Invasion of Roche OOC [GR vs Mandos]

Sensor... Radiation?

I could also argue that the point of having dedicated sensor frigates and corvettes is to detect stealthed ships. Without a means of detecting such ships (such as including advanced sensors capable of bypassing such stealth technology), then there would be no validity to any such ships dedicated to the role of detection.

Don't worry though. Gir and I are talking about it in a PM.
Ok gotcha!

I mentioned radiation because I'm assuming sensors in Star Wars use some sort of radiation in order to glean information. Like sensors in real life bounce radiation off objects in order to identify them; the type and strength of a return signal tells you something about the object you're targeting.

But you have a point about dedicated vessels as well; any technology should have a counter part that can potentially neutralize it.

Yup. For reference, this is what I'm going off of for the detection.

Ulur'uur Frigate
The ship is also equipped with an advanced Dedicated Energy Receptor that passively scans nearby space for electromagnetic emissions. Like all DER's commonly found in military grade starships, the Ulur'uur's sensors were able to detect emissions from lasers, beacons, and comlink transmissions as well as actively scan a specific ship or structure for weaknesses based on energy fluctuations. Due to the high strength of the Ulur'uur's advanced sensors, the ship was able to detect metallic objects in space as passive electromagnetic fields reacted to the material. Due to this feature, the Ulur'uur is unparalleled as an early warning system against minefields.

I'm Sexy and I Know It
And even if those manage to slide by, insulting an entire culture in their face at the beginning of a battle, simultaneously destroying any and all possibilities of diplomatic resolution and starting a fully fledged war on a second front for a faction already struggling to face one threat already... at best, if this were RL, that's a court martial where they throw the book at you lol

For all interested parties, Janira sent a transmission to the senate and to all major news networks with information on the atrocity committed on Roche under orders of Ali Hadrix.
Abigail did similar prior to the venting of civilians.

It might take me a bit to figure out my next post. Any recommendations on damage would be appreciated as I'm a little new at this.

Honestly, as little or as much as you want. People started including a handful of LR and HRL weapons on all of their ships, so I made the Concordia. It's designed to engage an entire enemy formation by itself while other ships (specialized brawlers) keep the enemy away from it. Deck Cannons fire 1 shot Mass Driver and 1 shot Ion Cannon. There is a chance that the ion cannon will weaken the shields long enough for the mass driver round to punch through (similar to your 3-shot Javelin weapons), but it's not a guaranteed thing. Nor is it 100% official. It's just... a thing. You could just take heavy damage to shields, you could have the front half of your ships take heavy damage, you could divert power to forward shields, you could use maneuvering thrusters to get closer to the asteroids for cover, you could just "dive" (dip the nose down) and go full speed towards the asteroids to try and get out of the line of fire.

You've got a lot of options. But you've got 3,100 meters of Dreadnoughts with 100% Heavy Long Range weaponry firing at 2,000 meters of ships (and a handful of corvettes, but those aren't being fired at) with split HLR and close range weaponry. Tactically, you're out-numbered and out-gunned. And with the jamming, and the opposing ships moving (meaning they just became even harder to hit), you'd know you were in a bad spot.

Personally? I'd put all available power to forward shield, dip the prow down 45-80 degrees, and floor it into the asteroid field for cover. You might not maneuver well in there, but the Corvettes can cover your flank. And with as much forward facing firepower as you have, you'd be able to do some serious damage if you can manage to point-blank another heavy cruiser / light star destroyer. You'd likely take a hell of a beating in the process, but you'd survive, spend a few turns doing emergency repair while trying to limp closer to the rest of the Republic Fleet, and come back into the fight as a rear-line support ship. (since you'd be damaged)

I'd ask for some advice from Gir and Resh though. Coordinate with them about what they plan on doing and how you can best support that. You brought some great ships to the fight. Personally, I think they are the best of everything brought in on the Republic side of this fight. Had you not given Larraq a warning before shooting, you'd have probably have crippled his ship with that salvo.

Having served in the military, I can tell you that's literally not true at all. Lol

I know this is the IC bad guy, but that's some super on point advice. I'm regretting not fleeting just for the experience opportunity. There weren't many good fleeters on my last site that I ran into much.
