Campaign It Will Burn | TB Campaign of SJC held Dandoran, Nar Chunna, Nar Kreeta, Kintan & Klantooine

Beltran jogged through the deserted streets of Kreeta City, breathing deeply of the air through the opened vent on his helmet. Blood mixed with cordite, fire and death. This was what Beltran had been born for. Not diplomacy-trying to reason, in vain, with the beings shooting at you. Carnage and slaughter, that was what the Bryn'adul brought with them wherever they went.

And that was what Beltran would have waiting for them here.

From the very moment that it had become apparent that the newest Bryn'adul invasion would come to a head on Nar Kreeta, Beltran had made sure that Paladin Company would be part of the defense. Made up almost entirely of surviving Rangers from Yurb, it could be said that this moment was what the unit had been formed for.

At the head of three platoons of fifty men each, Beltran moved quickly down the streets toward the marketplace. It appeared that this would be where the Lorrdian and his company of killers would be needed the most, as the Bryn'adul were attempting to use the large area that ran underneath of the city to get inside.

As they arrived, they would find that the Bryn'adul had already begun their assault. A maze of buildings, alleyways, nooks and crannies, the Marketplace was a veritable nightmare to assault. What was even worse, the SJC defenders had something in this battle that they hadn't on Yurb: Time. Every block, every street, every inch of ground that the Bryn'adul marched on had been prepared to kill them. Jedi and Rangers as well as Standard Defense Force Troopers and planetary militias, all were arrayed to bring the invaders to their knees. And at the worst of it all? Beltran and his Paladins.

"Spread out in your assigned groupings," Beltran called over the company's comnet. For this battle, Beltran had outfitted his three platoons differently. First platoon, which Beltran personally led was geared up in powered combat armor and sporting the chainsaw equipped "Bonecutter" Blaster Rifles. These were the tip of the spear, the one's who were going to get up close with the Bryn'adul and make them pay.

Second platoon was assigned as the midline, armed with the Predator Rifles and their ability to switch between incendiary and cryo-ban projectiles, they would be providing support to the First. They would also act as reserves when the causalities began to mount.

Third Platoon would array itself in strategically important areas. They would shore up the fortifications that were already there with Akk Dog Portable Shield Generators. They would find sniper blinds, taking out high priority targets with Anti-Material rifles and they would create machine gun nests to keep the rank-and-file Bryn at bay.

With practiced efficiency, the Rangers of Paladin Company would fan out in this manner, creating a walking line that stretched out over several blocks. Beltran would be among the first of the Company to come into contact with the enemy, in a square not far from the center of the Marketplace. It would be with a fair feeling of glee that he would lead the first charge into their lines.

Even in the quasi-underground state of the marketplace, it had been a good choice to elevate himself. From his new vantage point, the First of the Risen scouted out the area, observing as the conflict raged far below. He peered from above, feeling as though he had taken on the role of one of a Zealot in the process. Was this what they typically did during their missions into the most dangerous points of an enemy line? Did they scout from relative safety, and all the while take credit for the work being conducted by those in the midst of battle? Surely they faced their own dangers, but he couldn't help but to wonder whether a life of merely espionage and reconnaissance would be more suitable to his longevity.

He watched as all manner of events unfolded. He watched as a youth -- he was familiar enough with the slaughter to recognize when the humankind were young or old, having seen a bit of both throughout his campaigns -- ambushed a band of Risen slashing his laser sword to and fro in a seemingly disorganized assault. ( Starlin Rand Starlin Rand ) Moments after he had inflicted some light wounding and at least a possible casualty on the Srael, he retreated back around one of the many corners of the marketplace maze. Were he not familiar with the cowardly nature of his foe, he might've inclined those on the ground to pursue, perhaps offered oversight from their vantage point, but it was clear by the shoddy assault that the enemy had an ambush on the other side of the street corner.

Elsewhere, he observed as less fortunate Sraelvun were cut down in droves by a strike-team of Jedi and their pets. He wasn't certain of the nature of the minuscule entities scuttling across the ground, because his height relative to them made them nigh imperceptible, but it was obvious that they were playing a key role in the conflict. At least one or two of his brethren fell to their deaths without having even been stricken by one of the Jedi, and he knew that they would not cower or fall victim to shock or fear -- Sraelvun were bred to die, after all. ( Jyoti Nooran Jyoti Nooran )

In the distance, inferior humans in fairly substantial equipment appeared to be lining themselves up, and while the exact nature of their placement was concealed by structures scattered about the place, there was little doubt that they were serving as a sort of reserve catch-all for whatever managed to pass through their verminous brethren. ( Beltran Rarr Beltran Rarr ) Their armament in truth seemed particularly weighty even from his vantage-point... perhaps the human version of Juggernauts?

"General Keldothera Keldothera , this is Osam." He began, stepping away from the edge of the structure, and directing his squad to it with a mime of shooting. They had the go-ahead to pick off targets they could perceive while he gave his report, and they took to the opportunity with the efficient movements common among their kind.

"The enemy have control of most of this marketplace. There is a suspected ambush -- you've doubtless heard the reports of a squad of Risen being assaulted by Jedi -- it is there. There is also a strikeforce of especially fast Jedi with small creatures of deadly ability approaching. They've eliminated a Drone squad already, and are still moving."

He paused, allowing this information to sink in. "The enemy have heavily equipped soldiers in a backline behind all of their friends. We'll struggle to pierce through from here. Our assault on the marketplace is going to grind to a halt in its current iteration. It may be best to recall the troops and regroup." He offered, waiting to hear back from the leader of their assault.

The infernal creature continued to ignore his commands. It remained, hidden and silent. It smelled his fear, and it detested it. But that fear only grew as Bryn'adûl transports came down all around them, scorched carcasses of dropships and gunboats broke atmosphere. In his heart, he felt the Titan careening toward the planet surface. Something of instinct or of the force drew his eyes to one particular gunboat, spinning violently into a defence tower.

Over the battlenet the word of bombs and various artillery strikes could be heard. Things in the city were turmoil, one could feel it from a distance. But the more consuming notion was the echo of pain coming from the Chieftain's wreckage. He had his duty, but his mind was rife with fear at the notion of the impending moment. Like a knife at his throat, his heart thumped in his chest. But, he had faith - faith that they could endure whatever was to come their way. The Bryn'adûl would be strong, together and united they were strong. But he would be of no use to them if he could not control his fear.

Or perhaps his fixation with control was the very issue. He could not stop what would become of Tathra, what would happen would always happen. As Primarch of the Shamans, he had a duty that went beyond his personal desires. The call from the Emissary came, with only a thought two groups of six Syphons would begin to spread out across their forces deployment, the Syphons acted individually - using their impressive syphoning abilities to locate nearby technology. If there were more of these traps, they would find them.

Scattered reinforcements began pouring in from the various landed dropships and gunboats, travelling on foot by the thousand, lead by numerous drones. Though it indeed seemed only a portion of their reinforcements had survived.

"Galak, hundreds of Drones will be pouring into the city as they find avenues of entry. Your reinforcements are coming but they will not be enough. They need to be organised into functioning attack groups. Also it appears the enemy has hidden artillery attacking our tanks, we need those found and dealt with."

He ignored the Hands brash comments about the Servitor. He would master this creature, it would bend to his will.

"Heed me Guardian, I call you to battle!" The Guardian fought back, easily pushing the Primarch from its mind as it remained hidden. Never before had a beast forced him from it in such a way. Shock filled him, if any Shaman knew - he would be humiliated. He had to regain control of the beast.

He shot upright as he woke, pushing away the fallen debris and bodies without thinking as his eyes shot about the wreckage. Quickly he counted maybe fifteen bodies inside, half of the ships deployment was dead. Though, all about the ruined boat were multiple tears, areas where they could have fallen or been flung from. Tathra rose to stand, but quickly fell onto his palms; legs falling under him. Feeling came back to his body, old bones and muscle ached, bruised and battered. The old Drael let out a long groan, feeling the torn muscle ligaments of his dislocated shoulder. Pah! He spat a mouthful of black blood crawling up his throat.

He raised his left gauntlet with what little mobility he had, directing the communication stone embedded into the gauntlet in the direction of his mouth.

"This is the Chieftain, I need an update on the battle." Nothing, perhaps his communicator was damaged. Or, whatever they had crashed into was capable of blocking signals from the inside.

He had to escape this wreckage and find his kin, no matter how hard they had been hit. He knew the warriors of the Bryn'adûl, his Draelvasier would endure no matter what. And it was his responsibility to lead them. He would need two working arms for that.

Tathra crawled onto his knees, grasping his left arm in his right, just below the dislocation. It was sensitive, but he needed his left arm more than he needed not to feel pain. Gritting his teeth, he snapped his shoulder back into place. Not perfect, but it'd have to do for now. He rose finally, the massive crimson Drael stood like a herculean monument among the vicious wreckage of flesh and metal. With a single step, the ground shook; only now did he realise he was standing on top of the right hatch of the Boat, the metal gave; the hatch opened, dropping Tathra down, sliding into a pit of metal wreckage and concrete debris. The defence tower they had crashed into seemed to be crumbling around them, laying there he felt tired. But, something inside urged him to climb. His people needed him, if they were to prosper they needed to endure whatever was thrown at them, and so did he. With determined eyes, he crawled out from the sand mixed debris filled pit. It was deep, his fingers dug into the sand and metal - pulling him upward.

He climbed and climbed, slowly making his way upward toward the surface level. Ahead, his Axe was embedded in the edge of the pits end. His opaque eyes grew wide, lugging his armoured form up to the edge, grasping the hilt of the Axe and pulling himself halfway up. His breaths were ragged, chest still pounding in pain.

The Jedi Knight desperately wanted to get in the thick of things but his rational side knew it was a bad call. Luckily, the MEAT launchers were doing their job but, unfortunately, it only seemed to slow the Bryn forces down although, the Pimentos were providing much needed cover for the Kastolar troopers to get in as many hits as they could. Cas watched as the Drones were front line to the attack only to be gunned down by the troopers, the Jedi swiftly deflected any shots that came his way from the Spikers and attempted to defend anyone else in his vicinity as well.

At the sight of the Bryn using the Drones' bodies as a bridge to pass through the frozen river made his face contort - they were just expendable to the Bryn. Disgusting. Then the 5 other Skags emerged from the woodwork and as the Jedi prepared to deal with them, Mathieu had patched through urging him to do so as well - turning to his squad, Cas lifted his arm slightly and with the aid of the Force, telekinetically unclipped some of his trooper's CryoBan grenades before clipping them to his own belt.

"This... is... so stupid." he said, criticizing himself for what he was about to do. Cas was fast and small, smaller than the Skags at least and so he had the advantage of speed and the ability to outmanoeuvre them. After a short sprint to the edge of the hill, Cas leapt in the air, lightsaber in hand deflecting anything that came toward him. Flipping mid-air, Cas landed directly on the back of one of the Skags in a crouched position, the Jedi Knight stabbed his lightsaber into its hide. It probably wouldn't hurt it, but it'd definitley keep him stabilised while he was mounted on it.

Whether the Skag flailed about, trying to throw Cas off of it, he and his lightsaber would remain latched onto it. Stabilising himself, Cas unclipped one of the CryoBan grenades from his belt and levitate it in the air with the Force before launching it at one of the charging Skags' legs. "Kriffkriffkriffkriff!" he yelled out repeatedly as he tried to stay on, Cas only had five left and while he wouldn't be able stop all the Skags it'd make things more bearable for their troops who already had enough on their plate.

Launching the last five CryoBan grenades at five more Skag, Cas, still on top of the Skag he had landed on earlier, used his free hand to speak into his wrist comm "Stretch, you're missing all the--whoa!--fun out here!" he stated, nearly falling off of it midway through. Alright, time to get off this ride now, the Jedi stabbed his lightsaber back into the Skag one last time before performing a Force enhanced leap off of it, up into a nearby tree. Landing on a strong treebranch and he glanced down at the chaos below, noticing the Ravager Brute drew some concern but the hill was now coated in ice making him smirk, he was interested to see how the Bryn would work their way up. Maybe they'd sacrifice more of their soldiers. Raising his wrist comm near his lips, Cas spoke into it to the other Concord troopers "I took out and distracted as many as I could. How're things looking for you guys?"

Syd couldn't help but roll her eyes at the enthusiasm Starlin Rand Starlin Rand displayed.

Hell, if he did well, she would count it as a passed trial of his.

The chrome suited, currently beautiful looking abomination was careful with her flames as she followed Starlin Rand into combat, , conjuring spears of flame that began to rain down from the sky, slamming into the faces of some of the warriors near Osam Osam , conjuring small twisters of flame that ran into Bryn and set thdm a blaze, Syd forcing flames into their throat, her blades slashing alien faces off as she evaded their attacks, especially the large ones, and breathed red hot fire on them, chewing through their flesh in seconds, all to cover her own side. Syd's general strategy was to aggro, and it generally worked on account of how horrifically deadly she was.

Four Risen attacked her all at once and her orange staff whipped about violently, dodging or parrying, hoping Starlin was paying attention to how she held off multiple attackers. She had no compassion for them. She hadn't been this utterly merciless in a long time.

Their roaring faces were reflected in her chromium suit as she struck down her initial attackers, and then set fire to other types of warriors she was slowly starting to recognize.

Red hot flames savaged a group of Sraelvun, creeping into their orifices and roasting them alive from within as she continued spinning her staff through head and limb, hacking through drones about to attack Jedi, she slowed a brute down long enough for a Jedi to plunge his saber into its face.

She began to use her Force Flight abilities in conjunction with her combat styles, making normally impossible evasions that were usually followed by a decapitation or neck snap conducted from mid air as she flew above them.

Her senses were alive, each move an act of combat, each move flowing to the next and a logical extension of the previous.

A lucky axe blow caught part of her torso and bright green blood spilled out. She let out a hollow metallic shriek of pain and rolled to avoid decapitation, her suit starting to seal the wound, but she was still off her game from pain for the next few moments as she was forced on the defensive by Drones, fighting like maniacs.

Out came a blast of fire from her mouth so powerful it incinerated the group advancing on her, fire balls leaping from the inferno of their burning bodies to set ablaze other Bryn.

Syd rose slowly, the pain from her not fully healed wound still throbbing, and got kicked in the face, deforming it like silly putty for a few seconds as she was flung backward, combo multiplier ruined.

(Cutaway of Darth Vader shouting "NOOOOOOOO...")

Syd sprang up, fling her staff at the one who kicked her, barely dodging rifle fire from behind and slowly working her combo chain back up.

(O+Square repeatedly to beat down.)

Syd's flaming fists crashed into Bryn heads as she brutalized her way through them to get back to Starlin, her Dragon Kung Fu tearing off throat and face...

Kar'dak rose, turning to the other Juggernauts around them. He knew three of them, Gordesh was the smallest of them but also the smartest. Well, the most logistically intelligent anyway. Darda and Corsh were both Grenadiers, big and strong. The four of them together? They'd talked about it, maybe - possible. Especially if they caught him with his guard down. Even without speaking they saw it in his eyes.

"No Kar'dak! We must stand together today!" Corsh spoke, blurting it out in front of the others.

Darda and Gordesh both seized up, nervousness freezing them in place as the subject was now truly on the table. Tathra was their creator, their father and leader. He was or perhaps once was, an incredible warrior. But now? All he was doing was getting their people killed.

"It needs to happen, Corsh." He explained, arms swinging at his sides.

"What needs to happen?" Asked one of the minors, hugging his Carbine to his chest. Gordesh shot daggers, they had one shot - if many others found out what they had planned it wouldn't work.

"Nothing." - "Not nothing." Corsh replied, stepping up to Kar. He felt nervous, the massive grenadier was getting too close for comfort.

"How will we do it? What will we do when the deed is done? Where would we go, Kar?" Corsh prodded, angry but with valid questions.

"I don't know! I- I'd figure it out!"

By now, the outsider minor had figured it out. His weapon drawn. But before he could speak, Gordesh's kukri was through his throat. That was it, they were Tenabraks now. No going back for kin-slaying.

"We all saw what happened, he pulled his carbine on us. No going back now. We find the Titan, and we do it." Silence filled the empty space. Even if the Titan would not, they would endure alone.

Even though he had held doubt for so long, to now stand against his creator felt surreal. Did he have the stomach for it?

They travelled down the wreckage, but that was when they saw it. Tathra's Axe, embedded in concrete. Tathra would be near, silently the group approached. Shivers ran up their spine as the crimson paw of the Titan pulled himself up halfway from the pit below. They looked among one another, now was their chance. Tathra didn't even look at them - he was tired. Hurt.

Kar trembled, looking back and forth between the Axe and his surrogate father a dozen times. The longer he took, the harder it would get. But then he thought of his brother, and he had made his decision. The Draelvasier could endure without him. Kar'dak pulled the Axe from the slab.

"You'll only get us killed!" He screamed, swinging the Axe low at Tathra's face and chest. He didn't know who he was talking to or who he was trying to convince.

A flood of memories crashed over him as he exited hyperspace. He was back at Yurb fighting against these wretched monsters. All the bombers that he led out to destroy the mothership. The Concordia exploding into millions of pieces after being hyperspace rammed. The fighters blowing up the back of his ship as he was knocked unconscious. Waking up to Caden Evesa Caden Evesa standing over him, trying to heal his injuries. His Padawan, helping him. His best friend, aiding him in a time of need. His brother, sticking with him through thick and thin...

The thought was immediately pushed away when laser fire rushed passed his ship. Pulling the control stick hard to the right the ship began to spin, nearly missing the Bryn'adûl ship flying past. With a quick move he locked the S-Foils into attack position. The chase was on.

Following the fighter through a series of dodges and weaves, a clear shot was finally open. Pressing down on the stick's button, he watched the blue lasers fire out towards the escaping ship. Rolling hard to the left he went to find another ship to blow up.

It felt good to be back.

_________________________________________________________________
The Jedi Knight worked her way through the area to ensure that the evacuations were indeed complete. It would be a mistake, hubris, and unforgivable to assume that they were infallible. The Concord had asked the people of Nar Kreeta; traders, mercenaries, miners, slaves, freed slaves, and all manner of individuals from all walks of life to leave this world behind. They were prepared for the incursion. Ready, this time. Had it been explained to them that their home would become a sacrifice for veritable World Eaters? That it was possible, that it may burn? Everything they had, the land, their homes, and any meager or grand existence that some had carved out would be lost. Their culture, their history, both good and bad would become forfeit for one undeniable necessity.

The right to live.

These border planets served as a hecatomb, empty, and soulless. Bereft of what once brought them color. No matter the impending doom, no matter the reason, it was a hard sell. It didn’t matter what proof they presented. The reports on the Holo-Net would never do the destruction that the Bryn’adûl left behind any truth. It was horror. But, it was far away. Distant. These inhabitants were used to enduring dreadful hardships that pushed them to the breaking point. They had gained strength through adversity, by hitting their limit and coming back for more. That strength led to pride and belief, which meant that some would always fight.

Some would always be certain that they could stand on their own.

This was a lesson that Gianna had been hard-pressed to learn. There was no level of education that could hope to prepare her for the true depth of moral resilience and determination exuded by the denizens of the galaxy. Her empathic ability only extended so far. She wanted to cry, to scream, to show them what it was that they would face if they remained. It wouldn’t help. If anything—It renewed their resolve. The Concord said they could not do it. That they ought to flee. Hide.

They believed that they could. The strength of a people could never be viewed or measured more accurately than when placed with seemingly insurmountable odds.

The flame-haired woman was relieved that she hadn’t come across anyone else. The sky was on fire from ships burning up in the atmosphere. Chunks of shrapnel were falling in the wastes that she dutifully traversed. She used a combination of technology and the Force to search for life signs among the canyons and hills that may or may not hide smaller settlements. Her feet were growing tired and the sun was less than gentle while it baked the topsoil. Her clothing was able to change at her whim to support the environment—But the twin lightsabers at her side felt increasingly heavy.

Gianna rarely carried them. She was trained to use them. Throughout her tutelage, she had excelled in most forms of combat. She was quick, with a keen eye, and was capable of adapting to almost any scenario. The Jedi Knight had simply found a lack of use for it. Many disputes she put to rest without ever raising her voice, let alone, raising a weapon. This threat of the Bryn’adûl had changed that. Someone she cared for, respected, and held in high esteem ( John Locke John Locke ) had expressed deep concern in her methods. He didn’t want her landing on Nar Kreeta unarmed.

To appease him, she relented. The request was small. It would help him worry less, while he was systems away, and in the end it was still her choice to draw the blade.

The battle was worsening. In the distance, she could feel it starting to ramp up like a wave rolling into shore. What had once been inconsequential, just a squall in a storm, would soon become a full-blown tsunami. She could feel the precipice of the threat with every breath she drew. The Bryn’adûl had come. They were here. They were that same crashing upsurge that would sweep everything away. Not only because they intended to, but, because it was what they were. A force of nature.

She had heard the whispers in the ether.

This war stops here.

We’ll burn the planet to ash if it means defeating the Bryn’adûl.

She could hear echoes of a salvo going off in the distance. It rang through the hills(x) along with anti-armor slugs. She could hear the faint thudding of Bryn’adûl Drones hitting the ground while they charged (x). A coppery scent. She could almost feel it on her own hands, dark, and tinny. Red. Black. Blood. This told her that she was closer to the combat that she might have realized. Her stomach twisted and her heart lurched. Ice was in the air. Death was in the air.

Perhaps, John had been right to worry.

Gianna headed in the direction that she felt the most agony pooling from. At first, with her sights on Skags running down the hilltop toward a group of the Defense Force, she pushed that way, but something new cut through the chaos like a knife. It stopped her in her tracks. Her place in this war was always uncertain. She was a healer; not a fighter. She did not kill. She depended on the Force to lead and guide her as Orn Pharr had taught her on Tanaab. Then and now—She had to listen.

It wanted her to go the other way. Toward a still burning crash site. (x)

She jumped as a kukri flew at her throat and her hand snapped up. It wasn’t there. Nothing was there. Nothing but the dry and arid wastes of Nar Kreeta. She couldn’t help it when doubts flooded her mind that didn’t belong to her. Could they do it? She felt the ache, the pain, of losing a brother that she had never known. (x) The hand that held to her neck fell over heart. It was emotion; but it was foreign. The way it translated was…Alien. The Titan. Father. It was time.

He needed to die.

She sucked in a deep breath. She was too late. The decision was already made.

The Jedi took off at a sprint in the direction that the Force demanded. It didn’t bring thoughts, visions, and information for her to refuse and ignore it. She did not deny it. Could not. Only one word rang in her head, over and over, in such a way that she somehow understood. It didn’t seem to be in Basic, but somehow, she knew exactly what it meant.

Kin-Slayer

It was a death knell. Afterall, there was no coming back from that.

I realize that this is a lot to read, so, I thought adding a brief note would help. I am aware that the evacuations were considered "100% Complete" and I not assuming a "large" population. My character has not found anything further since her previous post. She is simply being thorough because of the nature of this fight. Since her last post, Gianna has been traveling the hillsides of the Outskirts checking for anyone that might have refused or gotten missed in the evacuation. She is a Jedi that attempts to preserve life at all costs. What she has found is the fight going on with Cadere Cadere , Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion , and Argaloth. She was going to join in but the Force is pulling her toward a crash site instead. This is where Tathra Khaeus Tathra Khaeus and Kar'dak Kar'dak fell. She likely wasn't spotted by the first group. She has not yet arrived at the crash site but it can be assumed that she is close by.

Gordrak stood abruptly and fired off a shot from his assault carbine. He had been tasked with holding his position and until further reinforcements arrived, he'd remain where he was. The single 457.2mm round punched into a trooper and hurled them backward, their chest now home to a molten crater. The interior of the round leaked plasma and ensured the troopers very brief and final moments were ones of searing pain. The only regret Gordrak had was that he was unable to end the human with his own hands. Kneeling afterward, Gordrak scanned his surroundings again. Some of the Risen had taken the battle up and into the buildings whilst the General had revealed that Jedi had entered the fray. Jedi. Gordrak had never fought one but knew better than to underestimate them. All the same, part of him reveled in the possibility of facing one.

To fight a Jedi likely meant the fighting would become close quarters. That or some of it would. Regardless, Gordrak savored the possibility of such an event. The Drael could probably make tangible progress should that be the case. In addition to ground being taken, a particularly brutal melee could be disastrous concerning the enemies morale. Even if none of the enemy fled, it could sow doubt in their abilities. Either way, Gordrak would have a good time regardless of what happened. If people ran, they ran. If they stayed and fought, there would be more bloodshed. It beat hiding behind some debris and waiting to be blown up or shot in the back by someone on a roof.

" You heard the general. Jedi approaching. " Gordrak shouted as he sent several additional rounds downrange. The other Brutes that were pushed up with him acknowledged the statement promptly. Kill. Maim. Crush. Once the Reinforcements arrived, Gordrak would be free to do just that. He'd seen twisted, malformed things that would have broken the will of these humans currently opposing them. Most of them anyway. Those things failed to break Gordrak then and this enemy would meet with similar failure. Gordrak raised his carbine from behind cover and took aim at a window above. Just as an enemy trooper finished getting set up, Gordrak sent several rounds into their chest. The trooper came tumbling out of the window and fell to the streets below. A chuckle bellowed forth from Gordrak as the corpse hit the ground.

Gordrak promptly turned his attention back to the battle at hand and prepared to push once the reinforcements arrived. They would advance together and secure what they could. They would endure because that was what they did. It was what Gordrak excelled at.

Exactly, she had to explore a cave system leading to the city and mark the places where explosives could be placed so that armies could enter the city from here as well.

Since the cave was not large enough for an average-sized Bryn’adûl to move easily in, the short Reidun was chosen because it would fit comfortably. At the moment, the offensive was already underway, and the girl was listening to her superior’s last briefing on what and how to do it. Although she knew her job, she listened intently throughout. It wasn’t the first time they had been told all this, so by now she knew it all by heart.

”Everything is clear, if I am allowed to go, I will begin my mission!”

She even told her supervisor, who even let the girl go to her business. The girl arrived a few minutes later at the cave where she had been sent. Even before she went in, she quickly searched her surroundings so that there would be no place for a trap. It wasn't. One last time Reidun turned back to watch the fights. In the end, she shook her head and entered the darkness…

While not the most subtle of men on the best of days, Adrian was quite confident in his current hidey-hole, despite Captain Vect's usual protests. If the Changeling veteran had his way, the Sith Lord would likely be in a fortified safehouse somewhere. Not that he would normally complain...

... but today was a bit different, was it not? What happened here today would determine the fate of untold millions, according to the prognostics.

In his impatience, he had completely forgotten to take into account the oddly multi-layered nature of the marketplace.

Holy chit, you're Adrian Motherkarking Vandiir!

Eyebrows soaring skyward at the pink woman's sudden entrance, a quick wave of his hands saw the armoured figures lower their blasters and another had them skitter back into the shadows, however reluctantly, quickly leaving the pair alone in the midst of a soon-to-be-battlefield.

"The one and only..." Lips quirking upwards into a mischievous smirk, his tone was dry. "... and I don't believe I've had the pleasure, Yula."

Letting the double-entendre hang in the air for a moment, his tone turned wry. "Was I really that easy to spot? Perhaps I shouldn't have slept through Stealth and Skullduggery 101 in the Academy."

He saw that same hatred and fear in the eyes of the Juggernaut standing over him. They shared a moment of silence, his eyes looking to the half-blown apart corpse not far behind them. It was one of their own. Then he looked to each of the three Juggernauts standing behind him, death in their eyes as they looked at him with such disdain. Had he not lead them to victory a hundred times, this was their way - to struggle and survive. Could they not forgive a few missteps? He knew what was to come. Shock shot through his system like eye - his chest seizing up as the Juggernaut tore the Axe from the ground. He raised his right gauntlet up in defence as he pulled his legs toward his chest, ready to jump back down into the pit and away from the mutineer but he wasn't quite fast enough.

The crimson blade of the Axe cut into the verikast plate as he attempted to jump away, his flight thrown off by the powerful momentum of the strike. Tathra crashed through the debris, shattering a lone pillar as he careened down further into the pit. Crashing into the ground, Tathra felt at his chest, the breastplate was scorched, a thin but deep cut into the silver plating across his chest. The edge of the blade had nearly cut into his right pectoral, but he'd been lucky. Though it seemed that wasn't for lasting, the four mutineers descended from the edges of the pit - coming from all sides toward him. Hate seethed inside the heaving chest of the Titan as he rose, ready to fight.

Traitors. Betrayers. His own kind had turned against him, against their creator on the soil of the enemy, in the midst of battle they would jeopardise everything because of their fear, no matter. They would not stop him, the Bryn'adûl would endure, he would endure. He wanted to ask them why, but there was no time for words. No at all as the four converged on him, two were large Grenadiers - Darda came with a Cleaver Axe held in both hands, Corsh firing with a Carbine from the side-lines. He couldn't see the other two, but that was fine. He didn't need to, he rushed the first with the Cleaver as he came into the beginning of his swing, Tathra brought his left gauntlet in the way - stopping him from entering the apex of his swing, striking with his shoulder and forearm of his right; knocking the Grenadier down on his back with a vicious shoulder charge.

"Weak - waste of flesh."

The other grenadier fired with his carbine, aiming at centre mass as Tathra continued to move too fast, the molten bullets bouncing from the heavy Verikast - melting into the thick plates and leaving small scorches across his back and collar. He dashed across the distance between them, he grasped the edge of the Carbines barrel; aiming it over his shoulder in the direction of the traitors comrades.

He twisted, pushing the barrel left as he thrust his fist into the traitors throat, grasping him by the waist with his other hand; spinning him round and slamming him into the debris. The grenadier fell to his knees, Tathra kicked at his skill - "Puny, pit rot!" He spoke as he kicked, viciously retaliating and knocking the helmet from his head, grasping him again by the nape of the neck as he flung the Grenadier toward the other, clattering into each other.

He turned to face the third, smaller one. Bloodlust in his eyes.

He'd hit him. He nearly didn't believe it, but he had struck Tathra. He stood frozen, as if he was dreaming. He had begun down a path that could never be steered from. Now they had to kill him, for the Draelvasier. For themselves. If Kar'dak was to endure this battle and live beyond it, he had to commit to it. He watched in silence as the combat ensued bellow, his companions attempting to battle the Chieftain to the best of their ability. Corsh and Darda were thrown about like rag-dolls, crashing into walls and their attacks countered almost immediately.

Watching the combat ensue, he almost regretted attacking. But even if he ran, once Tathra had killed his friends he knew the massive red drael would come for him. This was his best chance, Kar'dak leapt down as the Chieftain turned to face Gordesh. He shot himself downward, the Titan's Axe raised overhead aiming for Tathra's back. If he missed, he'd reposition himself and swing again for his gut when he was focusing on one of his companions.

At the same time, Corsh and Darda was close the distance between themselves and Tathra again, flanking him on either side and moving in to attack. Darda swung with his Cleaver for Tathra's shoulder as Corsh took a Kukri from his belt and leapt for the Titan's throat.

Together, they would kill the Titan. Together, they would save their species from him.

"You will be the death of us all, Chieftain Khaeus. Is the future of our species not worth YOUR life?" Kar'dak posed the question to him in the throws of the combat.

The Antarian Special Forces Squad Lykos were pushing ahead of the Jedi Knight, moving to cover ever corner of the street as the team and Caedyn were racing to reach the front line. The sounds of battle were clashing loudly overhead, every second wasted meant the likelihood of a fallen friend or ally. Every ally lost meant one step closer to The Bryn'adul reaching closer into Silver Space and threatening the lives of those they'd sworn to protect.

As he kept pace with the Rangers in tow, Caedyn could feel the tension in the air, the wealth of emotion and strife that echoed across Kreeta City in the turmoil wrought on by their Invaders. Every Jedi or Soldier present on the ground were connected via the Force, and every life that was taken through unnatural cause was a wound inflicted upon it's Will, the natural cycle of life that caused a sickening feeling within the pit of his stomach.

So many times Caedyn had witnessed violence and death, it never grew easier to contend with and yet their duty was to serve. They fought for others, so that the innocent would never have to know what it felt like to take a life or have theirs stolen of them.

"Raven, checking in. Redeploying to Sector G. 15 mikes. Out." Jyoti Nooran Jyoti Nooran 's voice came over his Commlink among so much other friendly chatter calling out target locations and requesting reinforcements or orders relayed.

"Captain, hold up!" Caedyn called to Captain Joshua Harris, the man in charge signaling to his Squad mates to take up positions while doubling back to meet with the Jedi Knight. "How far out are we from Sector G?" Caedyn asked quickly while glancing down the street in the direction they'd been moving.

"Few minutes out, sounds like the situations getting heavy down those ways" Joshua replied, his voice rough and stern, tension in the commanding officer showing. One of the aspects of Jedi training that Caedyn appreciated was the years of learning how to prioritize an objective over their emotional impulses to respond or react to their fears and elation.

The Jedi Knight nodded in acknowledgement while reaching for the commlink and raising a response; "Raven, this is Caedyn Arenais. I'm with Lykos Squad and we're rerouting to Sector G now. Reports are coming in heavy, reinforcements enroute. Over" he called before returning the device to his utility belt for the time being.

"Let's get a move on then, I'm eager to join the others" Caedyn gave the reluctant order. He was eager to stand alongside those defending Nar Kreeta, but not in the expectation that he'd have to kill to save others. The Bryn'adul were brutal in their ways, yet a life was a life and still connected to the Force no different from any others...

(BFG Division by Mick Gordon Plays)

The hoard was endless...fighting with a ferocity Laertia hadn't felt sense Atrisia.

She drew on all her saber training to cut them down and stay alive, her antiquated looking yet extremely high tech Armor starting to get scratches and dents as she rampaged through the Bryn'adul with her katana, setting them ablaze with every slice, Lightsaber flying around her telekinetically at its full length, beheading or gutting occasionally.

Then her Katana and the Saber floated around her in deadly buzz saw patterns, Laertia drawing her double barreled laser Pistol, set to fire a continuous cryonic beam set and began freezing enemy heads, the sword shattering them and setting their corpses on fire due to its incendiary modifications.

As she fired her cryo lasers, she noticed the attack patterns of her weapons as they were telekinetically manipulated had begun to resemble Syd's attack style, but spread out. Laertia had been unconsciously drawing on the Force Spawn's knowledge through their bond. In the past, this realization would have freaked her out to no end. But not now. Now all it did was feel...strange.

Laertia drew from the font of Syd's power as she fought, slashing into the enemy brutally.

Some sort of heavy energy attack from above slashed into their ranks, killing many soldiers instantly. The attack ordered by Galak Galak had found its mark. Laertia was at the edge of the blast when it came down flinging her backward.

Laertia's mouth went dry, and she rose up, the armor having taken the worst of the effects, but now severely scorched and dented on the left side. Her weapons scattered about.

She grabbed a torn off door to a vehicle and used it to decapitate a Sraelvun, then used it to brutally bludgeon through another crowd of them, tossing her door into the back of one about to kill a Jedi, picking up his massive axe, and manipulating it with her mind to buzzsaw into more Bryn. But the fighting was picking up, and as soon as she found her saber and sword she was viciously gutting them again, inspiring those who had survived the attack to rally behind her as she hacked into Bryn ranks, intent on murdering anything that snarled at her. The Jedi and soldiers rapidly began to tighten their defenses, charging into the fray even as they were attacked from a dozen different directions, with Laertia chewing into the ranks like a lawnmower cutting grass, slashing away like Jason Vorhees, watching from a distant, and clinical place in her head as screaming alien after screaming alien had their face mutilated, sliced off, or caved in by her fist or somebody else. (One Jedi had, somehow, found a kitchen sink and used it to collapse a drone skull!)

As the fight went on her attacks grew more complex and brutal, slicing throats, impaling Bryn on debris, bullets and energy bolts smashing into her armor, one round going through the thinner part but Laertia barely felt it, decapitating the shooter seconds later.

"Omaez Waz Mouz Shinnzdeiruuz..." Laertia muttered, her speech impediment causing her to butcher the Atrisian phrase as she split a skull open with her blade, throwing her lightsaber at one about to run a defending Jedi through from behind...

Brooke Waters was not new to the ways of the Jedi, but she was new to the ways of the Concord. Still, she found herself enjoying her time on Kattada, assisting with the world, and found herself working with even stranger company of late, the Yuuzhan Vong. She had met a Shaper named Shay Nie. The Shaper had been part of a sect of Yuuzhan Vong that worked on the Ossus Project, with an ancient iteration of the Jedi Order. That made things more interesting. These Vong wanted to help reshape worlds that were lost by war.

And with the Bryn’adul entering the galactic stage, the Outcast Vong were hoping to test more of their biots to assist in any possible rebuilds. Having arrived by the way of one of the Mon Calamari frigates that was serving the Blue Coral Divers Clan as a transport. A Yorik-Coral Corvette had brought the Vong that were not keen on the technology to THAT level of trust, the blonde and her blue skinned team mate were in the outskirts.

The Vong ship had touched down before the landers. “We will have to work fast. The Coral won’t set well, but we have our Protectors… With their armor and the amphistaffs.” Shay stated.

Brooke nodded. “We have a pair of Jedi Knights and several of the Blue Coral Divers here to protect the area in a wider swatch, if the Bryn come this way, they’ll be faced with two sides of the coin, it will be… interesting to see what occurs.” The brubreen smiled.

Syd shot past Starlin like a bullet as the Padawan hid behind the wall. He heard the sounds of battle as she proceeded to roast several of the Risen alive, cooking them in their shells as it were. Waiting for an opening, his head jerked when Syd's cry of pain reached his ears. His first instinct was to leap into the fray, but as soon as he started to move he caught sight of a massive blast of flames, the kind that could only come from inside Syd. She was doing her dragon breathing fire thing. A good sign.

But Starlin was now out of cover, which wasn't so good for him.

One of the Risen charged at him with a snarl. Starlin's lightsaber and shoto both snapped up as he caught the blow meant to incapacitate him, then slashed upward at the enemy. The monster leaped back out of the way, then roared as flecks of lava from the shoto burned through its exoskeleton. Starlin had already turned to face several other foes, having sensed their approach.

He flung his lightsaber at them. Syd had yet to teach him the trick to it yet, but he had learned it from another duelist, one Val Drutin . The blue blade tore through lobster flesh once, then twice, catching any stragglers it missed the first time on its way back to Starlin’s extended hand.

Distantly he felt Syd struggling to reach him, but he had his own problems to worry about. The shoto, with its shorter blade and unpredictable splatters of lava, couldn’t be used like a boomerang (or at least, it was inadvisable to throw it) but it was sufficient for defending against the Drones that now drew near. Key word: sufficient. The boy, already starting to lose himself in the roaring rush of combat, now looked to the Force for the extra oomph that would turn the tide in his favor.

The second his lightsaber was in his palm again, the Bryn in his immediate vicinity suddenly slowed, their movements becoming sluggish and clumsy. Starlin whipped at them with both blades, goring their bodies. He had killed before when fighting the witches with Syd. The Bryn were equally inhuman, and he felt little sympathy or remorse as he cut them down. His focus had tunneled down to single-minded intent, but the enthusiasm was still there, fueling his drive.

When the world quickened again, Starlin realized with a grin that he had been adding his own sound effects to the battle, his own awesome background music. He had technically just become a soldier, a knight in (not so) shining armor, and so far he was loving every second of it. Hopefully the joy would last.

The tank shots from outside of the city were the least of their worries, they were pinned down under thick defences across steep lines of sight. Almost every movement was a difficult one that cost lives but with the help of their Ra'mak artillery they were making more progress now. He received a communication from the Primarch, their forces that had survived the crash had begun to make their way into the city. His force of a few dozen swelled to two hundred minors alongside one hundred grenadiers and heavies each. But Drek'ma was right, they would not be enough. Not without leadership, it made him wish Tathra was there at his side. He would know what to do. But no matter what, they had to endure. They had to survive and live on.

It was his duty as an Emissary, as one of the hand of Khaeus to lead in his stead. He had always failed in that duty, but now was the time. This was his responsibility.

"Warriors! Hear me. Drons, Minors - hold the lines, don't give an inch to the Jedi without bloodshed. Give them nothing! Grenadiers, form into groups of six and focus fire the enemy defences with your explosive fire. Make them afraid to come out of their wretched holes! Heavies, you are the fist. Lay down the fire on those we flush out, protect the others with your lives." Pride swelled inside of the Baedurin, today he faced his weakness and spat back at it in the face.

Some Juggernauts set aside their rifles, getting in close with Axes, Maces and Glaives - using their superior strength to obliterate the enemy. The heavies, armed with Triad Chainguns would lay down a wave of supressing fire that would obliterate anything it touched whilst the grenadiers used Krakers, half of which used the alt-fire - closing off pathways and trapping their enemies inside their own defences. If they popped up, the Grenadier would pull the trigger and they'd explode.

The syphons began to move deeper into the city, reports flew through the battlenet. There were dozens of bombs, he hoped they wouldn't find hundreds.

"Primarch, I need to know how many bombs are in this city!"

It was starting to work, but the Jedi still fought back against them ferociously. Elite groups cut through their pushing forces like butter in other areas of the city. They had to make it up these stairs, Galak and Pavium would begin their push alongside two squads of Juggernauts at their back - the main force making an incremental move forward. Galak cut down dozens with the rippling bullets of the Triad; their tactics were working.

Galak firmly planted his boot on the first step, Pavium to his right. He looked to his comrade, nearly smiling and then... Galak was on his back, dirt and debris across his face.

Booby trap.

He heard Pavium scream.

The transmission was clear and accurate. Jedi were on their way, already Sethrak saw the glowing bright blades in his blue and red vision. He had already ordered the Drael with him to target jedi and heavy troops but he felt the need to point the group out. Surely they were going to attack the building he and his squad presided in.

"Drael. The Jedi are West, show them what it means to fight The Bryn'Adul!"

There was no vocal reply, but visually he saw the barrage of projectiles-molten metal, shards and other munitions-slowly shift from the center of the battle toward the west. The Jedi tried to block, failing as the shots overwhelmed them. However, it wouldn't be enough, there were too many jedi and not enough accuracy, range, or even troops on the Bryn side. Very soon the jedi would divert forces to attack the building.

Suddenly an explosion rocked the whole room, dust and fire shooting down through the ceiling. It took Sethrak too long to realize that it was another of the explosions from outside. Before he decided what to do, another blast hit just outside, at the base of the building. This needed to end, and quickly before the building collapsed. He aimed again, looking quickly and in detail for the source. Another blast threw him forwards, as he dropped his rifle out the window.

The Warlock recovered his footing, angry at the loss of his weapon. He looked at the Drael around him. "You." he said, pointing at a fellow aerevalin. "Give me your spear." The Bryn soldier nodded, tossing the spear to Sethrak, who caught it with one hand. "Bryn, the foe has found us. We must endure this assault. Get to the lower levels, if the building should collapse, we will have time to escape. Move with haste."

In unison, the Drael began to run to the steps as another blast rocked the building, this time at a window. The poor drone that had been there fell back, dead, as the wall was blasted apart. Blast these scum, their pathetic attempts would be in vain. Every one Drael they killed would be repaid with the deaths of two of their own. Like dominos, planets will continue to fall to the Bryn onslaught and then, in the end, will the Jedi understand. Their suffering will be at an end, only the strong will survive, and they will see the slaughter for what it is.

Mercy,
