Beltran Rarr
Character
Beltran jogged through the deserted streets of Kreeta City, breathing deeply of the air through the opened vent on his helmet. Blood mixed with cordite, fire and death. This was what Beltran had been born for. Not diplomacy-trying to reason, in vain, with the beings shooting at you. Carnage and slaughter, that was what the Bryn'adul brought with them wherever they went.
And that was what Beltran would have waiting for them here.
From the very moment that it had become apparent that the newest Bryn'adul invasion would come to a head on Nar Kreeta, Beltran had made sure that Paladin Company would be part of the defense. Made up almost entirely of surviving Rangers from Yurb, it could be said that this moment was what the unit had been formed for.
At the head of three platoons of fifty men each, Beltran moved quickly down the streets toward the marketplace. It appeared that this would be where the Lorrdian and his company of killers would be needed the most, as the Bryn'adul were attempting to use the large area that ran underneath of the city to get inside.
As they arrived, they would find that the Bryn'adul had already begun their assault. A maze of buildings, alleyways, nooks and crannies, the Marketplace was a veritable nightmare to assault. What was even worse, the SJC defenders had something in this battle that they hadn't on Yurb: Time. Every block, every street, every inch of ground that the Bryn'adul marched on had been prepared to kill them. Jedi and Rangers as well as Standard Defense Force Troopers and planetary militias, all were arrayed to bring the invaders to their knees. And at the worst of it all? Beltran and his Paladins.
"Spread out in your assigned groupings," Beltran called over the company's comnet. For this battle, Beltran had outfitted his three platoons differently. First platoon, which Beltran personally led was geared up in powered combat armor and sporting the chainsaw equipped "Bonecutter" Blaster Rifles. These were the tip of the spear, the one's who were going to get up close with the Bryn'adul and make them pay.
Second platoon was assigned as the midline, armed with the Predator Rifles and their ability to switch between incendiary and cryo-ban projectiles, they would be providing support to the First. They would also act as reserves when the causalities began to mount.
Third Platoon would array itself in strategically important areas. They would shore up the fortifications that were already there with Akk Dog Portable Shield Generators. They would find sniper blinds, taking out high priority targets with Anti-Material rifles and they would create machine gun nests to keep the rank-and-file Bryn at bay.
With practiced efficiency, the Rangers of Paladin Company would fan out in this manner, creating a walking line that stretched out over several blocks. Beltran would be among the first of the Company to come into contact with the enemy, in a square not far from the center of the Marketplace. It would be with a fair feeling of glee that he would lead the first charge into their lines.
