If you have a problem with a member, whether staff, fj, or writer, you can always speak to an RPJ. Their doors are always open and it is better to discuss it with them than to let it sit and aggravate you. That said, they will almost always encourage you to speak with the person in question first before they step in, though in extreme circumstances they will step in at the start.

Well considering that I've basically talked Popo into a corner, it seems that may not be necessary (he claimed we have a numerical advantage, which is BS - our numerical advantage wasn't even properly used because two of our fleeters didn't have a clue what fleeting actually meant, and so we're now replacing one of said fleeters with somebody who does, and THAT'S what they're pitching a fit over, because if they were forced to allow this, our naval tonnage would outnumber them two to one, but technically they're outnumbering us on the ground, so it evens out)

At the end of the day, however, he has a point. Ayden and Popo are the only two fleeters we're up against (though they're pretty damned good ones). Our numerical advantage, even with obsolete ships, would give us a greater chance of victory in space, and with the Republic fleet swept aside, their allies on the ground will effectively be forced to either surrender, retreat, or be destroyed due to lack of their naval support.

So that explains Popo. I DISAGREE with his logic for complaining, but I understand what he's saying (then again, that's irrelevant, because I would have just as much of a vested interest as he would).

Ayden, on the other hand, seems not to understand that the curious thing about technology in Star Wars is how remarkably slowly it improves. His ships probably aren't a whole lot better than ours, even with more advanced systems and armament. They might be CHEAPER, but that's about it.

Technological advancement rates fluctuate, honestly. In the past 100 years, we've seen leaps and bounds of technological advancement. I remember my first cell phone was a simple device that called or texted with nothing more. Now, I have a smart phone that I can game on, text, call, skype chat, video chat, check my email, post on the board, view my bank accounts, etc.

In the same breath, during the Dark Ages technology arguably regressed and advanced slowly for hundreds of years until the Renaissance period when it progressed once more.

In that light, both sides have merit and both sides have valid points. However, as the shipbuilding guide is the law of the land so far as ships are concerned, ships and fleeting, both canon and non-canon, must be balanced accordingly for all.

Decided to go with Plan B and brought in my surprise reinforcements, an Allegiance Class Battlecruiser and some cruisers which are beginning to engage the Leviathan. Hope they are of some use [member="Darth Shara"]

Indeed. Ships of that size may only be used under certain circumstances...and this probably isn't one of them.

Personally I feel this goes over the edge with power gaming, but then again, Ayden's power gaming, but I'm worried about lenseman escalation that could cause it to get out of control.

[member="Mike Zenima"] Please take it out. 2km is over the limit for a faction like us. You see, here on SWRP we have established rules on what certain factions are capable of doing and developing. Certain factions like OP have been around a loooong time and have garnered resources through Events, development threads, etc... This allows them to have several largers ships, that we don't have access too. Anything under 2km is fine for your flagship, anything under 1km is fine for any amount of support ships you want up to 25km of total length.

In the future i suspect we will start making ships of our own, mostly because this has put everyone in such a tizzy that its not worth the effort.

Thanks man, this thread has already been filled with OOC complaints and moaning. Don't need any more.

Excellent. You can still have a Star Destroyer as your flagship though, such as a Pallaeon or an Imperial class.

Actually, you COULD use an Imperious-class as your flagship (slightly larger than a Palleaon, but equipped with better weaponry, more starfighters, and requires a smaller crew)
